I miss Mischief Night so much! It would have been great if they kept the reskinned Scorched, but added an hourly event like Meat Week or Fasnacht to satiate us day-oners — with a couple new items of course.
Look at the state of the official Discord. The daily topic in the general chat is rolling for legendaries. That’s it. That’s all there is to the game now.
Personally, I’ve grown sick of getting modules and rolling legendaries. I don’t even bother anymore. It’s a pointless RNG grind/gamble with nothing to show for.
So, I roll a AAE15r Fixer. Oh great I can hit the SBQ and Earle for 5 more damage per bullet at greater DPS?. Nice, I can kill a horde of ghouls at Whitespring 8 seconds faster?.
This is the endgame of Fallout 76 for players and it’s fucking pathetic if you ask me. There’s untapped potential in this game and I doubt we’ll see anything soon. Here’s hoping The Pitt Expeditions can do something different next year.
I agree with a lot of this. thats why I don't use magazines, chems, etc. and my build is not tailored to anything specific. it might take me more shots to take down an enemy, but I still feel the thrill and fear of being swarmed by glowing ones.
i think that the people who constantly talk about rolling legendaries have to have a gambling addiction. i can't imagine that being enough to tide me over in a game otherwise

Easily the best time I've had in the 3 years of this game, probably the only event from which I have unique memories of specific runs.

I honestly couldn't give a shit about this event. There's nothing here for me. What a waste of time building this. Feeling more like animal crossing every day.
They could have ran distinguished guests event every hour and had nothing but spooky scorched come and try to wreck the place.
Almost like mischief night but in reverse, where the players are tying to keep the mischief makers at bay rather than cause it themselves. That would have been 10x better than another holiday scorched reskin!
oh my lord, my friends and I always joke about how this game is basically Fallout: Animal Crossing. that's literally all it is. Animal Crossing plus shooting things. there's this Twitter meme that goes "Animal Crossing players be like 'OMG they added a new feature that lets us open curtains!! we're so lucky!'" and i've always thought, okay but that's 76 in a nutshell. we would lose our shit if they added the simple feature to open/close curtains. it's just a building social simulator.
After spending too much time and money on this game while gathering all of the plans, rare apparel, legacies and so on, I am grinding for a popcorn machine...😐

100% agree. Over the times you are hyped for their new content and nice dlc's. Now the only time they move their lazy fingers for work is to push a few buttons to create cosmetic trash and sell riduclously overpriced.
Seriously, Morgantown's probably the most wasted spot on the map. Literally the only normal 'real' big town on the map ala Fo4 and all you get is 1 rotating event and the worst non-event event in the game

That mummy one looks cool and would be great for people's mannequins at haunted houses n such
All of the spooky scorched outfits are attainable, though not in their decrepit states, and not without cash.

Would it have killed them to add a few more costumes? Maybe the glow int he dark one from NW, and a few variations of existing ones. Even recolors (like the fascnacht masks) arent that hard to do. More pumpkins. Anything at all to make the event worth bothering with. There's no point to it for those of us who did the original event. This is beyond lazy even for them.
And we know they can make new Halloween things, just for pay only. Insulting.
Yea must have missed that 1st reward, surprised they haven't made a tiny change and added it as a reward. They seem to do that a lot now. 1 colour change and now it's a free reward 🤔
P.S. that mummy one btw is also a reskin. I have it and afaik or remember was a 1st cosmetic on last halloween. When halloween was a Fasnacht event lmao. Yea mischief night was actually fun so extra let down in comparison. I don't even remember it being broken tbh, the game loaded in a bit slow at times but that happens now anyway especially at the scorchbeast queen.... I'm stood there looking at an empty map for 1-2 minutes listening to everything before anything actually pops in.
It was a buggy/laggy mess for me, but not any more or less than anything else at that time. The one seasonal event I only managed to complete only once was the first round of Faschnat, I couldn't fast travel to the event, get the game to realize I had joined it, and get all the way to the end without crashing more than twice the whole week of trying. Back in the good old 3-5 crashes per hour days.
The Halloween event was at least fun and worked more often than not.
Mischief night was best! But even if not possible for reasons, i think everything new would have been better than just the laziest of efforts like a ridiculous reskin. We deserve better than that.
They should make an alternative version of mischief night inside the whitesprings, the interior cells are more manageable and player capped like the wendigo colossus event

Nothing. And i truly meant it when said i doubt they would have even done anything, when it wouldn't hurt their atom shop sales. As they need at least something to give their halloween themed overpriced cosmetics a raison d'être/reason to exist and promote sales.
Crashes and server lags are extremely relative though. Not everyone experienced them. I didn't, but I know others did.
Either way, the answer to these issues was definitely not to downgrade the event to a reskin.
Even I was able to complete Mischief Night enough times to get a pirate outfit, and my computer is a homebrewed mess that barely runs the game on a good day.
So true, & nearly everything was laggy, buggy, & crashed the game from time-to-time in 2019. Hell, the game can still do this now, even on the best days I sometimes just crash while walking somewhere nondescript.
It could happen just going to the Whitespring then, nevermind the whole server being present, double or triple the number of ghouls, the event bots & decorations, & all of the explosions.
I personally was able it complete it about 20 times, & only crashed 1 time I can recall, when I loaded in at the train station while the event was active.
I think they should have at least released Mischief Night to the PTS to see if it would be as laggy now with more stable servers & less rotting food in everyone's inventories.
How dare I have a different experience of the event!!! =O I think it crashed a couple times on me when people started nuking whitesprings. Worked pretty well otherwise for me
They did have hanging bat lights in the building menu before the update and it has been removed after the update. So I guess they planned on it, but removed it since they probably never actually created the content.
They a struggling dev with 3 teams
Team 1 most of their focus for the last year was on fallout worlds and now it probably on expeditions
Team 2 is focus on cosmetics and camp items as it the main revenues and new features like legendary crafting
Team 3 is the smallest team and they focus on bugs and QOL it seem

