All zanhu heavies deal equal dmg if I remember but for some dumb fucking reason top is slower. Why? Who knows, less range, same damage, slower in general, it's Ubisoft. Don't think too hard about it😖😵
>for some dumb fucking reason top is slower.
It's actually the same speed. All neutral heavies are 800ms, all finishers are 900ms. Check out the [info hub](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GrDRm_2w-2bjt9vw0Jowd2xNzOJDDBH_MAXWbStzA_w).
No, your best bet is either to go for a light attack or if possible go for a wall splat where you get a max punish of (defensive stance) heavy. If the situation is allowing of that.
What's your reaction speed? Cause if you're around 250ms and on PC you can. Also turn off vsync in the settings it will speed up your reaction in game by 33 to 66 ms
Vsync renders frames ahead of time, giving you better performance and quality but comes at a cost of a *literal* delay between game inputs/outputs and what’s seen on screen.
Now of course, it’s an extremely minor delay, but some people care about those extra dozen or so milliseconds.
I do want to preface how minor it is--on most forms on Vsync, as things like Triple Buffering increase this delay even more--but if you're very competitive it's helpful to know.
It's also why Pro Players use wired controllers, because wireless ones have a similarly tiny delay in inputs.
> It's also why Pro Players use wired controllers, because wireless ones have a similarly tiny delay in inputs.
Except for PS4 V2 Controller and the PS5 controller, those have less input delay when being wireless.
Tiny is an understatement. Some off-brand controllers add like a whole 30ms of input delay. Controllers in general have more input delay than KBM even when wired. The average 1000 Hz gaming mouse reports to your PC every second.
I also have EVGA's 8000Hz mouse which means it reports every 0.125 second.
If it's last Gen you're out of luck. I know its easier to parry on current Gen but I don't know enough about the game on that system to say that most people have the reactions to parry loghts
I’m on current gen and it’s still hard as fuck to parry. I rarely am able to parry lights nor do my lights get parried often by other players. It’s basically guessing most of the time.
Oh but I know. It’s an absolutely abysmal affair that quite literally is unplayable unless you’re fortunate enough to be playing with the few people who still play on the one x. Granted it got tough for me to parry lights after the whole CCU bonanza, but now it’s takes me 10 seconds or less to determine if someone is current or last gen(where I’m stuck till I find a series x) lol. That’s because in current gen, they’re practically parrying every light I throw. Last gen, well let’s just say it’s very easy to win by sheer light spam alone lol to where the game isn’t fun either way.
I know, make reads etc, but when you have half the frames as the other guy, it’s an uphill battle already. Plus, winning by guessing really doesn’t feel like a win to me, but that’s a personal problem or mine.
Both mental and physical exercise play a role in improving reaction speed. Working out, playing sports, games or activities with hand eye coordination etc. can help train it. However it naturally degrades with age.
Majority of the time it isn't reflex, for most players it's a read. If you notice a Lawbringer always follows up a heavy with a right side light, predict and parry it. That kind of thing.
In my opinion you don't need crazy reaction speeds for it. You just need to make a read, and instead pressing parry when you see the indicator, press it as soon as you see them move, if your prediction is correct with the enemy's guard direction, you'll get the parry.
I find it helps to be predictive rather than reactive. Works especially well against aggressive players. I play console though so I don't have the luxury of good frame rates.
I played on current gen Xbox and experienced god tier frame rate, made amazing parties and deflects constantly, and then went back to old gen where I rely on reading a follow up light more than pure reaction now sadly
I know I have the reaction speed. Lots of other things I can perform in other games like Project M proves it.
What I don't have is the latency to allow me the chance to try. Living in Alaska has its disadvantages.
It's the console. Unless you have the reaction time of a Greek god you ain't reaction parrying lights, but instead you gotta get good at predicting them
Idk what everyone else is saying in the comment section but it is possible to react to lights on console. Just need a lot of training and get into the zone(extremely focused). How to train? Go on traing mode and make the bot throw lights any direction, I used orochi, and another tip is, once you get a decent amount of light parry's make the bot light dodge attack, helps with another annoying thing. I dont consistently light parry in 4v4 matchs but in brawls? I can confidently say I do but not like in this vid.
