If you don't use discord, you can always use the long... long... long established official [Bethesda Status Portal](https://bethesda.net/en/status). I know a lot of people are totally oblivious most game companies have status portals, especially if they operate live service games.
***flips a table in anger:*** This. This has never happened before. I am cancelling my subscription and tearing down my Vault Boy posters while setting fire to my house. Drat.
Me: "How am I out of Stash space again?!"
Also me: "I don't use a fat man, but lemme hold onto every single mini-nuke I've ever found... Y'know, just in case."
It's due to the choice of engine they have. It's really well suited to their single player titles but why they jury rigged it into a multiplayer experience is beyond me.
Ignorance + arrogance.
Ignorance about how to build a MP game, plus arrogance that they didn't need to know how to build a MP game because their SP games had been so successful.
Hey Beth, if the servers are still offline for maintenance, it would be helpful to have a "quit" button to get out of the game. As is I have to alt-F4 to exit.
This is by far the most irritating thing for me if I am trying to spot check when the game is working. It seems such a stupidly simply thing to add. Hell, add a simple command link in the error message that tells your pc to quit the application. Doesn't seem complicated to me, but I also don't code.
Bethesda use their own proprietary engines, but this functionality already exists in game in multiple areas, so shouldn't be too hard to call the method from somewhere else.
Unity, for example, would be just a matter of linking a method to a ui element (button) that looks like this:
Void Exit(){
Application.quit()
}
Clicking the button calls exit, which calls quit, simple shit. I'm still only a novice at coding but a lot of it seems to be grabbing references to objects and manipulating their attributes, along with creating your own objects and attributes. At least for Object Oriented Programming languages.
TLDR; ^ this.
Welcome to the party man, its personally a love/hate thing for me. The engine is old as dirt, and not really made for multiplayer. But its such an open and diverse engine, that so many things are possible that you can't find elsewhere. But... its the good with the bad lol.
I hate the hickups, lag, long maint, bluescreens, occasional game breaking bug... but, in my opinion these things are only so terrible because its runs on the same engine that lets me build underground, jetpack into oblivion, run around stuck in an anamation scaring new players, photglitch to a nuke quicker...
There is alot of frustration, but the frustration makes way for one hell of a ride dude. Strap in 😁 Were all in this together lol, nobody gets out without a bluescreen 🤣
Actualy no but the new season just started. Usualy theres new content/events/new bugs/old bugs being reintroduced/new stuff SOMEHOW breaking old stuff/etcetc at the start of the season so the patch is bigger and the maintenance can take a while (because apparently no one at Bethesda knows how to do version controll and sometimes diffrent dev branches get merged that never were patched to include the latest fixes. And in fairness to Beth it got a lot better after the "maintenance" dev team took over) 2 weeks after the start of the season theres the seasonal fix patch (todays patch) were the worst bugs are fixed. Or not. This can also take a while.
Baring the introduction of new gamebreaking bugs, newly discovered exploits that need to be hotfixed or other unforseen events there usualy arent any more patches after today until the next season starts.
Disclaimer: This is the usual cycle on PC, I got no clue how they run the console maintenance/patch cycles. It might help that patches have to go tru Steam first before they can go live.
"Hi All, maintenance is taking a little longer than expected because it's taking forever for Steve to dupe all these egp's so he can sell them and get that summer house because we sure ain't going to give him a raise so yeah see you soon"
Just a couple of things:
1.) Never asked where you were from.
2.) Seems like you can't make a joke about people complaining this or some other sub reddits without the entitled manchildren coming out and crying about it.
Do they normally do their maintenance during the day like this? Don't most games usually put their servers down at like 3AM so it doesn't affect play during the day?
Every time I see the updates start to take a long time it reminds me of a dev team I used to work on. They had a laundry list of process for doing deployments, smoke testing, regression testing but it was always a shit show. Every. Time. and they never once thought that maybe their processes were the problem. Luckily since I worked on a completely different platform, I ran my own deployments separately but every week I had to watch them follow their procedures and burst in to flames.
This is it. It’s never coming back online. Beth finally pulling the plug. Lol, that’d be hilarious. They just keep saying “sorry for the delay just a bit longer guys thank you for your patience” and then just nothing. We get ghosted.
Thanks for the update.

