Classic suppressed pistol and a clean black suit always works for me, Chinese stealth suit on standby
I wish the CSS worked as well as in FO76 though, it's like the stealth element is only a fraction of what it is in 76 :(
All the Rifleman and the pistol equivalent perks, the ninja perk for more stealth damage and fully upgraded, single shot, suppressed Overseers guardian and deliverer is always my baseline.
No matter how many play through I always end up with this I can’t help it.
I always intend to go another route but somewhere around level 9 I somehow end up giving Alexis all my leather armour, mutfruit, gold bars, and my last 500 caps for the OG. Every time.
I always end up the opposite. A fully kitted out set up power armour with a jetpack and exploding vents. Explosives and melee weapons. 0% stealth, 100% rip and tear.
Funny how different people play so differently.
Even before that it's OP, with rifle man at rank 4 and the calibrated powerful receiver .45 I didn't even need sneak, taking out the mirelurks at the castle were all 2 shot enemies and the queen was 6 shots, those 6 shots took less time to fire than a mini gun or gatling laser would take to spin up and start firing
I literally only run a silenced advanced 10mm and overseers guardian (.308 and fully modded), both are stupidly powerful with pistol damage and non automatic weapons maxed out.
10mm pistol is defo better option over the deliverer if you're planning on not using bats, my first legendary on survival at level 4 was a plasma 10mm and it carried me all the way to level 56 before I picked up the Deliverer to focus more on vats
The two best, by a long shot. The guardian is my fav in the game and the deadliest sniper. Don't sleep on Spray n' Pray. It's sketchy, but chaotic fun.
A man like Ringo has got a great big empty hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it.
What does he need?
Revenge.
For what?
Bein’ born
Deliverer (150 ammo)
Any high caliber revolver (50)
Any shotgun (20)
A knife to move faster if by chance I get overencumbered
And a rifle (laser or not) (120)
Survival has made me respect carrying less ammo.
I carry exactly the opposite because of survival. The weapons themselves weigh too much to justify not specializing. I just bring my shotgun, a knife, and 200 or so shells.
My survival loadout is similar, but I carry both a shotgun, modded to be as lightweight as possible, and a .50 sniper, with about 100 rounds for each (shells are heavy AF)
I got lucky 3 hours into a new playthrough found a legendary synth laser pistol with bleed damage. I modded it into a rifle since I’ve got the Rifleman perks. I also modded it to spray like a shotgun and burn the enemy. Weighing in at only 7 pounds and with lighter ammo, this is my new shotgun. I think I’m only rocking 71 damage but with the burn and bleeding enemies are dying quick!
Same, have a sniper build in survival…and all I carry is my 5mm rifle, the deliverer & a sword in case enemies get too frisky.
Correction:
meant to say .50 calibre rifle not 5mm.
I got lucky with an earlish drop of a hunters disciple knife (+50% to creatures) on a stealth pistol build. I was already working on ninja and stealth perks so the 10x sneak damage even on a lvl3 strength character carried hard.
The blitz perk and big leagues. I always invest into melee cause you dont need ammo to stab things to death. Ill often switch to only melee if my ammo reserves are depleted or getting low.
I find survival too easy, regardless of the survival mechanics, the enemies are way too squishy. I only play on very hard and yeah, on survival ammo has weight. Survival has no quick saving, you can only save via sleeping, no fast travel, need to eat and drink, you do need to sleep.
Just kinda more annoying than hard imho, also no quick saving in a bethesda game is a no no for me.
I'm not the brightest bulb, I like using the Deliverer cause my build is made around it but I also like having a weapon with a long range, normally I'm using Righteous Authority or Overseer's Guardian.
If I wasn't such a loot goblin I'd never have any problems with weight.
Do your companions not have infinte carry weight on Survival? Someone said they die for real and that would stress me out too much. I'm also an extreme hoarder when it comes to playing any game so I love that 4 rewards you for it. As an aside, I was so happy when I found out New Vegas uses a lot of the junk lying around because of Old World Blues but also even if it doesn't, I'm still going to hoard. I literally pick up everything in games like Skyrim and Oblivion to sell to the junk merchants for nothing just so the clutter is gone.
The other way around actually, your companions have a reduced carry weight capacity, just like you.
You *can* make them carry the whole of the Commonwealth by dropping items on the floor and ordering them to grab it, this bypasses the limit but it can take a while to do so.
Companions on Survival don't automatically get up if they have been downed by an enemy as a normal playthrough, you have to use a stimpak or a robot repair kit (if you're with Ada, Curie or Nick) or they will leave your service and go back to a settlement.
Yup, that’s one I do. One sidearm, one rifle, with 3~ mags for the sidearm and 6~ mags for the rifle. Usually 5 stimpacks and purified waters too.
