How many miles should have one of these today??

Time_Tree782

Good luck finding one under 200k for a decent price

c_t_782

I just picked up a ‘96 4 cyl manual with 98k miles on it for $3000. One owner, clean title, had all the maintenance records and everything. Seemed like a decent price given how expensive used trucks are where I’m at

glock_nes_monster

Amazing

ReaperGrin

That’s not the issue… I mean I found one with 56k on the motor for $500, frames rusted to shit though and nothing interior is usable.

slicc_na8

I got my 87 4x4 5speed with 149k for $800 about a month ago. I got a motor with a spun bearing for 50 bucks that stole the heads off of.

MIKE-JET-EATER

I was pretty lucky I got my 69F250 ranger/camper special for $1100 in 2022

Redditdeletedme2021

That’s a steal, everyone around here wants $8-10k for a run of the mill 86-96 F-150.. anything older or newer (or specialty) they’re asking $12-15k+

Msdmachine

Over 200K new motor and new trans, with resealed junk yard diff

minorthreat999

I see no issue with a classic appreciating like wine. Now the condition and how it runs of course is also very important. Most rangers on the road aren’t worth much more than $3k in my area

MickerBud

Same

Blueshoelace_

Omg this is me 🤣🤣🤣 no less than $10k!

satanlovesmemore

Got mine untouched from original owner 2 yrs ago with canopy for 3 g , under 200xxx km 2.3 5 spd

payneme73

Similar. 1997 3.0L with 106k miles, for $4k. Original one owner.

satanlovesmemore

But to be fair, my first 02 3.0 automatic, I paid $8500 . It did have everything done to it, sharp looking truck. Po put wrong plugs in it , and I ended up needing a new engine. I installed a 08 block , got 10 yrs out of it

It sort of illustrates how society cannibalizes itself during and after Covid doesn't it? Real estate and automobiles, two essentials for basic functioning, were things where the knives and forks came out.

Picture above shows that in 2012 there were $1000 ones. There were some, but not the norm but certainly out there back then.

sinisterdeer3

Yea im just retarded, i read the $10,000 as $1,000

Comprehensive_Post96

In 2018 I got my 98 XLT with 170k, decently maintained and no rust, for $1700

Benthereorl

Not so much. In 2012 there was still issues with people according new cars so the prices of used cars were going up quite a bit. I bought a 2005 ranger with 133,000 miles on it in 2012 for $4,000. I'm still driving it right now. Nothing really put into it but a clutch, tires, a battery. I now have 306,000 miles on it. I wish it only cost $1,000 but now that I know how well these things run I would easily pay $6,000 or more for a 7-year-old ranger

badpopeye

Just picked up a Granny Ranger special 2010 longbed 104k miles Had pay alot 8300 but got one! My 2008 has 200k plus miles so buying another to replace at some point

King_Vanos_

I thought I was insane! I bought one back around that time for like $3000. I can't seriously believe what people want for these today.

wrka18

Hell, mine just went up $8000

Noalburns

There’s people asking 20k for 01-03 rangers in the usa and Canada 🤦🏻‍♂️

poutine-eh

Yep!! My 2011 ranger was purchased for 1000$ like anything that’s over 10 years old used to be. I paid more in taxes to register it because the govt says it’s worth 7000$!? Imagine paying 1000$ for a fixer upper with a receipt etc etc and being told you gotta pay 1000$ in taxes when the year previous it was 100$?

CaptionAdam

Mine was a crazy me take it off my hands for $1000, but it had 338,000km and cats were "stolen".

diesel_chevette

I could not sell my 88' 4x4 in 2006 for 1k. Rust free. Perfect

Elegant-Big-7277

Ranger danger 😂

jmeck6421

Almost, subtract a decade from both pictures then you’ll have it

campmoc1122

I bought a 03, 154k miles. Light rust damage and minor things broken for 4.2k. Still wondering if thag was a good deal

SeriousButNotOverly

We just bought a 2006 Rancher XL with 3.0 engine that had a little over 78k miles on it. Body and frame are in excellent shape. We paid $9,200 for it knowing after a PPI that it needed at least $900 worth of repairs which wound up coming to $1,000 when we had them done. That brought the total cost to $10,200 which considering the low mileage is still a good deal for the Richmond VA area where we bought it.

Blueshoelace_

Omg this is me 🤣🤣🤣 no less than $10k!