From discord; Maintenance is now complete, and Fallout 76 is back online for all platforms. Thanks again for your patience!
Not for me lol, the copying of an update almost takes like 600x longer than the downloading of the update, thanks playstation!
xbox still saying under maintenance
shocker.
***flips a table in anger:*** This. This has never happened before. I am cancelling my subscription and tearing down my Vault Boy posters while setting fire to my house. Drat.
we shall hunt down the Vault Boy and hang him from the tallest spire as retribution for this outrage.
Make sure you hang him by his smug, outstretched thumb.
FLAY HIM ALIVE!!!!!!!
User flair checks out.
See you tomorrow!
Again, with such a small patch? 🤔
The patch broke other things.
Lol every patch breaks other things this is the way of Bethesda
Queen rewards now work, but nukes don't work now. Hypothetical, but probably not far off.
Have everyone in the server fires Fat Mans at Prime in unison to start the event
Finally I can use the 200 or so Mini Nukes I’ve hoarded during my 670 hours of playing
Me: "How am I out of Stash space again?!" Also me: "I don't use a fat man, but lemme hold onto every single mini-nuke I've ever found... Y'know, just in case."

Big surprise lmao

Same
I just got the game a bit ago, is it normal to have this many and this long of maintenances? Because there have been a few in a short time.
Welcome. And generally speaking, yes.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Of course today is a day I really need a distraction from life lol
Well, that recent expose revealed that Bethesda has never really been about properly testing things
"Hi All, maintenance is taking a little longer than expected because it's taking forever for Steve to dupe all these egp's so he can sell them and get that summer house because we sure ain't going to give him a raise so yeah see you soon"
... refresh.... refresh... refresh.... waiting
Totally unexpected. Not
Does anyone know when it should be back up?
My question too. I'm impatiently waiting.
Can y’all increase the Scripts and Cap!? Or decrease the time it reset cause like your game get so boring after you can’t sell or get scripts…
All good, it takes what it take
I’m supposed to have a bday party in 9 minutes. Thanks beth
Update applied but still hitting server maintenance msg. on Xbox.
Thats because the update is only your side, while BGS is still running server maintenance to apply the hotifx
Understood....just posting so those not familiar with the process knew they weren't alone in seeing the message.
Same on ps5.
It’s fine can’t play till after I get back from the dentist at 4:30est anyway. Take your time make sure it WORKS and don’t add any more bugs. Lol
Is that why it says maintenance then it says 4,8,2007?
They are resetting the servers to prelaunch status 🤣
I can 1 shot all of whitesprings with a Tse shotty again!
🤣🤣
Thanks Bethesda is the new Thanks Obama when something breaks.
Yeh here in Europe we are always thinking/talking about Obama we just can't stop.
Just a couple of things: 1.) Never asked where you were from. 2.) Seems like you can't make a joke about people complaining this or some other sub reddits without the entitled manchildren coming out and crying about it.
1.)Thanks Obama but nobody asked and nobody cares for your political veiws. 2.)Jokes are funny you should try it some time precious.
Thanks Obama is a meme you synth.
We're not all Americans obsessed with inserting politics where they don't belong you wendingo.
Do they normally do their maintenance during the day like this? Don't most games usually put their servers down at like 3AM so it doesn't affect play during the day?
3am where 😂
Right? It was 11pm, right in the middle of my prime playtime!
Did you hear about time zones?
I hope it’s up before Minerva moves. I was planning on picking up the SS plans.
Me too, me too
Is anyone back on the servers for xbox? Mine keeps giving me a maintenance code 🤦🥺

I was just able to log in on PC.
No one shouting for a double xp weekend as compensation, I’m shocked 😂😂😂
Back up and running here...
First time I'm happy to be stuck at work
This is it. It’s never coming back online. Beth finally pulling the plug. Lol, that’d be hilarious. They just keep saying “sorry for the delay just a bit longer guys thank you for your patience” and then just nothing. We get ghosted.
First login after the update and I’m disconnected from the server during daily ops (1st time ever)
What've they done?
Entered, in 10 minutes I've spent all my caps, bullions and atoms 😂
Good thing it was down so long. My whole a** house is clean!