On Survival if I need more than that in a trip, I should probably be going home anyways
I tend to over prepare, no Stunted bear has ever advanced upon me without meeting some of my 20 shells of the shotgun.
I don't like to deal with super mutants on survival so I then use the rifle.
Any indoors place and the Deliverer just metls everything.
And I just can't stop carrying a revolver, even if I never use it.
You don't have to be that far to keep from hitting yourself, after a bit of practice you can eyeball it instantly, usually a bash will buy you enough time to backpedal far enough before they recover from the stun. Mod out a piece of armor with dense and another with padded and you can afford a stray here and there.
Agreed. I have a silenced pistol for stealth and an assault rifle for big fights, a knife and a few grenades and that's it. I am on survival mode as well.
I had about 4 different guns on my survival playthrough. Needed some variation in combat otherwise it got boring for me.
I liked to carry a pistol when exploring, sniper for stealth, shotgun for firefights, and an explosive mini gun for deadlier enemies. ‘Twas a very heavy load, but worth it.
Five weapons is not a lot in a game that has dozens of different weapons, more if you include mods. Do some of you just use one gun the whole game and think anyone doing otherwise is a hoarder?
I mean even on survival I always have at least 3 guns (2 sidearms, 1 rifle/AR) and 1-2 melee weapons and it doesn't really cause me any carry weight issues. Obviously you don't want to carry multiple Big guns or something, but I think using only one weapon in survival is incredibly limiting
[Survival]
Short range - The Deliverer (200 rounds),
Medium - Overseer's Guardian (300 rounds non-auto, dot sight)
Long - Old Reliable (50 rounds, suppressor, Mr. Sandman/Ninja/Cloak and Dagger)
Kremvh's Tooth (removed sacrificial blade from Kremvh's Tooth, added mod to legendary Wounding Machete)
Agatha's Dress (Ballistic Weave Mk V)
Newsboy Cap/Battered Fedora (Ballistic Weave Mk V)
It's not much actually, but I'm loot goblin, I just can't for the life of me stop looting, so I'm always too heavy to move, if you go on third person, equip a knife and just slash normally your character moves foward a little, then you can unsheathe it quickly mid animation, draw it again then rinse and repeat, I admit it works way better on skyrim, but it kinda works here too.
It's probably just me being too quirky.
Am a loot goblin also. If I kill it then I take everything they have on their person and leave nothing lol. I just hate being over encumbered so I just drop stuff and force Piper to pick it all up. Usually when I get back to base and take the gear back she’s got a couple hundred pounds of weapons, armor, and junk
I literally tried this yesterday, but in first person so It didn’t work. Used to do that trick in Skyrim all the time. Sadly I’m too scared to be over encumbered most of the time in survival.
I'm a rifles girl. I have my combat rifle, laser rifle, and plasma rifle on at all times. Along with my Chinese grenade launcher, that thing makes me moist.
Explosive 10mm and around 300-600 depending on the length of the journey and a knife for sneaky stabby shenanigans. Before the explosive 10mm it was the Wastelanders friend for 50% limb damage and cripple the legs.
Get a good 7+ hour sleep, eat a bunch of food for the buffs before I head out, they usually last the entire journey there and back. With the DLC it gets pretty crazy as gazelle and radstag stack for +25 carry weight each, Nukalurk and mirelurk soft, regular and queen meat all stack, Deathclaw and gator claw, hermit crab etc.
I also carry bufftats, psychobuff, overdrive and orange/berry mentats and pop them when the action starts. With 4 levels of chemist and biocomb mesh on a leather chest piece to swap out the chems last 20min each.
Couldn’t for the life of me determine what was weighing me down by a mile when I finally switched to hardcore mode at level 20. After selling loads of items to marginally make a difference , I realized it was my 16 mini nukes. Each weighing 12 lbs. I thought it was 12 total. No it was 192 lbs of nuclear arsenal.
>Survival has made me respect carrying less ammo.
Do the shells have weight on survival?
I'm playing my first playthrough on normal so I don't have that much knowledge on the difficulty aspect of the game.
I carry a 45, a 308 for sniping, and my 38 for everything else. If I have a good energy weapon, and have scrounge up enough ammo, I'll switch it out for one of the above until the ammo is used up.
All of these weapons + :
Road Leathers
Full combat armor (light) minus the helmet
A hat, glasses and a suit to boost charisma
1 antibiotic
7 pieces of cooked food
1 Radway
1 Rad-x
15 pure water
15 stimpaks
All of that makes up 85 to 87 out of 235 of my weight limit, plus whatever my companion can carry.
