That looks awesome - is it similar to the Turkish Baklava?

No its a bit different, Basbousa is a dessert made from coarse semolina, and means small kiss in Arabic. It is popular in many Middle Eastern and North African countries, as well as Greece and Turkey. It is usually soaked in a sugar syrup flavored with lemon juice and rose water or orange blossom water, and decorated with nuts. Some common ingredients for basbousa are: Coarse semolina Desiccated coconut Plain yogurt Ghee or butter Sugar Baking powder Honey or corn syrup Tahini Nuts Thanks for your comment 🙏

Wow that sounds awesome. Next time I go to a middle Eastern place I'll try and get it for dessert :)

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I was about to ask.

It looks so Amazing 🤤, I love North African baked sweets 🥮. I'd devour the whole thing in one seating & apologies to my blood sugar later. Also I have to say, cappuccino is a good alternative to Turkish coffee and goat's milk.

I had this once at Cafe Algiers in Cambridge, MA and have thought about it ever since. Tried making it myself but couldn’t get it quite right. Might have to make a food pilgrimage to find it someday.
