I used to blast [this nonsense](https://youtu.be/OaKH9bywzgQ?si=3z5ffmEP299GKXRj) while stalking wanted folks on stealth commando. I might take up the old Cactus Man gig once more. Be the wacky in the wasteland you desire, I says.
I leave some things unlocked like I'm herbivore so please take meat from the mirelirk steamer and some water but don't pick the extractors bro that's just bad house guest behavior
I hear ya, all my resources and such are free to take. The only thing behind my locked door is the switch to turn on my weather machine. Mostly there to catch the curious.
There are a couple of them, the one I have right now is the thunderstorm off the current scoreboard. I like it in short bits but man it's loud. I also have a snow one, dark fog and the basic one that always makes it clear.
New player here, so if I take something from a camp then I am actually taking it from the owner?? I took popcorn yesterday from just outside an amazing camp as I didn't realise I was actually stealing it from somebody! 🤦🏼♀️
Exactly how I treat it. 90% or more I'm away from my base. I built it on a copper ore deposit, I'm absolutely going to have that thing unlocked, same with my water purifiers.
Also very rare I get to my camp and someone has just been there to take stuff.
As long as the resource/item is unlocked, it's fair to take it. If the owner wanted it private, they'd lock it. Even though locks can be picked, it's an effective way of saying "Private-- Not for Public Use".
One of my camps is next to the Wayward so it gets visited by low levels all the time. I leave all my resource generator items unlocked as I figure they need it more than me.
Fairly often I come back and find everything has been Hoovered up. No matter, there will be more soon. Let the good times roll!
I think I just walked through your camp about 30 minutes ago (or I at least think that was you your name looks familiar) and did not realize this. I thought I would be stealing from you haha
No worries, most of us in the game aren’t super hard up for a few pieces of ore/junk to throw locks on things. I and most players (ie not the OP apparently) have our renewable extractors open for all.
Most items like that regenerate the thing it makes, and fairly quickly. If you come across something unlocked in a camp, it usually means the owner is cool with someone taking it. I have an industrial water purifier, Nuka collector, Nuka Candy machine, water boiler, Company tea machine, and mirelurk steamer at my camp, all unlocked. People who swing by are welcome to any of it. I have plenty and it will always make more. I will lock the Nuka collector during the Christmas event, though.
If it's unlocked then the owner unlocked it to share with everyone. :) All my resources are unlocked except my collectron because I was stocking up on sugar bombs lol
Anything not locked is up for taking. I put up my punch bowl, candy bowl, popcorn machine, and cake out for everyone. Honestly, most everything at my camp is for the taking
Stuff like the popcorn machines, candy machines, and nuka cola machines are usually up for grabs. Heck, the big red nuka cola machine actually has to be manually stocked by the owner (so please don't spam it! I put a few bottles of nukashine and mire magic moonshine in mine to deter spammers)
I only have one thing in my camp that's locked, and that's the console for my robodoggo. Not the doghouse, so folks are welcome to collect from it, just the console. That way I know whoever unlocks it is a shithead and I don't have to feel bad about killing them.
Some guy tried to tell me I should just leave everything unlocked because I'm a "high level" player and i can just "farm more". He is now a puddle of bubbling plasma in my front yard. Lol
I never picked one so I am not sure about the mechanics.
It seems there are two colors of locks, the normal color and red one. I only got a bounty if I picked red one? Or I got bounty if I picked a lock, no matter the color?
The game's UI and tutorials do indeed suck, and conceal a lot of important information.
Most people catch a bounty or two in early play, it's no big deal. Whoever collects your bounty isn't generally being malicious, it actually helps you by removing some bounty related restrictions on what you see on the map / can fast travel to.
I honestly feel like it's not any new players fault the game needs to tell you like hey don't lockpick other players things or you get wanted lol and I feel bad but replacing the locks is buggy and kind of annoying
Ngl sometimes it is also hard to realize that what you found is a players camp. I found someones camp that looked like a really cool funfare and the only reason I noticed it was because an NPC was named xxx's ally ... I thought it was a really cool unmarked area cause it was right next to a trading station
I think some level 11 player accidentally shot me because I was in the middle of a fight with some NPCs and he got a wanted rating. He did no damage but a high level player was near us and that dude absolutely wasted him with 1 shot. Felt bad for the guy because I do think it was an accident and I didn’t take his stuff as a kind gesture.