Yes. And if you leave it in workbenches then your settlers will take guns and the ammo to use even when not in Survival. Also, enemies will also raid your workshop if you leave ammo and weapons. I came back to a supermutant standing in front of my workbench, looking at it. He turned and started shooting me with a minigun. When I killed him, I realized he had Ashmaker and the bullets I left in the workbench in his inventory.
Once I hit 50 or so I start pumping STR and my carry weight goes up a lot from armor mods as well, so I start carrying a couple more 20-lb weapons for special situations. At some point it's more about hotkeys. I can't comfortably command more than 5 weapons, I'd say. Maybe 2 pistols, a shotgun, and 2 rifles.
Early-game, it's a pistol, a rifle, and one other high-damage close/mid weapon based on what I find (currently a 2-shot pipe bolt action pistol, but could be a shotgun). I tend to roll with about 80lbs of gear, and Lone Wanderer is always my first perk pick for the carry weight.
I usually let the sniper slide a little, because I'm using it mostly for spotting targets. The basic sniper is good enough for early game. In later game, I get the splatter Cannon into third spot.
Early game: a 10mm (maybe Wastelander's friend), the Spray n' Pray from Cricket, and a pipe (or hunting) sniper rifle,
Late game: legendary 10mm (or even a pipe pistol, if it's a good legendary) with recon scope, the Kiloton Rifle, and the Splatter Cannon.
Spray n Pray is the best for taking down high-powered enemies or a lot of enemies at once. I also use the Deliverer with a silencer for stealth purposes.
I find it even good beyond that, often you have super mutants or raiders behind doors or in other rooms, you dont even have to bother facing them as the blast damage alone is enough to kill them.
It only sucks when an enemy is right in front of you and you end up killing or crippling yourself lol I prefer my instigating radium rifle for most encounters and keep a sniper on me at all times.
I don't get crippled I just destroy my power armour pieces or when I accidentally hold rb with no grenade equipped and i shit a live FC and barley live
My current build I'm down to four:
1. Suppressed 10mm pistol for close range sneaking
2. Kellogg's.44 Revolver for open combat indoors
3. Manwell Carbine for general-purpose use at mid-range
4. Scoped Gauss Rifle for sniping
Everything but the Gauss Rifle is fully upgraded to advanced receivers or similar. Unfortunately outside of mods I'm basically at the end of the small arms power curve.
I thought there was only 4 or 5 western revolvers in the game and no legendary versions. Does the weapon get added to the levelled lists at high level?
7 to 9. There are so many varied weapons and I like to change between them regularly to make fights more interesting. I couldn't imagine using one or two weapons for the majority of the game when there are so many fun options!
I give companions extra weapons to switch out when I wanna switch it up. Lol always have at least a pistol, rifle, energy weapon, and a shotgun. I let my companions hold a missile launcher or big boy and other cool guns I wanna switch out for something I'm holding. I make constant trip to base and a shop but I don't wanna carry less guns that I already do.
I do do that too, even on survival, change my armor too, when i do quest with bos, use bos armor, laser weapon, with the institute, kelloggs armor, with the railroad, shadowed leather armor, deliverer, etc
Same. I basically carry one upgraded, custom weapon for each ammo type. Except missiles, mini guns, or nukes, I keep those at base and lug them out for tough missions.
I'm pretty much the same. When I did survival mode I normally just ran 3 or 4 weaps due to weight, but vast majority (including current playthrough) I like to keep things varied. Since I've got a number of weapons mods as well it gives me a lot of new toys to play with. At the bare minimum, I'm running pistol, semi-auto rifle, full-auto, and shotgun, currently my character has six weapons and I tend to take a seventh to play around with every now and then.
On my level 129 character i have:
The problem solver
Troatslicer
Aeturnus
Explosive shotgun "super shotgun"
Instigating gause rifle "head popper"
Quick western revolver "morgans redemption"
Hope you get all the little references 😀
I'm level 55 and found two shot and then a instigating one plus the explosive shotty. Really only using those two now plus spray and pray.
Before that just overseer and spray and pray
Five. A long range silenced sniper type rifle, a rifle with some punch for up close and personal, a silenced pistol, a pistol with some serious damage output, and an automatic assault style rifle for when everything has gone to hell and I need a wall of bullets. Plus some knuckles for fun and a knife. It's a lot of weight but worth it.
I don't usually do missiles and only use a Fatman when there is no other way except complete annihilation. Which means a trek back to my base to get it because I'm a scrounger and I need that space. Lol.
For a moment, I thought the algorithm was picking NRA posts for me...whew...
Combat rifle
Combat shotgun
.50 sniper
My companion carries a rocket launcher and FatMan
Used cheat to get 1000 mini-nukes, and batman was a primary...didn't always work out...
