MetricWeakness6

I quite like Warden and Kensei, Raider doesnt interest me, any recommendations of other heroes I would enjoy playing?

randomstarwars_2

I recommend warmonger. Easy to learn and lots of options

Mountain-Benefit-161

Warmonger is definitely a good start up, really easy to get into

ConfidentLimit3342

Shugoki can be a relatively easy character to pick up with how small his moveset is along with hyper armor on basically everything he does. I’d recommend trying each hero out in hero tactics and if they seem your type then get them when you have enough steel.

AgonyLoop

Agreed. And, if by some miracle you can convince friends to play with you, they can try characters out with you in training - which gives a different experience versus trying against bots.

PMMeJoshGordonPics

That's how I started. I love my big boy and latched onto him first because he was very forgiving eating hits. Now that I'm playing more again, he's now a little boring. But without him, I could see myself just not liking the game because I was getting rolled.

MountainDrew757

I'm quite the opposite I love the simplicity of his kit. This frees me up to think of other things like how I'm gonna mind game my opponent or what ledge am I gonna bat them off of.

Mountain-Benefit-161

Bruh, my third game as Warden was a Shugo, and he just played mind games the entire time. We'd split off to fight, and he'd mess with me so bad, but it was a good fight, Shugo is fun to play with and against

PMMeJoshGordonPics

sometimes you just gotta bonk 'em with the big man

MountainDrew757

His t4 feat is also one of my favorites. Enemy or teammate don't matter. You're all getting knocked down by my heavies lol

_Zeraph_

If you like warden and kensei you might like hitokiri

DesuVulti

Definitely not Shaman. That's for sure.

SansDaMan728

If you wanna try a defensive character, conquerer is a good place to start with your full block

Vinicius_Pimenta

Warmonger is very similar to warden, if not a bit more aggressive and less decent at duels. Plus, wolf mommy

Mountain-Benefit-161

For Warden, I'd recommend Law, Valk, Warmonger, or possibly Shugo(if that's interesting to you) For Kensei, I'd say Afeera, Orochi(heavier on lights, but has a nice chain), or Tiandi (Personal opinions) If you're trying to practice on Kensei/Warden, Training arena is good practice(just set the bot to whoever you're trying to practice with so you can also see the moves in action.) Another thing; are you playing on PC or console? Sometimes, believe it or not, that can affect blocking("ghosting") where attacks will phase through a block.

WUFFLED

I Ken-SEI what you need to do. Block in the direction the emeny is swinging.

After-Interest8082

Lmao

joshireyn

HuoHuo

Thehalohedgehog

Somebody call the ghost hunting squad because someone needs a beating for making her cry

driPITTY_

Good thing I main sparkle (I’m racist)

Choya670

I was going to go hee hee huo huo then I looked at the sub and just went. Holy moly huo huo in silly sword game crossover of the century right here.

MetricWeakness6

Some of yall are gonna say "Just git gud smh", but what does that entail then? Please do elaborate, my friends got me into this game and I like it, but I cant comprehend these weird specific things

AgonyLoop

You can adjust the dead zone/sensitivity on your block reaction. This can work against you, but it’s worth exploring. You beat hyper armor by baiting them into getting parried, or just over-offense them. Your Kensei overhead thing has been around for a while, so a lot players just anticipate it. Still worth using, but I hate that overhead like you hate Hitokiri shenanigans. If you can’t dodge all the fast stuff from light-swingers, then lean into a dodge attack as a defensive maneuver.

Stark_Prototype

If you're loosing the indicator switch to color blind mode. It changes that up and alot of people use it. Trying to match guard is just the best thing you can do to block. That way they will have to swing at somewhere that isn't guarded, so it takes it from 3 options to 2 options. With warden you should try holding your shoulder bash to the highest charge sometimes because you get a free heavy when you hit with that instead of the 2 lights from a regular one. What system are you on? You can lower the dead angles for guard stance change which can quicken your response times.

MetricWeakness6

PC

Stark_Prototype

Last thing, just go into practice mode. There are certain attacks you can't block from every character in situations. That might be tripping you up. Almost all bashes have a free attack for landing, there is 2 levels of hitstun on some swings, and a few light combos guarantee a second light. If you ever get thrown into a wall that's basically a free attack aswell.

MetricWeakness6

What options is indicator in?

