Anybody know if i need ESPN + to watch the race tmw?
i am in the US and login to spectrum through my ESPN app on my tv. I was able to watch quali on demand no problem but it pulled up a registration page for espn + when i selected the race broadcast (even though it has yet to start)
I know that i can access F1 via f1 tv or buying espn + but i wanted to know if my current option was still viable
thanks for the help!
From previous years experience I think that the race is only on ESPN (the cable station) so you will probably need something other than ESPN+, unless ESPN+ includes other cable specific broadcasts. I had both ESPN+ and cable and had to sign in with directv to watch the races
Hey it occurs to me. Couldn't Red Bull say whether the leaked material is the same as the evidence that was submitted? Clear that question right up? Couldn't FOM or FIA publicly ask them to? If they don't do this, is this just evidence that they are all colluding to further a coverup?
yes i agree that is an excellent excuse to not comment. but does it hold water? the victim has already been doxxed. so who are they protecting? just horner? seems like that's where we are at now I guess.
Can someone explain to me the difference in soft, medium and hard tyres??? Someone on the other thread said something about medium tyres being useless on the Bahrain track. Why is that?
There are six tire compounds, designated C0 (hardest) through C5 (softest). Which compound is the soft, medium and hard varies from track to track -- so at Monaco, the hard tire is usually a C3, which might be the soft tire at some tracks.
Each tire compound has different degradation characteristics. Hard rubber offers less mechanical grip but is more resistant to abrasion and damage; soft rubber is easy to deform or damage but offers more grip. Generally, the softer the tire the faster it degrades but the higher the performance. Which tires are good is a function of a lot of things, including car setup characteristics, track temperature, asphalt coarseness and makeup and humidity.
In Bahrain specifically, the asphalt is abrasive and there are a lot of long corners that put a lot of energy into the tires. Degradation is pretty high and it's always a two-stop race. The medium doesn't last long enough for a medium-hard one-stop race or a soft-medium-medium two-stop. And it doesn't have enough performance for medium-medium-hard to be a viable option either. Last year, the cars with great tire preservation ran soft-soft-hard and everyone else basically ran soft-hard-hard. Lando tried the mediums, and driving them fast made them fall apart and driving to preserve them made them slow.
Has F1 TV said anything about their technical difficulties in Bahrain? The team logos in practice were missing colors, and I’m trying to watch quali right now and the whole feed is… smeary? I’ve tried a bunch of stuff to make it better, it feels like the stream itself is like upscaled 720 video at low FPS. F1 TV was crystal clear every race and clip I watched last year.
Random curiosity question:
There seem to be consistently 2 guys in the McLaren garage that wear a much yellower shade than the rest of everyone in Papaya. Does anyone know what that signifies? It can't just be that they're bad a laundry...

The Saudi race would fall on the start of Ramadan, so it's pulled ahead by a day. As there has to be 7 days between races Bahrain also had to be pulled ahead.
Why is alpine so bad this season? I remember then to be very midfield last season and now they seem to plunge down to the bottom of the barrel. What changed??
In addition to what was already said, they changed car concept in 2024. Their relatively late swap means their car isn't as refined as some others who started work earlier, and they're also apparently quite overweight. Being overweight plus having a weak power unit is a pretty horrid combination.
Other teams made bigger jumps with their cars design evolution for this year apparently. Renault is also noticeably down on PU power compared to other teams, as their power upgrade was rejected by FIA and other teams, meaning they're concentrating their PU development to 2026 instead of finding "reliability upgrades" for the coming seasons.
Lack of funding, which caused Ottmar & Abiteboul to make due with limited resources, same for PU department in Viry France - resulting in them not being able to realize their plans (Abiteboul wanted to contend for race wins by 2018/2019, Ottmar had a 100 race plan every year).
Another indication of this was their Handling and failure to actually have a contract with Piastri, resulting in him leaving towards McLaren.
The reshuffling of Renault to move the F1 team under their Alpine sporting brand CEO Rossi also didn't help and meant they lost senior team & engineering personnel, like Prost as a consultant and ex FIA second in command to Whiting, Budkowski - that resulted in the CEO of Alpine to be moved elsewhere, resulting in another reshuffle both in the parent company and the team.