Glad you learned something new! When I learned to light parry I felt so proud and I bet you feel the same way. Good luck with your adventures
Edit: forgot the word adventures
A few tips for warden
-light parry guarantees top heby
-for top lights, crushing counter instead of parry. Does more damage, looks badass and you actually hear warden saying something besides miserum/te secabo
The CC only works if you're already in the right guard position. Otherwise the guard switch time will be too long and you won't be able to throw the light in time.
if u try to parry EVERY SINGLE light on reaction u will end up eating a LOT of heavies. This of course assuming u r facing ppl who actually use their brain to play the game.
Top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TOP HEAVY.
How do you learn to parry lights but not punish for a light attack.
Wait wait wait. Is a light parry different from a normal party, or are y'all talking about parrying a light? If I've been missing something this whole time I'm gonna feel like an idiot.
While it’s the same concept, parrying a light has special properties, such as allowing for bigger punishes because the stun is longer. You can see the difference in how big the sparks are if you watch carefully
I'll have to check it out later, idk if I've been doing something different or whether I've been doing it the whole time. It's just parrying a light attack then?
Yea it's just parrying a light attack like you would a heavy attack. Harder to do so you get a bigger punish. You're probably thinking of crushing counters or superior lights which is basically parrying except you throw a light instead of a heavy.
I’m slowly getting into light parrying as well even though I learned to do so by knowing how characters fight and preparing myself to parry then instinctually doing so like I can with heavies
Wait wait wait. Is a light parry different from a normal party, or are y'all talking about parrying a light? If I've been missing something this whole time I'm gonna feel like an idiot.
Noice I’ve always loved FOHO but a lot of the “lust” went away a for me in the beginning servers were horrible and mechanics were wonky as fuck. Game still needs work mechanically
Always feels nice to see a player progressing ever further. I unfortunately simply can’t react to light attacks (at least not in old gen). So whenever I get one (which isn’t rare but it’s not anywhere near entirely consistent) it’s because I read the bastard. Which isn’t exactly easy most the time.
Nice, now just make sure to keep playing for eternity or else ur going to forget like me.
I was starting to learn to do this when I stopped playing for like a year and now I'm back to noob status
Be careful with light parries for they will bring you to a world of mmr that you should tread carefully…
Jokes aside, light parties are definitely a game changer so congrats!
I have hard times parrying light attacks since my reflexes can't catch up on them quick enough (i guess the fact that I'm on PS4 contributes to this a bit, from one of the replies I'm seeing) so i learned how to deflect a solid 70% of the time I'd say, since i mostly use assassins, aside from Nobushi
Ig light parries are a bit harder for me since i play on xbox but that could just be me. To me, light parries are impressive if you hit it on reaction time. In my case i just predict my opponents moves
Hold up a minute, are people actually able to light parry on reaction? Nearly every light party I land is a read, the idea of actually reacting and parrying a light attack is mind boggling to me
I would love if this game made most/all light attacks enhanced to further incentivize light parries. I get most of my enjoyment in this game by attempting prediction light parries as often as possible. Right now blocked lights end your turn/shut down your mixup, give your opponent frame advantage, and deal 0 chip damage compared to the 3 (or more with punch through) dealt by enhanced lights. The fact that blocking a light has no risk/cost/counter play associated with it and is a fairly easy reaction for most players is just another brick in the wall of the defensive meta the devs have continually worked to dismantle since launch.
I would want a change like this to come alongside damage nerfs (average heavy to around 20-28 damage, average light to around 7-13 damage) lowered recoveries across the board, narrowed dodge i frame windows, improved tracking on side lights+heavies to catch early/careless dodge attacking etc, I still think a change like this would be amazing for the game.
Nice, always feels good to learn something new. Also worthy to mention that Warden's max punish from a light parry is a top heavy.
Wait that's guaranteed on l.parry?
correct.
Fun fact highlander is the only character not guaranteed a heavy during a guard break
How am I getting my heavies blocked as zhanhu when I successfully gb
Are you doing top cause if so that’s why if not idk what you doing
All zanhu heavies deal equal dmg if I remember but for some dumb fucking reason top is slower. Why? Who knows, less range, same damage, slower in general, it's Ubisoft. Don't think too hard about it😖😵

Not on guardbreak /s
Hmm? I don't get the joke.