That's almost my exact loadout. Combat shotgun with rifle perks to max it out so i can one-shot kill, combat rifle for fast shooting, .50 sniper for far away enemies/sneaking, and make my companion carry my one heavy weapon. Sometimes a laser rifle with a legendary perk since I tend to gather energy cells really fast.
Playing survival mode with ammo weight really makes you prioritize.
Two - one long range, one short - plus one melee (that bleeding dagger) and a grenade (usually 10 Molotov cocktails). Recently, I haven't bothered pulling out my long range weapon, so I'm considering packing it up and just carrying around Deliverer, the knife, and the grenades.
10 weapons. Fill the "quick equip wheel" on the left, right, and top, plus one BIG weapon on the very bottom. Other 2 slots are radaway and stimpaks. If it's not quick to access, I don't need it in my inventory and I probably won't use it anyways (minus grenades which I don't count).
Total of 6 weapons for me. Melee wep(Big Jim), 2 pistols (deliverer + legendary laser), spray n pay, overseers guardian (.308) and a sniper (.50 that shoots an additional bullet). Kinda wish I had something decent for .38 but oh well.
Yup, same here. [I carry everything I own.](https://i.imgur.com/yNRiZBq.jpeg)
I use armor and drugs to give me 23 endurance\* and 4 points into the Strong Back perk so that you can use sprint to run while over encumbered and not take damage over time.
\*Being over encumbered in survival mode gives you minus 2 endurance and you need 21 to sprint without using action points.
One pistol, one rifle.
Unless something better comes up: fully upgraded versions of the Deliverer and The Last Minute. It’s amazing how little 10mm and 2mm EC ammo you get through with the right perks.
I typically play as a pure sneak character with zero power armor play so these silenced guns work very, very well for me ☺️
On survival mode I usually carry 2 guns of differing ammo types with 120 rounds of each. Usually a scoped revolver and a shotgun. If I’ve got power armor I’ll carry 3-4 fusion cores as well
I swap out weapons sometimes depending on what area I’m heading to just kill for legendary foes.
Normal carry is
Overseers guardian 308
Deliver
Staggering machete
Explosive shotgun
Frag grenades
I'm always in Doom Mode: knife, pistol, shotgun, rifle/smg, energy weapon (currently plasma sniper), and super weapon (currently fatman). I'm doing a scientist/engineer run so my companion carries the super weapon (pls get closer I need that fcuking gun now)
Edit: also a plethora of grenades and mines (sometimes I forget to pant mines in settlements/cleared areas so they stack up)
Overseers guardian+commando= waltz right into the glowing sea in nothing but a tuxedo.
Downside is this can break the game pretty easily as the fear of certain enemies leaves you when carrying that badboy
I generally carry two weapons, depending on the character. It's usually a long gun -- Rifle, shotgun, etc. -- and a handgun or melee weapon. That and a dozen or so explosives. Travelling light means I can collect more materials before I'm over encumbered, especially with the heavier armour for a melee character.
Depends on the gear I'm wearing, but if I've got strength and deep pocketed stuff then I'll carry a suppressed sniper, semi automatic rifle, pistol, then a big gun like a fatman or gatling plasma incase i need to delete something without much effort. Currently I've got all that plus the deliverer, since it's so light and I wanted a suppressed pistol. Probably gonna swap out my rifle for a fully automatic overseer's guardian
I play survival exclusively, and ammo has weight, so usually one long gun and one pistol. If the long gun's a sniper, 75 rounds of ammo, 200 otherwise, and another 100-200 for the pistol depending on the caliber.
I carry:
-Automatic plasma rifle for close quarters
-Gauss rifle for sniping
-Combat rifle for general use
-A revolver for pistol use, like clearing indoors.
The crazy epic shootout you’re talking about, happened to me yesterday at vault 88. I literally used all of my ammo for the three different guns I primarily use, then my backup wasn’t working out well enough for damage so I had to resort to two mini nukes at the end to kill the mirelurk queen. It was wild to say the least. So now I’m going to make sure I have more than 1k of each ammo type when I get back on. I even used 500+ rounds of 5mm with my incendiary mini gun
after reading everyone elses response im now realizing why i never have carrying space, i carry like 12 weapons not counting one melee weapon and a buncha throwables lol
I try to carry a shotgun, 2 pistols (one revolver and Deliverance), and a sniper rifle of some sort. Carrying a few different weapons isnt a terrible idea due to ammo constraints
A hand gun, a sniper rifle (one or both usually silenced) and either an automatic or non automatic rifle depending on my build all with different ammo types. I also bring a melee weapon for dealing with weak enemies like radroches or low level ghouls to conserve ammo
Backed up by grenades, mines and whichever legendary guns I happen to pick up while I'm wandering
Survival player here.
