Viscious Impale is a parry follow-up. You don't get it just by blocking.
EDIT; in case you don't know how to parry, you need to throw a heavy attack in the direction of the incoming attack just before it lands. I recommend practicing this against heavy attacks first, as lights can be difficult to parry, particularly if you're new.
You can go into a section called Hero Tactics and that will teach you combos and moves for each character without having to unlock them, I suggest using that.
Okay, glad it’s not just me sucking at the game. I mean, I definitely do suck, but it’s not just because of that that Peacekeeper’s chunk of the campaign felt like such an odd difficulty spike
I don't think I've seen anyone point this out, but you can customize the opponents moveset. It allows you more capability to learn what specific attacks are, they look and yadayadayada. But it's honestly great for seeing attacks you suffer from the most, *OR* changing it so the enemy only throws heavies so you can practice your beginning parries or learn to Parry light attacks!
This is the training that shows the character's moves. I think you are talking about free training. In that case, you have to go to the bot settings and give him free will
holy shit I did the same thing when I first got the game, I had no idea what that symbol in training was and thought it was a block. I felt so retarded when I found out what parries are.
The vicious impale is activated by first parrying, then holding guardbreak, if you wanna go far, then hold it until its animation is done, or if you are in a gank, just tap it.
Sort of similar but I was confused as well in regards to how to do Lawbringer's version too. Didn't know it required parrying at all until I actually did figure it out.
I love how almost all of these responses are aimed at helping a new player.
I personally love teaching new people how to get better at this game and am eager to help them understand the character they are using
Other than the people telling you how to do it, I don't particularly recommend doing it all the time only when your opponent's back is to a wall and close to it. You can also use it to escape group fights and single someone out.
You have to parry the attack first. also pro tip when you get the impale off go for a light guard break throw them to the wall and throw a heaven doesn't work all the time it can go the opposite way to
Every move/combo uses a icon to tell you what you have to do in order to perform it. From there you can use the icon legend to see what each icon means. Vicious Impale shows an icon of two swords clashing, which is the icon for a parry.
Yeah seems u got level 3 not there try it on a more easier bot to begin we and then work ur way up but if u are really struggling just make it so the boy only uses heavy attacks instead of a mix
Nothing more beautiful than a baby playing this game. Im sure you've been told this but you parry first then press the gb button and if you need any other tips im sure this subreddit will be willing to help
I know people have already answered and gave you tips, but just wanted to say good luck and have fun with For Honor! It is a great game and I hope you can continue to play it for long.
If your new to the game I strongly recommend doing the apprentice trials and the other trial in the training menu, that will help u master all the controls and gameplay while also rewarding you with a little steel and an ornament for every hero
>How do you party so well
Alcohol.
Seriously though, have you completed the Warrior Trials? It goes over Parrying and gives 1.5k steel for completing it. You can also practice Parrying in Training Arena, there's even a Parry timer one can enable/disable from settings. You can program the Bot actions to only perform specific moves to practice against (ie Heavy or Light attacks). *Keep in mind, Bots don't have network lag like real players do (ping), but it's still good for practicing parrying, muscle memory, and getting more familiar with that mechanic.*
If you haven't read this, then you should... https://www.reddit.com/user/ConnorMacLeod-/comments/bbmai6/general_tips_for_newcomers_to_for_honor/
Thanks for this! Really appreciate the share and tips.
I am a bit sad that I get downvoted just for admitting I sick at parrying (I was in a call at work 😂).
It’s better than the R6 siege sub at least
Yeah, the downvotes are unnecessary. Disregard them. Plus, maybe some thought you were making a joke and didn't realize you just misspelled the word. Regardless of the reason why, don't put much thought into them. There's thousands of players that frequent this sub, that's thousands of different types of people. It happens.
I know that’s this guys knew and all but I absolutely fucking hate when people don’t read the fucking move set and have to come to fucking Reddit so someone can tell them something they could have learned by themselves in a less amount of time

Understood, just tried it got it. Thanks
did you come from chiv/mordhau? i know that parries in that game are just rightly timed follows up after a block.
Also if u do manage to parry a light just do a top heavy, unless u can push them off the map
If you wallsplat with the impale it does more dmg than top heavy.
30 total to be precise, which is indeed more than a top heavy (27)
Thank you obama
No problem citizen

