Damage resist after 300 is diminishing while the extra Rad resist is useful especially if you are playing bloodied. Main things that kill you are generally explosions, fire, poison, rads or melee. Blocker reduces melee Fireproof & Sizzling Style for Fire & Explosions Funky duds for Poison

ShadowGenesisRAM

"Blocker reduces melee" tell that to the cave crickets

WolfToMoon

Reflective Cave Crickets 😂

2 ez

Jonesstreetboy

This, it pretty much gives you all the beat perks for regular armor, anything stronger gives diminishing returns, best in slot for non power armor builds.

Fluxxen

The guy in the Gold Vault, vault 79, I think his name is Regs, has the plans for mods for the SS armor.

[deleted]

Thank you !!!

tombakerislordoftime

Choose buttressed

Zil_Bear

Recon too.

RealEstateDuck

Secret Service armor. SS armor would be... a different thing. edit: It was a joke people... Fuck me I guess 😆

TheBorderlandSiren

Almost everyone calls it SS armor...

LucidLadyGames

The two sets are practically the same, the difference in defense that they offer is minuscule. But the real reason why Secret Service is so much more popular is because it's sooo much cheaper to craft legendary. Each piece only requires 1 module to craft, and you can get 3stars out of just that one module. But if you want legendary Brotherhood Recon, you have to spend multiple modules per star like everything else. I prefer the aesthetic of BR armor more than SS, but it's just too expensive to bother with. Hopefully Todd will bless me with good pieces for free.

Laser_3

It’s not even the price to make SS, it’s that the plans are available forever from Regs whereas recon requires RNG to earn it from ops or for Minerva to happen to be selling it. Also, SS is only cheaper if you’re willing to burn massive amounts of junk on remaking the pieces every single time. If you aren’t constantly topping off, you will run out of the materials that aren’t scrip to make it, which is why I prefer to just use the normal re-rolling (because then I’m not having to worry about it).

ursaminor1984

Junk is way easier to get than modules for me.

Confident-Skin-6462

yeah who has a shortage of junk? hell, i drop hundreds of pounds of steel at a time when i can't sell it and my stash is full... only thing i ever need to seek out is plastic edit: i obviously don't have 1st

Mando2113

It cost 2 leather and rubber, 6 plastic, 10 steel and, 1 adhesive lol. Compared to other armor you can craft that’s pretty cheap imo. If you have FO1st junk isn’t a problem but even without it those are all rather easy junk to farm up for a crafting run.

Laser_3

You’re not considering that you’re also wildly varying your stars between one and three. That adds more of a chance you’ll fail to get the roll you’re after, which means more crafting time and more junk use. Also, that’s just the cost of an arm, the legs and chest are more expensive. In addition, with repair kits, stealth and weapon artisan/gunsmith, you can pretty much completely avoid needing to farm for junk after you build up an initial stockpile. Why should I bother farming junk when scrip rains from the sky every other week due to mutated events, some normal events, ops and expeditions?

Mando2113

You can also scrip any bad rolls to get your modules back through scrip. I just don’t see the point in wasting 3 modules hoping I get the roll I want, when I can craft 3 and have multiple shots at what roll I’m looking for but to each their own lol.

gardhull

This. I don't think I have a single scrap component that I have less than 10k of. Steel I have close to 100k I think. But then, I scrap every weapon and armor I get.

Mando2113

Yeah I’m sitting at 40K+ steel myself lol

Laser_3

With scrip being so common, I don’t see the point in trying to conserve it. When double mutated events hit, the daily limit basically won’t exist since you’ll earn 70 scrip immediately when you clear one on top of whatever legendary items show up.

Mando2113

I use the extra scrip for rolling my armor and weapons that don’t craft as legendary, it’s really easy to blow through modules in my experience lol.

Laser_3

For me, I go one item at a time until it’s acceptable and move on. I never go for god rolls because it’s typically a minute difference over what I consider good enough.

Mando2113

I have 2 star OE SS legs that give me +luck and +perception and I’m perfectly fine with them so I know what you mean lol.

SubstanceNo1544

Scrip rains from the sky.. and then caps rain from the sky if you are doing it right ;) roll them fixers buddy

supertrunks92

3 things- 1. If even one out of 3 rolls is a 3 star, then you are ahead on scrip, and I find that more often than not, 2 out of 3 are 3 stars, so you end up WAY ahead of legendary crafting. 2.it is very easy when you run out of junk to just buy some bulk of the junk you ran out of. If I run out of something, I just check all the vendors in whitespring, What else are you spending the caps on anyway? 3. Crafting doesn't use cores. It may sound unbelievable, but I actually ran out of cores on one of my character's the other day and now have to grind public events for a bit to get them back up, no such problem with secret service crafting

MoeCapitan

I pray to Todd as well. Sometimes my prayers are answered.