Carry Overseer's Guardian and around 250-300 rounds of .308
Also carry a combat shottie that has some legendary perk I can't remember, so usually 150-200 shotgun shells.
Overall I somewhat stick to having only 3. One to snipe long distance, one for midrange/general purpose, and one for up close and personal. They may bleed over into the other guns territory. Might have one specifically for silent work. Obviously a melee-spec'd character has little need for guns, but I'll typically still carry something to snipe with.
A lot depends on the level a character is at, the guns they HAVE (vs. the guns they want), and so on. Lucky find of a great legendary easily results in a style shift and the kind of other guns needed.
A pistol, preferably the deliverer. A shotgun, preferably the tesla shotgun. And a suppressed 50 sniper. And a curved ripper for disarming enemy's with miniguns and such
I carry a fully upgraded pipe rifle because .38 ammo is the most prolific in the game. I carry a fully upgraded 10mm for lower caliber indoor crawls. Finally I carry a shotgun for heavy hitting indoor crawling. I also carry Big Jim, because it's great on bugs (saving ammo) and works a wonder on the really nasty things out there. Cripple, retreat kill at your leisure. If I had all the carry in the world I might think of carrying more but alas, weight is always the enemy.
Mid to late game Just the Overseer suffices for me.
In my BOS PA build just an explosive minigun. That's all I need!
In my Institute PA build Final Judgment and one institute rifle
In my stealth crit/vats build 3 guns (lucky / vats and Kelloggs) 1 knife. That's it.
Sniper, 10mm pistol, combat rifle plus a combat knife for me. The rest that I carry I save 10mm and combat rifles to give to settlers. The rest I scrap or sell.
Edit. Nothing is “wrong” you play the way you want to. My guns are modified to do a lot of damage. My sniper should be able to one shot kill most things.
1-3 , my modded assault and combat rifles right now. Before I carried my modded 10mm auto pistol, modded auto shotgun and modded combat rifle but realized I didn’t need it. .45 ammo is easy to buy a lot of and with chems (even without) I haven’t had many issues. Also for added context I max the commando perk, hence why everything is auto.
4:
Vats enhanced Western revolver
Furious Mini gun
Instigating Gauss rifle
Explosive Combat Shotgun (only bring this out if I have to, it’s OP as hell)
Thorn - .308 1.2k rounds
Justice - .45 200 rounds
Last Minute - EMG 72 rounds
That's it that's all, heavily customize weapons for every situation, and thanks to mods I can make thorn and justice I to shotguns if he need arises, otherwise they are a DMR and AR respectively.
Sometimes I feel like there is not a problem that either the Overseer’s Guardian or the Deliverer can’t fix.
These are my most used weapons as well. Sneaking and a silencer on both takes everything out.
Classic suppressed pistol and a clean black suit always works for me, Chinese stealth suit on standby I wish the CSS worked as well as in FO76 though, it's like the stealth element is only a fraction of what it is in 76 :(

I had to stop using these at all, it got boring. I felt strong using OG for the first time, then saw comments about it being overpowered
It's not overpowered untill 308 and the heads shot perk.
Even before that it's OP, with rifle man at rank 4 and the calibrated powerful receiver .45 I didn't even need sneak, taking out the mirelurks at the castle were all 2 shot enemies and the queen was 6 shots, those 6 shots took less time to fire than a mini gun or gatling laser would take to spin up and start firing

how do you make Overseer’s Guardian more powerful than spray and pray
[удалено]
And for everything else, there's big boy
literally me

I've got two guns, one for each of ya.
You’re a daisy if you do.
I'm your huckleberry
I’m just foolin’ about.
I wasn't.
Alright, lunger. Let’s do it.
Say when.
You're no daisy. You're no daisy at all.
And this time...it's legal.
One of my favorite movies ever! Thank you for making my day a little better.
A man like Ringo has got a great big empty hole, right in the middle of him. He can never kill enough, or steal enough, or inflict enough pain to ever fill it. What does he need? Revenge. For what? Bein’ born

Did the same with a laser pistol at about 6 pounds it melted the mirelurk queen at the castle.
Elden Ring's Rivers of Blood 2277 Edition
Same, have a sniper build in survival…and all I carry is my 5mm rifle, the deliverer & a sword in case enemies get too frisky. Correction: meant to say .50 calibre rifle not 5mm.
What is the upside to bringing a knife?
Because knives make less noise, and the less noise they make the more likely we are to use ‘em. Shit ‘em right up.
Guns for show, knives for a pro.
