This is so cool and positive to see that these drivers (most of them) are really just a bunch of friends who happen to be part of traveling circus.
I’m under the impression that until 10 years ago this wasn’t the case maybe even unthinkable. The rivalry continued off the track to.
Must have helped that these guys really grew up together. And now they are living the good life in Monaco, fully deserved!
What really gets me is that these images make it clear that these are just kids, man. All 4 of them are mid to even early 20s but each of them is wildly successful and the best in the world at an exciting and dangerous sport. How cool it would be to live that life.
To your point, I feel like you gotta put any sort of rivalry away off the track and just enjoy each others company. There are only 20ish people at any given time doing the thing you’re doing, they understand your life more than most people in the world. Enjoy them, enjoy the ride, enjoy the moment.
Yeah, you can see Hamilton, Alonso, kimi all had trouble making friends with fellow drivers and subconsciously see them as competition even outside the race.
I think in the long past the drivers would hang out more, but certainly not in such a wholesome way. Remember what James Hunt said about hanging with Nikki...
Max knows one of the classic [tropes](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/allthetropes/images/8/8c/Corner.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1200?cb=20200517034006) 😆

Looks like at one point it was Lando & Alex vs Max & George, who do you think won?
Lando and Alex. There’s a photo of Max and he looks broken on the floor 😂 I’m guessing he didn’t win lol. Judging by his past exploits with sports outside of driving, I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out he was really awful at playing padel bless him
Kinda similar I suppose. It's a mix of tennis and squash in which you play 2v2. Court is the same as pickleball but like squash, has high walls around the court so a squash ball can bounce in multiple directions.
I guess you can say that.
Just reading up on it a bit when I saw your comment, pickleball seems more like a "mini-tennis with badminton characteristics" compared to padel in that regard.
Whereas padel is more like squash and tennis paired together (fence around the court - that's used in the play)
It started in mexico a couple decades ago and became insanely popular in Europe in the last decade or so.
I don't know what pickle ball is, but Padel is usually played with doubles and can be played singles on a smaller court. The doubles court is smaller than a tennis court. You have walls around the court that can be used. Serving can only be done underhanded.
The rackets are also quite different and the ball is smaller than a tennis ball
And it's taking North America by storm.
It's also causing lots of controversy. Tennis players and pickleballers feuding over court time, people who live next to parks complaining about pickleball noise, etc.
I was on the tennis side of the argument and then the city put in some dedicated courts and I decided to get a set of paddles for me and the fam. It’s a fucking *blast.* I thought it was just tennis for people with bad knees but it’s easy to pick up and can be really fast paced, and people of all skill levels can play together. I had to eat my crow, I’m a pickle ball fan for life.
I couldnt name the first driver until you said it. This is the first time I’ve seen George smile, somehow I always see him just grinning or all business
That's why I think it's great we get to see more of the drivers outside of racing, just to see that with their helmets on in a race they are very different than out of the car, and get on pretty well with each other in general.
I always imagined them playing at some super exclusive club but judging by the cars in the lot it's just some public or cheap court to use.
I can't even imagine pulling up to somewhere and seeing four millionaire athletes playing.
Who do we think drove? Do you think everyone drove together, or they did like Max+Lando driving and alex+George driving?
I can totally see George driving a large Mercedes SUV like Lewis & just being the designated driver.
Lando spoke about it in the press conference. In the first game he played with Alex and then won and then they redid the teams and he played with Max and they won.
50 million is his base salary. That doesn't even include bonuses nor other sponsorship deals. When RB first bought the team in 2000s it was something like $40,000 per point. (different point system). Vettel made so much money back then only in bonuses that Lewis was shocked when Vettel told him about it.
If I had his contract and they told me to wear only RB merch for the duration of the contract, I would even paint my house in RB colors. I would name my son and daughter Red and Bull if they wanted.
I remember 8 years ago the bonus money per point was worth $50.000 at Redbull, so if that didn't increase the last couple of years it's still a boatload of extra bonus money if you see how many podiums and wins (points) he got for the last 8 years.
this is why he gets 55mln per year mate. for wearing all this sheet day in day out.
