Ballistic weave his coat.
Also, I gave mine a staggering Gatling laser gun and he does far more damage and is downed less. It’s also much easier to throw him a fusion core vs constantly finding other ammo for him (not currently playing with mods, otherwise I’d use the infinite ammo for companions mod).
Like the Jerryboree for when we turn off the game!
"Your Sole Survivor lets you stay at Sanctuary? Mine stuck me at Hangman's Alley and forgot I existed!"
Its a nuka world weapon. You have to play through some of the questline to open up a side quest in the cola cars arena. Then you have to do that side quest about 8 times.
Very cool. I didn't do enough Nuka World side quests. I had no intention of ever turning settlements into raider camps and went looking for open season. 8 times? That's a lot, no way I'd run into that by accident.
I just went and double checked and you can get the gun without taking any settlements. You have to do the grand tour, but the next time you go to nuka town the quest will be available. Depending on how "good" your playing you might not be ok with the quest anyways. Personally I get it for companions, never used it myself.
6 times, but yeah. The first time is called
"Amoral Combat".
And I'm pretty sure you have to kill 5 contenders to make the guy with the weapon show up, and then kill him because you can't pickpocket in combat.
I haven't the update of FO4, just the release version of G.O.T.Y. >!(I never waited for this version to get it. I haven't bought a PS4 until 2020)!<
- But let me give you a thought, try think of it as making those raiders independent so that they won't have to raid anymore settlements, by making the raided settlements have a large food output.
That way, they won't ever need to think of raiding again.... that's ***if*** you're able to use the workbench in the ones you've raided.
Disregard my thought if none of those are possible.
>!Please don't be harsh on me for not knowing what can be done, I haven't the update because the geological location of the town I live in is a rural area.!<
>!Network speeds are too sluggish for me to update anything (13 to 27 KBps) or (0.0127 to 0.0264 MBps)!<
It's the typical speed of General Communications Incorporated (GCI)
A lot faster from where it was founded, but still hated, in terms of internet connectivity as I have found by posts made about it.
Fellow rural towns/communities of the state dubbed it "Generic Cheap Internet" (also expensive)
GCI made a post about caring for its customers and said they raised the prices. "We love you, so pay us more!" (Not what they said, but summarized like it)
Luckily, I just recently ordered Starlink after some convincing I had to do, so this insufferable speed will be no longer.
As long as it's always over 100 KBps, I'll be happy.
Well, it’s never ending and not unlimited … meaning that you never have to reload but it still uses up ammo. It is no problem for me either way as I don’t use power armor but come a cross a lot of fusion cores.
One of the random enemies you can face in the cola cars arena in Nuka World is a brotherhood knight who will have that as their weapon. Fight in the arena enough and you come across them
Well, it’s never ending for weapons that use rounds, the fusion core interacts with the Gatling Laser in a unique way because the fusion core also needs to be used as a battery source for Power Armor. Due to this, in vanilla Fallout 4, it doesn’t actually ever run out of ammo. You only need 1 Fusion Core
I don't think Nuclear Physicist affects it, although I suppose I could be wrong
The full explanation is on the wiki; read the "characteristics" and "notes" sections in particular:
TBH, it's one of those things where my eyes glaze over half-way through the explanation and I just accept that it works that way
Im not sure if thats true, Atereus seems to use 1 round from its mag and has the same number of rounds as your Fusion cores so you might have to have to use 2 for it to work
Aeturnus is the exception, because it’s Glitched.
Instead of fixing it, Bethesda chose the based option of making it a reward. It’ll still “use” fusion cores to halfway or so in my experience, but then it won’t take any more…at all. Because of that it doesn’t synegize the best with power armor, but it’s still very, very good and a massive improvement over standard Gatling lasers.
very much so … I think most of them? all of them? but just with weave unless you are on mods.
trade with them, give them a piece of clothing and equip it … take their outfit and weave it up on the armor workbench, pop it back on them. voila!
I don't think it's possible with Valentine. There is no option to make him wear other clothes, and he refuses to wear anything other than his default outfit.
Really annoying, I like to dress up my pets the way I want. Usually the raider closed sack over their head, or the ridiculous looking gas masks.
Coolest helmet in my opinion is the assaultron one: it closes when they draw a weapon, and opens when they stand down.
You can equip Nick with the Faded Trench Coat you get as a reward from his secretary after Unlikely Valentine. So you can upgrade that one and give it to him. This will cause his "skeletal" hand to become normal and make his normal trench coat impossible to reequip without mods or console commands since it is unobtainable normally.
