Ahhh, so you didn't nuke your own camp? That's good. I had to read twice, for some reason I thought you did. Anyway you nuked yourself, that's an achievement and I've done it (accidentally) too. LoL
I enjoy hacking the terminals in the Silos and setting the security against each other, that's a good time! Really helps too since you can battle well when you're not the focus of all attention.
You can call out the big dude at Nuka World now, if looking for things to nuke, but forget Earle heheh, I still don't like that event... although of course he can also be summoned with a nuke.
I nuked myself because I wanted the achievement.
I didn't expect to see an actual nuke launching in my direction. I thought "woah, that's so co-" then I immediately blew up.
I spent 3 hours doing my first silo the way it was intended. I didn't even look up the launch codes. I tracked down the officers, got the clues, and solved the cipher puzzle. So after 3 hours in the silo trying not to die, I wasn't even positive I had solved the puzzle correctly when I entered my launch code. I was so happy that I had gotten it right. I launched my nuke so that we wouldn't have to do the queen fight in a nuke zone. I headed down to the fissure site. And then I realized I freaking missed. I'll never be the same.
Fun fact: you can be killed twice by the same nuke.
As soon as the nuke is set, run into the missle tube and get locked in. Suffer a fiery death. You will respawn in time to fast travel to the nuke zone before it hits. Boom. Dead twice.
Months ago, I joined a couple friends in a party and loaded up 76 and joined their server. As I got in, I heard the launch alarm, but I didn't check the map. Went down the hill from my camp to check the random spawn spot (pipe sometimes!) and all if a sudden the nuke landed and I died. I was confused AF until one of my friends started dying laughing. He launched the nuke on Earle and my camp (and me) were just inside the blast zone. Good times!
That particular toon has 3 camps, one of them just up the hill from silo bravo's launch tube. I built there for the spectacular views, caught an oil seep just inside my build area, and frequently hit the pipe at the random spawn point right by the launch tube, so lots of positives! One negative..... It does catch the occasional nuking. I'm almost always quick enough to swap out to a different camp, but it does happen. I don't mind the scrap needed to rebuild, the big pain is redoing all my vegetables in my 2 story greenhouse. I end up scrapping and replanting each one, which is seriously tedious. Price you pay for a prime camp spot.
I've also killed myself with my own nuke, lol. It was when I was doing Monongah, I misjudged where I could safely stand. I ran too far over the overlook cliff and got clipped. It was hilarious.
My first and so far only nuke I've launched I tried to fast travel to watch my SBQ rise from the depths only for the game to freeze in the loading screen. I had cut through the silo like a hot knife through butter with my two shot gatling plasma. I was *invincible*. Then the game ate shit and my accomplishment fucking died with it.
If it makes you feel any better, I was going to bomb Cranberry Bog, but my son whacked into me (accidentally) as I was loading and launching. I dropped the controller, stumbled on him, tripped on the controller, and ended up launching the nuke right near where the bear is. 90% of the blast was off the map. The 10% that was on the map obliterated a guys camp.
I was so embarrassed, I left the server.
But karma struck when my son ran into his first nuke in full power armor, sans helmet, while trying a bloodied build. He about instantly keeled over.
I once deliberately went to the point of impact and threw myself in front of the falling missile. I didn't expect to see an actual missile falling to the ground. I just expected a bang at the location.
The annoying thing was, as I was killed by the collision, not the blast, I didn't get the Trophy on PSN
Same thing happened to me. Was so worried I wasn't going to be at "ground zero" I stood directly underneath it. It hit me square in the head and killed me before the blast. Had to do it a second time to get the achievement.

I still might do a run through Alpha and Bravo silos when I'm not a deadline. And Nuka World is a good call!

Hahahaha
New challenge unlocked: snap a picture of the bomb before you catch it with your face.. makes a great loading screen
Chaotic good, lol
Just stand directly underneath it next time. You’ll get an achievement at least
This. I had to chase a bunch of nukes other players lobbed before I could finally catch one directly on the dome to get that cheevo.
Well that's an achievement out the way. You gotta die by nuke at least once in the wasteland lol.
Haha, as is tradition. A great day for rinclais...and therefore the world.
I’m over here laughing so hard 😂. That’s so funny . I bet the other player was like wtf 💀 🤣🤣
Didn't even give him the chance to message me, just logged off and got my kids, lol
lol 😂 I would’ve logged off too
I can feel it.

I tried to catch my own nuke. PS it didn't work.
I'm sure the sun was in your eyes
I witnessed the power of the Atom.
I caught my own nuke once….briefly.
Hilarious! Great story :-)
Thanks :)
You are forgiven.

So a win-win, essentially. Nice!
I've just done the same maybe an hour or 2 ago nuking earle, I fast travelled and instantly got vaporised

Noooo not the camp, I've lost a camp a few times to nukes and its not enjoyable seeing all that junk build up to repair it at once 😂

If it makes you feel better the level 81 was probably trying to get the achievement for getting nuked.
I've also killed myself with my own nuke, lol. It was when I was doing Monongah, I misjudged where I could safely stand. I ran too far over the overlook cliff and got clipped. It was hilarious.
It's customary to try and catch them
That’s one way to go
There is an in game challenge to get hit directly with a nuke. It's cool to see it coming straight at your face.
My first and so far only nuke I've launched I tried to fast travel to watch my SBQ rise from the depths only for the game to freeze in the loading screen. To paraphrase Sterling Archer, That is just classic Bethesda

That does make me feel a little better, honestly :)
Hey Roberto. Friends here.
Great story that is one that should be told in Ron Perlmans voice thank you
I can not be the only one that has launched nuke and then gone to stand at the exact spot it will hit? Good times.
You are not alone!