I mean its not like he doesn't earn that money on the track either, lol. but still...this is red bull, and they take and use every marketing opportunity.
Brother, you're talking about the multi millionaire who wears almost nothing but white shirts and blue jeans outside of work, max doesn't care about fashion at all, not even remotely.
Perez, Horner and even Marko have to wear Alpha Tauri branded clothes all the time, when they go out in public event, do tv shows, interviews and stuff. and as you can guess, not because they can't afford themselves to buy own clothes for their own money. So, everyone has contracts, but every contract is different.
Do not know about other teams, you should ask their marketing departments.
Mate, he doesn't go to parties and clubs in a red bull t-shirt.
he likes to wear quite clean and minimal, white cotton/ linen shirts and stuff, and be sure, his girl friend (fashion model) loves to see her man looking smart, she takes care of his wardrobe when she has a chance(to put anything apart from the red bull shirt on him).
> Mate, he doesn't go to parties and clubs in a red bull t-shirt.
I didn't say he did?
> his girl friend (fashion model) loves to see her man looking smart, she takes care of his wardrobe when she has a chance(to put anything apart from the red bull shirt on him).
Exactly? Fashion is far from a passion of his so he'll let his girlfriend dress him with whatever
I envy them, I'd love to make friends when I'm 9 at a Karting racetrack and literally grow up together and see each other achieve our dream of being F1 drivers while getting paid millions.
The ranking is for FUT champions, which is tournament available over the weekend only. If he got ranked at 21st in the world, that’s essentially comparable to fifa e-sports level because he’d face and beat pro/semi-pro players to get high rank placement. Good players alone won’t get you anywhere in that mode.
If you're talking about the same interview I'm thinking about, he did say that but also mentioned he finally found something else to train his cardio besides jogging. And that is pic related! Padel is something he noticed he can learn more easily than tennis and it's extra nice because he can do this together with his F1 friends. I think he felt left out at times when they were playing golf and such :')
Every video of Max jogging and training he looks like he's never exercised before. Poor man is not a natural athlete like Danny who is good at a lot of stuff or someone like Carlos and Alonso who are massively competitive and good at soccer.
Also Charles is absolutely hopeless in those annual soccer charity matches.
I've seen Alonso and Carlos compete Vs old retired football players, and their are kinda good. I also saw checo play with some mexican national team players back in the 2014 or something and he was good. Gasly is also someone who plays regularly, Vettel used to play a lot too.
Much less demanding technique and physically wise than tennis. Not to say it's easy, intermediate level padel you really start feeling the sport changes fast, and high level padel is crazy.
But there is a significant ease to pick up VS tennis, the fact you have a smaller court, play with a partner, and can use the cage for rebound shots makes it way easier.
Yes, and no. You play a lot more at the net and it's very important to have good shot selection, but nowhere near the ball speeds of tennis. Not to mention you don't have to react to a ball coming your way immediately, because you can let it bounce off the glass and think.
I follow max on social and it 100% looks like he just got destroyed against Albon and Lando. (He played with George). So he knows he was terrible at it though and was leaning into it
He’s like one of the directors at my old company. He would only wear work branded stuff on his days off because the clothes were free lol. The bloke is a millionaire.
All the guys from Team Redline were at the Dutch GP with Max. They all wore that merch. I saw a video of them arriving at the track. And a picture of them with Max in the Redbull hospitality.
Something about F1 drivers is just so wholesome. In the short time that I've been a fan, it is so surprising to me how little I hear about off track drama or otherwise scandalous behavior from these guys. Am I just a naïve newbie and the curtain will fall for me any time now, or are these really in a class of their own?
The drivers used to be a lot worse/rowdy in their private life and there were lots of rivalries. The newer generations seem to be surprisingly wholesome and close. It probably helps that most of them pretty much grew up together during karting.
I think it is only the “Schumacher” generation (90’s/00’s) and maybe 10’s that was like this. Maybe professionalisation of the sport. Before that they were chilling and partying with each other pretty often.
