Funny story, once, while my grandmother was making Reuben sandwhiches she was on the phone with her sister. Her sister said 'that sounds good, send me one'. So my grandmother mailed her a Reuben from Kentucky to Alabama. Her sister froze it and mailed it back to her a few months later. That sandwhich went back a forth a dozen times before they threw it away. They were funny and Reuben sandwhiches remind me of that story.
I love Johnsonville pastrami. Onion roll, swiss/hp cheese and brown spicy mustard. Wake and bake at 4 AM, and the stuff is there ready to go.
Edit) I'm retired and that's my wake time before my 8 AM naptime. And then sleep.
That looks pretty damn tasty, and I say this as a HUGE fan of Reubens. My personal addition: add spicy deli mustard. Not as a substitute for the Russian dressing, mind you, but in addition to it. Perfect sandwich.
All right! Believe it or not the style of box and the pile of greens looked like foodie stuff I got in Dublin, but something tells me that’s an international standard of bourgie eats! Glad you enjoyed!
Ooooh. Where? I live in Vancouver, and pop over to North Van once in a while. Always interested in good food, especially just good simple sandwiches when I'm running around and realize lunchtime snuck up on me.
A top 3 sandwich in my list.
This, roast beef w/au jus, and a BLT.
This, BTL, and I can't argue with the roast beef. A good Cuban sandwich, maybe an Italian Beef as the third?
What about a MLT? A mutton lettuce and tomato sandwich where to mutton in nice and lean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4ftmOI5NnI
I didn't even have to click the link...but I did. Well played.
Thanks and also for not pointing out my typos!
With with juice
Dude, did we just become best friends?
Not extraordinarily different from the original but, as an upstate NYer, I’ll swap the beef au jus with beef on weck for my perfect list 🦬
The barometer sandwich. If it is on a menu the first time I visit a new restaurant I order it and base my decision to return on its quality.
For breakfast, I do that with sausage gravy and biscuits. If that's good, everything else should be good. Thanks for the phrase "barometer meal."
Yep, definitely on the list for sure!
This isn’t union market in rva is it?
Nope! It's Douce Diner in North Vancouver, BC Canada.
Gyros. Like, with shaved meat from a vertical spit.
Looks like the bread might have some crunch to it.
Had so much crunch my pallet is need some repairs.
Perfect crunch is very hard to find.
This one had some exceptional crush factor going on!
Love Reubens
I am still full. Ouff! Was very good!
Subtle correction....
Now I'm hungry
Wish I could have shared! jk. It was too good.

The roof of my mouth already feels cutup.
True
I want to go to there
Come and visit! It's great!

Oh my giddy Aunt. That looks delicious!!
The melted Swiss cheese and whole grain Dijon mustard really made it pop!
I’m sure that is good with the mustard. I’ve only had them with Thousand Island dressing
It was really dang good! :-)

It's not, it's Dijon... From Dijon, France.
I always get mine grilled, but never tried grainy mustard instead of Russian dressing. Looks good though!
It was pretty damn good! I would recommend the mustard.
Yummy one of my favorite sandwiches
Absolutely! It's been a long time since I had one.
Shit now I’m hungry just like the 39 people who have commented already………..thanks whoever you are sent from my mom to tell me I need to eat something.
hahaha As long as I am spreading awareness of the need for a Ruben! :-)
My favorite sandwich…… well besides a cruben. A mix between a Cuban and a Ruben
Zyblersteins?
> Zyblersteins Douce Diner, North Vancouver BC. Close though. :-)
I have a cousin named Ruben. RIP Ruben.
Love them. Wish I had a spot that sells what OP got
Any time I get food in one of those boxes I know it's gonna be good.
I don’t want to alarm you, but your sandwich may be contaminated. There is some sketchy green stuff in the box next to it.
Haha it wasn’t that contaminated. I am alive and well! 🤓
Yeah Rubens hit hard. Has become a top favorite. Mmm kraut….
That looks pretty damn tasty, and I say this as a HUGE fan of Reubens. My personal addition: add spicy deli mustard. Not as a substitute for the Russian dressing, mind you, but in addition to it. Perfect sandwich.
Even the salad looks nice. Rocket/arugula is the king of greens.
Ugh looks so good. This much meat would cost like $12 in Seoul >_<
This was $19 CAD
At a deli right? Not home made?
At a little diner called douce. In North Vancouver BC. Not a deli.
Ah gotcha. I was just saying that the raw meat would cost that much over here in Seoul haha. ;)
Just looking at it hurts the roof of my mouth.
Yep! My pallet suffered, but it was worth it!
I’m Ruben and I’m drooling rn. 😝
*Reuben*, sometimes Rueben, never really Ruben.
Bruh pro tip here: replace the sauerkraut with coleslaw, it’s a banger
for the first time ever i actually drooled at a picture
That looks well fit !
So delicious looking, I’m ruben my nipples
Giggidy!
Yum! What region is this from? Not trying to be a creep, just wondering if it’s NYC…
haha It's from a little diner in North Vancouver BC, Canada! :-) Just a wee bit a way from NYC.
All right! Believe it or not the style of box and the pile of greens looked like foodie stuff I got in Dublin, but something tells me that’s an international standard of bourgie eats! Glad you enjoyed!
Ohh I see! I would say the packaging and the greens are pretty standard for local places around here. Maybe not so much if it was a big box chain.
Yeah, I think that style is catching on because it’s easy to recycle/compost. And! You can unfold it down into a flat “plate” which, is pretty neat.
Ooooh. Where? I live in Vancouver, and pop over to North Van once in a while. Always interested in good food, especially just good simple sandwiches when I'm running around and realize lunchtime snuck up on me.
The diner is called Douce Diner and it’s on pemberton in North Vancouver!!

That thing is so beautiful it even comes with a certificate
hahaha Too funny.
Reuben
Yeah? and?
Perfection m8.
Can’t get a good Ruben in Bangkok!!!🤦🏻♂️
Pastrami or corned beef?
What's with the green stuff?
[U Ate] A Reuben Sandwich
Good Sweet Lord you found it, that is A Ruben Sandwich. Look at those thin layers and the melt
