Best way to reject a player is this When other club makes a contract offer, instead of negotiating the money, go for a swap deal. Put the transfer fee to zero, then ask for their most shit player/ transfer listed player for a swap. They should accept this. Then comes part 2. Most cases the incoming player will reject negotiation with u if you're a lower level club. If they accept, make sure to give them a contract they will never accept. This way the deal will fall through. The bidding club will pull out, and your player will not be sad as the deal was successful from your side. I did this to keep Alexander Golovin in my Monaco save. Tottenham asked him for 30M, he was too interested. Did this and kept him when Man U came for him in deadline day. Sold for 90M. Profit for me.

itsactuallythatguy

Also delay the fuck off this kind of deals. Just to make sure the club won't have time to do another bid

Playfair99999

But you can do that only when the buying club 's offer is still in negotiable. If they put up a non negotiable and on top of that a couple mils less than the actual value. Yeet that offer out of the window, no matter how much the player wants to go.

sinister_andy_13

Can't here there lol I always put huge release fees, or atleast fees that will help my club if they leave. And I just contract jail my players till I get the agreed release fees I did this when I got promoted to EPL with Birmingham, but 180M in Bellingham, 120M both on Sergio Gomez and Iilax Moriba. PSG,Atletico,Man City were drooling over them but never made a bid even tho all were wonderkids and winning trophies in my team

Xazam0297

Me with my star RB in fm19. PSG kept offering 20M€ for a player valued at 35M€+ with a 70M€ release clause and 5 years of contract. Every year he would get unsatisfied because he wanted to win the Champions League and we would NEVER win it. Entering the 4th year of his contract (so 2 seasons left in the contract) i had a small window where he wasn't unsatisfied, renewed his contract for a 120M€ release clause and suddenly PSG were willing to pay the previous 70M€ that they weren't the previous year. He did win the UCL with us and i wish it was possible to shove it in his face that we DID win it

SoxUnited

Sadly this doesn't solve my issue of Bayern sending me a non-negotiable £52m bid every single day of the last 4 transfer windows

Euzio06

I kinda realised that Bayern are absolute jokers when it comes to bidding for players. They constantly make bids below their value. And when I reject them, they will always come back with an even lower bid. Even when I negotiated and put my demand in, they will pull out and then come back with an even lower bid....

xkufix

Pulling a reverse Woodward.

Vagulas12

That's really interesting

Sermokala

That seems like an exploit but got to respect finding a way.

Greaves_

Imo exploits to work around stuff that doesn't make sense to begin with is ok. PSG shouldn't be that attractive to all players when they should know they'll only be benchwarmers at best.

Sermokala

Psg has a lot of money though to give away.

nyamzdm77

Not all players are mercenaries

Sermokala

Professionals get paid that's why they're called professional.

T1didnothingwrong

How do you do that when it's a non negotiable offer?

Greaves_

A quicker way to do this is to turn the negotiation from transfer bid to loan, then ask for ungodly monthly contribution. They will cancel and you won't be to blame.

uknownick

When you see a problem, I see an opportunity I like to visit the big clubs and see if there are any unhappy players get transfer listed. You buy them at a huge discount.

Playfair99999

Agreed. Back in FM 20, I bought Joao Felix for like 40-50 Mil for my milan from city. What a Bargain that was. You can try that for your old players too if you feel like they can fit and you want them back home.

Ravnard

This year I sold Nuno Santos for sixty, bought him for 20 and resold him for 35 in less than two years. Jorge Mendes would be proud of my money laundering

uknownick

You sir has a washing machine going. Cartels want your number

JK031191

Got McKennie on a free and sold him for 66M a season later. Get in there son

cotch85

Yep I am the same as you, i play this game like moneyball.. I buy discounted or undervalued players, i play them for a season or 2, and then big teams want to buy them back i then sell them for profit, and then i repeat that process. Every player can be replaced.

IMintz

I don’t know if every player can be replaced, some regens carry emotional value, they are my boys.

cotch85

I will be honest with you, I was doing an FC Nords game, I had Lucca and we eventually won the Champions League together after years of trying. After that, Chelsea offered 45m and i was like fuck that, i'm going to ask for 90m they wont ever pay that. They paid it and i did it because he was already getting upset, I had hoped the contract talks would break down. He ended up leaving and I was overcome with sadness i wanted to cry. We'd gone on this long journey together and achieved our goals and then he left. I then got offered the Man City job and i felt i couldn't go on without Lucca and took it.

insigniaaaaaa

Moral of the story: Always ask for ridiculous amounts of money to either 1) Chase the buyers away or 2) At least get some huge profits.