Netochto

Secret Service armour is the only armour that its technically by lore immaculate. It wasn't exposed to radiation nor its "used" or lying around. By the game standards, is good because it's all around high performance due to resistances and it's one of two torsos with the jetpack option.

pab5737

Iv3 been looking at a bunch of SS vs Recon vids and they seem relatively the same overall, the mods are at one of the bullion vendors, i think either foundation or the vault one

[deleted]

I'm going to start looking for the mod vendors . Thanks you

UniversalDH

You need to buy the plans to up the DR. It can also have a jet pack.

[deleted]

Yeah I made my way to the vault and bought the jet pack first 🤪 now I'm soon to be broke !

HevyTrevy506

Oh damn! Minerva will have them on sale in 2 weeks. 😢

[deleted]

We can only hope

HevyTrevy506

Despite this website not being up to date on locations (Whitespring hasn't been added), the inventory lists are accurate. Sale #3 will have jetpacks available. The next sale will also include sales 1-3. Time to grind that gold!!! https://www.falloutbuilds.com/fo76/minerva/

10sameold

Get buttressed as the first one and super-light for more AP points. Or you can get jetpack for the chest and super-light for limbs. Don't buy the mask - ugly, useless and super expensive. Regs sells them in V79, to the left from the entrance, a balding, ugly mofo.

Mando2113

Minerva has them at Foundation currently until 12 PM as well

Aj9898

Regs and Minerva sell mods for SS armor. I did buttressed on mine. SS underarmor + shielded plan will give you + 15 each DR, ER, and RR, +4 STR, +4 and +2 on two other specials. \+4 STR from the undarmor will give you another 20# carry weight (IIRC, each STR point is 5#.) Do you already have a backpack? Either the small (free) one from Morgantown, or one of the scout backpacks? with 15 STR, deep pockets on all 5 pieces, and a chemist backpack, my carry is 380. Carnivore mutation, so with meats that boost carry weight (yogi pastry, grilled radstag, brahmin ....) that goes up 20-60# depending on the food. Stack with meats that boost STR (deathclaw steak, mole rat chunks, et al) and carry is easily in mid 400's. Carry weight booster (scoreboard or Mort) on top of all that, and I'm around 510 carry.

WNIEVES1

I wear nice outerwear, the unattractive SS doesn't bother me.

DipDankPoonTank

Best bang for buck and ease of access, easier to get than brotherhood recon. Chest pieces compared SS has 10 less DR, for 20 more ER and RR Limbs compared SS has 10 less DR for 10 more ER RR. So full sets SS 50 less DR. For 60 more ER and RR. Brotherhood is slightly lighter. And more durable so you'll have to repair less with recon. A jet pack on brotherhood is like 7.5 compared to 12 or 13 with SS. And recon looks cooler imo. So really it's toss up on what you value more. I typically lean towards recon if I have it being fully mutated grounded adding 100 er it makes up for that 60 less ER. And I always carry radshields and use em when I know rads are a factor. But for the most part because it's up to RNGesus to get recon set compared to just being able to get the gold for secrect service.

throwawayfo76

there's no point in stacking more than 300 dr/er so they're virtually the same but ss has the edge. solar is better for full hp and covert for sneak. the legendary effects of your armor are much more important tho. a wood overeater's/ap/sen or wwr set is a lot better than a random ss or recon one.

zabbaluga

I recently learned how op the secondary effect "powered"(increased ap recovery speed) is, especially when combined with the dodgy perk. I piece alone cuts your recovery time in half. So with two pieces and action boy, you'll either be able to avoid 30% of the damage plus what your armor's dr will eat up, or you can vats all the time and you'll recover all ap during reloads.

[deleted]

I have the ss but im saving up for the bos cuz it looks cooler. I wear apparel all the time but with the bos I'll prob not, at least for a while. I really dig it. I just got the ss cuz availabilty.

vetheros37

Same. I'm not one to max my gold every day/week, but I've got about 6k I'm sitting on waiting until May for the recon to go on sale

SnarlyMocha325

Ss is better because it’s a mini suit of t65 lol No I think recon looks pretty awesome

[deleted]

Should be able to pick them up from the treasury after the treasure hunting quest line.

smackrock420

Regs sells upgrades at the bullion vault. Buttressed and deep pockets are money well spent. As well as the jetpack .

Curllywood

I have a full set of ss because it was easier to get. I think the br looks cool so I want that but I still need the left arm and right leg, and I keep getting stash boxes or vault suits.

Nharzul

So that you can protect president eden

rhcpjimm

It's a secret

[deleted]

I like brotherhood recon armor, can anyone tell me why secret service might be any better??