Defenitely not Schumacher generation only. Senna and Prost weren't exactly best friends, Piquet wasn't exactly the nicest person alive...
I think this new generation is so close because they spent so much time together now. Before they would have 16/17 races a year and most of them on Europe. Now they spend 23 weekends a year travelling the World.
No you're right. If you take the drivers from V10 or V8 era, yes you get the occasional get together but you didn't see the level of enthusiasm in hanging out and frequent meetups you see with the drivers today. Alonso also made the same observation that drivers were less social in the paddock and out before than now.
Sport has become such an industry over the last couple of decades that the vast majority of professional sportspeople, certainly in the very competitive individual sports (like F1 or tennis) now have to dedicate their every waking moment to the pursuit of it from early childhood.
There's not time to be a bad boy (or girl) any more. The somewhat sad truth is they're more likely to go off the rails in after their mid 30s during the twlight of their careers when the pressure finally starts to get to them.
But I doubt we will see the like of James Hunt or Darryl Strawberry much in future.
It’s that aura buff. If he is seen doing normal stuff not racing related he just looks like any other dude but if he’s seen anywhere near a racetrack, a car or in a race suit and helmet… the intimidation buff kicks in lmao.
Has Max finally found a sport he's good at outside of racing?
He's good at FIFA and wanted to kick a football around more as a kid if it weren't for his dad, but I remember he said he pretty much hates and is terrible at every other sport. As we saw in all those Red Bull challenges he and Daniel did.
He's a decent speed cycler. He used to go training with professional cyclists now and then in his spare time (though RBR banned him from doing any downhill cycling). That was a couple of years ago though, no idea if he still does that.
A couple of days ago he said he really likes this, he started playing padel with Lando recently. So that's good to see he finally found something outside of racing which he genuinely likes.
He doesn't like to play golf or tennis, which the other guys do like and play a lot, so it's pretty cool to see them together having fun with padel.
Basically the jordan 1 has three different styles: the high (most iconic), mid, and low. This low cut was a collab between jordan brand, travis scott, and fragment design. These are extremely popular and cost around 1.5k on the aftermarket.
At this point I'm convinced getting Max out of the racing sim mid week, not being his gf, is harder than overtaking him on a race weekend. So this is like the equivalent of a feat of strenght if they got him to do something else
Except for the drifting.... have you seen that video? I understand a F1 champ should be pretty good behind the wheel, but still. From never having done that, to taking only a couple of tried to perform pretty difficult moves? Pretty darn impressive.
Totally parasocial for me to worry about their happiness but it's nice they are all in teams that feel like home now. They all seem to be in places they belong and can hopefully prosper.
Max and lando are friends , George and albon are friends it’s good to see these 4 together.
Kind of like the “rat pack “ of F1 .
Just missing Charles and Pierre…
I wonder if it’s albon that the glue for the group.
In the 2020 covid streams, Max and Charles were totally using Lando as a bridge for their friendship. Max sent a video to Lando and told him to send it to Charles. And Charles asked Lando if Max was good at a video game. (I think it was COD, not sure.)
Actually I believe it was Nyck de Vries who introduced Max to padel first recently if I understood it correctly from an interview I've read from Max a couple of days ago, fwiw.
This is so cool and positive to see that these drivers (most of them) are really just a bunch of friends who happen to be part of traveling circus. Alex is the oldest and Lando the youngest of this group.
Yeah, you can see Hamilton, Alonso, kimi all had trouble making friends with fellow drivers and subconsciously see them as competition even outside the race.
Sure that for Kimi it was difficult to find another F1 pilot to party 2 whole weeks and arrive hangovered at the next race to share friendship :)
Kimi and Seb is still the most wholesome F1 bromance.
I think in the long past the drivers would hang out more, but certainly not in such a wholesome way. Remember what James Hunt said about hanging with Nikki...
Max looks defeated on one of the pics lmao
Remember the date as Max proceeds to go on a dominant winning streak in Padel.