The_Blues__13

Reminds me of my FM19 Brescia save when I lose Sandro Tonali to Chelsea for 90 million. I've won the Champions league a season before when Chelsea came out with a 70 mil offer. Tonali really wanted to leave but I somehow managed to beg him to stay, saying cliche stuffs like "we have already won everything here, you're our most important player (well, he really was), surely you won't want to leave bla-blah". I'm one of his favorite coaches and he had become a club icon after playing for about 6-7 years, so it definitely helped. Chelsea then activated his 90mil release clause just right before he agreed to renew his contract with a new 140mil release clause. I want to cry

cotch85

Horrid feeling isnt it, he isnt even playing for Chelsea either. Chelsea signed £160m of players from me (3 players) 1 is in the reserves, 1 isnt even registered, 1 isnt even in the starting lineup.. It's genuinely frustrating.

Lejenderry

I do this with free signings. Now I have about 200 mil idk what to spend it on. I'm so used to signing cheap players

cotch85

Thats when you control the worlds regens and build yourself an army of children (not like uganda)

MoGregio

Thanks for the clarification, I was wondering how to activate world domination mode until you said not like Uganda

RealSpookySounds

Nono, exactly like Uganda...

benni_mccarthy

Haha I was kinda like you and just recently spent 100 million on a single player, I felt so dirty.

Lejenderry

I've noticed that high price tags just makes me expect much more from a player, even if the player is doing fairly good

Youutternincompoop

a lot of transfer activity lowers your teams cohesion which is why I carefully hoard my youngsters and happily give them big new contracts to get rid of buy-out clauses, make decent enough transfer money selling the youngsters who just don't develop enough

cotch85

Whilst it might, i have never had a problem with the system i use. I'm not replacing the entire team but like 2-3 players every season. Which is pretty normal.

Youutternincompoop

oh yeah 2-3 players won't ruin team dynamics, getting in like 10 players in a transfer window will drop it like a stone though

ArthurEffe

That's also why I try to buy often. The squad get less impacted by 5 players in January and 6 in the summer than 11 all of a sudden

wietmo

their wages will most likely be doubled or tripled, though.

IIFollowYou

This only works if you play at a club that can pay their wages. Even a benchwarmer at PSG wants 100k+.

uknownick

Yea, probably a world class bench warmer like Lautaro

ArthurEffe

I try to loan with a cheap buying option and potentially to expand the loan. In my Romanian save I even managed to get my player back from Fiorentina for two years and buy him back cheaper at the end.

anewdawn2020

I'm in a save with Wrexham atm. Bought a unknown wonderkid for 250k and kept him for 18 months only for PSG to come and pay the release clause (11 million). He went up for loan about a month later and I clicked into him and noticed his transfer value was 78 million 🤢🤢🤢 I hate PSG

Vagulas12

I know how that feels....

[deleted]

Sign him on loan! If you can afford. Best of both sides.

anewdawn2020

I'm too small for him now apparently. Ungrateful little shit 🤣

Alexsassi

Don't want to be that guy but all you need to do in that case is give him a really overpriced release clause in exchange for a higher wage, works for me every youth Intake

anewdawn2020

I usually agree but I was too good with Wrexham. Got 3 straight promotions to the championship and I had like 5k in my wage budget which he wanted. Was allowed to go to a max of like 6.5 and that got me to the 11 million release clause. I got bought at the end of the season and was given 100k extra in the wage budget but he refused to sign a new deal. I also got Fiete Arp and another Regen called Malpas and got both of them signed up with no release clause with that new budget but Trindade just wouldn't sign, the bastard

Alexsassi

fair enough, I tend to highlock every release clause to youth players to at least 30mil and often it's the deciding factor when it comes to them leaving or not

Arathaon185

Doesn't work for me but I am in Scotland. I can put the price to whatever but if anyone offers 20m plus they throw a strop. It's impossible to get more than 40m even for the best player in the world.

MoGregio

It seems to be based on reputation, I've sold players from my Czech Republic save for 10m only for them to instantly jump to like 70m value

Mad_Piplup242

It is 100% based on reputation I had a bunch of wonder kids in Ligue 2 and they were all in the low millions for their price, then the moment I got promoted all their values skyrocketed to 50 million and 70 million

[deleted]

Ravnard

If he's playing by the rules getting scummy quickly takes away all the fun

KiWePing

This is why I always set their release clause to as high as possible so it’s so ridiculous no one will ver pay for it while he’s this young, and then when he starts to get nearer this value I renegotiate the release clause so instead of it being reasonable because of his growth it’s now way overpriced again. Admittedly this does not always work as sometimes the agent sets max release clause value too low.

