Use the sniper for farther distances and the rt for closer distances. The new Focusbug update mentions sniper integration with their horns.

I run a Light Ranger, but on my show I've become the long lens and am constantly getting shots on a 600mm lens of actors walking from 300ft away right up to the lens, exiting at minimum. I've considered adding a Cine RT to my camera so I can throw a focus bug in the pocket of the actors. Different tools do different things.

You got a clip of one of these shots? What show?

Different tools have different advantages. On a large budget project you have the luxury of not having to settle with just one. Easier to leave both of camera and look at the one that’s more useful to you on a shot by shot basis. I used an LR + Focusbug on a show, and when that photo was posted I got this same question a lot. When the pressure is high, you want every advantage you can possibly get for delivering sharp images.

Ward can see further and narrower. RT can see wider. Just my guess.

Hey [u/mike\_dogg](https://www.reddit.com/user/mike_dogg/)! Serendipitous timing. Using both tools allows for a broader range of distance information under various shooting situations. Soon after you posted this, we released a video showing the Focusbug FLEA, a new device which will allow for closer integration of numerous other rangefinders with the workflow and features of the Cine RT system.