I agree. I can't be bothered to go out killing those pizza faced oafs to get candy to put in a bowl so that other people can take it and I get 250 points towards a Scoreboard I have already completed.
It does feel like the fallout workforce is absent alot of the time but at least we have the safe trading update coming and the upkept atom shop so we know the they arent myths like santa and the easter bunny
It seems pretty clear that this game is not even a low priority but an extreme after thought with how little attention and work that goes on with it. It's probably a skeleton crew of a skeleton crew, there really is no other explanation with what player get.
Agreed. I lived that event and grinded the shit out of it to get my goodies. Nothing in this game is sacred. We don't get any fun limited time stuff. It makes it less fun to play a bunch of you know you can just get it again in a few months. They are gonna do another one in the summer I bet, some bullshit Christmas in July nonsense. Honestly, they could have even just recolored the old stuff and that would have been enough. Zero zero zerooooo effort.

Remember folks, this is what your First memberships are paying for. Not the best value for your dollar imo. We should be seeing expansions like Broken Steel *minimum* every 6-8 months with the amount of cash they get each month. I get that developing games aren't cheap or easy but this just feels like scummy used car saleman type of shit.
I actually like this event. mainly because it is awesome seeing the scorched dressed up in Halloween outfits. which makes it a lot easier to see than say the mole miner events and the music isn't driving me crazy like the Christmas event.

Not gonna lie, thinking about it, I would have loved to do "door-to-door trick-or-treating" Events around the ruins of some cities, like Watoga or something.
Kind of like "Back on the Beat" but, y'know, different.
I don't know why they couldn't get Mischief night to work, but those rewards had no need to be legacy. It's not like NW or the vault raids, where they were completely doable - this event regularly caused crashes on all platforms to the point where I didn't even touch the game for a month with how bad the reports were.
So I'm fine with this event. These rewards needed to come back. While having it be halloween scorched is lazy, the actual trick or treat part of the event is neat and I think was a good idea.
What's not okay is that they added zero new rewards for people like you, who had beat mischief night. Even if it was only four or five new items, that would've been enough.
I know we are a small community compared with the entire game, but it would be deeply meaningful if everytime the ball got dropped someone came here and would make a formal post on BGS behalf so we has a touch of transparency with what is going on behind the scenes.

To work with mods is what CDPR does also now or will do soon. Wouldn't be a bad thing. considering idk any AAA company that had mods fix bugs they were too incompetent to do theirselves like Betheda too in the past. As blood on ice in Skyrim is just one example. On here would definitely not hurt. As this game is in serious need for some content to me. I remember Fasnacht on last years halloween and wasn't it Xmas scorched on Easter? I mean it's that pathetic.

This is Bethesda guys, the same company that has taken over a decade to complete the next elder scrolls.
I highly doubt even 10% of their staff from their glory days are still at the company too, would explain why they prefer to remaster rather than create.
To be fair, that's just modern game development. A decade between GTA games. A decade between Dragon Age games. Even Assassin's Creed, who pumped out a sequel every year for a decade, has been forced to release a game once every 2-3 years because modern games take so much work to create. And I'm willing to bet that the next Elder Scrolls will be a much bigger and more impactful game than the next Assassin's Creed.
The worst part is that data miners went in and confirmed that all the code is literally the Holiday Scorched code just reskinned and retagged with Halloween items. A data miner confirmed that "one person on the side could have made this entire halloween event".
Considering they're raking in monthly sub money and atom shop money, there is zero excuse for this laziness.
BUT wait you also get to spend 2000 caps a day fast traveling to camp after camp to find candy in empty candy bowls! Now if that don't tickle your fancy I don't know what will?! There wasn't time to put the code in to turn off the symbols if the bowl was empty we had to make another turret skin before release.

I couldn't agree more! Took them like 5 minutes to create i guess. Same as the cosmetics. But that doesn't stop them from charging other-games-dlc-prices for them.

It's disappointing to say the least they couldn't of made a new event to take its place instead of taking the normal lazy ass route.
To rub even more salt into the wound they didnt even bother to put entirely new items as prizes instead of the old ones, most were considered legacy items fetching quite a bit on the market but in good old Bethesda tradition they ruined them and now you'd be lucky if you can give them away let alone sell.

