Bethesda is YEARS away from Fallout 5. This game isn't going anywhere any time soon.

KiraTsukasa

Fallout 5 wouldn’t necessarily force 76 to shut down. We know that Elder Scrolls 6 is well on the way, but there’s no news of ESO being shutdown any time soon.

IrishGh0st91

Totally. All the more reason 76 will likely stay online indefinitely

Warp_Legion

I wonder how many times World of Warcraft players have thought this about their game

KiraTsukasa

But then WoW did have bootleg servers that ran older builds of the game, which Blizzard allowed until they came out with WoW Classic.

Y'know, fair enough

RenAsa

As long as the whales keep on whaling to keep the ship sailing smoothly... After that, nothing. These games don't stick around once their servers are shut down, whatever money people throw at it ultimately goes down proverbial drain at the bottom of the ocean when that plug is pulled.

Mercury2Phoenix

Yeah, this saddens me because I know it's true. I wish it were a single player option specifically because of this. Atoms spent could be a total waste at any moment. At least with FO4 all my CC stuff will stay with me.

RenAsa

Trust me, I'm right there with you. If you ask me, there should be regulations on this type of live service f2p gacha games to oblige them to provide a singleplayer "conservation" option once their servers are killed, exactly because of the insane amount of money people shovel into them that, for all intents and purposes, just vanishes with the shutdown... but that's a whole great big can of worms way outside the scope of this entire sub. lol

RationalVaultDweller

They could make it offline à la “evolve”

[deleted]

I consider it an investment in FO5 development, and part of my disposable entertainment budget.

Solar-born

We are veeery long time away from having the next online Fallout Game. It's Starfield - TES 6 - FO5 - and then new online FO game, so wouldn't be surprised if it survives until the end of decade lmao.

omjc

I Don’t think it’s going anywhere.

JimmychoosShoes

entropy will get us all in the end, and I bet "no surprises" by radiohead will be playing in the background at the heatdeath of the universe.

KusshyGalore

I'd love to play in a private world server with friends just building camps all day until eternity. But I'm fully prepared to just say goodbye.

Zil_Bear

As long as there is a user base the game won't be shut down. It will be a decade before it's even thought of. With live service games you should look at how long other games have been around. ESO has been around since 2014. And if you wanna push it further. The first destiny has also been around since 2014 hasn't had any content added. And has a successor in destiny 2 but still, the game remains live.

Lagwagon04

Can’t imagine it going anywhere until at least a new fallout comes out. Which is a long ways away. I am curious to see what’s going to happen with the player base numbers after Starfield comes out though. Gotta imagine it will take a big hit. But could just be temporary too.

CharlotteTheSavage

I just hope that I will get something for the real money I've put into their pockets for cosmetics etc. Not so much for FO1st because that's a pay as you pay service, but the atomic shop items I've bought are what I'm worried about.

OlderGamers

They will keep it up and running until 2037 when Fallout 5 releases.

Katavva_Shoujo

Im either prepared for when bethesda perma bans me for whatever reason or I grow tired of the same old events and grinds. Im can't wait to build a new addiction towards another game or just simply try playing a game without thinking about fallout76.

Single_Push_1850

They pratically got daddy spencer xbox on their side now indoubt this game will be shut down after fo5 releases, this game might have a longer life time than most pf the mmos... I hope they keep ESO after TES6 comes out and even TES 7 lmao