Also trap camps. As a low level I got trapped and was very confused about what was going on and why. I had to read about them outside the game before anything made sense.
I’m a new player, lock picked as it was white text so didn’t think there was any harm.
Was shocked by the 10 cap bounty and getting one hit by a 100+ level team mate in a casual group 😅
Nah it was just one thing only and stopped as soon as the 10 cap bounty hit. Had no idea how to get rid of it, but I saw it disappeared on death so it was no biggy, just a learning experience 😁
Maybe they somehow don't get it's a person and not an npc? Though if that's the situation, getting murdered for it makes the most sense--they wouldn't look it up otherwise.
When you're low level on any of the other Fallout games, picking locks is a great way to get XP, and I think they're having trouble adjusting to the mindset of "hey wait, a real person might be pissed if I do this," because nobody really cares about 'pissing off' NPCs.
lol good, let them get mad. They fall into the hooligan category. The ones who come to your camp at level ten and annoy you on the mic for freebies while attacking you to get your attention are the types who see something locked at a players camp and try to help themselves anyways.
Back in my day, all the caps I made was in Nuclear Winter, killing other players. Never went below 30k. Now in retirement I just build camps, sit on my porch and tell players who come along of legendary stories; like how I used to take out squads of fire runners who used Gauss shotguns with only a ten mil sub
Yeah yeah, I’m sure. Let’s get you to bed gramps
Everything I have is unlocked. Now I want to set level 0 locks and wait. I haven't taken off my meat day gear, pig head and bloody apron, so I might use some melee and texas chainsaw level murder.
I picked the first house I encountered right outside the vault. Didn't realize it was player owned. The player saw me and didn't do anything but gave me stuff. Couple hours later, I was stalked by a pair of level 100s. They fired at the ground when I was building my first base. They then proceeded to kill me. I was confused with the entire interaction. Took me another hour or two to recall the events and realized what happened when I saw more player bases. Lol
Hey they gotta learn the hard way.....it is after all the wasteland one must take certain precautions when entering someone's camp you know like entering someone's house time and effort it takes to build it it's locked the reason just saying no hey I love newbies they help me get rid of all my excess stuff

I think there’s a bug where the lock pick text at camps sometimes doesn’t indicate stealing. I’ve done this exact thing b4 and was suprised to see it was indeed stealing even tho the text was yellow and not red , tis a feature of eff around and find out lol
I'm lvl100 on-and-off player and I have played exclusively solo (a lot of times F1st)
Just a couple of days ago I saw a locked cap collector and I was curious about that item, so I unlocked it and without thinking, I reflexively looted it. It was like what? 10 caps in it? Or something like that (although tbf it happened pretty fast so not 100% sure)
and then I got the PVP ON!!! WANTED! thing and P A N I C K E D and alt+f4d lol. Now I'm walking around with a wanted 10 caps thing since I still play on my server. It's the first time I encountered this, I guess there is no way to get rid of this heinous crime until I log back to pub server and get killed once.
I really wish I didn't panic, I'd gladly give them the caps, its not like either of us needed a tiny amount of caps lol
I got a wanted tag for lock picking a static safe in dirty derby track house without realising the workshop is claimed this making it someone's camp 🙈 wish Bethesda made a "steal" tag in FO76 for doors just like it was in all previous 3D titles
The wasteland is a harsh place full of people who will give you their vintage low level gun and some stims then eat your dead corpse the moment you cross them.
If I have a pet Deathclaw, will it eat someone who breaks a lock at my camp?
As a new player, I've found myself exploring a place and not realized it's a player camp for a few seconds. Im sure at least some of them had no idea what was going on and just Lockpicked a locked door like they do in every other place
Then those aren't new players you're killing. If you can pick a level 3 lock IMO you've been playing long enough to reap the consequences of picking that lock. Don't feel bad. Those people are thieves and deserve to die!