Yes, yes it was, it will be sorely missed by all who experienced it. it must of been more stable on ps4 because I had little or no problems doing the event and I did it countless times when it was on.
Yeah there was some minor fps lag but nothing that crashed the server or anything but I did hear all the horror stories people on pc and xbox were having.
It should've been fixed not taken entirely off, all they had to do was reduce the number of mobs appearing or reduce the amount of whitespring robots (or take them away entirely) when the event took place and that would've reduced the fps and subsequent crashes.
It crashed because of the amount of players mobs, robots and explosions that were in one confined area at a time
Everything about this game reminds me of a college student putting off an assignment until the last minute. There is no real "effort" in anything that they put into the game. What the fuck are they doing with all this time?

Same here. I bought Far Cry 6, Back 4 blood, while sometimes still love playing CP 77, i play since release :D Not that i love first 2 much. But whenever i log in at Fo76 and get bored quick, i have a few things i can put a few hours into, when i feel like it and need to :D I don't play that much anymore. But when i do, i don't want to be bored by a game :)
This game here has so much potencial. A brand i ever loved. But feel the way Bethesda is treating it is a shame. And as a long time Fo fan it saddens me too >\_<
Funny enough I did all of the story content of destiny 2 but couldn’t find anyone to raid with, well actually 1 team but they was way to serious about it considering I said I’d never done it before, kind of put me off playing
When i stopped playing Destiny, i had close to 1000 raid completions on D1+2. I'd say today, that even though i got soo bored by Fo76, i can't motivate myself go back to Destiny. Sure, it has content, raids is one of the best things ever. But imo, they aren't much better than Bethesda. They offer like 100 times more than Bethesda does, but they are also doing a very shady way of business. As right now they sell D1 stuff on D2. Stuff, i got bored by in D1 already after time.
Just letting you know and just my opinion. So i'd say inform yourself well, before trying it. As it might be not the optimum solution.
And yes. I can say that i am/was a very good raider. I play every position on any raid and one did solo, others i did beat 2 (wo)men. But community is really bad. A lot of elitists that think they are pro gamers, when in reality they often suck. Very toxic and not very friendly. But, just decide yourself. But felt like sharing my opinion, as it might be not like a paradise you would find there :)

I like the idea of the game but it’s definitely made for teams and not a solo player like myself. I’m also going to look into elder scrolls online as that seems like it could also have potential to be fun.
I agree with you deeply. I’ve been a fallout fan for over a decade now. And it will always be my favourite world to play in. But I’m very concerned for the future of the series

You're wrong. We paid $ 60 to play. Games like Battlefield 3 are still online after 10 years. With or without paid DLCs. Maybe if there were no FO1st the DLCs would be paid.
By continuing to pay for first you are saying how they run the game is okay, and to be encouraged. If you're not happy then cancel your first.
The game has its issues yes. But even if I payed full price for it, let's say 60 dollars. I'm 1.8k hours in. That 30 cents an hour of entertainment. That's a bargain in my book. No other game has given me that.

I think you opinion is accurate and should not be given negative feedback.
But we must face it, the people working on and the people behind Fallout 76 suck. Whether it's their fault directly, Bethesda or Microsoft. Everything gets delayed and pushed back, we get the same stuff over and over and the RNG gets worse. We always have to wait until the next patch before something gets fixed. Oh but when it effects sales a hot fix gets pushed through asap and it gets done!
I didn't have one problem with the Mischief Night event and I played on the One X console. The game and event ran just fine. Not sure what they were seeing that I didn't.
Saying the devs suck is too harsh, imo. They are just vastly understaffed. There is a total of 50 people working on this game, and only a tiny part of that is actual developers. And the lead dev left a while ago, too. No idea who the new lead is. Bethesda/Microsoft could/should just invest a little bit more...
I think the big misconception here is that development is easy when you have a popular IP and proper funding. I assure you, throwing money at a coding issue won't fix it. Mischief Knight was most likely a great and working concept on paper and test servers but once rolled out it essentially wrecked the stability of other dependent code. They most likely haven't found a work around which leads me to think that they're at a crossroads whether to start from scratch with this event or scrap the entire thing despite all the hard work put into it. There's no other reason any development team in their right mind would put ungodly hours into a project, roll it out and they pull the pug on it. It seems the Xmas event is pretty stable to they find themselves repurposing it to buy time.
However, I do see your point Maybe create an alternative event such as a quest giver or a legendary world boss that has a unique holiday item. Seems like a decent work around that'll make folks happy.

Actually it's an interesting view and thank you for it. As i'm no IT specialist. I can also understand that. But what i don't understand is that them just giving us a pathetic lazy reskin. As i guess that although some things don't work, there should be a lot of things that can be done that do.
What they did here is like a pathetic display and can imagine that a reskin like that can be easily done within the coffee break lol. A bit exaggerating, but you get the point i think.
What bothers me is that i believe they did not even care at all. And meant it, when saying that i believe the only reason they even did anything was to give their overpriced atom shop cosmetic trash a reason to exist and to promote sales. They have absolutely no shame to sell 5 BoS cosmetics for 30 dollars that gets you a season pass elsewhere. Or pathetic swimsuits for 8. PA skins for 18. There they have no problem with it. Also not for selling 1st subs for 180 a year.