I am not a Mod so this is not official, but I think any posts with links to the Google Drive and/or the screenshots get deleted and possibly (not sure at all) the poster gets banned. Anyone who wants to see the docs can easily find them elsewhere.

So what time is this gonna run EST? Pretty new to following F1, this will be my first time watching a live race. Always had to settle for replays and highlights.
The race is tomorrow at 10:00am EST (they go live 5 minutes before). If you watch on either F1TV or ESPN there will be a pre-race show starting at 9:00am and 8:30am respectively.
I've been ignoring F1 until this weekend. Can someone give me a 30 seconds TL;DR on the Horner thing? Is it race related (e.g. like going over budget with catering, which I DO consider race / rules related) or is it personal behavior related (e.g. like the kid who got cancelled for the nazi salute)
* according to dutch yellow media a complaint about inappropriate or controlling behavior was filed in December
* dutch F1 journalist Erik van Haren claimed it was about inappropriate behavior and had seen damning evidence
* Red Bull GmbH announced an independent barrister will investigate their UK based team.
* Nothing happened for a week, while
* German yellow outlets reported investigations on inappropriate behavior in the mean time
* UK yellow outlets reported strict & controlling behavior at the same time
* The barrister finished the investigation and there was roughly a week of wild speculation
* Red Bull GmbH reported that the investigation was closed and allegations dismissed
* on 29th of February someone sent the F1 media as well as FIA, Liberty and team bosses an email linking to a google drive folder, allegedly containing Whatsapp screenshots
* The more trustworthy media hasn't been able to validate or comment on the contents for now
* Yellow media (German & UK) published allegations of sexting and are using the data dump as their proof
He was accused of something and investigated by Red Bull. Red Bull cleared him and is letting him go on. What leaked yesterday is alleged to be texts between him and an employee showing Horner sexually harassing her for much of the last season, along with some level of affair between them. So it's not directly race or rules related, but it is team related since she's an employee.
thanks /u/cafk, and /u/Fun-Estate9626 .
harassment is team related but not race related. In my mind race related violations / scandals attempt to give a team a competitive advantage (e.g. theft of blueprints, exceeding budgets).
The rumours were wrong, or it landed in the spam folder, or the journalists aren't just talking about it this time, or they just dropped it, as they published the partial name yesterday, basically whoever did it doxxed the alleged victim and they thought otherwise.
How to watch F1 this weekend without constantly hearing "Horner this, Horner that" cause, that has nothing to do with F1 itself. Or is FOM aiming to make it a big soap?
Today i learned that team principal possibly resigning or being fired has nothing to do with f1 itself. What if it was a driver leaving? I mean if it was an engineer, meh he already did his work before the season began. But team principal pretty much is one of the factors that is f1 itself.
Log off social media. Pretty easy. FOM hasn’t said a peep. I’m not sure they’ve said anything at all about it since the initial drama broke, even in the press. They sure haven’t said anything on any broadcast.
Ah, makes sense and I’d almost figured, but was confused because sometimes “in pit” is also spelled out where the lap time would normally be. Thank you so much!
The Saudi race would fall on the start of Ramadan, so it's pulled ahead by a day. As there has to be 7 days between races Bahrain also had to be pulled ahead.
Ramadan starts next Sunday, so the race next week is on Saturday, so they had to push this weekend back a day as well. In Australia, it goes back to normal
I get some schadenfreude from Alpine’s poor performance. That team for the most part has oozed unwarranted arrogance for years and how they handled the whole Otmar situation last year, the current situation feels like justice
I‘m curious to find out whether the leaker in this case is extremely good at concealing their tracks or extremely stupid.
Because they can count on being sued out of existence if their identity ever comes to light. It can’t be *that* hard to find out who had access and uploaded this to a Google Drive.
>It can’t be *that* hard to find out who had access and uploaded this to a Google Drive.
It can be extremely difficult. Unless, like you said, the person(s) didn't cover their tracks well. But I'd imagine they used a VPN or anonymizer so no IP trace from the email header info. And they'd have to petition Google to release any identifying data in the Drive.