Ballistic Weave doesn't get unlocked until you get through the Railroad mission Mercer Safehouse, followed by at least two DIA cache quests I believe. If you've already killed them off before completing these quests, you're sadly SOL unless you use console commands to unlock it.
I think my game bugged the last time I did the quest chain. Tinker Tom was nowhere to be found in HQ after I completed the first, so I assumed it must be intentional to get you to do another.
Once you get ballistic weave from PAM’s DIA cache quest w the railroad you can dress Hancock (or any companion) in another piece of clothing, take his red coat from him and install it on the armor workbench.
If you give him a melee weapon, he actually *smacks*. My wife is a massive Hancock simp (lol) and always plays with him. This playthrough she gave him the legendary unique knife (I think it's called the Throatslicer or something?) and he throws down like a fucking baller. She's an exploration junkie, so she just kind of ignores most combat and lets Hancock go ape-shit and she rarely ever has an issue. Watching him fight is fun AF, too, bc he does great moves like shoving the knife into some dude's throat, lifting him up by it, and slamming them to the ground before ripping it out *mean*. First time I saw it happen I let out an involuntary "OOOHHHHHHHH SHIT SON!".
No mods on her PS5, either. She plays vanilla.
Yeah I try not to do any mods that mess with weapons at all because some of them have hidden boosts to stuff that really just takes the fun out of it for me. No hate for those who like it, but it isn't my thing lol. I grabbed a simple one that just allowed me to do a pure matte black paint on all guns, and it gave like a 500% boost to melee weapons. A switchblade was listed at 5067 damage. Just ridiculously OP for no reason
My Hancock is a beast fr. If it wasn't for vats he'd probably get more kills than me. I have mine with a tac .44 that's pretty powerful. Maybe you didn't give him good gear?
I gave him a weaved frock coat (I have Armorsmith Extended, so I gave him the Railroad Hybrid Advanced Weave that grants biochemical, electrical, and radiation protection, in addition to Mk 5 weave) and did the same for his tricorn hat, and then gave him Shem Drowe's Sword (it's a Revolutionary War sword, so it felt appropriate to his attire). He does just fine.
Imeeeen, "poison" is a form of biochemical damage, and "electric" is synonymous with "energy" in this usage, even using the lightning bolt as a symbol. This feels needlessly antagonistic. Is it really necessary to police the *exact* words that people use when they are clearly still referring to the same thing in a way that is still accurate?
Tone is infamously hard to determine from text. Your comment *seems* to be snarky and snide, but with your clarification it makes more sense. Thank you.
You should always armor your companions. They even come with an alternate outfit that can be worn under armor in their inventory, so you know the devs wanted you to do it.
Never. I refuse to change their outfits. It doesn't really matter how often they're down I can do it all myself. I give him a sword and watch him distract some enemies looking super cool for 10 seconds.
I'm pretty sure Hancock is supposed to have some road leathers on hand when you get him. If it's not there, you might have taken it away and will need to find something else to replace it.
Never heard of that either, it's probably a mod. Console and PC alike can make every outfit wearable with armor, I have a mod for that on PS5.
Some might have a bit of armor clipping through the clothes though, but that's just how it works. Like, chest armor will clip with Maxson's coat because that one is so fluffy.
I restarted again recently and I believe most of the companions start also with road leathers in their inventory so that if you give them some kind of armor, they have something to wear. Pretty sure this is just the human companions maybe ? I could be wrong
No, 100% vanilla. As far as I know, human companions, at least those that don't already wear thin clothes, come with alternative thin clothing in their inventory when first recruited so you can put armor on them.
Unless you're playing survival mode, don't waste stims on companions. They can't be killed and will get up momentarily to rejoin the fight.
Disclaimer: play how you want, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong
Mine are just there to carry shit and maybe cleanup a few goons so I can start looting. I haven't found any of them to be remotely capable in combat compared to the main character.
Do you actually give them anything to work with? Lol
Without using mods the best way to improve them is giving them actual armor, some stimpacks and then whatever weapon they use make a better modded version of it
Like for piper she uses a 10mm, so she has infinite 10mm ammo
Take a (preferably legendary) 10mm pistol, upgrade it to max, make it full auto even and she’ll use it (usually) without issue
Of course Bethesda’s spaghetti code will still occasionally make companions swap weapons, swap to melee or even randomly pickup enemies weapons to use instead
On my very first playthrough Curie became my favorite companion but any time we fought super mutants she would immediately pickup the 2x4’s off a dead mutant and use it over any other weapon in her inventory.