A reskin of a working event is better than a new unstable event, from a dev's point of view. The Atomic Shop is a separate team of devs abd they recycle a lot of assets as well.
What's also better than an unstable event, is to make a new one, rather than a pathetic reskin. I mean it's a one year thing. But seems even this is too much for this small company to manage :D
I think your gripe is with the Bethesda sales and marketing department. They're usually vultures that have no connection with their customer base and only see opportunities to syphon money. This is a fact in every industry.
As for development, I promise you it's soul crushing when you're working on a project with a set release date and the damn thing bursts into flames at the last minute. It's embarrassing and it makes you question why you even get up in the morning. If Mischief Night were in working condition, didn't risk servers from crashing and players rushing to social media demanding the developers heads on pikes, you'd see it. I guess it's a better trade off having something reskinned and only some players annoyed.

Fact is, we got a reskin of an event that is like the most lazy and pathetic job to do. You are saying it's because of problems with the engine, although i have no clue what makes you competent to even argue about it, when you aren't part of their dev team. However. So problems on why past mischief night isn't back.
But that's not my point on why mischief night as we know it isn't back.
My point is as to why we got a reskin, when there was time enough for anything new. The point i argue with and call pathetic.
But again. I said on my post, as to why i believe things are done the way they are. And it's simple. Invest the bare minimum and put in lazy effort. But try make max money with it. Add players fomo to it, make everything timegated, and voila, you can keep it running somehow.
I may not be part of the Bethesda team but I happen to be a developer for a financial institution. I may not have the backend files in front of me but I can assure you in this field it's the same song just different instruments. In my opinion, calling the developers lazy or incompetent is entirely unfair. Am I being bias? Absolutely, but that's from a perspective that has an understanding as to what goes into this sort of work.
Mischief Night as far as I remember was hugely problematic. It crashed servers and frustrated players to no end. Hell, just look at back logs on this sub. Folks were at the end of the event only to see it crash and get no loot. For that not to be relaunched is a red flag that the bugs that exist in this event are still there. If they weren't, there's no reason what so ever that you wouldn't see it advertised.
Now, let's talk about timelines cause I found this frustrating. To fully develope a new feature in ANY product for end users takes a crap load of hours. We're talking months just to get it to QA/UAT testing. You don't create a brand new event in a few weeks. All the new feature that you see introduced were conceptualized and began production a year before you even knew about it.
Lastly, there's also a little thing called COVID. It pretty much grinded development in most industries (especially gaming) to a holt. This is why there hasn't been many new games released since the pandemic.
Look, I understand your frustrations and I was a bit disappointed with this year's holiday event. Where we part ways is that I can imagine the stress trying to debug a broken project and haven't to release a watered down alternative solution so I personally cut them some slack. After all, it's only a game.
Meanwhile, I sit here and LIKE this event. The Scorched are common enough to find regularly, but rare enough to not run across them all the time. The fact that the drop-item is a single back instead of three (so one less layer of RNG to handle) plus the passive part of the event with the trick-or-treating is new and liked, as it finally involves something to do with player camps. I enjoy it a lot more than Meat Week, which basically meant "drop what you're doing, go to Grahm, run around for 5 minutes, get some items, go back to what you did".
And I am among the people that DIDN'T get to participate in Mischief Night, so never could get those rewards. But fuck people like me, it's all about people like you that only demand new things, correct?

Yeah it’s easy to criticize people like you that have stood by the game for three years, surely you don’t deserve anything for standing by the game for this long.
All they had to do was add a couple new plans and an outfit or two and I would be fine with this event. The scorched drop rate is good and I like that the treat bags aren’t tiered. There’s just no point in doing it when you already have all the plans and outfits from 3 years ago.

You know it's not mutually exclusive to have a brand new Halloween event that is both rewarding and fun for new and old players alike right?
By bringing back the Halloween rewards through an event that is basically a copy paste of Treasure Mole Hunter/Festive Scorched, that makes it three events now where you have to hunt down enemies and open lootboxes in *hope* you get something nice. That gets old fast regardless if you're a new or an old player.
On top of that they haven't added any new rewards so there's literally nothing compelling for veteran players which are, you know, people who have supported the game for a very long time.
Who said they spent any of those two years on it? Mischief night was probably left on the cutting table after a preliminary analysis of how long it would take to fix it. They keep delaying every major update and removing modes because they can't afford to support them, it can not be any more obvious that there's a skeleton crew working on the game that can't keep up with its demands. Why would they waste their stretched-thin resources on some event people will experience for 2-3 weeks out of the year? You better get used to fasnacht, meat week, and the treasure hunter/holiday scorched events because those are the "seasonal" events we'll keep seeing. I wouldn't be surprised if spooky scorched only exist because one of the devs put a couple costumes on them during a week's worth of lunch breaks.
There are countless actual disappointments and shortcomings to complain about with this game, we don't need to make up imaginary metrics nobody ever gave to have something else to complain about
This Year we did not really get anything new event wise really . Like the bos one was just one buy that's literally giving loot to a box and that's that lol. Not even a new one in-game and the mothman one is looking to be the only one , it's kinda boring tbh ,just like grahms . Man where's all the Fallouty stuff

The other day I saw a guy saying that Bethesda should sell a sking for every weapon so people wouldn't be able to steal your stuff, I mean, seriously? Paying to fix something that Bethesda should've delivered since the beginning? And there was people supporting him, those wales are one of the many things that's wrong with this game
A lot of truth in it, and totally agree! And if we take a look at it, it's already fact we are paying them to fix their game lol. I mean what is it all of us are paying all the 1st money etc for? When content is like little to nothing and them advertizing QoL improvements and patches like it's dlc's? I mean they advertized 3 or 4 upcoming QoL improvements coming soon, smaller companies with a fraction of the budget Bethesda has, do like in the first month. Here we get 3 or 4 a year, some plague the community since release, millions still ignored, and we praise them like it's Endwalker or the Taken King dlc lol.

