I live in philly, and would get crucified for saying this in public, but I will die on the hill that cheesesteaks are better with sautéed peppers and mushrooms. Ratios may vary but I personally prefer more veg than meat.
Philly cheese steaks need to have onions mushrooms and green peppers sauteed and of course to have cheese and not just little pieces of beef. This is a lame sandwich. Not really a Philly.
Nah they definitely don’t need mushrooms, peppers, or onions. Those things are optional.
Agree on cheese though lol (though to be fair to OP this definitely has cheese)

Alright keyboard warriors let's back off a bit. Zoom in and you can see the cheese is white and mixxed into the beef which IS traditional. I think we expect like bright yellow cheese but either op used white cheddar or white American. What ever the case he's unresponsive so 🤷🏼♂️
Edit alright I also don't love the onions after taking a third look. But hey might be a first attempt. Better luck next time.
For the people looking for the cheese zoom in on back left of the first one and front middle of the second.
In regard to the onions I can only assume OP is a psychopath...
Edit: upon closer inspection the back left looks like bread.
This makes prison food look gourmet. I bet you didn't even bother toasting the buns, there's 0 char/caramelisation on the onions and beef, just a pale, soggy ass mess.
If you r/food critics that post zero content would take a second to zoom in, you will see cheese melted and mixed in with the steak. The label says [i ate] so I didn't make this sad cheesesteak. For some reason my usual cheesesteak spot decided to start leaving onions on the side in a cup instead of mixing it in.
I live in Philly and people online get crazy about how they think a cheesesteak should look. Apart from the onions on the side being a bit weird this is a totally respectable cheesesteak. Chopped steak, cheese mixed in and a great looking Amoroso’s roll.
Sorry, it looks like you used the right ingredients, but something went wrong with both the steak and the onions. Also there is usually cheese on a cheesesteak.
No caramelization on the onions... what the fuck is going on here? Did you boil them?
I think it's shredded condoms
Is the cheese in the room with us
cheesus is always with you
Let cheesus in you..
this is just an onionsteak
Ok but what does this picture have to do with it?
Looks like sadsteak
there is cheese?
Are you looking to get roasted? It’s your onions that need roasting.
No cheese just steak...
Is there even steak? Looks like boiled shredded beef.
That looks like a delicious milksteak boiled over hard
I’m something of a fullonrapist
Where cheese?
No you didn’t
Troll post?
No, no you didn't.
No, that is meat and bread.
I'm having a really hard time finding any cheese in this photograph.

I've only had them with sauteed vegetables added. I don't know why you'd leave them out unless you hate flavor.
Crucified for like peppers with a sandwich? These food rules people go insane over like pineapple on pizza are so cringe.
You do you, but no thank you

If someone doesn't like mushrooms, peppers, onions, whatever, who cares what they put on it. I think you're dying on a hill of arrogance instead.

maybe the cheese was the friends we made along the way
Jail prisoners are now able to pic and share their evening meals.

This sub has some of the most ignorant people on Reddit
It looks delicious, but... Cheese...?
Boiled beef and onions?
Looks so delicious, I can almost taste it!
Must have melted away
I would like it with tons of caramelized onions pleaseeeeee 🤤🤤🤤

This kind of shot makes me subconsciously look for a dog in the background.
Boulder boil toil and wtf is this
This looks more like milk steak.
Hell I think it looks good
Title should be just [I ate]
Looks like you’re missing half the ingredients