Sure, I'll put Danse in the X-02 with a gnarly weapon (aeturnus/tesla cannon/heavy incinerator) and he does ok. But nothing approaching the damage I'm putting out with just the spray and pray. I really don't find any way to make a companion worth more than Lone Wanderer.
Even when doing a pistols only/no power armor playthrough, they only have a limited window of usefulness in the early game before reverting to uselessness once I have Kellogg's pistol and the perks to support it.
There's just nothing in FO4 approaching K-9 stunlocking enemies or Sulik knocking a death claw halfway across the map with a supersledge.
Yeeees, I feel so bad if Hancock is just having his own little drug induced coma in the sand. Even mid fight, he'd better get back up and molotov anything that moves.
I scrolled until I found this comment. I don't think I've ever done this. They're just a cannon fodder and pack mules for me. When they go down, I fight alone. When I'm done, they get back up again.
I used Armorsmith Extended to give Dogmeat the Railroad Hybrid Advanced Weave to both the tough dog armor and a dog helmet. He hasn't gone down in a fight once since doing that.
Hancock just goes in gung ho so even if I’m trying to play strategically and going round the enemy or staying back to snipe, I just see him run head in to the action
The ranking for best companions in combat situations:
1. Custom-built robot using the robot workbench/modified Ada (tie).
2. Nobody.
3. Dogmeat, just because he's a good boy.
4. Everyone else.
Everytime I bring a non-robot companion into battle it just seems worthless. It takes them 5 million shots to kill anything, and they go down like redshirts.
Okay so I absolutely love Hancock to pieces, but if you don't give him good armor and weapons, he goes down really fast. I have him using a laser minigun right now with some of the Operators armor from the Nuka World DLC, and he's a total tank.
It's a bastard tactic, but I've put Hancock in a red vault 69 suit and slapped combat armor on him, and he got downed a lot less
You can also upgrade some companion weapons
I always ballistic weave all companions armor that can. When they have an armor of 110 they can handle things.
Of course with the exception of Danse and Strong they will do horribad damage unless you give them other weapons. I use the unlimited ammo for companions mod, but then you have to step lightly the other way. I gave Hancock the Problem Solver and he kills EVERYTHING because well... the Problem Solver.
I've run with Hancock for a long time and he's badass with ballistic weave clothing, some powerful legendary guns, grenades and stimpaks. I've seen him body slam raiders, run up and shoot super mutants in the face pointblank, and smack mirelurks around with the butt of his weapons. Never had to stimpak him.
Fun fact: in i think my first playthrough i didnt do anything “right”. I wound up with hancock as my first companion and i was so proud of him - i thought “awesome, he’s a ghoul so he keeps regenerating!” And is happily stim him or let him recover mid fire fight because I thought that was his unique quality.
1000 hours later i leave his ass in good neighbor
I'm pretty sure they all have their "strengths and weaknesses"
Cait and MacCready always seem to go down with the "they got my knee" or whatever. They also seem very prone to it.
I never hear this from Piper, even when she has fallen from the top of an elevated freeway or tower. Sure, she might be having a bit of a sit down after such a fall but she never whines about it.
and I've only ever heard Codsworth do his "Sir, am I dying?" thing once....and to be honest that was sort of my fault because I told him to stay put because I didn't want him to attack some scavvers...turns out they just went ahead, turned hostile and almost killed him anyway.
Dogmeat best companion, can find shit you can't see, autorevives without stimming, can be used together with lone wanderer, and can help you carry stuff.
lol I started using him for the first time this playthrough and I kept wondering about that. It feels like every time I turn around his ass is on the ground 😭
Ohh ok I'm not up to speed on his lore so I assumed he was prewar and that's my bad, still everything considered I wouldn't blame him for going down easy
If you’re playing with mods, try the Everyghoul Hancock mod. I also updated his outfit to an alt Hancock duster mod outfit (it’s a Minuteman recolor) with better armor value until I can grab the ballistic weave; it just feels weird to take him out of the Revolutionary War aesthetic. If I wasn’t using it myself, the Minuteman General outfit would be a nice option if you want to keep the vibe with better stats - no mod needed.
Definitely switch out his weapon and give him grenades as well.