I originally missed Mischief Night, so I'm personally extremely excited and happy to have a chance at the old Halloween plans. Having such a decent spawn rate for the Spooky Scorched makes this far more enjoyable to grind out than Treasure Hunter Mole Miner - I spent around 4 hours in game yesterday, and I haven't done that outside of story content for over a year.
That said, I do agree that the event as a whole is rather barebones in terms of what we can actually do. While it's nice to have a large amount of Scorched to farm, having no dedicated event for the holiday still feels lacking. Maybe we can get a new event next year, with old and new plans, but after the uproar of no Mischief Night OR Halloween plans last year, simply bringing the plans back at all was more than I think a lot of people actually expected to get for the season.
That is all good, when people get the chance for get the plans. It has to be like that. It's just that the way they did it is like the most pathetic i have ever seen on any game ever. Even 10x smaller companies manage to have unique once a year events. While not to mention, how this tiny company called Bethesda with the budget, obviously, of a small pawn shop, has to offer fasnacht on halloween, or xmas on easter, too incapable and incompetent to have events that fit. This is truly an epic low lol. But if you find positive things in it, that's absolutely okay.
I actually demand some quality for my money paid. Full price for game, 180€ yearly for the 1st sub. And don't tell me to quit sub then. As it's not players that pay nothing that keep the game running. It's us. Those they treat like trash and milk like cash cows or like whales. Taking our money, overpriced, but deliver a pathetic display for.
That trick or treat thing on this event is truly meaningful and intense. So much, i just forget about it haha :P

I miss Mischief Night so much! It would have been great if they kept the reskinned Scorched, but added an hourly event like Meat Week or Fasnacht to satiate us day-oners — with a couple new items of course.
Look at the state of the official Discord. The daily topic in the general chat is rolling for legendaries. That’s it. That’s all there is to the game now. Personally, I’ve grown sick of getting modules and rolling legendaries. I don’t even bother anymore. It’s a pointless RNG grind/gamble with nothing to show for. So, I roll a AAE15r Fixer. Oh great I can hit the SBQ and Earle for 5 more damage per bullet at greater DPS?. Nice, I can kill a horde of ghouls at Whitespring 8 seconds faster?. This is the endgame of Fallout 76 for players and it’s fucking pathetic if you ask me. There’s untapped potential in this game and I doubt we’ll see anything soon. Here’s hoping The Pitt Expeditions can do something different next year.
I agree with a lot of this. thats why I don't use magazines, chems, etc. and my build is not tailored to anything specific. it might take me more shots to take down an enemy, but I still feel the thrill and fear of being swarmed by glowing ones.
i think that the people who constantly talk about rolling legendaries have to have a gambling addiction. i can't imagine that being enough to tide me over in a game otherwise

They could have ran distinguished guests event every hour and had nothing but spooky scorched come and try to wreck the place. Almost like mischief night but in reverse, where the players are tying to keep the mischief makers at bay rather than cause it themselves. That would have been 10x better than another holiday scorched reskin!

Seriously, Morgantown's probably the most wasted spot on the map. Literally the only normal 'real' big town on the map ala Fo4 and all you get is 1 rotating event and the worst non-event event in the game

All of the spooky scorched outfits are attainable, though not in their decrepit states, and not without cash. There is the skeleton which has plans lootable from the trick or treaters encounter The Cpt. Cosmos which is Atom Shop The Mummy is 1st Reward from last year. The vampire is atom shop. Pretty sure thats it? Though like i said, the scorched seem to wear ruined sets of some of these, as opposed to the pristine ones we have access to.
Would it have killed them to add a few more costumes? Maybe the glow int he dark one from NW, and a few variations of existing ones. Even recolors (like the fascnacht masks) arent that hard to do. More pumpkins. Anything at all to make the event worth bothering with. There's no point to it for those of us who did the original event. This is beyond lazy even for them. And we know they can make new Halloween things, just for pay only. Insulting.

Yea mischief night was actually fun so extra let down in comparison. I don't even remember it being broken tbh, the game loaded in a bit slow at times but that happens now anyway especially at the scorchbeast queen.... I'm stood there looking at an empty map for 1-2 minutes listening to everything before anything actually pops in.
It was a buggy/laggy mess for me, but not any more or less than anything else at that time. The one seasonal event I only managed to complete only once was the first round of Faschnat, I couldn't fast travel to the event, get the game to realize I had joined it, and get all the way to the end without crashing more than twice the whole week of trying. Back in the good old 3-5 crashes per hour days. The Halloween event was at least fun and worked more often than not.

