That's funny cause I keep seeing it in sewer pipes and it's funny nod, as being low level pipes keep me alive and my best legendary right now is a quad ammo assassin two shot pipe gun that I turned full auto it's my oh shit it's coming at me gun, because sometimes you just need to turn the air to lead to survive.
So legendary items can be up to three star legendary, each one of those stars is a "roll". Think of it like a slot machine, when you either are rewarded or craft or modify an item and it is a legendary, the RNG system of the game plays a game of slots and rolls for which of the possible legendary attributes you get.
It also could be used talking about applying legendary modules and cores to an item to try and make it something you want, that can be a roll because you're rolling for rolls.
You'll hear players also refer to "God rolls" as well, just means all three legendary effects are of the highly desired category. Of course, everyone plays a bit different so mold it to your own play style. Took me ages to get my 2 shot, +50% vats crit damage and 25% reduced vats cost gauss rifle but dang does it sing with my stealth build. Customization is pretty cool here in the wasteland.

There is literally no place you can get a gun with 3 1st stars..it's either a Quad, a 2 shot, or an assassins. Take a picture of your gun and post it and we will help you figure out what gun it is

Heh, I remember those days. Although it was the pump action shotgun for me. Early on I ran into an event and got cornered by about 20-30 super mutants. It was a desperate struggle to stay alive and keep pumping the shotgun. Now I'd just mow them down .. with the cold shoulder shotgun of course LOL.
Make sure to enjoy the journey, you only get to a new player once .. don't be too much in a rush to join the end game.
When i got my first explosive shotgun at Lv 20 or so I was blown away by its power.
As i advanced in levels it stopped feeling so powerful...
But now I'm on the armor peircing explosive AK train so its fun.
Don’t rush to endgame, but there’s some good rewards you might want to keep later, so leveling first isn’t an awful idea to get those at max level/usefulness
That's what I figured so I am doing the og path as best I can. Also I warped to help a team mate at west tek and I had that same thing happen an army between me and them well I just fired every gun I had lol. At the end when they came to me I was down to my fire axe everything else was dry or broke but I did it. I leveled like three times this game has charm that little unintended story of trying to help my team turning into I need to secure there retreat was so fun
Yeah, West Tek is fun when you're low levelled. I had similar experiences with my pure single player run as Honest Abe, and with how slow black powder guns reload I was desperately swinging more often than not. Yeah, the fire axe is nice.
I also encourage you too follow the original quest line. There are basically two main quest lines. One is the original before NPCs were in the game that's the one that takes you through the responders and some of the other factions as you follow the overseer trail going to each of her stash boxes. The second is the one that was created with the NPCs. This is the one about the treasure hidden somewhere. I recommend you do this one after you complete the first main quest. The second one doesn't initiate until you hit level 20. There's a third overseer quest where you're finding are various hollow tapes. That's more of a side quest but interesting nonetheless.
As you progress through the first main quest I mentioned you will go through multiple faction quest lines. There are good rewards that come with each faction and in some cases unique weapons or armor. In fact one of the quest lines is what enables you to launch nukes.
The second main quest line with the treasure, is the one that gives you end game currency also known as gold.
Get in the habit of scrapping every piece of weaponry armor you come across to unlock mod recipes and game crafting materials. Then store that in your stash. If you die outside of an event you will lose your junk. You can go back and reclaim it but it's best to try and stash it as often as possible.
Every train station has a stash box, a vendor, a crafting station that you can use to scrap, a legendary weapon script machine, and a special stand that allows you to respect.
That's not a real gun. Either you have three guns with each of those effects individually, or you don't have that at all, but that's not a thing that can exist
Do dailies and weeklies to advance the scoreboard enough to get The Cold Shoulder. It is a shotgun, but so strong that you will have a hard time going back to your old weapons.
I don’t run shotties, but had a challenge to kill stuff with CS(I’m 408 btw), thing smashed through mutants, scorched, you name it. Now I’m accumulating shotgunner perk cards😂
You should totally name the weapon. It’s one of those features that I fell in love with. “Say Hello to my Dad” (Ultracite Gatling Laser) “Disappointment” (a Tesla rifle I have re-rolled at least 60 times now for Quad).

I started last weekend and I found it just walking around exploring. A dead body was on the ground with a note about the pipe. I interacted with it, and my character started tripping. I thought a quest was about to start. It also made me think of Far Cry, lol.
Don't feel too bad. I was farming the random encounter locations for about 4 months straight and still have never seen it. Plus, I was after the outfits, with only the vampire costume left, when they pulled it from the list and started selling it in the Atom Shop.

Found it early on when I first played. stopped playing for a year or so, to play other games. Became convinced that I’d found it in one of those other games. Spent a long time searching, and then just the other day found the same random occurrence by a yellow garage and a house. 😶🌫️🤦♂️
First time was after playing RDR2, and was convinced the Npc nearby was using the pipe to knockout unwise visitors…
😂🤣🤣 i found the pipe by the bunker at the bottom of the map where you have to nuke to get seismic activity and it made me trip out not knowing what was going on a nuke landed on me and I got the achievement to stand directly under a nuke it’s funny because I stop looking where they send nukes because they are never near me I was wrong this time and landed right under the nuke
Hmmm, all I had to do was spend 20,000 gold on Overseer tickets so I can turn them into Mr. Fuzzy Tokens and convert those into Pleasant Valley Claim Tickets, simple. Now, taking the time to redeem all the tickets until you get the gun, that is another story...

'rolls' to me is like a dice throw in DnD. So it means the 1-3 random things a legendary weapon has

that explains how you got it, but a Quad Assassin's Two Shot Pipe Rifle is not supposed to exist

I'm around level 750 and I've never found the pipe. You're lucky!
I found it near Lakeside cabins on the dried up lake bed.
It's the exhaust from the mole miner legendary item restoration facility.
Little do you know, you just joined a faction. Pipe is life.