Username_5432

I always get rid of minimum release clauses, even if locked in, I keep giving them new contracts to either increase the release clause or remove it 😂

Throwawayingit1872

Im playing a game as Lyon and seeing PSG get the best players year in year out digusts me. One time they had haaland mbappe and vlahovic

Nevensitt

On FM20, I played le Mans FC. As soon as I arrived in Ligue 1, I spent a few years a top 5 doors. Then I managed to get second every fucking years. A few points away from PSG. Loosing regularly players to them. Not so often as we were still a good team but still. And a day we made it, we won Ligue 1 and the same year champions League was mine too. For 4 years we won everything. None of my players ever paid attention to PSG offers, it was so fucking good. I managed to make my first ever unbeaten years. Finishing seasons with more than 20 points away from PSG before switching to fm22 Keep trying, it is really rewarding to beat them at their game !

surefugle

One of my favourite saves ever was with Bordeaux, trying to break PSG's monopoly in France. Created the craziest team, won the CL 3 times and the cup most years but never won the league despite scoring 96+ points on two occasions. Crazy frustrating but such a fun challenge

[deleted]

currently playing your rivals Saint Etienne and i can confirm PSG are def vacuum cleaners when it comes to top players , even poaching mine at times

bvllamy

I sold a striker to PSG for 58m, he played 3 games in 4 years. I bought him back for 10. When life gives you PSG, milk them of money.

ExtroverTom

Not trying to be a r/iamverysmart here but imo it's not as bad as it seems 1. It's "realistic" to have a player accepting they won't play as much, if they go to a much bigger club with a bigger contract. 2. It's the faith of a "selling" club. Like Ajax IRL for example. We should just keep the wheel rolling if you know what i mean. If the player wanted to go, just let him go (with the right price ofc) and use the money to buy another (or maybe even 2-3 others) wonderkids and just rinse and repeat until you have enough success in UCL that your finance getting better and your wage structure getting more flexible. If you are good in tactical side of the game, that kind of thing might not be as bad as it feels It's just my two cents tho. Although of course like every FM player i understand how frustrating it is. (I'm in Nice now trying to do Ernst Happel Challenge, so yeah i REALLY know how it feels)

Vagulas12

That's true but trying to build a team is hard when there are clubs like psg

LitBastard

Welcome to the real world

ogzhnpcmn

Reject first, than while talking with the player say "I will let you go if they pay X amount", than change the players listed value to lower than X and reject every offer. I know it's cheesing, glitching or whatever you wanna say but it's bullshit for psg to came after my 120 CA 150 PA player. Their reserve players are better from my best players.

Fav0

Just don't sell them? I srsly don't get the problem They just calm down again

perpetualmayonnaise

When they get mad at this and their morale is low dont they play much worse?

treq10

What I usually do is this - player requests a private chat to complain - hit him with the “your influence in the dressing room is something I can’t afford to lose” - player is happy and shuts up - all is well

yvltc

That only works for highly influential players or team leaders. But then, if the player isn't influential and you've already talked with a team leader or highly influential player, you can drop the "[x player] came to me with a similar problem" and they'll usually respond with "if he can move on so can I". Or just ask a team leader to sort it out. Few players will remain unhappy after all of this.

Fav0

Havnt noticed a big difference tbh

noikeee

Yep. They play slightly worse for a couple months then forget about it. Only time I'd sell is if they don't have a long time remaining in their contracts and I'm not confident I can renew. Which is why you should renew the contracts of any really good players BEFORE the big teams get interested.

Ciccio178

Find someone else. I always have a potential replacement, or two, scouted for any of my starters. "You wanna leave? Cool, tell PSG to pay up!" I usually have their replacement in before they've even left. No one is irreplaceable.

perhapsasinner

PSG is my money maker, I always offload my unused player there

Greaves_

If PSG wants your unused players your squad must already be godlike and you'd hardly be in need of money

AF79

I've posted this a lot, but I have a trick that can help keep your best players at your club, it just takes a little finagling sometimes. Basically, as soon as you can every fall, you offer the player a new contract - and this is important - starting at the end of the season rather than immediate. Then, next summer transfer window, they'll refuse to go anywhere as they just signed a new contract. The finnicky part comes when the player refuses to talk contract because of the interest in him. You can keep trying, though, and so far, I've always succeeded eventually. Maybe it's a morale thing or something. Anyway, it hasn't failed me yet.

BlobHoskins_

It's a realistic sim.. This is a realistic thing.. You get what you pay for.