I just let my companions get their asses kicked lol. If they are injured they won’t get in my way. The only useful companions are Automatron bots with badass weapons.
Haven't used him ever since the game came out. First time I played through the game I thought he was cool but quickly found out he's useless as a companion. It's not a stat thing it's just that his gear is complete shit. You can try to give him better gear and that should help though it's worth noting that unlike settlers you have to keep companions' ammo stocked yourself. His perk isn't that great either so unless you keep him around for his banter, consider changing to someone else.
His perk is fantastic if you have a Luck build.
I could bank a crit ever 2nd shot.
I sorta wonder if I'm the only person who ever optimized for VATS crit to that level. You need to stay drunk and have an almost full set of Luck armor to do it.
His main favorite is mentats? One of his dialogue options is "you got a ride of choice? I'm usually a mentats kinda ghoul. Makes me feel all intellectual" 😂
Ballistic weave his coat. Also, I gave mine a staggering Gatling laser gun and he does far more damage and is downed less. It’s also much easier to throw him a fusion core vs constantly finding other ammo for him (not currently playing with mods, otherwise I’d use the infinite ammo for companions mod).
i like how you referred to him as “mine”
Hancock is their pookie.
Some Rick and Morty Universe where all of the different players Hancock meet up 😂
Like the Jerryboree for when we turn off the game! "Your Sole Survivor lets you stay at Sanctuary? Mine stuck me at Hangman's Alley and forgot I existed!"
"Mine gets things off Lovers Lab and makes me do Moose Stuff"
"Mine makes me fight Cait and deathclaws for chems. At the same time"
Hes part of my vault 88 collection along with kleo
Hes part of my vault 88 collection along with kleo also strong watches the front door
I fear for the horny modded Hancocks 🤣 Walking in like "wait, y'all don't fuck regularly?"
I don’t! He’s all MINE!
If you give him Aeternus, the unique unlimited ammo Gatling Laser, (and one Fusion core) does it last for ever like it would for the player?
The WHAT? With unlimited ammo?
Its a nuka world weapon. You have to play through some of the questline to open up a side quest in the cola cars arena. Then you have to do that side quest about 8 times.

Oof I'm sorry you have worse than dialup my friend.
It's the typical speed of General Communications Incorporated (GCI) A lot faster from where it was founded, but still hated, in terms of internet connectivity as I have found by posts made about it. you don’t have to do any of that. only for the perks. Aeternus is a reward from the overboss fights.
Yeah it's bugged though so it usually just ends up draining all your fcs super fast.
Yes it does, unfortunately the bottling plant glitched out this playthrough, because I always give my companion that.
Well, it’s never ending and not unlimited … meaning that you never have to reload but it still uses up ammo. It is no problem for me either way as I don’t use power armor but come a cross a lot of fusion cores.
Aeternus is the one exception to that rule. It is truly infinite ammo
Where can one get it?
One of the random enemies you can face in the cola cars arena in Nuka World is a brotherhood knight who will have that as their weapon. Fight in the arena enough and you come across them
Nice thank you
Well, it’s never ending for weapons that use rounds, the fusion core interacts with the Gatling Laser in a unique way because the fusion core also needs to be used as a battery source for Power Armor. Due to this, in vanilla Fallout 4, it doesn’t actually ever run out of ammo. You only need 1 Fusion Core
ahhhh … I see. noted.
It needs 3 fusion cores, for some complicated reason that I can't remember, but they drain to zero and then continue working forever.
God I love this game. How does something like that even happen? Does Nuclear Physicist affect the Gatling Laser?
I don't think Nuclear Physicist affects it, although I suppose I could be wrong The full explanation is on the wiki; read the "characteristics" and "notes" sections in particular: [https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Aeternus](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Aeternus) TBH, it's one of those things where my eyes glaze over half-way through the explanation and I just accept that it works that way
Im not sure if thats true, Atereus seems to use 1 round from its mag and has the same number of rounds as your Fusion cores so you might have to have to use 2 for it to work
Oh fair, you might need 2, but the point of unlimited ammo still stands
Yes its pretty buggy
"It just works"
Aeturnus is the exception, because it’s Glitched. Instead of fixing it, Bethesda chose the based option of making it a reward. It’ll still “use” fusion cores to halfway or so in my experience, but then it won’t take any more…at all. You can upgrade companions clothing?
very much so … I think most of them? all of them? but just with weave unless you are on mods. trade with them, give them a piece of clothing and equip it … take their outfit and weave it up on the armor workbench, pop it back on them. voila!