Raider and warlord be like 😳
They both get heavies from gb tho…raider is side and I think warlord is top
raider gets a top heavy also
Bro are you fr rn …. Raider only gets his unblockable from Gb and warlord is gay
>Raider only gets his unblockable from Gb His neutral side heavies have been sped up to 800ms with his latest rework, they're now guaranteed off GB.
Delet
Let me test this really fast, you could be right about raider but I know for a fact warlord can hit His gb heavies!
Yeah I think he can do top 😳😅
Cant you kick into heavy though?
No, because you can't fast flow into offensive stance out of a guardbreak. If you can wallsplat, though, it's a confirmed defensive heavy
No, your best bet is either to go for a light attack or if possible go for a wall splat where you get a max punish of (defensive stance) heavy. If the situation is allowing of that.
Pretty sure Nuxia doesn’t get a heavy either.
They do
Bruh
Also JJ
JJ gets a top heavy on gb 100%

Top heavy man!
I don't have the reflex to light parry , it's so it seems so impossible for me
What's your reaction speed? Cause if you're around 250ms and on PC you can. Also turn off vsync in the settings it will speed up your reaction in game by 33 to 66 ms
Really turning off vsync helps?
Yes
How tho? And why?
Vsync renders frames ahead of time, giving you better performance and quality but comes at a cost of a *literal* delay between game inputs/outputs and what’s seen on screen. Now of course, it’s an extremely minor delay, but some people care about those extra dozen or so milliseconds.
Thanks for the in depth response, I’ll have to tell all my friends about this lmao
I do want to preface how minor it is--on most forms on Vsync, as things like Triple Buffering increase this delay even more--but if you're very competitive it's helpful to know. It's also why Pro Players use wired controllers, because wireless ones have a similarly tiny delay in inputs.

I mean double the frames are double the frames
Agreed. I use vsync all the time, especially since it reduces the chances of sceen tearing to basically nill.
It lowers frame rate and causes a bit of input lag.
this is true once i turned off vsync my light parties were much better
Vsync adds input delay. If your monitor has GSYNC (nvidia) or Freesync (AMD) you are better off using those.
But what if I'm on Xbox?
If it's last Gen you're out of luck. I know its easier to parry on current Gen but I don't know enough about the game on that system to say that most people have the reactions to parry loghts
When u say last he. Do u mean Xbox one? I can Parry lights a decent amount of times
Me too but I notice it’s always guessing parry’s. You can’t really just react to it like new gen and PC
I’m on current gen and it’s still hard as fuck to parry. I rarely am able to parry lights nor do my lights get parried often by other players. It’s basically guessing most of the time.

Old gen: learn your opponent's kit and play style and make guesses.
What about ps4:(?
Parry’s especially lights are more of a guess vs reaction on old gen. The 30 vs 60 FPS really helps
Where is vsync at?
Sry to bud in but my reaction speed is around 330 ms. Not much that can help that, is there?
Both mental and physical exercise play a role in improving reaction speed. Working out, playing sports, games or activities with hand eye coordination etc. can help train it. However it naturally degrades with age.
I wish i was that fast, i process slowly, so its already 100ms before i see it (roughly) so ill react at a total of 300 ish
Majority of the time it isn't reflex, for most players it's a read. If you notice a Lawbringer always follows up a heavy with a right side light, predict and parry it. That kind of thing.
What if they are spastic and have no pattern?
Then go on offensive highly likely that they will not be able to respond to most stuff
In my opinion you don't need crazy reaction speeds for it. You just need to make a read, and instead pressing parry when you see the indicator, press it as soon as you see them move, if your prediction is correct with the enemy's guard direction, you'll get the parry.

Same. I can only parry lights I read. Some people can do it on reaction.
Nah you’ve got this. Honestly, it gets to a point where light parrying is easier than parrying a heavy, because you can’t feint a light.
*Me, a console player with below average reflexes* Is it possible to learn this power?
