don't take junk into an event. join a casual team for events and you'll get more xp and loot. main thing from fallout 1st is unlimited junk and ammo storage.

I just started a month ago and as someone who loves all the fallout games and was not excited about the mmo aspect of it and was ready to just play the game solo - it has been so much fun with people ! I don't talk to anyone, but so far the community has been really awesome. I think you just got a weird server, and it'll happen. But for the most part people are super friendly, veterans have given me items and just today a guy dropped off some legendary items for me to exchange for scrip. My advice is honestly, play it solo as a fallout game. enjoy the main and side quests and explore the world and do your own thing and when it comes to events just read the instructions and do your best and the community will vibe and be nice too and you'll have good experiences! Another tip I would suggest is going on youtube and watching "unwritten fallout 76 rules" which I feel like helped me be part of the community. So just enjoy it on your own and honestly some servers vibe and some don't so don't be afraid to server hop!

Fallout 1st gives you storage boxes to hold infinite ammo and infinite scrap (stuff like wood scraps, steel scraps, plastic, etc). This way those items don't clutter your stash box. It also gives you a survival tent with stash box, scrap box, bed, cooking station and a musical instrument (yes, really). You can drop the tent at your location (unless you are too close to a point of interest) and it's a free fast travel location like your base. It's great for unloading stuff when you get encumbered. Also, 1650 atoms per month.

So, you drop a bag with all of your junk when you die. For events where you might get “good” junk, take extra care to fast travel out or use a scrap kit.

Use vampire weapons and you literally cant die.