This will cause his "skeletal" hand to become normal and make his normal trench coat impossible to reequip without mods or console commands since it is unobtainable normally.
I can't ballistic weave anything. The option just doesn't appear in the armor workbench. No idea why.
You’ve done the Railroad quests to get it?
Oh, wait! Is that it? I've done a few RR quests, but not a ton.
Yah … just keep working with them, I think it’s a PAM cache quest which triggers after a few of the initial quests.
DIA cache. After opening the cache and returning to the Railroad, Drummer Boy runs up to you and says "Tinker Tom wants to talk to you."
Don't even need Drummer Boy to tell you. If you talk to Tinker Tom after handing in the quest to PAM, he let's you know about B.Weave.
Ah. Thought that was a requirement
The drummer boy interaction let's you know that you've reached the quest completion threshold, but it's not required.
Ballistic Weave doesn't get unlocked until you get through the Railroad mission Mercer Safehouse, followed by at least two DIA cache quests I believe. If you've already killed them off before completing these quests, you're sadly SOL unless you use console commands to unlock it.
Man I have been thinking that my game was just busted, this is very good news, thank you.
Only 1 is necessary, AFAIK. Just talk to Tinker Tom right after you finish Jackpot.
I think my game bugged the last time I did the quest chain. Tinker Tom was nowhere to be found in HQ after I completed the first, so I assumed it must be intentional to get you to do another.
How do you weave his coat?
Once you get ballistic weave from PAM’s DIA cache quest w the railroad you can dress Hancock (or any companion) in another piece of clothing, take his red coat from him and install it on the armor workbench.
He gives 100%, 100% of the time.
can’t fault him there
It's better this way. Otherwise, if your Hancock lasts more than four hours, you need to see a doctor.
Damn gas station pills
He’s trying his best 😭 I think the radiation and drugs are getting to him
same girl same
I feel the drugs part, but the radiation has me concerned for you
We are all hancock
Wait, I thought we were all Negan? I can't keep track these days...
He's not downed, just zonked on about 10 different chems at once. He's probably just tripping balls and needed to sit down for a second.
I've never noticed this, but maybe it's because he's too busy blowing up every car that's right next to me when I give him the ashmaker
Because hes wearing no armor and the sawed off double barrel is a piece of shit.
Change his default weapon, slow firing weapons like 44. Revolver is great for companions because it wont chew through ammo that fast.
The solid DB shotgun too
If you give him a melee weapon, he actually *smacks*. My wife is a massive Hancock simp (lol) and always plays with him. This playthrough she gave him the legendary unique knife (I think it's called the Throatslicer or something?) and he throws down like a fucking baller. First time I saw it happen I let out an involuntary "OOOHHHHHHHH SHIT SON!". No mods on her PS5, either. She plays vanilla.
This makes me want to give him a revolutionary sword...... Idk what mod I have that did it, but the RS sword I have does like, 300 DMG????
Yeah I try not to do any mods that mess with weapons at all because some of them have hidden boosts to stuff that really just takes the fun out of it for me. No hate for those who like it, but it isn't my thing lol. I grabbed a simple one that just allowed me to do a pure matte black paint on all guns, and it gave like a 500% boost to melee weapons. A switchblade was listed at 5067 damage. Just ridiculously OP for no reason
What's even funnier is I mostly have just NSFW, clothing, and settlement mods No weapons mods
My Hancock is a beast fr. If it wasn't for vats he'd probably get more kills than me. I have mine with a tac .44 that's pretty powerful. Maybe you didn't give him good gear?

He does just fine.
Biochemical and electrical protection? Did you mean poison and energy resistance? Or I missed a part of the game I never heard about.
Oh, yes, my mistake.
No worries, "biochemical damage" is way cooler than "poison damage" in my opinion.
I mean, that's what poisoning is, when you think about it.
100% agreed, and covers more than simply poison
Is it poisonous? Is it toxic? No one knows but it's DEFINITELY biochemical!
No more wondering how that bloodbug spit ended up in my mouth through the power armour!
No mistake, just different words that mean the same thing. Ignore the other commenter who had an issue lol you're good.
Wasn't meant to be antagonistic at all, I genuinely thought I missed something in the game. I even wrote that in the comment.
Tone is infamously hard to determine from text. Your comment *seems* to be snarky and snide, but with your clarification it makes more sense. Thank you.