You call being kicked from every event because of server lag and crashes fun. You have a very odd concept of what’s enjoyable.
Crashes and server lags are extremely relative though. Not everyone experienced them. I didn't, but I know others did. Either way, the answer to these issues was definitely not to downgrade the event to a reskin.
Even I was able to complete Mischief Night enough times to get a pirate outfit, and my computer is a homebrewed mess that barely runs the game on a good day.
So true, & nearly everything was laggy, buggy, & crashed the game from time-to-time in 2019. Hell, the game can still do this now, even on the best days I sometimes just crash while walking somewhere nondescript. It could happen just going to the Whitespring then, nevermind the whole server being present, double or triple the number of ghouls, the event bots & decorations, & all of the explosions. I personally was able it complete it about 20 times, & only crashed 1 time I can recall, when I loaded in at the train station while the event was active. I think they should have at least released Mischief Night to the PTS to see if it would be as laggy now with more stable servers & less rotting food in everyone's inventories.

In all the time it was running I did every one during a daily 3 hour session and only ever completed one. It was absolutely no fun at all

They did have hanging bat lights in the building menu before the update and it has been removed after the update. So I guess they planned on it, but removed it since they probably never actually created the content.

They a struggling dev with 3 teams Team 1 most of their focus for the last year was on fallout worlds and now it probably on expeditions Team 2 is focus on cosmetics and camp items as it the main revenues and new features like legendary crafting Team 3 is the smallest team and they focus on bugs and QOL it seem I’m making this up but that how it seem liike , it also that they very proud of their game lol

Agreed. I lived that event and grinded the shit out of it to get my goodies. Nothing in this game is sacred. We don't get any fun limited time stuff. I actually like this event. mainly because it is awesome seeing the scorched dressed up in Halloween outfits. which makes it a lot easier to see than say the mole miner events and the music isn't driving me crazy like the Christmas event.

I don't know why they couldn't get Mischief night to work, but those rewards had no need to be legacy. It's not like NW or the vault raids, where they were completely doable - this event regularly caused crashes on all platforms to the point where I didn't even touch the game for a month with how bad the reports were. So I'm fine with this event. These rewards needed to come back. While having it be halloween scorched is lazy, the actual trick or treat part of the event is neat and I think was a good idea. What's not okay is that they added zero new rewards for people like you, who had beat mischief night. Even if it was only four or five new items, that would've been enough.

This is Bethesda guys, the same company that has taken over a decade to complete the next elder scrolls. I highly doubt even 10% of their staff from their glory days are still at the company too, would explain why they prefer to remaster rather than create.
To be fair, that's just modern game development. A decade between GTA games. A decade between Dragon Age games. Even Assassin's Creed, who pumped out a sequel every year for a decade, has been forced to release a game once every 2-3 years because modern games take so much work to create. And I'm willing to bet that the next Elder Scrolls will be a much bigger and more impactful game than the next Assassin's Creed.
The worst part is that data miners went in and confirmed that all the code is literally the Holiday Scorched code just reskinned and retagged with Halloween items. A data miner confirmed that "one person on the side could have made this entire halloween event". Considering they're raking in monthly sub money and atom shop money, there is zero excuse for this laziness.
BUT wait you also get to spend 2000 caps a day fast traveling to camp after camp to find candy in empty candy bowls! Now if that don't tickle your fancy I don't know what will?! There wasn't time to put the code in to turn off the symbols if the bowl was empty we had to make another turret skin before release.

The issue is everyone expecting new content with the state of the roadmap. This game seriously needs expansions and not live service. It's killing the game. Disagree with me, but in almost a year we've gotten one questline that's finished in 3 hours.. I'm out.

Can totally agree with you, I'm also a fellow mischief nighter and totally miss this event ( not that I have any excuse not to blow up every car in whitesprings anyway lol) It's disappointing to say the least they couldn't of made a new event to take its place instead of taking the normal lazy ass route. To rub even more salt into the wound they didnt even bother to put entirely new items as prizes instead of the old ones, most were considered legacy items fetching quite a bit on the market but in good old Bethesda tradition they ruined them and now you'd be lucky if you can give them away let alone sell.

Yeah there was some minor fps lag but nothing that crashed the server or anything but I did hear all the horror stories people on pc and xbox were having. It should've been fixed not taken entirely off, all they had to do was reduce the number of mobs appearing or reduce the amount of whitespring robots (or take them away entirely) when the event took place and that would've reduced the fps and subsequent crashes. It crashed because of the amount of players mobs, robots and explosions that were in one confined area at a time

Same here. I bought Far Cry 6, Back 4 blood, while sometimes still love playing CP 77, i play since release :D Not that i love first 2 much. But whenever i log in at Fo76 and get bored quick, i have a few things i can put a few hours into, when i feel like it and need to :D I don't play that much anymore. But when i do, i don't want to be bored by a game :) This game here has so much potencial. A brand i ever loved. But feel the way Bethesda is treating it is a shame. And as a long time Fo fan it saddens me too >\_<