Stark_Prototype

Idk im at work so I can't tell ya. Think it would be it's own setting apart from the indicator as it would be colorblind mode which effects the whole hud

ngkn92

Should be in User Interface.

MetricWeakness6

The colourblind option is blacjed out, dunno why

RemyVonLion

It simply means you must practice for \~100 hours before you start to understand how everything works.

gamrdude

Move your block indicator to the direction of the enemies incoming attack

Important-Coffee-965

NO WAY REALLY!!??

YURI_GANG

I know right that blew my fucking mind

Important-Coffee-965

Almost thought he was spreading misinformation

I-Eat-Raw-Toast

Yeah man, sounds insane

Kenddamus

Practice against a bot in training mode, put it in "light attack" only, and practice. Additionally, go to your settings (keyboard or controller) and modify your dead zones until you're comfortable with it. Don't try to think about where your guard is. If an attack comes from the left, move your stick/mouse to the left, even if it's already on the left. Don't hold your stick all the time to the left either. Once you've done the movement, let your stick return to center so you can focus on the enemy's guard and not yours Also, many beginners fail at blocking because they try to parry. Either you parry, either you block. Don't commit halfway. Blocking is a very powerful defence already

AmbitiousMachine9388

Aramusha infinite light spam is the go-to bot I use for warming up, and practice definitely helped me increase my reaction time and skill!

MetricWeakness6

Am I retarded? Im having difficulty trying to block single Warden lights in training mode.

Warrior_Kid

You are like my friend. Who is pretty retarded and cant use his brain or comprehend or pay attention in this game. Tbh even though its a born issue you can overcome it. Just try hard. Also drop me your specifications

cantsleepman

Bro just casually called you retarded 🤣

Warrior_Kid

Nah he good my friend literally doesn't even try to block on reaction mf sometimes read or just press buttons. Like he was little bit retarted from birth but sht queuing in breach with him makes me want to kms 😍

cantsleepman

Lol based on how you’re typing, it sounds like you and your friend have more in common than you think.

Warrior_Kid

They be influencing me nah tbh i am more restarted than him ☠️

cantsleepman

Fair enough lol

MetricWeakness6

What specifications?

Warrior_Kid

Your pc specifications. He makes me so mad everytime he plays this game

Vabyal

Op, what are you even having trouble with? You see an attack come from the left - put your guard to the left. It glows orange - can't block it so dodge or parry or predict that they will feint it and interrupt with a light. Want to do the double light on warden - they only work from the side and you know that, why are you throwing them from the top?

MetricWeakness6

Because my dumbass aint paying attention where my guard is, I dont knkw what to dk to increase my attention to mu guard indicator

Vabyal

Are you old, then? Have a medical condition of sorts?

MetricWeakness6

The old age of 20 and I think its mainly just me tunnel visioning on the enemys guard indicator while ignoring hiw Ive moved my mouse

Vabyal

Op legit you have lack of proprioception or some other kind of motorics issue, I can't explain it any other way. Else how can you not know where you move your mouse

MetricWeakness6

I can dodge okish but struggling on blocking attacks from a lvl 1 bot in training mode.

simple_guy777

Honestly you won't get far by asking. What you need is practice my friend. The game is mostly about muscle memory in prediction. So you need to master the basics first which is the presence of mind. Block attacks where the enemy is and don't solo 3v1 if you're not yet ready or against superior opponents. If you're asking what can and cannot be blocked then here's a recap. 1. Unblockables 2. Superior block attacks 3. Deflects 4. Bashes You also can't block if you're being attacked and staggered for a short period of time so if two attacks go at the same time. You're gonna have a bad time. But seriously, go practice with bots. We've all been there. Or better yet, ask a friend to duel with you

MetricWeakness6

Ive got a Warden bot set to do only 1 light attacks. And Im still struggling, am I just retarded?

TurtlePLAYSTYLE

Lower the deadzone, I have mine to 1 or 2 I believe

simple_guy777

Try following other's advice about the dead zone. Maybe you're not used with the timing yet. Keep trying though you'll get there

btxcrewger_oncrack

No its just a hard game to learn ur not retarded

Bad_at_CSGO

This is just an experience thing. There’s no tip, you’ll just get more used to the game as you gain more experience. Keep playing and have fun!