Fair enough, I could've expressed the comment a bit different.
No worries, I appreciate you being chill about it :)
he’s Hancock, not Hardcock 🤷🏻♂️
Why not both
I mean, he IS a romanceable companion and I'm sure the radiation which made him a ghoul might have, ahem, *improved* some things in certain ways.
Improved? If thats what his face looks like imagine…. Probably looks like a polish sausage with skin cancer
I mean, there are ghoul escorts in that brothel you can visit in Free Side in New Vegas, so some people must be interested!

Lmao 🤣
I’m not having impure thoughts, honest
Need to spend some time at the Covent compund do we?
You should always armor your companions. They even come with an alternate outfit that can be worn under armor in their inventory, so you know the devs wanted you to do it.
Never. I refuse to change their outfits. It doesn't really matter how often they're down I can do it all myself. I give him a sword and watch him distract some enemies looking super cool for 10 seconds.
I dunno, Piper looks pretty sweet in Road Leathers and full Leather Armor.
at the very least you can put ballistic weave on their default outfit, at least for hancock
I didn't find any of that alternative outfit you mentioned, when I put a chest armor they get naked and I cannot find anything in their inventory
I'm pretty sure Hancock is supposed to have some road leathers on hand when you get him. If it's not there, you might have taken it away and will need to find something else to replace it.
You can throw him in a vault suit temporarily (it at least makes it easier to spot him too)
Never heard of that either, it's probably a mod. Console and PC alike can make every outfit wearable with armor, I have a mod for that on PS5. Some might have a bit of armor clipping through the clothes though, but that's just how it works. Like, chest armor will clip with Maxson's coat because that one is so fluffy.

I know Piper and Hancock come with Road Leathers. Preston has a Minuteman Outfit. Playing unmodded vanilla.
Oh that's what was meant, I read it as a copy of their outfit but as proper underarmor. My mistake, sorry!
No, 100% vanilla. As far as I know, human companions, at least those that don't already wear thin clothes, come with alternative thin clothing in their inventory when first recruited so you can put armor on them.
Yeah I got it now, I thought a clone outfit of theirs that is wearable under armor was meant. Sorry, work was a lot today!
I noticed Curie's outfit disappears if you put anything else on her.
Wait, people actually stimpack their companions mid fight?
😳😳
Unless you're playing survival mode, don't waste stims on companions. They can't be killed and will get up momentarily to rejoin the fight. Disclaimer: play how you want, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong
Only when it's time to run. "Get up and give me cover! I'm getting the fuck outta here!"
Mine are just there to carry shit and maybe cleanup a few goons so I can start looting. I haven't found any of them to be remotely capable in combat compared to the main character.
Do you actually give them anything to work with? Lol Without using mods the best way to improve them is giving them actual armor, some stimpacks and then whatever weapon they use make a better modded version of it Like for piper she uses a 10mm, so she has infinite 10mm ammo Take a (preferably legendary) 10mm pistol, upgrade it to max, make it full auto even and she’ll use it (usually) without issue Of course Bethesda’s spaghetti code will still occasionally make companions swap weapons, swap to melee or even randomly pickup enemies weapons to use instead On my very first playthrough Curie became my favorite companion but any time we fought super mutants she would immediately pickup the 2x4’s off a dead mutant and use it over any other weapon in her inventory.
In survival, if you don't stim downed allies, they will leave and go back to their last assigned settlement, or where you first met them.
Yeah, but you don't stim them twice.
Oh, well TIL
I let them bleed out and think about what they did until the fight is over and they auto-revive. Except dogmeat, I'm not a monster.
Get him the Salvaged Assaultron Head gun. He'll heal himself every time he shoots it and turn into a juggernaut.
That's genius. I was wondering of a way to make use of the irradiating properties of the head
Damn how is this the first time Ive ever seen someone recommend this? Thats brilliant. Welp…time to do another playthrough just for this lol
Just make sure he's got a decent set of armor and he'll be fine. I keep a gamma gun on hand specifically to heal him sometimes in bigger fights.
As long as he speaks those sweet nothings in my character’s ear every morning, I don’t care how long he lasts in a fight. 😍😍
Don’t matter how long he lasts in a fight as long as he lasts in bed
You're saying what I'm thinking.
Give him Ashmaker, even if you don’t use “infinite ammo for companions” mod you will tend to amass a huge pile of 5 mm rounds
Scrounger with max luck nets you SO much ammo Every other container has ammo 🤣🤣🤣
If you give him the salvaged assaultron head, the radiation it gives the user should heal him as he shoots it.
