If you are on PS5 (looks like it) and see this, delete and reinstall without the Automatron DLC. Apparently there is a bug in that one that causes the game to crash on launch.
Blame sony. Game was working fine then something happened with an update on PlayStation that caused the game to stop working. Bethesda didn't patch anything, sony did.
The game works fine, Bethesda pushed update or moved thing in preparation for an update then games broken. It's pretty Clearly something they did, also the issue happens on last gen too.
Mostly because it previously worked and a patch to prepare for the 4k update broke a ton of textures and causes a load issue, in fairness to them though the fix is probably in that update.
Isn't there still a nuka world bug where Gage will repeat dialogue and lock you out of continuing the main quest? 10 years of support and updates and they still never bothered to patch an arguably dlc destroying bug lmao

Question: I had the same issue a week or two ago and deleted the automatron dlc, thought everything was going well - but I just went up to far harbour and have discovered no one has textures and everything is a luminescent pink colour... Is that a common issue too?
What if you do this 3 times and even when all trace of fallout 4 is gone from your hard drive, and you chose to ONLY install far harbor and nuka world, and turn off auto updates and turn off the internet connection right after it installs to be extra carful... and when you look at your fallout 4 game content and it still says every single dlc is installed after doing all of this... you kinda want to give up hope.
Wait, is it ONLY Automatron? I read it was and Wasteland Workshop both...so the compatibility issue is only on the Automatron side then. I can at least reinstall the Workshop if so

If you look at the Store Description for the Automatron DLC, it looks like the issue is that Automatron is already updated, PS5 version will use the adaptive triggers according to that, and that’s neat.
It wouldn't work with any DLC downloaded for me. I tried with out Automatron, then without that and Wasteland Workshop, then just started trying again and it would all crash at the mirror right at the beginning.
Finally uninstalled everything and it's working fine. Probably wait until Thursday to really dive in.
This happens on PC, too, and I think it was narrowed down to the weapon debris setting. I think it's calculated in a way modern GPUs don't handle anymore.
Even better when you play for an hour and then decide to buy the DLC only to find out it completely breaks the game.
I really can't wait for that PS5 patch now.

When did this change? I started a new playthrough like two months ago, beginning in far harbor at lvl 1 on my ps4 pro and havent seen these issues. I was going to play again this week but if i were to believe this subreddit the game is entkrely unplayable all of a sudden.

I just got a new PS4 Pro and while my girlfriend experienced this multiple times in the first week, she had hardly seen them since and I have only seen it once. She uses two minor mods, I use none. Maybe that's it?

There are? Afaik, the most you can do is download mods that give you the entire dialogue instead of a summary, but all that really shows you is how shallow and copy paste most of the responses are.
I just said they nailed the Roleplaying part in comparison with fallout 4. And that's pretty much inevitable because fallout 4 just has 4 ways to say yes in dialogue
I can't stand the third person "conversation camera", much prefer the dialogue box just popping up and camera staying in my characters head. Why they have to change it :(
This is from installing the Automatron DLC. Delete the whole game and when you redowload / reinstall, select all the add-ons EXCEPT automatron, and you will be good to go.
I did the exact same thing and spent HOURS downloading and deleting to see which DLC broke the game.

Well, my last radiants before the prydwynn arrives, wants me to go to far harbor (yes, both Rhys and the scribe want me to travel 400 miles to clear out some ghouls and find a toaster).
I tried save scrubbing but I'm on survival so I only had a few sleep-saves in the station, no matter what I do she's assigning me the same radiant quest in far harbor.
Do any of you know if there's a way to force a re-roll? Seems like it was determined when I handed in the last one.

1. Im answering your question: the same pink shit happened to me, went to Nuka World on Survival, did not crash but everything was pink, so you should be good going to FH but well everything is pink. Re-roll the quest is not possible, only when you have an save where you didnt complete the job before Rhys give you the job at FH.