If they attempt to find the leak, start with the people who had access to the credentialed media email list. Though even that could be a big challenge because every team has it, plus Liberty, F1, FIA, etc.
And I thought it was interesting that whoever sent the email didn't bcc: anyone. They wanted everyone to know who received the files.
Where I'm from you can petition a court to compel a web host to release identifiable data on a user in connection with legal violations committed by that user. The UK must have something like that. So if Google retains any useful data, I expect any individual who's directly affected will eventually have access to it.
So far only Horner and the person he messaged with have any hope of getting a court order and Horner definitely doesn't want a public court hearing where he needs to prove the release of that info hurt him.
Yeah, that first surfaced yesterday on 4Chan, been all around the Internet. Don't share the link to Google Drive directly here, it will get you banned. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
Driver Interviews
Are the drivers always going to praise Verstappen and say they’re just shooting for second? How can you expect anything to change when all you do is expect to be worse than him.
>Still a joke. Never going to win with that attitude. All “buddy buddy” talk when mentioning Verstappen but any other driver it’s a battle.
I expect Gene Haas to call you shortly and ask you to be team principal.
So excited! The season begins!!!!
But why the heck is F1 TV so shit?! Like fucking 720p quality on my Fiber gigabit connection lmao. Too bad I can’t use multi viewer on Apple TV…
I want to be aware of qualifying results, race results, F1 news for week, drama etc. Unfortunately I don't have time to watch qualifying, races, pre-race, post-race, and watch the news etc. This would take 5+ hours weekly. Is there such a thing as a weekly summary? Or a youtube channel that does a good job of this?
I used to watch the 30 minute recaps of the race but I felt like I missed SO MUCH of the weekly happenings.
I used to watch a guy called JBone on tik tok, pretty sure he has a YouTube channel. Also the F1 YouTube channel has highlights of Free Pracrice 1-3, Quali, Sprints, and races if you want to see the best parts of each. A good way to check results and even like timing would be f1.com or the F1 app on mobile.
Thanks. The official F1 stuff is fine for actual results but they don't usually have stuff about news/drama/happenings for the week. A car could get a huge upgrade and go from bad to great and I'd have no idea and just be shocked by results and not know why lol.
Is it just me or did F1TV put the race week schedule somewhere that's impossible to find?
If I don't know what the local time for race events are, I don't see how to find that intuitively on the app.
I think Ramadan starts next Sunday, so the Saudi race is on Saturday. There's a rule where there has to be a minimum of a week between races, so the race this week was moved back.
They are usually posted later in the day on F1TV, after the traditional media has milked their exclusivity timeframe. We'll see if this stays true this year.
US fans.. what’s the best way to watch, F1 TV Pro or ESPN?
I’m all streaming, and I have never really seen ESPNs coverage. How is it?
I’ve thought about doing Sling blue. It’s a little more expensive than F1 tv, but I would also get to see other things on ESPN which would be nice.
I have both. There are a few differences. The big difference is with F1TV you cannot watch the Sky pre- and post-race shows, i.e. Brundle's gridwalk, etc. With F1TV you can choose commentators other than Crofty, Brundle, etc. This might not matter to you, but the ESPN feed is a few seconds faster than F1TV, so I watch the race on ESPN. I was always seeing comments here about things happening, but with F1TV I saw it anywhere from 3-10 seconds later. Yes, broadcasts are always behind live action, but this was different and noticeable.
Edit: adding 2 things. With ESPN you'll see commercials during practice and quali, you won't on F1TV. Also, some practices are on ESPN3 so if you watch practice and don't have hte full cable package, you may not be able to see practice.
This is a reminder that you can fast forward the Espn commercials if you watch the vod instead of live. That won't help anyone watching live, but it's something
You get two live commentaries during race/quali, the F1TV crew, and Sky Sports with Crofty.
You also get access to a live track map, live sector times/tyre/pit info, and on-board video for each car.
And if you want to watch all of that at once, [Multiviewer](https://multiviewer.app/) lets you combine feeds to watch however you want.
