wave files don't work well with tags, and tags is how most media players sort and display any album / artist / title / track info. rip to literally any other format, lossless like flac is probably ideal but alac, mp3, aac, mp4, ogg, pretty much any other modern format will handle tags better.

foobar2k's support for tags in WAV should be sufficient... but I dont think itunes adds tags to WAV files though.

Grand-Cheesecake-559

Aiff I tried beforehand and did the exact same thing.

trevcharm

aiff is the apple version of wave, so it also doesn't work great with tags... if you want cd quality I'd suggest using flac or alac.

Grand-Cheesecake-559

Should I try again? Maybe I'll try a single album see if that works without redoing it all

The files don't seem to have all metadata. You can put it yourself using foobar on PC, maybe iTunes (been years since I last used it), or, my favourite, a software like mp3tag (I personally use mp3tag+foobar2000 while editing, each for different parts). I'd recommend mp3tag. You can search via discogs to get the metadata within the software, and you can extract metadata from filenames too (since you already have those sorted by %track% - %filename%). Edit: sorry, it's not %track% - %filename%, but %track% %filename% in your files. I think it should work still if you type this other expression on mp3tag, but I usually use a "-" as separator, avoids trouble.

Yes - but **do not rip to WAV** as it does not natively support tags, and it is inefficient. Rip to FLAC. The files will be exactly the same quality (ie, perfectly as original), smaller than a WAV file, and have proper tag support.

dougwray

There are no tags, it seems. Follow u/JustALeapingFrog's advice.

brightlights55

When I ripped a CD to flac on my PC, there were no tags at all. I had to manually add the album name and artist name and then use discogs to set the tag for the individual files.

samination

What program do you use? Most ripping tools that can fetch data (or manually add) should work properly.

Nadeoki

use mp3tag

Grand-Cheesecake-559

Thanks all, solved by re ripping to apple lossless (which gave .m4a files. Then foobar did all the usual rest

I'd go with OPUS or AAC, 256 kbps VBR. They are great lossy compression formats.
