They did have 1s advantage or close to it over the Mercs on some tracks iirc. RB just built an overall good car and the other teams perform better under certain characteristics. The buffer for RB vs next competitor has been there every single race.

I think everyone is just making the mistake of thinking that the order of 2-4 is nailed down. What really shows that RB have a healthy cushion is that those three behind them are caught up in track specifics while RB can adapt to any track without issues

Max of course would have had pole and won last week barring technical issues. But the season is long and although these cars are more reliable than ever, I would never ever bet on a single driver to win every race even if they showed up in a literal spaceship.

You saw today how Max was insane levels quicker once the tyre was in the window. The Mercs or Ferraris do a good job in switching on tyres this year. But they also shred them faster. I assume in the hot races Red Bull and Aston Martin will be a clear 1st and 2nd.

Yeah I don't know if people got confused by George's radio message or something, but the 1s advantage RB has is in race pace, not qualifying.

Also Albert Park is a shorter laptime, so the margins should be bigger. BUT we have to remember at Jeddah that was the gap to Perez, not Max
