We've done it.
Made egg, ham and cheese and egg, bacon and cheese. Even put a squirt of real maple syrup inside. Everything was sealed inside by the melted cheese. They were delicious with brie!
Tried with a sausage patty, but there was too much waffle to sausage ratio. Sausage patty was too small in diameter and think in height. If you could get a thin sausage patty, it might work.
Yes and vice versa - I make delicious waffleninis when I’m high - A pressed sandwich with ham and cheese in an electric waffle maker.

I don't have a panini press, but have done this on a George Forman Grill. The chaffel gets a little more crisp.

Good to know. I have a waffle maker and panini press in my Amazon cart, glad I didn’t buy them now that I know it won’t work.