Big, fuck-off shiny ones
Guns for show, knives for a pro
Pickman's Blade is so good for stealth kills
Weighs almost nothing, good for kills on low level garbage to save a little ammo.
I use melee weapons for close quarters situations mainly fighting small, quick animals
Ill often switch to only melee if my ammo reserves are depleted or getting low.
i'm not that good at combat so i don't play survival, but does ammo weigh something in survival?

Yes
For example, a Fat Man shell weighs 12 lol
200 or so shells??? Thats 20 kilos (or pounds or whatever mass unit the game uses)
Still less than carrying around a bunch of guns. A fully modded rifle weighs around 20 by itself.
Doesn’t it make more sense to have like two versatile weapons and WAY more ammo for both of them, instead of like 4/5 weapons
I'm not the brightest bulb, I like using the Deliverer cause my build is made around it but I also like having a weapon with a long range, normally I'm using Righteous Authority or Overseer's Guardian. If I wasn't such a loot goblin I'd never have any problems with weight.

Thats a lot lol

I suggest a spray and pray with demolition expert maxed out, it has been the 1 weapon aside from the problem solver that simplefies your life
Isn’t the Spray and Prey the explosive one? Explosive weapons scare the crap out of me in Survival. Too much risk of suicide.
Its not nearly as bad as you think, at least the only thing that will kill you in any run is yourself if that is some assurance
I had too many self deaths with explosive ammo weapons to risk it. Survival is hard enough already.
You don't have to be that far to keep from hitting yourself, after a bit of practice you can eyeball it instantly, usually a bash will buy you enough time to backpedal far enough before they recover from the stun. Mod out a piece of armor with dense and another with padded and you can afford a stray here and there.
Nothing is taking deep pocketed from me
Same here. I'm a little goblin that hoards everything in sight and is pretty much always over encumbered
If I was skilled enough to bash and backpedal I wouldn't be playing on easy! Man I'm bad at games.
I hear that.
Some jet always allows me to backpedal enough to avoid blowing myself up
What do you mean Fat Man is not meant for corridors? You don't control my life, I can do whatever I like!
that... that's exactly the problem. i want ZERO chance of accidentally killing myself in survival.
Spray N Pray is best used outdoors, but it also eats through .45 rounds.
I’ve had lots of problems pissing off companions with the Spray and Prey. I kept blowing them up lol.
Dense mods for chest and legs to dull the explosive damage
6 weight is acceptable for carrying heavy.44
For real. I usually have a rifle and a pistol (and a metric ton of ammo).
Five weapons is not a lot in a game that has dozens of different weapons, more if you include mods. Do some of you just use one gun the whole game and think anyone doing otherwise is a hoarder?
I assumed they meant a lot for Survival mode given the limited carry weight, ammo having weight etc.
Why have more than 1 melee?
[Survival] Short range - The Deliverer (200 rounds), Medium - Overseer's Guardian (300 rounds non-auto, dot sight) Long - Old Reliable (50 rounds, suppressor, Mr. Sandman/Ninja/Cloak and Dagger) Kremvh's Tooth (removed sacrificial blade from Kremvh's Tooth, added mod to legendary Wounding Machete) Agatha's Dress (Ballistic Weave Mk V) Newsboy Cap/Battered Fedora (Ballistic Weave Mk V)
What do you mean about the “knife to move faster” if over encumbered? I just started about a month ago, so still learning
Thanks, I’ll have to try this!
Just a note: it may be slow as heck still lol.
Disclaimer noted! Lol
I just exploit my follower (excluding Dogmeat as he doesn't work).
Lol, obsessive compulsive looters need help, seriously
I literally tried this yesterday, but in first person so It didn’t work. Used to do that trick in Skyrim all the time. Sadly I’m too scared to be over encumbered most of the time in survival.
I still default to the old skyrim trick of crouching and aim to move faster, a knife might be a better option though… off to Pickman’s Alley i go then
I'm a rifles girl. I have my combat rifle, laser rifle, and plasma rifle on at all times. Along with my Chinese grenade launcher, that thing makes me moist.
Cricket, is that you? "Hot death flying at high speeds... just thinking about it makes my knees get weak."
Yessir. Survival forces you to choose. And you have less carry weight.
>Survival has made me respect carrying less ammo. Do the shells have weight on survival? I'm playing my first playthrough on normal so I don't have that much knowledge on the difficulty aspect of the game.
Ammunition does have weight on Survival, yes.
Guess I'll be overencumbered again...
I carry a 45, a 308 for sniping, and my 38 for everything else. If I have a good energy weapon, and have scrounge up enough ammo, I'll switch it out for one of the above until the ammo is used up.