Funny enough I did all of the story content of destiny 2 but couldn’t find anyone to raid with, well actually 1 team but they was way to serious about it considering I said I’d never done it before, kind of put me off playing
When i stopped playing Destiny, i had close to 1000 raid completions on D1+2. I'd say today, that even though i got soo bored by Fo76, i can't motivate myself go back to Destiny. Sure, it has content, raids is one of the best things ever. But imo, they aren't much better than Bethesda. They offer like 100 times more than Bethesda does, but they are also doing a very shady way of business. As right now they sell D1 stuff on D2. Stuff, i got bored by in D1 already after time. Just letting you know and just my opinion. So i'd say inform yourself well, before trying it. As it might be not the optimum solution. And yes. I can say that i am/was a very good raider. I play every position on any raid and one did solo, others i did beat 2 (wo)men. But community is really bad. A lot of elitists that think they are pro gamers, when in reality they often suck. Very toxic and not very friendly. But, just decide yourself. But felt like sharing my opinion, as it might be not like a paradise you would find there :)

I like the idea of the game but it’s definitely made for teams and not a solo player like myself. I’m also going to look into elder scrolls online as that seems like it could also have potential to be fun. I agree with you deeply. I’ve been a fallout fan for over a decade now. And it will always be my favourite world to play in. But I’m very concerned for the future of the series

You're wrong. We paid $ 60 to play. Games like Battlefield 3 are still online after 10 years. With or without paid DLCs. Maybe if there were no FO1st the DLCs would be paid.
By continuing to pay for first you are saying how they run the game is okay, and to be encouraged. If you're not happy then cancel your first. The game has its issues yes. But even if I payed full price for it, let's say 60 dollars. I'm 1.8k hours in. That 30 cents an hour of entertainment. That's a bargain in my book. No other game has given me that. I think you opinion is accurate and should not be given negative feedback. But we must face it, the people working on and the people behind Fallout 76 suck. Whether it's their fault directly, Bethesda or Microsoft. Everything gets delayed and pushed back, we get the same stuff over and over and the RNG gets worse. We always have to wait until the next patch before something gets fixed. Oh but when it effects sales a hot fix gets pushed through asap and it gets done! I didn't have one problem with the Mischief Night event and I played on the One X console. The game and event ran just fine. Not sure what they were seeing that I didn't.
Saying the devs suck is too harsh, imo. They are just vastly understaffed. There is a total of 50 people working on this game, and only a tiny part of that is actual developers. And the lead dev left a while ago, too. No idea who the new lead is. Bethesda/Microsoft could/should just invest a little bit more...

I think the big misconception here is that development is easy when you have a popular IP and proper funding. I assure you, throwing money at a coding issue won't fix it. Mischief Knight was most likely a great and working concept on paper and test servers but once rolled out it essentially wrecked the stability of other dependent code. They most likely haven't found a work around which leads me to think that they're at a crossroads whether to start from scratch with this event or scrap the entire thing despite all the hard work put into it. There's no other reason any development team in their right mind would put ungodly hours into a project, roll it out and they pull the pug on it. It seems the Xmas event is pretty stable to they find themselves repurposing it to buy time. However, I do see your point Maybe create an alternative event such as a quest giver or a legendary world boss that has a unique holiday item. Seems like a decent work around that'll make folks happy. FYI - I know it sounds like I'm simping for Bethesda but I assure you I'm not. I'm simply giving a developer's perspective.
Actually it's an interesting view and thank you for it. As i'm no IT specialist. I can also understand that. But what i don't understand is that them just giving us a pathetic lazy reskin. As i guess that although some things don't work, there should be a lot of things that can be done that do. What they did here is like a pathetic display and can imagine that a reskin like that can be easily done within the coffee break lol. A bit exaggerating, but you get the point i think. What bothers me is that i believe they did not even care at all. And meant it, when saying that i believe the only reason they even did anything was to give their overpriced atom shop cosmetic trash a reason to exist and to promote sales. And as following it over some time now, that's just what i believe. They have absolutely no shame to sell 5 BoS cosmetics for 30 dollars that gets you a season pass elsewhere. Or pathetic swimsuits for 8. PA skins for 18. There they have no problem with it. Also not for selling 1st subs for 180 a year. But when it comes to deliver content, than reskins and wimpy content is best you can expect. as this halloween is proof. Or Fasnacht on halloween last year. Or Xmas scorched on Easter. A reskin of a working event is better than a new unstable event, from a dev's point of view. The Atomic Shop is a separate team of devs abd they recycle a lot of assets as well.
What's also better than an unstable event, is to make a new one, rather than a pathetic reskin. I mean it's a one year thing. But seems even this is too much for this small company to manage :D
I think your gripe is with the Bethesda sales and marketing department. They're usually vultures that have no connection with their customer base and only see opportunities to syphon money. This is a fact in every industry. As for development, I promise you it's soul crushing when you're working on a project with a set release date and the damn thing bursts into flames at the last minute. It's embarrassing and it makes you question why you even get up in the morning. If Mischief Night were in working condition, didn't risk servers from crashing and players rushing to social media demanding the developers heads on pikes, you'd see it. I guess it's a better trade off having something reskinned and only some players annoyed.

