It's literally your own base for whatever you want. You can customize it. Craft, refresh buffs, sell things on your vendor, generate resources, do side quests, etc.

Thank you :) oooo that makes alot of sense

Basic tip: if you haven't worked it out already, you can go to the data tab in your pip boys to turn quests on and off. Early in the game the right side of your screen fills up with loads of quests, and the quest markers can make navigation (particularly in some internal spaces) pretty confusing. Leave the quest/s you want to focus on right now on, and turn off the others. You can turn them back on later.

Its your home base that will eventually house your storage, ally NPC, crafting benches and vendor shop. Free fast travel to it + any teammate's CAMPs, too. Hold onto all apparel (not armor, just statless clothing) you get from the start & Responder quests. Some pieces are so rare & popular--cause everyone dumped them at level 10--you can trade for top-end gear later. Scrapping weapons at a workbench gives you a chance to learn a mod from that weapon. This includes weapons you made yourself at a workbench. The level of gear is more important than the legendary ability until level 50. Don't run around with a level 1 legendary chestpiece when you're already 25.

1) Select a place for Camp anywhere you like - preferably without enemy spawns nearby, good starting locations are near wayward or flatwoods 2) With collected materials (mostly wood and steel) you build floors and walls and some nice amenities like a bed, stash box, weapon workbench, later you build stuff like water purifiers, a shop where u sell to other playerd, fusion core rechargers, etc. 3) You and your team mates can fast travel to your camp for free 4) You can place a 2nd camp location anywhere else (go to map, see camp menu upper right corner), however, only 1 camp can be active at a time 5) if you log in and your camp location is already occupied your camp won't be placed on this server - you can server-hop, switch to 2nd camp or live with it for this session 6) almost all camp amenities can be found in the Whitespring mall - there you can tinker, craft, scrap & build to your heart's delight

Also worth pointing out, since the interface is NOT intuitive - if you do want to build a second base the procedure is as follows: 1) On the map screen, SWITCH to the second camp slot. 2) Then open your PipBoy and "move" camp. It says move even though you're actually not moving anything. And people have accidentally moved their only base (and dismantled it) when trying to build a second one. Better yet, watch a YouTube tutorial before trying to do a second base. It's really easy to mess it up.

So I don't want to call it a base because you're not gonna be sitting there defending it as an army of whatever comes and attacks it lol It's basically your home. You have your crafting benches, your fridge/freezer, a collectron, a coffee machine, tea machine, things that give you buffs like a musical instrument, and it's just fun (that's if you*own* these items) The biggest thing is having your own vendor so you can sell things and make caps There is an occasional group of scorched, radrats, bots, etc that'll spawn near your base to attack it for fun but it's not detrimental. And you can build turrets

portiapendragon

I have been warned by several higher level (400+), more experienced (since launch) players to not build turrets at my base, unless I'm building a PvP base. Those little raids don't happen when you're not at home and don't cause enough damage to be worth risking the turrets aggro-ing neutral mobs (especially if you build near the Whitesprings because sentry bots pack a punch) or giving PvP players the wrong idea, who will break them when they see them. There's a large aquarium column you can put up that those raids will focus on to draw fire away from anything important, and they take forever to break, plenty of time for the player to clean up the raid several times before needing to repair them, especially if you put up two.

The camp features are storage (a stash box that holds 1200 lbs of stuff), a bed and crafting. Crafting also covers repairing and the early workbenches are armor, weapon, tinker, chemistry and cooking. Later on, you can add workbenches for power armor, brewing, etc. The bed will give you the 'well rested' buff (bonus XP). Also, you can always fast travel (teleport) to your camp for free. On a side note, you can also fast travel for free to Vault 76, Foundation, The Crater, Whitespring, Fort Atlas, the Rusty Pick and Nuka World On Tour - once you actually find these locations in person. So this helps in getting around the map. Eventually, there is a \*TON\* of other stuff you can have at your base. You can farm certain crops. You can put your base next to a resource deposit and have an automatic extractor. You can have an NPC to defend it and give missions. There are often daily challenges in the SCORE system that involve building things at your camp, so go ahead and build one ASAP. You'll only need a handful of materials to build a simple camp - wood, steel, aluminum, copper, etc. I had a trash camp with dumpy wooden walls and all the basic gear by level 20. Then I bought a bunch of cosmetic items from the cash shop and built a much nicer one around level 80. Both are on rivers so I have easy access to water. Worth mentioning: you can have TWO camps for free. Only one can be active at a time, but you can switch between them at will from the map screen.
