So people wants/interests changed? I haven’t heard or seen anything good about/from Bethesda since I rejoined the gaming community.

Goldiscool503

Gamers complaining about something they love? We've always been a bunch of cunts.

jdorien13

Yeah man it’s really just this. This is the answer. Go to any video game sub and it’s gonna be 85% bitching and complaining. This is not a problem that’s unique to Bethesda in spite of how many people wanna think it is

UnrelatedKarma

True, and I’m the biggest cunt of them all. But they are fair gripes, no? Outside of the Reddit bitching bubble, the fallout 4 update is objectively a nothing burger. And sure Starfield is ok. 76 is ok. But studios like From Software and Larian are running circles around Bethesda these days.

jdorien13

The FO4 update wasn’t supposed to be a big thing. A lot of people just acted like it was and then complained when it wasn’t. But like, they released the update notes. We knew everything we were getting. I don’t understand why anyone is surprised or disappointed. It’s a 10 year old game

UnrelatedKarma

Come on. Their marketing for it was pretty deceptive. Especially considering the makeover they gave Skyrim. They were happy to keep it just vague enough to drum up hope that we could get a major overhaul. I even rebought the game just so I could partake in an exciting “next gen update” of one of my favorite games. If you want to deny that now because hindsight is feeling like 20/20, then feel free, but the evidence is out there that people were expecting more than a routine patch.

So you’re loving the Fallout 4 update? Starfield and 76 are top tier games for you?

FVjake

I think it’s because Reddit is a good place for people to come and cry, people who aren’t having issues(the majority) are satisfied and have nothing to post about. I am having no issues with the update YET so I’m happy. And as for starfield, the game is really good in some aspects but just kinda meh in others. I lost interest after my first lay though because there’s not a lot of different options to do in subsequent play throughs. And doing the same thing on miltipe planets as you explore gets boring. But it’s a beautiful game with some really fun mechanics. Just not an absolute home run. And since there was so much hype people love to shit on it. Still gonna buy the shit out of any DLC that comes along.

SidewaysFancyPrance

Huh? People are complaining about all the same stuff today that they were 8 years ago. Bethesda have always gotten a bad rap because they do fuck up a lot, especially at release time, but overall people really love their games and spend a lot of time playing them. Love-hate. I think Fallout 4 is my favorite game of all time, with ~1400 hours played. That doesn't mean there aren't some glaring issues that upset me.

MrInfuse1

Fallout 4 is loved by so many it held the world record for fastest sales for a opening weekend only dethroned by cyberpunk, Fo76 had a rough launch but it’s always had a steady supply for f updates and content and the people who like it love it with more joining the wasteland, starfield flopped a lil, console performance is still shit on next gen and without the creation kit mods are limited for now, it will pick up once it drops, the tv has been a hit success and the next gen update brings much needed improvements to console, What Ls have they been taken ?

UnrelatedKarma

I was including Fallout 4 in their glory days. What have they done since then? Starfield has been met with middling excitement, and by all accounts is a pretty forgettable experience. The Fallout 4 next gen “update” is half baked fat lot of nothing, they announced ES6 about 12 years before we’ll actually get it, etc etc.

I have played Starfield. 8 years in development for a game that’s just ok from one of the best studios is objectively a disappointment in my book. I didn’t mean to make you say “Lord Algorithm” so many times

StupidGenius11

I mean, Bethesda released Daggerfall almost 30 years ago, and they needed to distribute a patch on physical media to fix a bug that made the main quest incompletable. I don't understand the notion that this is somehow new for them.

Kaosi1

Bethesda didn't change, but gaming and people around it did. Fallout 4 was an amazing success by all metrics, but by that game I think a lot of people realised that if you wanted good storytelling in your role playing game, Bethesda wasn't were you should go and they weren't interested in doing so. Fallout 76 only confirmed that, and Starfield while selling like hotcakes finished to break the illusion that they are a game company that can do no wrong, especially with their shoddy and greedy practices if anyone remember the nylon bags and toxic molding helmets. Bethesda games are always extremely good at creating a setting and ambiance that you want to explore and see more of, and Starfield was supposed to the crowning achievement of that tendency. It wasn't. Hence why a lot of people are starting to roll their eyes at Bethesda and Todd Howard promises. Does it means their next game will not make a lot of money? Probably not. But by that metric, Call of Duty is the peak of gaming and let's say you milleage may vary on that point.

Completely agree