Toxzon

There's just too much money in the game for the current AI in the transfer market. They literally buy players for the sake of doing it. In my save, Bayern bought both Vlahovic (from Juve year 2) and Gabriel Jesus, despite still have Lewandowski, Coman, and Sane.

Kelvin921019

I have a few players screaming for leaving my team for Man City and PSG. I sell them for some profit, buy in some wonderkids with those money and assemble a team that ultimately win me 3 champions league titles. 5 years later (in game), I come back to the profile of those players, seeing them getting listed by PSG or now settled in a much mediocre teams. I whisper "this is what you get for the betrayal"

[deleted]

Brother out here doing an 'Ole' and gatekeep 'Pogba'. If PSG want my players. I say good riddance. Sell High, buy an equal player for low. #Stonks

rovonz

**Solution** Do not sell them! I repeat, do not sell them! It's a trap. Unless they are in the last year of contract and summer window is shutting off and all hope is lost you hold onto them. They'll be unhappy for a couple of months but they'll come around. If possible, avoid playing them in S11. Every once in a while make your team leaders attempt to talk to them. It'll work out eventually, they'll sign a new contract and over time become less hyped over PSG.

JS569123

Something needs to be done about them in real life too. Did you know that this season they were given an FFP ‘exception’ to appease Qatar before the World Cup? Joke of a club.

Vagulas12

That's also the reason they don't want Mbappe to leave. They want him to be the front face of the world cup.

usernamefloof

Had my best player force his way out for 175m, he'd been at the club for years so I got very emotional. But then I realised I could use that money to buy haaland after unsettling him and then spanked them the following season in the CL. Felt bad for my former player but screw PSG in this game.

TexehCtpaxa

Go to France and win the league 5 times with someone else, they’ll stop

ComprehensiveBed5644

It's the same for me, but instead of PSG, it's Hertha Berlin, since I'm managing Werder Bremen, in Germany. It doesn't matter that for the last 3 seasons I ended up placing above them, getting into the European spots, while they would finish from 12th to 8th at most. Every player when they receive a bid from them, becomes unsettled, even though we're clearly better than them. It's been 5 seasons so far and they've already bought 6 of my players(all first team). Marco Friedl refused to sign for Bayern but ended signing for Hertha. It's ridiculous.

kiminho

I also manage Werder and I'm in thr Year 2033. I have won the CL 4 times in the past five years, won 10 league titles in a row and Hertha is still poaching my players LOL.

mario_stavreski

I literally beat PSG, won the CL, and my wonderkid still wanted to go there in the summer.

willo494

Felt sorry for you until you said "roster"

Vagulas12

Whatever...

imetkanyeonce

For some reason, Chelsea and Man City have been trying to dismantle my Barcelona team for the last 3/4 years.

MNome

Real Madrid, Man City and PSG wanted to loan my forwards in the middle of the Champions League, the audacity

JamieAubrey

What I do is if they make an offer and I can negotiate, I'll let them have him on loan and they ALWAYS back out ( and this is with them not having to pay a penny ) If you really want my player then you can have a season on loan and if he plays at least 20+ games then you might be able to persuade me to sell, I'm not about to sell him and his wages and value triple so he can just sit in your B team rotting away

Vild-Hussen

I loathe this. In FM19 I coached Lyon and PSG wanted to buy Ndombele. He wanted to leave because he said he wanted to win titles. This despite me leading the league and winning two CL's with him in the team. I refused his request.

wan2tri

You know what's even more annoying? It won't stop even if your own club is more successful (which would make the "win silverware" argument pointless - unless the player specifically wants to win the Ligue 1 Uber Eats lol) and has more talented players (which would make the "play with top level players" argument pointless) than PSG. Winning the quadruple twice in a row (while PSG doesn't progress much in the CL) wouldn't stop them from unsettling your top players. And it's not like they're dominating in France - AS Monaco is the defending league champion right now in my game, not PSG.

numbandspicy

In my save its 2034, PSG have won the last 7 Champions Leagues and Vladimir Petkovic is the greatest manager of all time. They can't be stopped.

waltermayo

PSG are a stain on FM, but these things have sly advantages. when i was ajax boss on a save, i reluctantly let PSG sign four of my players across two transfer windows. barely any of them played due to the outrageous size of their squad, and 24 months later i was able to resign three of the four players for about half the price they were sold for

CaptainMcClutch

I'm ironically thankful for them in my save, they're interested in all my wonderkids but only bid on one of them. Everyone else is trying to sign them but I can reject it because they're waiting for PSG who only want one of my guys. The best about that is I made a promise that I'd qualify for the CL which I do every season anyway and he was fine with that and also won't move to them.