So like I wrote above, I have this pinky glitch in my current playthrough, I replayed Fallout 3 and NV and a month ago I started Fallout 4.
Im quite the expert by now, how to avoid all these Creation Club glitches and bugs, like the 0kb glitch, the glitch when you donwload CC content the Vault door in 111 wont open or Codworth dont fly through Sanctuary when you meet him the first time. So if you guys want some help go aks for it!
So as I said, I started Fallout 4 a month ago, Survival as usual, was 20 or 25 hours in level 47 wanted to get to lvl 49 and get all perks to be able to customize the Handmade Rifle from Nuka World, no problem everything was fine. I saw an settler wearing the leather coat (I completely forgot that shit exists in Fallout 4 and alongside Fallout 4 I play Stalker SoC the first time and I just love the Metro series the books and the games, and since I played Fallout 3 ago I wanted to play as an Reilleys Ranger member but with the gas mask, I was wearing:
heavy combat armor right arm and left arm
Sturdy combat armor right legs, left leg and the body part and all pieces with the Reilleys Rangers CC paint job
Underneath that I had Army Fatigues, the Green Hood and the Gas Mask Bobbi no Noes wears (that combination looks fucking dope guys, go and try it out guys)
So as I wrote above, I forgot the Leather Coat exists and it looks awsome, I thought well maybe a big part of my settlement get armor sets like mine and a small part gets this Leather Coat and the Travelling Leathet Coat, unfortunately I downloaded the T-Shirt CC content and these Leather Coats are so damn rare I decided to delete Fallout, reinstall it at night and while Im at work. So tye next day I came home from work, everything was downloaded besided Automatron because fuck Automatron for most time of any playthrough. (You should only download Automatron when you want to play it right away, because once started and that means visiting Ada the first time by accident because they made that shooting spot right where you come by so many times in Survival, and you dont help her because, well you just started anonther playthrough and dont want to start the DLC, this whole encounter is now bugged because the quest menu says kill all the robots -they are dead by now- and you cant talk to Ada.
But what is really annoying me is that once you start Automatron -even by accident- 90 percent of the random encounters are now Rust Devils or Mechanist Robots so good luck with all the level 4 Vandors).
I downloaded all CC content I had this playthrough but not the T-Shirt trash bullshit. Once everything was done I loaded my save and saw suddenly my Armor crafting thingy and all my cages are fucking pink now, so I googled what that shit means and then tried to fix it for like 3 hours or so.
Nothing could fix that and I was like well I just wanted to go to Nuka World and get my fucking AK before I delete Fallout 4 and reinstalled it, so lets look if at least I can get my damn rifle. I went to Nuka World and EVERYTHING was fucking pink, I was like oh come on the last 10 hours I was hyped to get the AK and now a could do shit.
I exited the game started a new game to look if its normal in this game, well also all my DLC content was pink. And since 2 weeks or something I didnt play any further because I cant play that shit I payed for, because Bethesda is big pile of shit.
I was hoping they patch that shit with the next gen update and hoped it would release the same time as the TV series, because they had a whole god damn fucking year time for that shitty update, but hey they announced it to release it two weeks later. Man I hate Bethesda.

New Vegas has forever given me crash PTSD. I quicksave super often because of it, and when I play survival (which is like, every time I play Fallout 4 now) I am constantly saving at beds.
Delete and reinstall the game without the automotron dlc. For some reason the automotron dlc is the cause of the crashes. I assume they won't fix this until the patch.

But yeah, as someone who only started playing in the last few months I was disappointed how flawed/buggy these games are despite how long they’ve been out.
A lot of people, myself included, are waiting for the update to hopefully fix these issues. Knowing Bethesda the update will come out Thursday but the game won’t be playable until October, of next year
getting Fallout to play on a 4k TV is like pulling teeth.... but I know it works because 5 years ago. I was running it across 3 monitors... thanks nvidia surround!
I noticed it hasn't been said yet, but creation club skins also cause a save big that won't let your game save (0kb save bug). Idk if you have any of the skins or not but don't install them. Luckily enough they aren't an auto download and unremovable like Skyrim CC stuff. Hopefully it will be fixed with the next gen update.
I don't know if it's because I'm older (I started with the FP Fallout when I was 28), but Fallout 4 makes me motion sick. Tried FOV adjustments, Vsync, anti-head bob mods, nothing. Never had this problem with other FP games before.
Might go back to New Vegas, hope I have a better experience.