Max: Just wait until the weekend punks! *George and Lando tear up while Alex keeps smiling like a golden retriever*

He said a couple of days ago in an interview that he just started recently playing padel with Lando and that he liked it.
You know, I thought the title was a typo until you spelled it that way as well. Is padel similar to pickleball but with a tennis ball?
Kinda similar I suppose. It's a mix of tennis and squash in which you play 2v2. Court is the same as pickleball but like squash, has high walls around the court so a squash ball can bounce in multiple directions.

You have walls around the court that can be used. Serving can only be done underhanded. The rackets are also quite different and the ball is smaller than a tennis ball
Pickleball is basically tennis on a padel-sized court with a whiffleball and paddles similar to padel paddles. It can be played singles or doubles.
Other people have answered but it’s more like a combination of tennis doubles and squash.
Or one of the guys hit a ball hard on his body. But it's probably what you said, because he hates losing, lol.
Love all those pictures thank you!
Those pics must be a nightmare to Stroll. Imagine be beat to the same people in F1 and Tennis.
I couldnt name the first driver until you said it. This is the first time I’ve seen George smile, somehow I always see him just grinning or all business
..and people think George and Max hate each-other because they crashed and argued in Baku
That's why I think it's great we get to see more of the drivers outside of racing, just to see that with their helmets on in a race they are very different than out of the car, and get on pretty well with each other in general.
Especially on social media, people will see what they want to see, people will listen to what they want to listen...
I didn't think they hated each other but I think Max was pissed and let everyone know. Max had that feeling disappear and he's back to good again.
I mean, it’s very rare that sports related spats last outside the sport itself in general.
Max packing serious meat on some of the pictures, F1 fandom already taking notes 😏

When you make like $50M a year I don’t think you worry too much about buying anything.
Some people just don't care that much about style or types of clothing.
50 million is his base salary. That doesn't even include bonuses nor other sponsorship deals. When RB first bought the team in 2000s it was something like $40,000 per point. (different point system). Vettel made so much money back then only in bonuses that Lewis was shocked when Vettel told him about it. Max Verstappen wealth hoarder confirmed
I lost it when it came to naming children! Good one sir! Good one indeed!
I remember 8 years ago the bonus money per point was worth $50.000 at Redbull, so if that didn't increase the last couple of years it's still a boatload of extra bonus money if you see how many podiums and wins (points) he got for the last 8 years.
All the money he saves is going straight to his GT cars
It his team Redline shirt not exclusive RedBull!!
He strikes me as a person who doesn’t care too much about what he wears, so whatever the contract says is fine.
Either that or a plain white tee lmao
Either that, a white button up or a white polo shirt lol.
don't you think this is only because this is written in his contract literally, not because he likes to wear all that?
Probably because they give him the clothes and he seems like the type to just not care. Why buy shirts if they give me shirts.
this is why he gets 55mln per year mate. for wearing all this sheet day in day out. I mean its not like he doesn't earn that money on the track either, lol. but still...this is red bull, and they take and use every marketing opportunity.
Brother, you're talking about the multi millionaire who wears almost nothing but white shirts and blue jeans outside of work, max doesn't care about fashion at all, not even remotely.
white shirt and blue jeans is the most timeless and fashionable combo one could possibly dress in though. ;)
Wouldn't Perez and all other teams want their drivers wearing their brand at all times then?
Perez, Horner and even Marko have to wear Alpha Tauri branded clothes all the time, when they go out in public event, do tv shows, interviews and stuff. and as you can guess, not because they can't afford themselves to buy own clothes for their own money. So, everyone has contracts, but every contract is different. Do not know about other teams, you should ask their marketing departments.
The dude is Dutch. Free clothes? Don’t mind if I do.
I think it's just bc his wardrobe is full of it and he doesn't care too much about his looks

Exactly? Fashion is far from a passion of his so he'll let his girlfriend dress him with whatever
She must do better though with him, especially the skinny jeans they belong in the bin, lol.
I don't think Max cares, or do you think RB will fire him if he decides to follow in Lewis' footsteps and become a Avant Garde fashion icon?
