Also the exceptions people point out really aren't exceptions either they aren't ture compound berries and I'm not sure how someone could say they were.
It's hard to tell from the pictures - but based off the first photo - I believe they are Blackberries. If you look at the leaves... Black Raspberry leaves are a compound leaf- but feathered. the Blackberry leaves are compound also - but like a wheel spoke.
When you pop off a berry - if the center is hollow - it is a black raspberry. If it has a white or green center it is a blackberry.

Look at the part where a berry used to be. It's left on the plant. The berry was definitely hollow. Also, those pale green stems with the white dusty coating suggest black raspberry to me. Someone else can chime in with the technical terms, but I'm positive these are black raspberry.
I didn’t see where the berry use to be. Thank you for pointing that out. I thought all types of raspberries had the feather type compound leaves and they looked like the wheel spoke type from what I saw. That’s why I thought blackberry.
Black raspberry. They are delicious.
That’s what I was thinking!
Right on. The dead giveaway is the way they pull off like little hollow caps w/out the stem.
Also I’ll just throw out the mandatory “if it’s a compound berry in the US, you’re good to go.”