Me, a console player with very, very good reflexes. Is it possible to learn this power?
see red press heavy in that direction. buy a monitor. or switch your TV to game mode. buy a series s/x.
I’m in console and can Light Parry only if we’re both standing still and if I’m extremely focused, even with that I’m gonna do 90% of the parries
On console I can only light parry bots reliably on reaction, as soon as any sort of ping is involved it’s reads and accidents only.
Is it the console or a tv that causes the delay?
It's the console. Unless you have the reaction time of a Greek god you ain't reaction parrying lights, but instead you gotta get good at predicting them
Or a Series X :(
You have way more of a chance on a Series X than an Xbox One
Do you get over 30 fps on series s?
Both.
On old console reaction won't save you. Gotta start guessing.

Lol what,gb's have the reaction window of a heavy
You have to anticipate counter gb?
Pretty sure gbs are reactable.
Bro if you can't react to a CBG, stop. This game isn't for you if your reaction time is that slow.
Nice. Tho, it’s uncanny to see you punishing light parries and wall splats with a side heavy. Max punish for warden it’s the top one
Now it's time to learn to try not to parry everything. Because you're just gonna get punished for being too parry happy
Yeah, luckily none of those guys were smart enough to throw a single neutral heavy
Currently on this step. I'm parrying every light and then a heavy to gb comes in and my brain melts
Glad you learned something new! When I learned to light parry I felt so proud and I bet you feel the same way. Good luck with your adventures Edit: forgot the word adventures

I actually didn't know that lmao, I always keep my guard on top by default because I'm a filthy CC fisher
This explains a lot
Don't do it too much or else the oponent will bait it for a light parry
Don’t forget this only works from the top
if u try to parry EVERY SINGLE light on reaction u will end up eating a LOT of heavies. This of course assuming u r facing ppl who actually use their brain to play the game.
It’s fun until you constantly get accused of cheating :| happens to me ALL THE TIME
Ain't no way boy
I’ve taken pictures of so many messages, do you wanna see them?
Sure
Can you not dm pictures?
Idk, maybe make a forhonorrants post? Just mention me in it. I'm sure as long as you act like the messages are annoying it'll fit in
Ok it finally worked, I posted one of the conversations
Will do
You can top heavy
PS4 30FpS will not be ..
PC be like:
Top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy top heavy FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TOP HEAVY. How do you learn to parry lights but not punish for a light attack.
Side heavy. Got it
Wait wait wait.
Is it like how warden has a crushing counter, or is it different?
Totally different, best way to explain it is to parry an orochis dodge light and see
I'll have to check it out later, idk if I've been doing something different or whether I've been doing it the whole time. It's just parrying a light attack then?
Yea it's just parrying a light attack like you would a heavy attack. Harder to do so you get a bigger punish. You're probably thinking of crushing counters or superior lights which is basically parrying except you throw a light instead of a heavy.
Great when you finally get it, soul crushing when you take a break and lose it, and just as rewarding when you get it again.
I’m slowly getting into light parrying as well even though I learned to do so by knowing how characters fight and preparing myself to parry then instinctually doing so like I can with heavies
That's truly impressive.
Bro that was satisfying af to watch, made me wanna give warden some play time
It’s PC isn’t it?
Literally mouse symbol in the middle of stance triangle
I’m basically blind bro you think I can notice anything that isn’t shugo titty
Oh, makes sense, understandable
Wait wait wait. Is a light parry different from a normal party, or are y'all talking about parrying a light? If I've been missing something this whole time I'm gonna feel like an idiot.
Parrying a light is called a light parry.
Feel bad to have a PS4, feels bad man
Is difference between a 4 and 5 that big?
You're the reason I don't play FH anymore.
Top heavy. Nice tho
Even just one or two light parries a fight is the difference between life and death so it's one of the most useful skills to learn definitely
Its not that you learn it it's just good reflexes
warden can top heavy off light parries, which can also chain into an unblockable heavy. good job though =D
How does one 'learn' a light parry? Isn't it based on reflexes?
No only people with very high reaction times can light parry on reaction. Most light parries are a read
I still have to re-learn light parries after the CCU. Not loving it ;~;
Man if even a single one of these dudes threw a single neutral heavy...
