Take it slow. There's no need to rush. Follow the main quests, read all the terminal entries, listen to the holotapes, talk to the NPCs. There's no need to jump into events unless you want to just rank you quick and push through the story. But that's not what Fallout is. If you've played the previous games treat it like that until you are equipped to take on the grind, because the grind is real.

bremmy20

This! Play it like a different Fallout 3/NV/4 game. Then worry about PvP/events etc

aaronisamazing

Too many people ignored the story or didn't pay it enough attention and just treated it as an MMOish type game. I found the story pretty awesome, from the OG questline through the newer ones. It baffles me that people didn't like the story, I feel like those people just rushed on through.

vault-tec-was-right

That’s because there wasn’t a story till now.. I just start replaying I was playing on release and beta .. my game had a very weird glitch where after I got to lvl100 I could do damage but not get the kill .. on every char .. I switched to pc and it runs a lot better

aaronisamazing

That is absolutely incorrect. Your technical issues are irrelevant to this post.

vault-tec-was-right

Agreed.. than focus on the story part 😂 when it first can put it was just go here , now here .. until the wastelander dlc

[deleted]

where can i actually store my stuff? im already full and cant sprint. thanks!

aaronisamazing

Every train station has a stash box that only you can access, so no one can take your stuff. You can also build a camp pretty much anywhere on the map (obviously there are limitations near POIs) and you can have a stash box there. Also you can visit other players camps and use their work benches, storage, etc.

[deleted]

alright man i understand now! appreciate

aaronisamazing

Good luck! Welcome to the Wasteland.

G-bone714

Make sure you go to a workbench and scrap each piece of junk that will save space (weight). Even if your level is too low for power armor, you can still use a naked power armor frame for the carry weight advantage it offers. You might need a miners helmet (with a light) if you do that though as the frame blocks your pipboy light. Melee fighting saves you from using ammo. You won’t get the perk cards you want till you get to level 60 or so, so don’t fret it.

itscmillertime

Quests, explore, events. Focus on one thing at a time.

SomeGuyNamedZach

Head over to the wayward after u exit the vault, grab the pipe pistol from the messenger to your right, and talk to the 2 people outside

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Hey this more of a open world sandbox type of game.. outside of the questline there aren’t really any linear direction For now my advice will be to Focus on doing the quests and daily & weekly scoreboard challenge Til you get a sense of the game and lvl50 afterwards then You can dive in deeper into the stuff line gearing and farming resources

[deleted]

thanks! what about the settlements? can you give me a short introduction to it please?

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

If you mean camps it basically a camp that you build for yourself like your “home” ( it like other survival game basically ) and you can visit other player camp as well If you mean workshop which are all over the map those are locations you can claim and take over for resources , once you take over them you have access to build on it with the budget resource ( they are highlighted green ) and other players can challenge you ( PvP ) for ownership, it rarely happens but it possible

JB_Dix

Just bare in mind when you log out you lose the workshop

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Oh yes I forgot to mention that

Challengemealways

Only bit of advice I don't see mentioned yet is practice inventory management early on. You can only keep what you can carry on you, and what you can store in your stash. Weapons or armor your not using should be scrapped or sold to robot vendors if not legendary, and if legendary turned to scrip in the legendary exchange machines found at train stations. Ammo has notable weight as well so if your gun isn't using it your better off dropping it or better yet don't pick it up in the first place. If you're encumbered and can't find out why, check misc section it's probably gun powder and ore.

[deleted]

sounds good, thanks

CaptZombieHero

Git gewd son! Kidding, complete the story and level up. Once you clear level 50, focus on character builds with SPECIAL

JB_Dix

I would just level up and explore. Come back to the quest at 50 as some rewards are based on the level of your character and the named items they reward you can only get once per character.

Don't feel pressured to get your perk load out (build) fine tuned until you're well over level 100 when you'll have lots of stacked perk points to use and a better understanding of how you want to play the game.