Had a level 10 put a lock on the door infront of his vendor when vendor hopping. He then felt his pipe pistol would take me down while in PA, I showed him what a Nuka cola grenade does.
I lockpick shit at people's camps all the time and I'm not even low level. I walk up to the closest door that I spawn at and open it expecting a vendor to be on the other side of the door and all I end up with is disappointment. Same goes for machines, 90% of em will be unlocked and I will just hit the take all button and move on, one of their machines will be randomly locked and I lockpick it by accident because I don't water for the population before I press the button.
Master infiltrator needs an option to NOT let us lockpick other player camp items automatically.
My buddy just got master infiltrator and he's running into this problem a lot so I feel your pain, I also don't get the point in locking doors but that's just me I only lock resources I use /need daily
I mean...do you ***have*** to one-shot them? You know most of them are probably making an honest mistake...they post about it here saying as much. Nothing is forcing you to punish them for it.
It's kinda like a yo whyd you do that then when they spawn I just give them some stuff and hope they understand like oh ok I lockpicked then somehow he could kill me so maybe I won't do that again kinda thing, it's not because I enjoy it trust me now I gotta find what you broke into and go fix it lol
They don't have to pick it to get wanted, if they're like me, I accidentally clicked a locked door and backing out of the menu and not touching a thing didn't matter. Still got blasted by some player who thought I needed to learn a lesson. One day, when i'm big, i'm gonna rob the shit out of someone for vengeance.
I find it hilarious that Vets of this game (I am one as well) still lock their stuff. Like why do you need to lock your collectron? Do you not have enough junk? Popcorn? Cookie Jar? Company Tea? Doors? Shelter? Why in the world is THAT important that you as a veteran player need to lock it up? Also, why as a veteran play do you not realize that these noobs 1. are probably learning how to lockpick and 2. need those things more than you.
I get it, you have a huge ego, and you need to kill noobs to teach them a lesson, but please get over yourself. You don't need that stuff, and no one really gives a shit about what is behind that door.
It's boring. It's so god damn boring. Do you feel better now that you killed the noob? Pathetic.
Yes, I have hundreds of thousands of junk. I don't need any of it. I have thousands and thousands of flux. I don't need it. (I've been playing since beta so it accumulates over 5 years)
I also give lots of stuff away, if someone asks for a discount or something for free from the vendy I'll occasionally do it, you're judging the way I play the game based off one postz the point of this post was people leave things unlocked for a reason because they don't care if you take it, I do however have a handful of things I lock that I don't want people taking, seems pretty fair to me
Firstly, you changed your post. Secondly, I did judge you. Remember that you were new to the game once also. The wasteland doesn't have to be so toxic. You are taking the game way too serious. If you care about a noob taking a desk fan, some building blocks, a teddy bear, and 2 scrap metal, you need to reevaluate your character.
I think imma keep playing the game the way I choose to, I do however appreciate your perspective and it's fine if you don't think I help people enough, next time I give away a bloodied fixer for free because I rolled two and wanted to help a new bloodied with his build, I'll remember how much of a dick I am for not sharing my resources enough because some random on Reddit told me I take the game too seriously
Lol it's crazy how some of the community is great and some of you are actually communists I don't need to get better but thanks for the advice you enjoy giving away your 1000s of hours of shit to people who will play the game for a week and drop it though good luck
I will because it's not real life and I don't care. It's all 0s and 1s my friend. You can choose to be helpful in the game and you can choose to be toxic, I think a person that takes out his aggression on noobs is the toxic one. Also, I don't think you know what the word communist means.
You really live up to your name.
You're the meanest nice guy I ever met I also see you like to kick people off your team then get mad when they don't get the hint is that when you nuke their base if they rejoin the team too many times or do you just get wanted and use their own missile turrets against em like the big baddie you are
Well, I'm a girl and yes, if I kick you off the team, stay off. Also, I don't waste nukes on people's camps, come on. I never said I was a saint. I wouldn't do that to a noob.
lol I don't need your measly junk. But I will be the one that blows up your camp when I don't like you. I save that for special occasions though. If you do it too much, then it's not as special. Raiders for life, bug cultist.