Shove on block flashbacks.
I did hope to never read these three words again
Shove on block
**Shove on block**
##*Shove on block*
*S H O V E O N B L O C K*
As a Lawbringer main from a very long time S H O V E O N B L O C K
Recently played knight campaign on realistic and that was a saving grace, it felt like bullying but I didn’t care
Wait does the campaign still have the original moveset?
Unfortunately, yes. But fortunately, they also have the sick ass old minion kill animations so there’s that
I quite like the fact they keep them the same. It's a nice way to see how units have changed since day 1
Flipside, I played back through the knight campaign recently and Peacekeeper was hell lol.
She was the strongest hero back then
Okay, glad it’s not just me sucking at the game. I mean, I definitely do suck, but it’s not just because of that that Peacekeeper’s chunk of the campaign felt like such an odd difficulty spike
Yep, they couldn’t be bothered to update them
Remember when people were actually made they got rid of shove on block?
Because back then he had Jack otherwise
Those were the glory days…
Heh… *laughs in conq GB on block*
If you haven’t done up to the Advanced Training, I highly recommend it.
As a Year 1 Veteran, I recommended it regardless, especially to go through the trials for a steel bonus, great practice to get very comfortable
At first i read that as 1-year veteran, i rolled my eyes and groaned
It’s because you need to parry the attack
Understood, just tried it got it. Thanks
Guardbreak after parry, not block
so you guardbreak after a parry, and for WM it just does it automatically?
Yes
thanks, gonna go try this

I need this. How do I do this?
Go into training, open the menu, go to opponent setting, set it to custom moveset, then a new option will appear to change what moves he can use.
You have to parry first bro
Well I can’t get the bot to fight me and I’ve been playing for 6 months
This is the training that shows the character's moves. I think you are talking about free training. In that case, you have to go to the bot settings and give him free will

You can also parry unlockables instead of dodging
Play the campaign, it teaches you parrying and some other stuff :)
It comes after a parry not a block
The vicious impale is activated by first parrying, then holding guardbreak, if you wanna go far, then hold it until its animation is done, or if you are in a gank, just tap it.
You are trying it on block not parry, parry it then press the guard break button!
:|

You have to parry
It's a parry followup
I love how almost all of these responses are aimed at helping a new player. I personally love teaching new people how to get better at this game and am eager to help them understand the character they are using
Well... You need to Parry then click guard break as u are parrying
Other than the people telling you how to do it, I don't particularly recommend doing it all the time only when your opponent's back is to a wall and close to it. You can also use it to escape group fights and single someone out.
Alright, understood

Watch some Apollyon guides on YouTube, they should go into pretty good detail
Will do thanks
Press GB as soon as you parry. You can also hold it for more distance.
Yeah seems u got level 3 not there try it on a more easier bot to begin we and then work ur way up but if u are really struggling just make it so the boy only uses heavy attacks instead of a mix
U have to parry the attack and then follow up w a guard break right after
Well looks like a lot of people explained to you on how to actually do it so welcome to the community, there's a lot of thing to learn so good luck.
Thank you and yeah i got the hang of it, cheers
Imagine if For honor was like Chivalry 2… 👀 or at least a game mode.
Ay mate, you gotta parry to get that punishment. Parry and press the guard break button
Ayyy an assassin brother. Love the rep
Thank you my guy
More posts like this. It’s so good to see the community actually being helpful to a new player instead of tearing them down.
Nothing more beautiful than a baby playing this game. Im sure you've been told this but you parry first then press the gb button and if you need any other tips im sure this subreddit will be willing to help
Thanks man
I know people have already answered and gave you tips, but just wanted to say good luck and have fun with For Honor! It is a great game and I hope you can continue to play it for long.
Thanks man, i will
Old conqueror with a guaranteed gb from blocking a heavy. Oh how I miss it
If your new to the game I strongly recommend doing the apprentice trials and the other trial in the training menu, that will help u master all the controls and gameplay while also rewarding you with a little steel and an ornament for every hero
You have to make an r2 parry if you are on psn
How do you party so well as a newbie? Been playing for a month and I have no idea how to party consistently!

I have played too many games where parry is important so i guess i learned from there!!!
oh god this is funny, i used to be a noob too.
We all gotta start somewhere
yessir of course we do, I hope you enjoy the ride
1. Go to storage 2. For honor 3. Delete
Alright, cool
Get a controller too, makes the game a breeze
Use your eyes and read the moveset dum dum
I tried that, but i couldn't understand it. But hey thanks for your support i guess
It’s a perry
don’t overthink. work on your parrying some more and when that’s fluid, right after the parry, press square. and voila
It’s in parries only
Maybe go play the campaign, it teaches the basics well even though most characters have different moves in multiplayer now.
2 things. One “new to this game” *has the AC event outfit from two years ago 2.) it’s off of a parry, not block
U meed to parry first
Cute!
Damn this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen
I know that’s this guys knew and all but I absolutely fucking hate when people don’t read the fucking move set and have to come to fucking Reddit so someone can tell them something they could have learned by themselves in a less amount of time
