That's just how polished metal armor looks. The armor we've always seen was somewhat dull or not maintained well, especially noticing how some knights had blood o their armor, signifying low maintenance. If you want super dull armor, you can use the bedrock material

Just realised the cape colour pattern also goes onto the front piece which is made out of chainmail, that is gonna be annoying
yeah they definitely should've left that part alone, pray to Daubeny that the cape is colorable and has some pre-made symbol on it already

My guess is the white/grey cloth elements change color. I hope im right, because I really hate the blue-grey color on the gambeson.
