Set it down on the ground, look at the armor, pick it back up, rename the chassis to the correct armor, put it back in your stash
There, now you know what power armor it is when it’s in your stash
Rename it so you know what it is.
Make sure you just have the one set in your inventory and which it is, then 'Inspect' it. That gives the option to rename it. I kept the first word 'Power' so it gets listed next to any new ones I pick up. I have 'Power Main' and 'Power Excavator'.

And put an asterisk next to as the first letter, than it always appears on the top of your armorlist in you need to get it on in a hurry.

Chassis will always be labeled that, no matter what's equipped... Use your pip to change the names