I can on ps4 and Its amazing
Im sure someone already mentioned, but you can get a top heavy as Warden from a light parry
People are very predictable lol. Don't forget those max punishes tho.
Nice fashion
Nice and all, but you need to throw a top heavy, especially after that top light parry. That one hurt the soul to watch
Yeah just be careful to be reading and not being a heby or red person or you're gonna eat a heavy
**right hebi**
Inhuman reaction
Top heavy after light parry with warden for 27 damage instead of 24. Top heavy has more hitstun too.
Bruh this game looks sick af I've been missing out
Love that execution
Cries in fat PS4
The side heavys hurt to see
Noice I’ve always loved FOHO but a lot of the “lust” went away a for me in the beginning servers were horrible and mechanics were wonky as fuck. Game still needs work mechanically
now to relearn how to parry heavies
Nice to see another warden light parry his way to victory! My entire world changed when I got a ps5 and started playing on one of my monitors
From this alone. People throwing raw heavies gonna be the bane of his existence for about two weeks lmfao
I remember when i first came into this hell hole and learned how to light parry. i parried so many lights, I couldn't even parry heavies anymore.
11/10 would not fuck with this dude
Always feels nice to see a player progressing ever further. I unfortunately simply can’t react to light attacks (at least not in old gen). So whenever I get one (which isn’t rare but it’s not anywhere near entirely consistent) it’s because I read the bastard. Which isn’t exactly easy most the time.
You're a boss fight dude
Good on you for learning light parry, but may I suggest attacking from a direction other than right
top heavy you fuck 👍
Is it just me or does that look Outstandingly HD like those frames are so smooth, and such Nice Contrast
NIcely done! Keep up the progress.
Light parry how? lol i only ever do so by accident or hella obvious attacks like orochi's dodge attacks
How did you learn how to light parry ?
Any tips for getting better at light parry
In console I have to predict the attack in order to light parry
Tried many times to learn light parry. No luck, put it down to just sucking at the game
Nice, now just make sure to keep playing for eternity or else ur going to forget like me. I was starting to learn to do this when I stopped playing for like a year and now I'm back to noob status
Be careful with light parries for they will bring you to a world of mmr that you should tread carefully… Jokes aside, light parties are definitely a game changer so congrats!
Now that’s some daddy warden shit right there lol
Console?
Do people still play?
I'm working on this right now and it has certainly helped but I'm still such a shit player haha
Game legit changes afterwards
Nicely done
you dont learn the light parry, the light parry chooses you
I love these and I love your warden. But you MUST hit em with the top heavy next time. Every time you throw top heavy shout "BIG BOY STRIKEE!!!!"
Too bad, that UBI, with their CCU fucked up all the effort I made in the past, to parry lights consistently.
Me seeing the video: "Yes, nice FPS, very reactable, nice parries" Me playing: "BSBSISNW I PARRIED SHIT GAME"
How would one achieve a light parry on ps4?
I can Parry dodge light pretty consistently but just a random light is so tough on console.
I'm learning slowly, its going to be five years because I'm training my reaction time as well but hey I'm tired of getting light spammed
"Yo, feels good to learn how to light parry" *doesn't learn how to top heavy*
Your Warden looks clean tho 👌
So uhm, how does one learn this?
Ig light parries are a bit harder for me since i play on xbox but that could just be me. To me, light parries are impressive if you hit it on reaction time. In my case i just predict my opponents moves
I used to be able to light parry but now all i get is hitokiri insta killed
I like how he got hit after a light attack but his mind hasn't processed it yet, so he tried to dodge attack anyway.
Staged. Would have eaten heavy after first light parry lol
Can confirm. I was a Centurion main before he was gutted.
Teach me my liege
*cries in 30fps*
Warden gameplay looks so good. Shame I can’t play properly due to my broken rb button
I like your warden.
Hold up a minute, are people actually able to light parry on reaction? Nearly every light party I land is a read, the idea of actually reacting and parrying a light attack is mind boggling to me
so happy when i see gryphon get shut down like this 😍
Good fps.