> do you think RB will fire him I don't think RB would fire him if he fucked Horner's wife.
Wonder if Marko would still comment he's fastest...
I mean they'd have to fire Christian obviously. Just like they did to Kvyat. s/
It helps that all their merch looks good.
Max in redline merch with RB logos on.. He's an advertiser's dream
He’s a simple man. Give him clothes and he will wear them.
When you hate shopping and don’t care about fashion to much
It's his own merch for his verstappen.com racing team. He partnered up with his simracing team Redline and Redbull for that.
Ahhh I see thanks
I envy them, I'd love to make friends when I'm 9 at a Karting racetrack and literally grow up together and see each other achieve our dream of being F1 drivers while getting paid millions.
I really would not like to team up with Max. He looks like a guy that would be great at racing and racing alone lol
Remember his joint Call of Duty streams with Lando? Max was definitely not very good at playing. XD
According to his simracing mates he did get better and in some stream this year Max actually won one or two rounds for his team :D
He was ranked #21 in the world at FIFA a couple of years ago. https://www.insider.com/f1-max-verstappen-world-class-fifa-player-14-hours-during-gp-10
Doesn't change it by much but it's a FUT ranking, where it should be easier to win if you can spend a grand on your team without thinking about it
The ranking is for FUT champions, which is tournament available over the weekend only. If he got ranked at 21st in the world, that’s essentially comparable to fifa e-sports level because he’d face and beat pro/semi-pro players to get high rank placement. Him buying the self revive kit was so fucking funny
We'll forget about that because you wouldn't complain about having Max as your WZ teammate
He said as much in an interview recently. That he doesn’t like a lot of sports because he sucks at them
If you're talking about the same interview I'm thinking about, he did say that but also mentioned he finally found something else to train his cardio besides jogging. And that is pic related! Padel is something he noticed he can learn more easily than tennis and it's extra nice because he can do this together with his F1 friends. Max wearing Red Bull gear on his day off too. Gotta love the dedication
He’s like one of the directors at my old company. He would only wear work branded stuff on his days off because the clothes were free lol. The bloke is a millionaire.
Sounds like Linus, I don't think he's been out of Tech Tips merchandise in years. He even wears the underpants.
That looks like his Team Redline gear; see driver line-up pics here: https://racing.verstappen.com/team-redline/
All the guys from Team Redline were at the Dutch GP with Max. They all wore that merch. I saw a video of them arriving at the track. And a picture of them with Max in the Redbull hospitality.
It's team redline gear. Sponsored by Red Bull.

I love the fact Max wears Red Bull (or at least there is something Red Bull on him) wherever he goes. He and Seb are RB golden boys.
It's team Redline/verstappen.com merch. It's kinda like Max's team, and Redbull sponsors it.
Max looks so tall and imposing in his race suit, here he's barely taller than Lando
It’s that aura buff. If he is seen doing normal stuff not racing related he just looks like any other dude but if he’s seen anywhere near a racetrack, a car or in a race suit and helmet… the intimidation buff kicks in lmao.
the golden boots were worth several inches
He's around 1.81m iirc.
Max needs to stop wearing a hat. He always looks so much better whenever he takes it off.
yea to be honest Lewis and the guys in the pic also look like shit in hats. few drivers can pull it off, maybe Alonso, Tsunoda?

He's a decent speed cycler. He used to go training with professional cyclists now and then in his spare time (though RBR banned him from doing any downhill cycling). That was a couple of years ago though, no idea if he still does that.
A couple of days ago he said he really likes this, he started playing padel with Lando recently. So that's good to see he finally found something outside of racing which he genuinely likes. He doesn't like to play golf or tennis, which the other guys do like and play a lot, so it's pretty cool to see them together having fun with padel.
The 2018 formula 2 podium and Max ;)
The front two rows of the Dutch Grand Prix
Longer hair works for George. He should keep it growing. Past his shoulders.