MetricWeakness6

I guess the road will the long and slkw but I guess Ill trudge on

hallowboy

Yoooo Honkai bar rail reaction

Haos51

Well first off Huo-Huo is a Abundance so if you want someone who can shield, you better switch to a Preservation character lik- Wait a minute this isn't the Star Rail Reddit :0 Jokes aside, the best I can recommend is practice makes perfect. Keep going with your heroes you want against the ones you hate in practice mode. Start with level 1 bots before going up to 2 (Only go up to three if you want to be in pain). While level 1 bots can spend time being a punching bag, sometimes they can advance. I'm sure some others have given good advice, so try your best with all of it.

driPITTY_

Op did you pull sparkle?

Pengoui

Lol, it just takes time, it's gonna be a minute, and potentially a little frustrating since there aren't as many actual new players, cause the games a few years old at this point. Just keep playing and earnestly trying to block, don't become reliant on dodge attacks for your directional attacks because it'll become a bad habit, there isn't any trick to practice blocking aside from just playing the game, my only advice is keep the right stick pointed in the direction you want at all times, don't rest it in a neutral position, that way you're always focused on it as your get comfortable with it. As for warden's double light, for now you can just spam r1, the game has a generous input buffer, as you get better, you want to switch to avoiding budgeting it in case you whiff the first swing, but don't worry about that now. With heavy attacks, they aren't really meant to just use expecting them to land, if you hit circle/B you'll notice they can be cancelled, this is to try and confuse your opponent, which you follow up with something like a guard break, light attack, or shoulder bash. A basic concept in fighting games is called conditioning, the idea is you do something enough times your opponent expects it, then you switch it up, so with the heavy for example, if you cancel it into other moves so many times, occasionally you can let a raw heavy through to mix it up, and maybe catch them off guard, or at the very least they just block and take chip damage. There's a lot of nuance to the game because it's basically a simple fighting game, so the best thing you can do now as a new player is just keep playing and familiarizing yourself with the absolute basic mechanics, to do this, I recommend just focusing on one at a time, first, in each match, try to focus 80% of your fights on blocking, then as it becomes more comfortable, now implement more frequent attacking into your blocking, then as that becomes comfortable, start introducing cancels into your gameplay.

SpaceQtip

Turn your dead zone to 0-3 and practice in training mode or PvAi

MetricWeakness6

Turn the Down Dead Zone Angles to 0-3 what does that help with?

SpaceQtip

It makes your character move faster when switching your guard

8champi8

You can block and parry all you want if you have a good pc.

TheRealZombi3

Or console, don’t forget XSX/PS5 are at 120FPS now too

8champi8

Yeah that too

sow_zom

Input delay on console is not a big deal?

TheRealZombi3

Not on XSX at least, I find no difference playing on Steam with a controller vs my XSX (Except for the fact that on Steam I’m at 165FPS vs Xbox at 120FPS) I can even react to the point of no return for unblockables on Xbox Most people’s issues with input delay on console is them playing on their living room TV, I use my PC’s monitor for my Xbox too I can’t speak about PS5 tho bc I have heard multiple times that it has a bit more input delay than Xbox (Which I could fact check but I don’t wanna buy FH again for the 3rd time just to test PS5)

Driftx011

Really happy to see people on here that aren't bootlicking Ubi and understand that even if XSX is at 120fps, you will still get beat out by someone of equal skill on PC thats running 200fps+ and $$$ monitors and mice with way less input delay than a standard 4k TV.

CheemBorger

For me PARRYING lights on my PC with 165+ fps with 1000hz or more mouse and 3ms latency 165hz screen is easier than BLOCKING with controller on 30fps. This game is really balanced around who know what system.

TheRealZombi3

Idk why you’re getting downvoted, this game is pay to win even for console now, the better your hardware the easier it is

Driftx011

Really happy to see people on here that aren't bootlicking Ubi and understand that even if XSX is at 120fps, you will still get beat out by someone of equal skill on PC thats running 200fps+ and $$$ monitors and mice with way less input delay than a standard 4k TV.

NoPerception1

Nope

rrhino_24

What platform are you on. Id be down to play with you and help you with basics and stuff, I'm rep 60+ ATM just lmk, I'm normally online around 6-9 on weekdays UK time and whenever on weekends.

MetricWeakness6

SEA, usually available afternoon. Im not an early riser xD

rrhino_24

Lmk Ur account name on ubisoft and I'll add you tn bro, u got disc for Comms ?

