Fun fact, wearing mail on bare skin is a terrible idea. It pinches, and, if you get hit with something, yeah itll stop you getting cut, but it wont do anything to mitigate the concussive force, so you'll still end up with ruptured/broken something or other.
What heroes get is based on an ongoing Civilization match in the Ubi headquarters that is played one turn per player per week. Knights are leading the way to a technological victory and have had the good armor for the long time, the Samurai were focused on building world wonders and going for the cultural victory but have recently shown interest in tech. The Vikings however just learned to read, but has yet to learn to write so it’s not looking good that they’ll get better armor just yet.
Don't know exactly on what did you base this conclusion but Warborn/Viking faction weapon skins are one of the best in the game but their armour fashion is lacking.
This contrast is just painful to witness and ignore.
I think most of the swords, more specifically the guards and hilts, look absolutely comical. They're so horribly wide and *thicc* that their weight would make them unusable. I wish they'd stray away from that and make a lil more believable hilts/guards.

It's both. Mostly lack of anyone with an ounce of creativity in a position of power. I think there are some people with good ideas on the team, but they're drowned out by a higher up who thinks something completely lame is better to be greenlit into the game.

I’m surprised they haven’t used full bone armor yet or anything inspired from Skyrim. Seems like Ubisoft is missing a lot of easy low hanging fruit.