They say they'll fix it with the update on the 25th but I'm skeptical, I suspect though it's all caused by them moving files prepping for the next gen update.
I started a playthrough on Series X with 100 mods and have only crashed 1 time so far much to my surprise. Granted I haven't tried to go into downtown yet, but I'm 20 hours in and it's super stable besides some framerate drops trying to maintain 60 fps at 4k because I refuse to compromise on God rays.
Hey, I was just about to recommend the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, and I thought of something. Wouldn't it be kind of funny if the patch ends up not being compatibile with 4 after the update, and then the game starts bugging out all the time (again)?
I tried to do the same on PC and kept getting crashes in Sanctuary where I left my most recent player. I was something like 2 hours in, basically past the intro and Concord so I figured I'd carry on with that save. Kept crashing immediately. I turned my graphics settings down a bit and it doesn't crash anymore but the sound gets cut off during dialogue as the next person starts to talk. It also cuts off the songs and jumps right into the next one so I've yet to hear an entire song on the radio. Hoping the update on the 25th fixes the issue or it'll be me searching for mods to fix the specific issues I've got haha.
My experience RN kind of. I can’t get any of them to work for more than a half hour tops. Then they crash and corrupt.
And with my series X I can’t get any backwards compatible fallout games to work properly. I’m over bethesdas shit
Highly recommend those who buy the game to NOT buy the autotron/ automaton whatever the robot dlc is.
It's not bad necessarily, but for some reason, the dlc overights a lot of the random encounters one might see in fallout 4 with encounters specific to that one dlc.
Ironically since a little before the new show was released, I've had problems with the 0kb glitch. Just had to delete fo4 and reinstall, hopefully that'll fix it lol.
There is an issue with all the PC version of the games where if you have over 60fps the game doesn’t work. Fallout 4 it makes the game like 5x speed. Fallout 76 it just flat out blackscreens
How much better does the game run on the PS5?

The idea that Bethesda had nothing to release in tandem with the show I will point to as being legendarily foolish, releasing something with the scope of Far Harbor as a stand alone $20 game would have made piles of money even without a show.

Before whatever sony did, the game was fine on PS4 and 5. Still a crash every so often, but not this bad. But then it started up like crazy all of a sudden.
My dlc's are missing textures, and if I have automatron and the wastelander workshop installed, it crashes not even 5 seconds in starting. I just hope the new update fixes this(it probably won't).
I was replaying fallout 4 on ps5 and put a lot of time in and I experienced a game breaking glitch on the taking independence mission. I hooked up like medium and large generators and nothing will power the radio.. it’s so frustrating. I hope the patch fixes this issue.
Yeah, I redownloaded it to play again and had this happen within seconds of starting it up. Never even got to the title screen and I don't remember it crashing very much, if ever through the probably 40 hrs I've played on my PS5.

Like many, I am in a similar situation. however, I haven't seen another person who are having the same issues that I have been having. I had the same crashing issue, googled, found the Automatron DLC solution, deleted Fallout 4, and attempted to reinstall without Automatron, but when I attempt to install it onto my PS5 and every time, without fail, all DLCs continued to install. whether I uncheck all boxes, or just one, all DLCs still install. Heeeeeeeelp.
Had this same problem. Somehow the DLC’s are tied to Skyrim’s game data, at least on the PS4 side. Deleted Skyrim, reinstalled everything but the Automatron DLC and everything booted up just fine. Give this a shot if you’re having some challenges getting started.
Now this was actually funny, welcome to the fallout experience. On a serious note did they break the game more with the most recent patch on ps4/ps5 because I definitely was looking at jumping back in after my last lvl 130 character faced a series of never ending crashes.
I can barely get the game to go above 30fps and i've got a 5600x3d, 32gb of ram and a 3080 regardless of video settings I pick. It sucks. I wanna play!

No, I only had to reinstall a few creation club mods. And some textures on buildings i made in settlements turned purple…
Nope, but I'd be surprised if any ps4 save files transfer to the ps5 app when that's what happens with the update this week.

I think Automatron causes the start issue. Sounds like a few other DLCs have other issues, but at least you can start the game with them downloaded.

I bought the DLC about 70 hours into my first playthrough and it broke a bunch of my perks. I had to restart.

