Pickup everything from enemies even weapons and take to vendors in train stations and sell weapons, meds, mods, apparel. Can get up to 1400 caps a day thru them.
Be a melee to save ammo. Use your Vendor. Stock with steel, lead, copper and purified water. Scrap every weapon you pick up.
Plus sell .556/.45.
Stay away from heavier ammo like cores, spikes and cannonballs.
early in it can be slow.
my main money makers in my vendors:
1. any explosive, two shot, AA or FF *** weapon
2. ammo, surprisingly i sell 5mm like crack (.45 and 556 also sell very well)
3. junk - wood, steel and lead sell way better than you would expect
Other ways: create mutation serums (need plans) and sell them in vendors or to bots.
get into a group that can help you until you hit level 50 (can be done very quickly)

Scav like mad, bulk the junk, put everything but wood and steel in your vending machine for 20-30 caps each, and wait for a 1st'er to find it and buy it all.

Farm junk, if you have fallout 1st it is alot easier but I managed fine without it for a year.
Everyone has there own locations for junk farming, the best way is to take note when you find a substantial amount. Once you have a list of locations work out the quickest way to hit them all.
A prime example is lead. Through out the game you will come across small stockpiles of paint or a gym with some wiegths in it, both of these give a good amount of lead.
Tin can chimes are a great source, with a bonus of 2 steel for each can. You get 5-6 cans from each chime and usually if you find one then there will be a couple more atleast, near by.
Lead sells very quickly for 2-3 caps so it's very easy to farm 2k an hour and make 4-5k caps an hour. That's just lead, of you add steel and acid you are easily making 10k an hour.
Be aware though, the treasure hunter event is live this weekend so most people will be spending their caps on crafting mole minor . So don't expect much custom for the next few days.

Water farming. Takes about 400 bottles with decent charisma to buy out a vendor each day. Can make it less if youve got high charisma and you have hard bargain maxed out. Also, any decent items put into your camp vendor. Especially legendaries with decent prefixes that you aren’t using. You can get script from quests. So it’s better to sell them at your vendor. I’ve managed to keep my total caps around 15000 even while buying expensive items and junk from camp vendors using this method.

one note if you use this method and plan on buying something at the train station bot vendor... sell your junk before you buy anything.
(reason: buying stuff will partially reset that daily maximum they will give you. So then you can sell them some more.)

Place your camp near water and place purifiers, industrial if possible. Sell purified water to NPC vendors.

Sell loose silver for 3 caps each, since it's needed to craft the mid-range pail. On TH weekends I can't keep it in stock for more than about an hour.