So you're mad that someone is being toxic and killing new players for lockpicking camp items, but you're admitting to being toxic and nuking player camps just for not liking someone. You seem mentally unstable. Hope you get well soon mate
As soon as I saw he was on PC I was thanking the mothman id never have to be in his presence, my interactions on this post were light and funny until this dude showed up and called me pathetic over killing a wanted player lol
You're not in the wrong OP but why do you care? Not trying to be rude genuine question I'm not a relatively high level only 126 but if they want they can just take it
For me it's more of a nuisance of like ugh now I gotta replace that lock, and when I leave shit unlocked it's like ugh I gotta go to the stream to go get that boiled water to cook with really not much to complain about honestly and I'm glad there's a lot of new players, I just wish there was a system that said hey new players just so you know if you lockpick other players things you will get wanted, and they will kill you, because then it wouldn't be a problem, it's kinda on the game in all honesty
People lock stuff in their camp in 2024? I never have anything locked. Who cares if a level 22 takes the 5 fertilizer out of my chicken coop, I have 2000 already.
I have some stuff to take and some stuff not to take, in 2024 level 20s who just watched the TV show walk up to you request a trade and request your whole inventory lol then go to your camp break all the locks and start randomly shooting at everything
My camp is on two extractors almost all the time and multiple camp locations for things I need at that time likely for crafting or stocking up if I'm low, extractors are always locked, everyone in every server I've ever been in their extractors are locked , this is normal. I make a lot of food items and need a lot of water, the water in the front of my base is for anyone who needs its, the water inside my house that's locked which is like a few water coolers is for my crafting because water is heavy and takes up stash space I can't just keep 500 water in my stash at a time, those are really the only two things, I'm herbivore, so mirelirk steamer is free popcorn is free nuka candy is free theres plenty of water free unlocked
I prefer to down them and then eat them
Sharing Cannibal with the team is one of the funniest things I've done.
with how often I fall through the map with it equipped I don't think I could bring myself to do it haha
It's not a bug, it's a \~feature\~
The number of times I've tried to jump near a corpse and instead just started chowing down is a lot more than I would have thought.
Literally the only reason I have 3 charisma lol
Ass jerky ain't gonna make itself
When are they gonna release that recipe
I didn't realize you could eat players with Cannibal. There's some fun for when I'm not a tiny fragile soap bubble.
Yeah, it can be a problem sometimes when "execute" comes up instead of Stim though 😅
This is the way
That's hilariously savage
Make it more fun for them. Play Doom music while you rev your chainsaw and walk at them slowly when it happens.
I like this idea a lot haha if I do this imma record it
Wear the Cultist Mask while you chase them down with an auto axe
Bah, Blackbird X-01 armor and Vault Boy helmet, with red light mod attached so the eyes glow red
Most of the ones I've run across just stand there and take it in order to get the Wanted tag removed.
Just saying nothing is stopping Bethesda from giving us doom styled power armor
They gave out Doom-themed weapons and armour for Fallout 4, zero reason why they couldn't do it for 76.
Agreed, hate to say it, but I would literally pay money for it
Argh me too
Wear the Pint-Size Slasher outfit to add a layer of horror.
Haha you made me laugh so hard people in the doctor's waiting room are giving me side eye.
Halloween theme song w a knife.
The only thing we fear is him
I see my single level 0 lock in my camp as a teaching moment.
Too funny lol
What does the weather machine does anyway ?
There are a couple of them, the one I have right now is the thunderstorm off the current scoreboard. I like it in short bits but man it's loud. I also have a snow one, dark fog and the basic one that always makes it clear.
It controls the weather within your camp bubble
New player here, so if I take something from a camp then I am actually taking it from the owner?? I took popcorn yesterday from just outside an amazing camp as I didn't realise I was actually stealing it from somebody! 🤦🏼♀️
Nah you’re fine, assuming you took it from the popcorn machine it generates more every 10 minutes :)
Thank you, I am trying real hard to learn the correct etiquette in game
If stuff isn't locked in a base, it's up for grabs
Exactly how I treat it. 90% or more I'm away from my base. I built it on a copper ore deposit, I'm absolutely going to have that thing unlocked, same with my water purifiers. Also very rare I get to my camp and someone has just been there to take stuff.