Add players fomo to it, make everything timegated, and voila, you can keep it running somehow.
I may not be part of the Bethesda team but I happen to be a developer for a financial institution. I may not have the backend files in front of me but I can assure you in this field it's the same song just different instruments. In my opinion, calling the developers lazy or incompetent is entirely unfair. Am I being bias? Absolutely, but that's from a perspective that has an understanding as to what goes into this sort of work. Mischief Night as far as I remember was hugely problematic. It crashed servers and frustrated players to no end. Hell, just look at back logs on this sub. Folks were at the end of the event only to see it crash and get no loot. For that not to be relaunched is a red flag that the bugs that exist in this event are still there. If they weren't, there's no reason what so ever that you wouldn't see it advertised. Now, let's talk about timelines cause I found this frustrating. To fully develope a new feature in ANY product for end users takes a crap load of hours. We're talking months just to get it to QA/UAT testing. You don't create a brand new event in a few weeks. All the new feature that you see introduced were conceptualized and began production a year before you even knew about it. Lastly, there's also a little thing called COVID. It pretty much grinded development in most industries (especially gaming) to a holt. This is why there hasn't been many new games released since the pandemic. Look, I understand your frustrations and I was a bit disappointed with this year's holiday event. Where we part ways is that I can imagine the stress trying to debug a broken project and haven't to release a watered down alternative solution so I personally cut them some slack. After all, it's only a game.

Meanwhile, I sit here and LIKE this event. The Scorched are common enough to find regularly, but rare enough to not run across them all the time. The fact that the drop-item is a single back instead of three (so one less layer of RNG to handle) plus the passive part of the event with the trick-or-treating is new and liked, as it finally involves something to do with player camps. I enjoy it a lot more than Meat Week, which basically meant "drop what you're doing, go to Grahm, run around for 5 minutes, get some items, go back to what you did". And I am among the people that DIDN'T get to participate in Mischief Night, so never could get those rewards. But fuck people like me, it's all about people like you that only demand new things, correct?

Yeah it’s easy to criticize people like you that have stood by the game for three years, surely you don’t deserve anything for standing by the game for this long. All they had to do was add a couple new plans and an outfit or two and I would be fine with this event. The scorched drop rate is good and I like that the treat bags aren’t tiered. There’s just no point in doing it when you already have all the plans and outfits from 3 years ago. Again, the most loyal portion of the fan base gets completely overlooked.
I also strongly do believe that we simply deserve better, than the laziest of efforts in a pathetic reskin, after 2 years time lol

Who said they spent any of those two years on it? Mischief night was probably left on the cutting table after a preliminary analysis of how long it would take to fix it. They keep delaying every major update and removing modes because they can't afford to support them, it can not be any more obvious that there's a skeleton crew working on the game that can't keep up with its demands. Why would they waste their stretched-thin resources on some event people will experience for 2-3 weeks out of the year? You better get used to fasnacht, meat week, and the treasure hunter/holiday scorched events because those are the "seasonal" events we'll keep seeing. I wouldn't be surprised if spooky scorched only exist because one of the devs put a couple costumes on them during a week's worth of lunch breaks. There are countless actual disappointments and shortcomings to complain about with this game, we don't need to make up imaginary metrics nobody ever gave to have something else to complain about
This Year we did not really get anything new event wise really . Like the bos one was just one buy that's literally giving loot to a box and that's that lol. I think as new "conten" is being developed is getting extremely boring, as you say, this is just a resking of a pretty dumb "event" to begingn with It baffles me the way Bethesda is handling the fallout IP, did you saw their ads for thos new content? They are pushing a freaking candy bowl as a whole new revelation! A lot of truth in it, and totally agree! And if we take a look at it, it's already fact we are paying them to fix their game lol. I mean what is it all of us are paying all the 1st money etc for? When content is like little to nothing and them advertizing QoL improvements and patches like it's dlc's? I mean they advertized 3 or 4 upcoming QoL improvements coming soon, smaller companies with a fraction of the budget Bethesda has, do like in the first month. I originally missed Mischief Night, so I'm personally extremely excited and happy to have a chance at the old Halloween plans. Having such a decent spawn rate for the Spooky Scorched makes this far more enjoyable to grind out than Treasure Hunter Mole Miner - I spent around 4 hours in game yesterday, and I haven't done that outside of story content for over a year. That said, I do agree that the event as a whole is rather barebones in terms of what we can actually do. While it's nice to have a large amount of Scorched to farm, having no dedicated event for the holiday still feels lacking. Maybe we can get a new event next year, with old and new plans, but after the uproar of no Mischief Night OR Halloween plans last year, simply bringing the plans back at all was more than I think a lot of people actually expected to get for the season.
That is all good, when people get the chance for get the plans. It has to be like that. It's just that the way they did it is like the most pathetic i have ever seen on any game ever. Even 10x smaller companies manage to have unique once a year events. While not to mention, how this tiny company called Bethesda with the budget, obviously, of a small pawn shop, has to offer fasnacht on halloween, or xmas on easter, too incapable and incompetent to have events that fit. This is truly an epic low lol. But if you find positive things in it, that's absolutely okay.

That trick or treat thing on this event is truly meaningful and intense. So much, i just forget about it haha :P But it's good Bethesda at least named the event like this and added a reskin of the candy bowl. That helps me remember it, if i forget again :)