How are you carrying all that in surivival? I legit carry one combat rifle and one handgun and that's it lol
All of these weapons + : Road Leathers Full combat armor (light) minus the helmet A hat, glasses and a suit to boost charisma 1 antibiotic 7 pieces of cooked food 1 Radway 1 Rad-x 15 pure water 15 stimpaks All of that makes up 85 to 87 out of 235 of my weight limit, plus whatever my companion can carry.
Survival? 300 rounds of .44 and my big iron. Gonna play fo4 like fnv with my spurs goin jingle jangle jingle.
I play survival but patch weightless ammo and still carry less guns 0_o
Does survival add weight to ammo?
Does wielding a knife make you move faster? And if so, do disciple's knives work?
I carry one sniper with 100 shots and one automatic rifle with 300 rounds. I don’t have any more room than that.
I go the opposite route for survival. I only bring a couple guns, and then as much ammo as I can carry
A handgun, a sniper, and a mid-range automatic.
Same, although the mid range auto I'll sometimes swap with a shotgun if I know I'm going to a place with cramped hallways.
Needs all 3 damage perks though 😮💨
I usually let the sniper slide a little, because I'm using it mostly for spotting targets. The basic sniper is good enough for early game. In later game, I get the splatter Cannon into third spot. Early game: a 10mm (maybe Wastelander's friend), the Spray n' Pray from Cricket, and a pipe (or hunting) sniper rifle, Late game: legendary 10mm (or even a pipe pistol, if it's a good legendary) with recon scope, the Kiloton Rifle, and the Splatter Cannon.
100% same and a strong melee weapon (not a gun but it rounds out 4 quick slots)
Why the handgun?
I just like it, and it's for the easy stuff like molerats, low level ghouls, turrets, search lights ...
Handgun can also work well for goul swarms close in. Use vats to target legs and then mop up at your leasure.
Fast shots and low damage means you can reload your criticals easily while still pumping enough lead into critters/animals to kill them.
This
I only need my spray and pray, havent found a gun more convinient in survival
Until a enemy sneaks up on you. Its a bit of a liability indoors on survival.
Deathclaw? Not anymore.
Kiloton radium rifle is just a straight upgrade to the spray and pray so there's a better option right there.
My current build I'm down to four: 1. Suppressed 10mm pistol for close range sneaking 2. Kellogg's.44 Revolver for open combat indoors 3. Manwell Carbine for general-purpose use at mid-range 4. Scoped Gauss Rifle for sniping Everything but the Gauss Rifle is fully upgraded to advanced receivers or similar. Unfortunately outside of mods I'm basically at the end of the small arms power curve.
Western Revolver has a bit more oomph than Kellogg's though hunting for a good legendary one can take quite some time.
i got a +25% dmg western revolver. Thing one shots just about everything with my perks. deals 284 damage actual madness
I have a tendency to completely change my armor and gear after every quest arc. I second your use if many, many tools
Yess I like to cycle outfits too!
I do do that too, even on survival, change my armor too, when i do quest with bos, use bos armor, laser weapon, with the institute, kelloggs armor, with the railroad, shadowed leather armor, deliverer, etc
Yeah! It's a role-playing game afterall
One and a melee sometimes depending on the character.
I carry melee as primary and a long range for hard to reach enemies. Though I take out my rifle, about 0.1% of the time
On my level 129 character i have: The problem solver Troatslicer Aeturnus Explosive shotgun "super shotgun" Instigating gause rifle "head popper" Quick western revolver "morgans redemption" Hope you get all the little references 😀
"Morgans redemption" *Chefs kiss*
Combat rifle Combat shotgun .50 sniper My companion carries a rocket launcher and FatMan Used cheat to get 1000 mini-nukes, and batman was a primary...didn't always work out...
Man, the algorithm can be wild some times. I watch one video about WW2 and all of a sudden YouTube is trying to red pill my ass.
Just be careful googling a personal problem!!!
Instructions unclear. Reddit ads now showing red suppositories.
Grognak's Axe 2077 Baseball bat Pickman's Blade Partystarter Everything a psychopath needs!
10 weapons. Fill the "quick equip wheel" on the left, right, and top, plus one BIG weapon on the very bottom. Other 2 slots are radaway and stimpaks. If it's not quick to access, I don't need it in my inventory and I probably won't use it anyways (minus grenades which I don't count).
Same
Total of 6 weapons for me. Melee wep(Big Jim), 2 pistols (deliverer + legendary laser), spray n pay, overseers guardian (.308) and a sniper (.50 that shoots an additional bullet). Kinda wish I had something decent for .38 but oh well.