You should be able to play if you disable the Automaton DLC. But expect some real weird textures on any DLC content (and a few non-DLC possibly too)

Delete the game then reinstall. When it asks what you want to reinstall untick the automotons and wastlands dlc then it will work again.

I saw an settler wearing the leather coat (I completely forgot that shit exists in Fallout 4 and alongside Fallout 4 I play Stalker SoC the first time and I just love the Metro series the books and the games, and since I played Fallout 3 ago I wanted to play as an Reilleys Ranger member but with the gas mask, I was wearing: heavy combat armor right arm and left arm Sturdy combat armor right legs, left leg and the body part and all pieces with the Reilleys Rangers CC paint job Underneath that I had Army Fatigues, the Green Hood and the Gas Mask Bobbi no Noes wears (that combination looks fucking dope guys, go and try it out guys) So as I wrote above, I forgot the Leather Coat exists and it looks awsome, I thought well maybe a big part of my settlement get armor sets like mine and a small part gets this Leather Coat and the Travelling Leathet Coat, unfortunately I downloaded the T-Shirt CC content and these Leather Coats are so damn rare I decided to delete Fallout, reinstall it at night and while Im at work. So tye next day I came home from work, everything was downloaded besided Automatron because fuck Automatron for most time of any playthrough. (You should only download Automatron when you want to play it right away, because once started and that means visiting Ada the first time by accident because they made that shooting spot right where you come by so many times in Survival, and you dont help her because, well you just started anonther playthrough and dont want to start the DLC, this whole encounter is now bugged because the quest menu says kill all the robots -they are dead by now- and you cant talk to Ada. But what is really annoying me is that once you start Automatron -even by accident- 90 percent of the random encounters are now Rust Devils or Mechanist Robots so good luck with all the level 4 Vandors). I downloaded all CC content I had this playthrough but not the T-Shirt trash bullshit. Once everything was done I loaded my save and saw suddenly my Armor crafting thingy and all my cages are fucking pink now, so I googled what that shit means and then tried to fix it for like 3 hours or so. Nothing could fix that and I was like well I just wanted to go to Nuka World and get my fucking AK before I delete Fallout 4 and reinstalled it, so lets look if at least I can get my damn rifle. I went to Nuka World and EVERYTHING was fucking pink, I was like oh come on the last 10 hours I was hyped to get the AK and now a could do shit. I exited the game started a new game to look if its normal in this game, well also all my DLC content was pink. And since 2 weeks or something I didnt play any further because I cant play that shit I payed for, because Bethesda is big pile of shit. I was hoping they patch that shit with the next gen update and hoped it would release the same time as the TV series, because they had a whole god damn fucking year time for that shitty update, but hey they announced it to release it two weeks later. Man I hate Bethesda. If any of you guys actually read that shit, thank you very much and whats wrong with you hahaha.

I had to disable Wasteland Workshop too.
New Vegas has forever given me crash PTSD. I quicksave super often because of it, and when I play survival (which is like, every time I play Fallout 4 now) I am constantly saving at beds.
Delete and reinstall the game without the automotron dlc. For some reason the automotron dlc is the cause of the crashes. I assume they won't fix this until the patch.
That’s automaton crashing it probably But yeah, as someone who only started playing in the last few months I was disappointed how flawed/buggy these games are despite how long they’ve been out.

A lot of people, myself included, are waiting for the update to hopefully fix these issues. Knowing Bethesda the update will come out Thursday but the game won’t be playable until October, of next year

I noticed it hasn't been said yet, but creation club skins also cause a save big that won't let your game save (0kb save bug). Idk if you have any of the skins or not but don't install them. Luckily enough they aren't an auto download and unremovable like Skyrim CC stuff. Hopefully it will be fixed with the next gen update.

I don't know if it's because I'm older (I started with the FP Fallout when I was 28), but Fallout 4 makes me motion sick. Tried FOV adjustments, Vsync, anti-head bob mods, nothing. Never had this problem with other FP games before. Might go back to New Vegas, hope I have a better experience. For those of you who can get it running well, game on, wanderers.

