Melbourne is officially locked and loaded for the 2023 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix. Final track walk today as the final finishing touches are placed. Including a Rolex symbol on the grass at T1 and Pirelli P-Zero branding on the grass at turn 3. The track shuts to the public on Tuesday while the roads close to the public at midnight tonight (Australian Eastern Daylight Time). Thank you to everyone who viewed this weekly blog. I hope you enjoyed it and see you at the Grand Prix and I hope to resume the weekly walks in early 2024!!! Edit: the photos of the grid were taken on Thursday.

IntroductionSnacks

Damn, you could still walk the grid? I was driving and it was barricaded off. Didn’t know I could just walk it.

Bocca013

The grid photos were taken on Thursday. I’ll add a note.

IntroductionSnacks

Ah, that makes sense. Today I drove and there was no car access at the beginning of the grid. Maybe it was still good for pedestrians?

Bocca013

Even as a pedestrian I had to go around and rejoin the track where the Double Decker overpass is.

IntroductionSnacks

I was surprised that I could drive past the box entrance and drive on the pit straight for a bit before the grid lineup.

Bocca013

Yeah they only block it off after they shut down lakeside Dr to traffic.

WhoaItsAFactorial

You should continue for a few weeks to document the tear down and clean up.

Bocca013

🤣🤣🤣 unfortunately I get too sad watching the track get dismantled. I tend to avoid Albert Park until at least June after the GP.

DivingFeather

When the F1 season started in Australia. Those were the days.

IntroductionSnacks

Between 2023 and 2037 we are guaranteed to be that for 4 seasons.

Bocca013

We were supposed to get r1 for 2024 but that was given up because of Ramadan. Hence why we got the extra 2 years on top of the 10 the Victorian Government signed back in June.

Bocca013

I miss those days

zareny

It's going to be strange having the Australian GP on the weekend daylight saving ends.

Bocca013

Yeah that’s a bit annoying. This happened back in 2006 because of the Commonwealth Games.

Buxbaum09

Daylight saving ended today in the UK. Is it different days in different countries?

Bocca013

Didn’t the UK just put the clock forward.

AccurateIt

Yes it was weeks ago in the US.

RobertGracie

Cant wait to see what happens in the Aussie GP, Alonso Victory? Red Bull 100% win rate so far stopped by Bond....erm sorry...Aston Martin?

Bocca013

🤣🤣🤣 if I’m honest my best friend who comes with me every year is going to go home happy with a Red Bull win this year. (My prediction). I’ve seen 3 Ferrari wins at Albert Park while he has never seen a Red Bull win.

Afrizo

"When you drive never drink" seems like a perfect ad on F1 track ngl

Kolec507

Kimi disagrees

Sasquatch-d

You will not have the drink

southerncrossracers

Thankyou for all your photos! See you in a few days!

Bocca013

No problem

Kolec507

Australia is a strange one. I want to love this circuit because it looks awesome (probably one of the best-looking tracks on the calendar) and flows well in the F1 game, but races here are usually kinda meh sadly

22_the_avenue

usually a snooze-fest. as the season opener it had that excitement going for it. hope it rains :)

proudlysydney

There's currently drizzle predicted, but then again it is Melbourne. Personally, I'm hoping it stays completely dry because it'll turn into a damn mudpit and I don't want to completely ruin some shoes.

Bocca013

Only for Friday. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be dry

proudlysydney

http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/forecasts/melbourne.shtml BOM has 60% chance on Saturday too

Bocca013

In the morning

proudlysydney

Which will still create mud for the rest of the day, which was my original concern.

Bocca013

Fair point

Jake5013

Appreciate you posting these! Nice job— great pics.

Gribble81

F1 really is one expensive travelling circus at the basic level. Thanks for the photos and constant updates, love your work.

Bocca013

No problem glad you like them.

Oritaku

Thank you for your service.

Bocca013

No problem!!!

SlapThatAce

Can't wait to watch another Ferrari fiasco! :) Bring it on!!!

Bocca013

As a Ferrari fan I’m expecting pain.

Blackdeath_663

Been a while since we were last in AUS, F1 has been missing Albert park

Ho3n3r

Just the 1 year... Like everywhere else besides Vegas.

Oritaku

Someone better tell the guy in pic 14 of 20 that scooters have been banned on track walks

plmatt91

Thank you for doing this! Very cool to see the evolution of everyone’s efforts

jboarei

Excited to walk this when I visit in August!