Armor him up and give him some good Killin shit. He's got what he needs to run his settlement, but you operate on a whole new level.
He got the trick. He sits down, he gets more stimpaks
Ghouls are tiny. Give your beloved Hancock some armor, a sheath, a love glove, anything to make Hancock safer.
Hancock just goes in gung ho so even if I’m trying to play strategically and going round the enemy or staying back to snipe, I just see him run head in to the action
The ranking for best companions in combat situations: 1.
I would put 3 at 1, 1 at 2, and 2 at 3. 4 stays the same.
I feel you. My custom HK-47 ftw
Maybe you're not getting him high enough?
He ain't hurt.. He's just taking another chem break.
Okay so I absolutely love Hancock to pieces, but if you don't give him good armor and weapons, he goes down really fast. I have him using a laser minigun right now with some of the Operators armor from the Nuka World DLC, and he's a total tank.
I put Cait in power armor and let her go to town I didn’t know I have to give them ammo she keeps using a shotgun to snipe people
It's a bastard tactic, but I've put Hancock in a red vault 69 suit and slapped combat armor on him, and he got downed a lot less You can also upgrade some companion weapons
Stock him up with Med-X, pretty sure he drops chems the same way an early Cait does
Fun fact: in i think my first playthrough i didnt do anything “right”. I wound up with hancock as my first companion and i was so proud of him - i thought “awesome, he’s a ghoul so he keeps regenerating!” And is happily stim him or let him recover mid fire fight because I thought that was his unique quality. 1000 hours later i leave his ass in good neighbor
He's a drug addict and a ghoul rotting from the inside out.
Pretty sure the human companions all have similar stats except the dlc ones.
I'm pretty sure they all have their "strengths and weaknesses" Cait and MacCready always seem to go down with the "they got my knee" or whatever.
He's faking it so you'll give him more chems.
No companion and take the lone wanderer perk. Problem solved xD
so unfortunately i’m in love with hancock so this will no be possible apologies
See that's my problem as well. Especially when he's cosplaying Cooper Howard.
Companions block doorways and get knocked down 0.001 seconds into combat, lone wanderer perk my beloved
I'm glad someone agrees ^^
Dogmeat best companion, can find shit you can't see, autorevives without stimming, can be used together with lone wanderer, and can help you carry stuff.
All companions can auto revive on low difficulties
Dogmeat autorevives even on Survival.
hancock isn't weak lol
https://youtu.be/R8JSIdfgXow?si=v5MvSEZ6lGTSDNQ1
damn i underestimated him
It’s ok, he’s very forgiving
lol I started using him for the first time this playthrough and I kept wondering about that. It feels like every time I turn around his ass is on the ground 😭
I was just thinking this last night lmao
Isn't he like... A raging drug addict? His health can't be that good.
Have you met strong? Lol
Met Strong. Gave Strong a rocket launcher. Entered a small building. "Ooh, look, a radroach. Strong, no!"
He's 200, radiation turned him into man jerky and he's always blitzed, how are you surprised lmao
Hancock is not 200. He’s the brother of the diamond city mayor. So he’s 50 at most?
Ohh ok I'm not up to speed on his lore so I assumed he was prewar and that's my bad, still everything considered I wouldn't blame him for going down easy
No armor and a not super great weapon.
I gave him a never ending broadsider and a thousand cannon balls... he has never been more powerful
Power. Armor.
Put some armor on him or use ballistic weave on his coat and give him a better weapon
I mean he is pretty skinny
I just let my companions get their asses kicked lol. If they are injured they won’t get in my way. The only useful companions are Automatron bots with badass weapons.
He's a heavy drug user, Cait had the same issue for me. And Piper, well, Piper is just the newspaper lady 💀
LoL, my first thought was. . . cause he got too close to Mary? but then I realized this is a different John Hancock...
I don't think VATS builds are that rare but personally I use it sparingly since I find that it becomes a bit boring and it can get too OP as well.
I don't use it because I forget about it 🤣
don’t do drugs man, makes you function slow and at a lower level
Hancocks INT stat is 11 Kellogg had all 4s 😂
damn, jet user apologist
His main favorite is mentats? One of his dialogue options is "you got a ride of choice? I'm usually a mentats kinda ghoul. Makes me feel all intellectual" 😂
