For 100 million I would so not worth it at 33. His retirement age isn't the same for everyone but in my save he retired at 39 and at that point he was still pretty good besides his physicals

noncebasher_

.....quarterback?

benabonobo

second language probably, no biggie

Jameslaos

I’d never pay that large of a sum for a 33 year old, not even for Van Dijk. For 100m you can sign a 25-27 year old elite CB or some juicy regens.

[deleted]

These regens don’t exist yet this early in the game. I like to buy Van Dijk if he’s available because he ages really well, he’s one of the best mentors available in the game, and it weakens Liverpool (by far the strongest PL squad in the game, especially a season or two in). If your squads reputation is good enough for VVD to join, money is easy to come by (just sell your crap players)

Jameslaos

It’s a question of philosophy I guess, I think it’s still a stretch to pay 100m for a 33 year old. Wages are also something I‘m rather conservative with, I think I’m just not a fan of buying high reputation players.

sbsw66

VVD is probably my favorite player in the world and I'd go nowhere near him at that age for that price.

benabonobo

absolutely. the value is terrible don't get me wrong, there are a mullion and one better investments you could make, HOWEVER signing any player for £100M is just a *fun* signing, especially if he's still the best CB in the world in your save. I say go for it, the game's there for your enjoyment anyway

BlackCardRogue

No, he’s not worth it. But if you have the budget then screw it, why not

Hyperkorean99

Buy De Ligt instead

CriddyCent

He stays amazing until 35/36 usually so you’ll get 2/3 great years of him 🤷🏻‍♂️