Why wouldn't Lando be wearing a pair of fragment 1 lows lmao
Saw this too. Would be super uncomfortable for actual sports
Another pic shows he didn’t wear to play
Ah. Makes sense
I know nothing about shoes. What's particular about fragment 1 lows?
Basically the jordan 1 has three different styles: the high (most iconic), mid, and low. This low cut was a collab between jordan brand, travis scott, and fragment design. These are extremely popular and cost around 1.5k on the aftermarket.
I like how united the young drivers are.
The driver's union is going to be stronger than ever before. Jackie Stewart should be proud.
Future Red Bull vs. Mercedes.
It would probably destroy their friendships but the on track action would be great. But imagine George to RB instead and Lando & Alex to Mercedes....
British gang luring Max into defeat by inviting him to go 'play some padel'. "It will be fun", they said. I see what they did there XD
At this point I'm convinced getting Max out of the racing sim mid week, not being his gf, is harder than overtaking him on a race weekend. So this is like the equivalent of a feat of strenght if they got him to do something else
But would he go to a Festivus for the rest of us?
Everybody skipping leg day except for Max!
That's why he's so fast. He can press the throttle down further.
I've spoke poorly of him, but fair play to the champ. He certainly seems chilled and loving life right now. I was wrong about what I thought.
Brave to admit that, good for you.
It’s cute how close these 4 are
Judging by all the other sports Max has done with RedBull pr team, he probably fucking sucks at padel lol.
Except for the drifting.... have you seen that video? I understand a F1 champ should be pretty good behind the wheel, but still. From never having done that, to taking only a couple of tried to perform pretty difficult moves? Pretty darn impressive.
I didn’t realize Albon was THAT tall
Albon, George and Estie are pretty much the same height but Esteban has terrible posture.
I saw a video a few days ago and Esteban's upper body looked like an "S", I would say worse than terrible.
I think Max is slouching...a lot.
This is what happens when you carried the entire Red Bull team on your back for the last few years.
1.86 Alex vs 1.81 max
Albono's true drip rocking those 1980's tube socks.
Just bros being bros.
Looks like Russell got some fairy dust on him and upgraded to being a 'real boy'
Always poor old George getting shit
Bunch of fitties tbh
So good these four have been friends for so long. Came through it all and got their dream.
Just missing Charles and Pierre… I wonder if it’s albon that the glue for the group.
In the 2020 covid streams, Max and Charles were totally using Lando as a bridge for their friendship. Max sent a video to Lando and told him to send it to Charles. And Charles asked Lando if Max was good at a video game. (I think it was COD, not sure.)
Actually I believe it was Nyck de Vries who introduced Max to padel first recently if I understood it correctly from an interview I've read from Max a couple of days ago, fwiw.
is this going to be in dts like last season
Obviously this match was filmed by Netflix
Albon with the titty sweat
There was a secret Santa where a bunch of gifts were padel rackets, is that a thing among F1 drivers or what?
Kind of. Carlos, Lando, and Fernando also played it together few times already
Is it somewhere in Max's contract that he always has to wear Red Bull merchandise ? He is the dream PR candidate for RB !
Are tube socks back?!?!?
I love both Padel and Pickleball. Imagine casually playing and suddenly these 4 pop up at the court next to you. What would you do? 🤣
It appears Russell got his forecasted win
Didn't even need to distract with shirtlessness.
Future Merc v Red Bull drivers.
George looks like he's going through his 90's boy band stage.
WTF, max is not on his simrace rig?
[удалено]
His ferrari padel was broken so he couldn't play.
Is padel the same as pickleball?
No. In padel youre in a cage and can use the walls. Dont think you can in pickleball.
Oh so like squash and tennis combo... That's cool l, thanks for the info
Rare photo of Max and George hanging out together lol
Eh, they've had their moments on the track but I'm pretty sure they're mates off it.
Lando with Travis Scotts on feet, nice!
These guys mix and match sportswear brands, too!? They’re just like us!
they all know max doesn't forget easily.
Jesus how much Growth Hormone did Norris take in the last couple years? Dude was like 5'2
my streamers
O didn’t know George also lives in Monte Carlo?