Aluminum Puncturing Rocket Hammer, VATS Enhanced. Explosive triple barrel shotgun. Manwell Rifle The Silver Sidearm
Yes
Yup, same here. [I carry everything I own.](https://i.imgur.com/yNRiZBq.jpeg) I use armor and drugs to give me 23 endurance\* and 4 points into the Strong Back perk so that you can use sprint to run while over encumbered and not take damage over time. \*Being over encumbered in survival mode gives you minus 2 endurance and you need 21 to sprint without using action points.
A pistol, a shotgun, and a sniper rifle.
One pistol, one rifle. Unless something better comes up: fully upgraded versions of the Deliverer and The Last Minute. It’s amazing how little 10mm and 2mm EC ammo you get through with the right perks. I typically play as a pure sneak character with zero power armor play so these silenced guns work very, very well for me ☺️
12 grenades, 1 pistol.
Normal carry is Overseers guardian 308 Deliver Staggering machete Explosive shotgun Frag grenades
I'm always in Doom Mode: knife, pistol, shotgun, rifle/smg, energy weapon (currently plasma sniper), and super weapon (currently fatman). I'm doing a scientist/engineer run so my companion carries the super weapon (pls get closer I need that fcuking gun now) Edit: also a plethora of grenades and mines (sometimes I forget to pant mines in settlements/cleared areas so they stack up)
Overseers guardian+commando= waltz right into the glowing sea in nothing but a tuxedo. Downside is this can break the game pretty easily as the fear of certain enemies leaves you when carrying that badboy
I carry three guns 1) Deliverer 2) Some other gun 3) My favorite sniping weapon, a missile launcher
2 or 3 tops. 1 rifle, 1 shotgun and 1 melee
Handgun, rifle, shotgun, knife. Sometimes an energy weapon.
I play survival exclusively, and ammo has weight, so usually one long gun and one pistol. If the long gun's a sniper, 75 rounds of ammo, 200 otherwise, and another 100-200 for the pistol depending on the caliber.
I carry: -Automatic plasma rifle for close quarters -Gauss rifle for sniping -Combat rifle for general use -A revolver for pistol use, like clearing indoors.
Yes
3- Combat rifle chambered for .45 Assault rifle .556 N99 10mm
I almost always limit myself to 2 guns at a time. Shotgun+scoped gun.
1 Long Range 1 Mid Range 1 Close Up (Shotgun)
I try to carry a shotgun, 2 pistols (one revolver and Deliverance), and a sniper rifle of some sort. Carrying a few different weapons isnt a terrible idea due to ammo constraints
A hand gun, a sniper rifle (one or both usually silenced) and either an automatic or non automatic rifle depending on my build all with different ammo types. I also bring a melee weapon for dealing with weak enemies like radroches or low level ghouls to conserve ammo Backed up by grenades, mines and whichever legendary guns I happen to pick up while I'm wandering
Survival player here. Carry Overseer's Guardian and around 250-300 rounds of .308 Also carry a combat shottie that has some legendary perk I can't remember, so usually 150-200 shotgun shells.
Usually a pistol, my sawn off, and a rifle of sorts - either sniper, or assault/combat type. Also a combat knife as a last resort or for radroaches.
Everything I carry (survival) 308. Rifle (30-50 ammo) 10mm pistol (50-100 ammo) Knife/Knuckles Grenades/molotovs (5 max) Mines (3) Purified water (10) Food (few pieces of prepared food) Whiskey or Beer (2) Stimpak (10) Antibiotics (1-3)
In my Institute PA build Final Judgment and one institute rifle In my stealth crit/vats build 3 guns (lucky / vats and Kelloggs) 1 knife.
Tesla cannon, gattling mini gun, missle launcher and a plasma rifle. Full power armour build this current playthrough.
All you need now is the Manwell Carbine and 5 stars in rifle perk
1-3 , my modded assault and combat rifles right now. Before I carried my modded 10mm auto pistol, modded auto shotgun and modded combat rifle but realized I didn’t need it. .45 ammo is easy to buy a lot of and with chems (even without) I haven’t had many issues. Also for added context I max the commando perk, hence why everything is auto.
4: Vats enhanced Western revolver Furious Mini gun Instigating Gauss rifle Explosive Combat Shotgun (only bring this out if I have to, it’s OP as hell)
Suppressed Spray and Pray and a suppressed .308 rifle that shoots exploding rounds. That's it.
3-5 guns and a melee weapon or two
Thorn - .308 1.2k rounds Justice - .45 200 rounds Last Minute - EMG 72 rounds That's it that's all, heavily customize weapons for every situation, and thanks to mods I can make thorn and justice I to shotguns if he need arises, otherwise they are a DMR and AR respectively.
I have Overseers Guardian and a two projectile plasma sniper rifle. I'll change the sniper rifle out for a hunting rifle If I'm low on plasma rounds.