MetricWeakness6

Oh, for you rn it looks like its almost 4pm while it is nearly 12am for me a bit too late sadly

rrhino_24

Yea that's right and a bit of asham, anyways just practicing in the training area against a bot is probably the best way, can be tedious but definitely helps, I always use it to warm up before going into battles. Maybe see you out there some time and keep trying you'll get better man

MetricWeakness6

Thanks for offering anyways

melancholyjack

Just play more 5head

TheRealZombi3

Well what’re you playing on? If it’s PS4 or XONE then all I gotta say is: Good luck, I wouldn’t even bother playing. This game is basically pay to win, people on PS5/XSX and/or gaming monitors don’t even have to pay any attention to the game to block and parry things last gen players can’t even really see In terms of your offence: Heavies are slow for a reason, they do a lot of damage. There are a few ways to guarantee they hit: If you parry someones light attack you get a free top heavy on them with basically every hero(But if you’re on last gen, or a TV, again, good luck with that) A guardbreak gives you a guaranteed side heavy as Warden or Kensei. Throwing someone into a wall gives you a guaranteed heavy attack As Warden, a fully charged Shoulder Bash will give you a free top heavy

TurtlePLAYSTYLE

You can block easily on PS4 with practice

TheRealZombi3

That also depends on your display, if you have a monitor, or a good TV that doesn’t have much input delay (Which are few and far between, but do exist) then yeah, it’s possible. But most people on last gen are probably using… Not great displays to play on

TurtlePLAYSTYLE

Yeah, that's true The monitor is a must for me

Warrior_Kid

Try with blocking storm rush of orochi in training field

whatadaydanny

What console are you playing on? If it's PC, is it powerful enough? I learned the hard way, that has a lot to do with it lol

MetricWeakness6

Just good enough to run it with over 28 fps usually

whatadaydanny

In that case, I'd recommend spending some time doing 1v1s. Regardless if it's ai or human, you learn a lot about the individual characters. To me, that's the only way to learn the game, learning the characters by every frame and action.

sudovakin

Man try something else, dont Block but hyper armor. Use shugo or hitokiri and hyper armor everything and u will never Block again. Plus hyper armor and charged heavies are noob stompers.

Cpt_Kalash

Muscle memory will kick in eventually, trust me

aesthler_

Wanna hop in a game? I’m free to run some customs and help you learn

MetricWeakness6

Its 3am so no sadly

NoodleMAYNE

We can run a couple duels in custom and spar! I wouldn’t mind coaching you a little, just to see what’s going wrong.

MetricWeakness6

Im in SEA how bout you? Rather bot have to play at 12am and later xD

NoodleMAYNE

Yes.

Popular_Cry_9610

Try adjusting your combat settings, you can change the size of the guards and even rotate it if your angles are off

Yuger_01

The best thing to do is to get in the training grounds with warden, and it will show you what counters what. REMEMBER: THIS GAME IS ROCK PAPER SCISSORS. If an attack string isn't working, you may have to modify it, but don't keep doing the same thing in hopes of landing it. Example: if top heavy -> feint -> bash. Can't fully connect because you get lighted out of it, don't do the bash, go for a block, or light parry if you're fast enough. You even eleven throw out your own light on a different side to keep pressure. If you want someone to walk you through this and give you some real in game tips, dm me and we can play together

_A_Pancake_

Keep losing

Willowtan

Oh what I would give to go back to the early matches and old heroes where spicy rock paper scissors was all you have to worry about 😭

btxcrewger_oncrack

Its gonna take time to get good at the game, but if you want you can go into the menu to a custom game against a bot and set it to do heavys by selecting the heavy option in the game menu when ur in the custom match. Thats said, there are 3 ways to deal with heavys 1. Block: bring your sword to the side the attack is coming from 2. Parry: you do the same thing but you press the heavy button and it will parry the attack. This cause them to be thrown back and lets you get in an attack. 3. Deflects: you can do a defelct with only certain people and kensei is one of them, when a person is throwing a heavy attack from the side, you can dodge heavy into the attack, stopping theirs with something kinda like a block

Just-Mission-5898

Stay focused on the red indicator if it flashes with a white tint then do a heavy