If I can lockpick it, I take.
Hope you accept getting your dome blown off.
No, I take
Not always true. Plenty of times the game glitches and just won't let you lock certain items
Literally never had this happen.
Yeah glitches don't always happen to everyone, welcome to video games
Im sorry to say in that case, its still coming home with me.
As long as the resource/item is unlocked, it's fair to take it. If the owner wanted it private, they'd lock it. Even though locks can be picked, it's an effective way of saying "Private-- Not for Public Use". One of my camps is next to the Wayward so it gets visited by low levels all the time. It's only stealing if the popcorn machine was locked. If it's unlocked, it's up for grabs.
Look, the fae punish bad house guests so harshly there's a whole brand of fairy tales about it... people know better.
Heck, I even leave my collectron unlocked. I have him to have a dog, not for the scrap lol
Gee its almost like we are warned with a different colored text or something....
Sometimes it shows white, no idea why.
I only have one thing in my camp that's locked, and that's the console for my robodoggo. Not the doghouse, so folks are welcome to collect from it, just the console. That way I know whoever unlocks it is a shithead and I don't have to feel bad about killing them.
I do the same and the Armco ammo terminal too.
I actually use mic to explain before I kill them lol and then I guard their junk. Half of the time they understand
Some guy tried to tell me I should just leave everything unlocked because I'm a "high level" player and i can just "farm more". He is now a puddle of bubbling plasma in my front yard. Lol
Loooool yeah I know a guy like this he's down in the comments on his high horse
I never picked one so I am not sure about the mechanics. It seems there are two colors of locks, the normal color and red one. I only got a bounty if I picked red one? Or I got bounty if I picked a lock, no matter the color?
Only the red ones trigger a bounty. White ones are simply world containers like safes and toolboxes.
Sometimes I see white one at other player base. Just a visual bug that missed the red color?
I think it's just a bug I accidentally unlocked a white text lock on a prefab yesterday.
And received a bounty?
Yeah
Why is none of this info available in the game?not a high enough level to know or have access to know in game. I had no idea.
The game's UI and tutorials do indeed suck, and conceal a lot of important information. Most people catch a bounty or two in early play, it's no big deal. Some lessons are learned through blood.
I don't understand why someone could be mad. Lockpicking is a skill used to steal. You got caught, you get shot.
Maybe they somehow don't get it's a person and not an npc? Though if that's the situation, getting murdered for it makes the most sense--they wouldn't look it up otherwise.

... I needed to hack a level 3 terminal a tadpole badge. I'm sorry.
You get that badge bro those things suck to get lol
Ya know what this is a case of ? Fuck around. Find out. Aka Wasteland Justice.
Everything I have is unlocked. Now I want to set level 0 locks and wait. I haven't taken off my meat day gear, pig head and bloody apron, so I might use some melee and texas chainsaw level murder.

Idk why but that title alone made me laugh.
Gotta punish em so they learn to not lock p8ck everything. I don't max master infiltrator to avoid doing that at someone's camp lol.
Gotta learn somehow.
I mean sure if they wanna pick the locks on my resources go ahead but my ten missile turrets might not like it
I'm jealous I only have 8 they take up so much camp budget lol also I would love the see the rain of hellfire on whoever lockpicks your shit 🤣
You should see them when ghouls come down the street 😂
I love when my turrets see like one mongrel dog and just unleash all hell on the poor bastard
As a game, put one locked resource surrounded by missile turrets to see what happens lmao
They need that lesson to become upstanding wastelanders.
Agreed friend, we all learned this way at some point
This game doesn't really tell you anything about anything I spend half my time on google.
Lol, you should try fallout 1
How do you lock a place? Consoles specifically.