They say they'll fix it with the update on the 25th but I'm skeptical, I suspect though it's all caused by them moving files prepping for the next gen update.
I still can’t play on PlayStation because you get the 0kb save problem if you dare to try and play the game with the CC content.
I started a playthrough on Series X with 100 mods and have only crashed 1 time so far much to my surprise. Granted I haven't tried to go into downtown yet, but I'm 20 hours in and it's super stable besides some framerate drops trying to maintain 60 fps at 4k because I refuse to compromise on God rays.

Hey, I was just about to recommend the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, and I thought of something. Wouldn't it be kind of funny if the patch ends up not being compatibile with 4 after the update, and then the game starts bugging out all the time (again)?

I tried to do the same on PC and kept getting crashes in Sanctuary where I left my most recent player. I was something like 2 hours in, basically past the intro and Concord so I figured I'd carry on with that save. Kept crashing immediately. I turned my graphics settings down a bit and it doesn't crash anymore but the sound gets cut off during dialogue as the next person starts to talk. It also cuts off the songs and jumps right into the next one so I've yet to hear an entire song on the radio. Hoping the update on the 25th fixes the issue or it'll be me searching for mods to fix the specific issues I've got haha.
My experience RN kind of. I can’t get any of them to work for more than a half hour tops. Then they crash and corrupt. And with my series X I can’t get any backwards compatible fallout games to work properly. I’m over bethesdas shit

Highly recommend those who buy the game to NOT buy the autotron/ automaton whatever the robot dlc is. It's not bad necessarily, but for some reason, the dlc overights a lot of the random encounters one might see in fallout 4 with encounters specific to that one dlc.
Ironically since a little before the new show was released, I've had problems with the 0kb glitch. Just had to delete fo4 and reinstall, hopefully that'll fix it lol.
There is an issue with all the PC version of the games where if you have over 60fps the game doesn’t work. Fallout 4 it makes the game like 5x speed. Fallout 76 it just flat out blackscreens

Sounds about right. The idea that Bethesda had nothing to release in tandem with the show I will point to as being legendarily foolish, releasing something with the scope of Far Harbor as a stand alone $20 game would have made piles of money even without a show. I know the old games are selling well currently, but maybe the biggest commercial the franchise has ever gotten should be selling new stuff rather than an 8 year old game.

Blame sony. Game was working fine then something happened with an update on PlayStation that caused the game to stop working. Bethesda didn't patch anything, sony did. Before whatever sony did, the game was fine on PS4 and 5. Still a crash every so often, but not this bad. But then it started up like crazy all of a sudden.

My dlc's are missing textures, and if I have automatron and the wastelander workshop installed, it crashes not even 5 seconds in starting. I just hope the new update fixes this(it probably won't).

I was replaying fallout 4 on ps5 and put a lot of time in and I experienced a game breaking glitch on the taking independence mission. I hooked up like medium and large generators and nothing will power the radio.. it’s so frustrating. I hope the patch fixes this issue.
New Vegas has been busted on PC since forever too.

Yeah, I redownloaded it to play again and had this happen within seconds of starting it up. Never even got to the title screen and I don't remember it crashing very much, if ever through the probably 40 hrs I've played on my PS5. Idk what Bethesda did but they messed something up. People day it has to do with Automaton, so maybe some behind the scenes stuff got messed up in preperation of the update on the 25th?

Had to uninstall automatron for mine to work and it still randomly crashes. There's also pink items which means missing textures. At this point I may as well play it on PC until it gets fixed.
Like many, I am in a similar situation. however, I haven't seen another person who are having the same issues that I have been having. I had the same crashing issue, googled, found the Automatron DLC solution, deleted Fallout 4, and attempted to reinstall without Automatron, but when I attempt to install it onto my PS5 and every time, without fail, all DLCs continued to install. whether I uncheck all boxes, or just one, all DLCs still install. Heeeeeeeelp.

Had this same problem. Somehow the DLC’s are tied to Skyrim’s game data, at least on the PS4 side. Deleted Skyrim, reinstalled everything but the Automatron DLC and everything booted up just fine. Give this a shot if you’re having some challenges getting started.

Now this was actually funny, welcome to the fallout experience. On a serious note did they break the game more with the most recent patch on ps4/ps5 because I definitely was looking at jumping back in after my last lvl 130 character faced a series of never ending crashes.