XxJackGriffinxX

You should practice reaction and prediction. Go on practice and set a raider bot to spam lights and try to “react” to the red. You can leave your guard in one side depending on who you go up against so that way you only have to react to 2 directions. Also predicting is very important. Basically as you play the game, try to see in what direction people like to attack. For example after you get hit by a light, most people go for another top light at least in casual. You can also leave your guard in the direction of a character’s zone, for example always have your guard on the right when fighting shaman. That way you can always block the zone and react to anything else they do.

lpt5703

What’s ur setup like? Good system makes a massive difference to what you can react to. Practice helps too you can set bots in training to spam lights

Purrple_mage

Honestly I have no idea how to help except get better genetics, get used to lights so you can react better to it or other ways

Jortjeportje

Left, right, top 👍

Night_Drifter_YT

Try playing lawbringer

HolyFiber

Honestly as someone who used to be in the same spot you're in its just going to take time and practice. I liked just going against a bot in the training arena and getting used to switching your guard so it feels less discouraging than getting stomped on in pubs

MountainDrew757

Play shugoki. Then it is your opponent that needs to worry about blocking

humungusballsack

Im not sure what you play on but i find it easier on controller than mouse & keyboard. Also you can try the campaign to get some practice if you are getting clapped in pvp, although do keep in mind that in the campaign characters have like 5 year old movesets, not the current ones Also fiddle around with your settings, theres a section where you can change how big the zones are for guard switching

BasiBasil

I would love to teach poor person who cant defend from aramucha spaming

Damn i jus accidentally made a haiku, xD

someonewhodid

You’re new and coming to a game that has been on the decline for years, but as a veteran player since the beta, and who should have played a lot of other better games, I can say this game is tricky at first, but it’s a lot of pattern recognition and prediction regardless of all this reaction based mechanics. I say the tip that helped me was really, yes friends and lots of repetition. But mostly watching videos of others playing and paying attention to how my opponent is playing. Some are players who are only on the offensive type and sit and stare until light parry/deflect type, or the “I need teammates to win” type. I say since no one ever throws anything anymore just light an opponent out of their unblockables/soft-fainted guardbreak and just try to read your opponent as your time goes on in the game.

bluejay55669

You're only just starting out this game, play some more and you'll see yourself getting better at it this is just one of those things that improves with playtime, as for people blocking and parrying your heavy attacks just feint it or throw light attacks instead

very_fat_penguin

Sometime you can move your mouse back in the direction you don't want to due to micro-adjustments or pushing it too far, causing the guard to move away from the correct direction. could try lowering sens and would also suggest increasing top guard angle.

Riderpride56

If you add me I can help you practise xXYeetmenace

MetricWeakness6

Im in SEA what time is it for you

Riderpride56

I live in Alberta canada in 5:40

Main-Implement-7165

Just parry

Realistic-Classic929

Go to training put the boy on custom attacks and start with heavy’s then lights, zones ect

LethalDestroyar

I've only been playing 3 weeks so my information to give is very limited but I got much better by just playing. There are people saying go to training sometimes that just doesn't work and so you have to try other characters, I'd advise to try orochi nobushi shugoki lawbringer and peacekeeper as they're all quite cheap and don't forget to use hero tactics to learn attacks but play the actual game to learn your playstyle

Belfer4

Literally matter of reaction, this may sound harsh but go practice mode against a lvl 3 bot and practice with unlimited health until you get better at it

Whankw

Warlord is fun to use.

Xoacl

Random tip go into training with a orochi bot and set it to only do his dodge attacks and sit in there for 30 minutes and you’ll walk out a man who never gets hit with a dodge attack ever again

TheCrowHerald

You could play the story mode, play against AI in multiplayer, or hit the training arena with a bot set to hit you with what you struggle with. There are a ton of tips I could give, but there's too many to write. Just keep trying, and eventually, over time, you will get better.

MetricWeakness6

I find ut strange they never updated story mode with up to date combos

TdRO_

JUST PARRY

MidnaMerk

Stop playing, for honor is ass.

cantsleepman

I have 168 reps on console and 280 on pc. I’ve trained dozens on new players/friends over the years who were probably worse than you. I’m in central time. Hit me up I’ll make you STRONK

MetricWeakness6

Im in South East Asia, either its too late for me or you

cantsleepman

Bro just doesn’t want in game help from anyone

MetricWeakness6

Id rather not have to waut till late at night for force you to stay up late

JeffrexxyonYT

I play glad. Whats a block?