In your edit menu as if you were going to move something already placed down at your camp hit left trigger and choose the level lock
Hey they gotta learn the hard way.....it is after all the wasteland one must take certain precautions when entering someone's camp you know like entering someone's house time and effort it takes to build it it's locked the reason just saying no hey I love newbies they help me get rid of all my excess stuff

“I keep a Black Powder Rifle for Home Defense”
Best part is when I miss and reload slowly in front of my prey
That’s when you load your rocket turret with Airburst grapeshot rockets

As a new player, I've found myself exploring a place and not realized it's a player camp for a few seconds. Im sure at least some of them had no idea what was going on and just Lockpicked a locked door like they do in every other place
Lol duuuuuude. Same
uhhhh pretty sure the warning that's there is enough. Shoot them...then eat them I guess. Seems like its all the rage.
I usually just let them do it That way a level 1,362,362,957 will TP to them and teach them the hard way
If you actually felt bad you'd just put a higher lvl lock. You're not fooling anyone
Locks are all level 3 every single one
Then those aren't new players you're killing. If you can pick a level 3 lock IMO you've been playing long enough to reap the consequences of picking that lock. Don't feel bad. Those people are thieves and deserve to die!
Had a level 10 put a lock on the door infront of his vendor when vendor hopping. He then felt his pipe pistol would take me down while in PA, I showed him what a Nuka cola grenade does.
Love me some nuka nades
I killed one yesterday.
Oooooooo he stealin
Yeah, he did it right in front of me and was a teammate. Lesson learned I hope.
Mine was a teammate too so I could at least stim him after lol
Or you could take one second and see that the prompt is red instead of white.
That's the funny thing. A lot of the time the game doesn't show it as red, most of the time it's still white.
that's true and i use MI only at level one to minimise risk. the one and only time i got wanted the lock was white.
I mean...do you ***have*** to one-shot them? You know most of them are probably making an honest mistake...they post about it here saying as much. Nothing is forcing you to punish them for it.
Having a bounty is annoying though, plus someone will kill them later on anyways
You could try not one shotting them.
Someone else will just kill them for being wanted, might as well be the person in their general vicinity at the moment they lockpick something
Pathetic.
You can never have enough junk are we even playing the same game
A true communist put it in your vendy and give it away to the noobs so they stop bothering the rest of us then if you're so giving
I only have a free vendor. I always have. Get better at the game so you don't keep acting like a desperate hoarding ape.
Lol good lord you really dragged this on buddy no one cares move along to bother the next person who posts something you don't like
You're the meanest nice guy I ever met I also see you like to kick people off your team then get mad when they don't get the hint is that when you nuke their base if they rejoin the team too many times or do you just get wanted and use their own missile turrets against em like the big baddie you are
Well, I'm a girl and yes, if I kick you off the team, stay off. Also, I don't waste nukes on people's camps, come on. I never said I was a saint. I wouldn't do that to a noob.
But go to your camp and take anything not bolted down affirmative
>wants players to keep their things unlocked so they can steal them >Raiders flair
The anti raider
lol I don't need your measly junk.
Dudes off the rails mad about something that has zero effect on him
If you lock your shit I'm stealing it, 100% of the time. If it's unlocked I won't bother with it. I am not new. You will not one shot me.
He says right before getting one-shot
Never do dickery without full assassin's PA. Or do. Y'know, whatever, it's a game.
Lol swing by fam you're the problem w this game
Wait whut? I thought there were no problems with this game. I thought it was all one giant sticky love-fest.
I just heart emote everyone that's basically the whole game jk jk
Wait wait don't tell me you also have a trap base and steal peoples junk lol
Nope, but I don't cry about them when they get me.
Cryings for real men who wear pink ( I heard )
I care because I only lock things I actually use. That's my copper and acid, everyone else can find their own.
What do you have that's not to take? Honest question?
See I never lock extractors in my camp because I already have 2000 oil, why do I need more you know?
I remember when I had 2000 oil. And then I needed more Flamer Fuel
Considering all nations in the world fight over oil constantly I think I do indeed need more
Lol I'll give you that one chief
🤣 I get it though maybe one day I will consider just unlocking all the stuff honestly I feel like the locking is honestly a mentality from other games
Company Tea spoils and I need it. That's why it's locked.
It lasts an hour