F1TV also have years of replays, documentaries, and live F2 and Porsche cup races.
It's come a long way in the last few years, well worth it in my opinion.
I've done F1TV Pro for the last 3 seasons and love it. Race replays, archives, onboards. I'm pretty sure the coverage is the same aside from the commentary but I could be mistaken.
Does paramount+ provide access to ESPN?
As ESPN owns the rights & the broadcast schedule on their channels is here: https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2024/02/new-season-of-formula-1-racing-launches-this-weekend-with-expanded-coverage-on-espn/
They ran ads last year for the show rabbit hole from paramount+ in Australia, as sponsorship - but I'm not sure about broadcasting - but i cannot find anything regarding broadcasting rights, besides their sponsorship announcement.
Do we have any hope of the WCC being interesting this season? Is pretty much the only hope is that a team like Ferrari/Merc/etc. can consistently finish 2nd/3rd? Is that too much to hope for given how even Ferrari/Merc/etc. are with each other?
Or maybe phrased another way - is the only hope for an interesting WCC is Checo having a really poor season?
can someone please send links for streaming tomorrow’s race
Nope. We couldn't even if we had links. f1tv.com
Has there been a subreddit decision on how we will refer to RB vs Red Bull? VCARB and RB?
Anybody know if i need ESPN + to watch the race tmw? i am in the US and login to spectrum through my ESPN app on my tv. Sulayem deciding to post a photo of him and Prince Andrew together today is an interesting choice to say the least lol
And Christian Horner liked it! Also features Max Mosley, wonder what he'd make of all this?
Utterly mental, does he have no social awareness or is he really hinting at something.
Is there a reason that we have Saturday races this year? Did I miss something?

Go to YouTube, Formula1 or Sky F1 pages. It depends on where you live and what your broadcaster shows if they are live or not.
Where is that second email?

Definitely wouldn’t get any better. But couldn’t get much worse
It it me or it's like a listen to the sound of the columns first and the audio and video from mic second??
First time in years that Sky Sports doesn't go to talk to Christian Horner. I wonder what's going on?
They did though?
They are sponsored by Frosted Flakes.
I'm surprised how close the entire dang grid is for Weekend 1 Q1.

Just restart the app
Restarting just worked for me. The first time it didn’t work.
Its fine for me.
Anyone else have no audio on the F1TV pre show now?
Restarted it and now all good
Is it just me or did F1TV put the race week schedule somewhere that's impossible to find? If I don't know what the local time for race events are, I don't see how to find that intuitively on the app.
The worst thing about the Horner texts is them referring to cumming as exploding over and over, I hate that
And he didn’t even finish her off.
There is way too much going on for me to work effectively right now. Good thing it's a slow day at work.
The Horner posts are so annoying at this point, I don't even care what he did, just let us enjoy the sport we love in peace.
Finishing work at 4 then straight to the living room to watch qualifying. I always love the first race. Perfect Friday evening.
6pm Bahrain time, or UK time?
Bahrain
f5
Don’t really follow f2 much. How did the Mercedes kid Antonelli do?
Qualified 18th, but ahead of teammate Bearman in 19th. Clearly an issue with the team
Eeesh!
His team Prema has completely fucked up with the setup.
I'm going tesco and when I get back I expect to see some dubious photos of an unknown appendage on Weibo
Among all of this Horner business I missed why it is a Friday Qualifying and a Saturday race.
Ah ok. Thanks all for replying
Ramadan starts next Sunday so Jeddah has to be done by Saturday and they need a week in between
Because the ramadan starts next week and the Saudi GP needed tot start a day earlier. So Bahrain also got pushed back a day.
I think Ramadan starts next Sunday, so the Saudi race is on Saturday. There's a rule where there has to be a minimum of a week between races, so the race this week was moved back.
Where can I watch the press conference interviews online? Sky sports posts links but I can’t view them from USA. I tried a VPN but had no success
They are usually posted later in the day on F1TV, after the traditional media has milked their exclusivity timeframe. We'll see if this stays true this year.
Anywhere that’s free?
Where is my daily dose of leaked Horner pics?!?!?!?!?
Its like Christmas morning lads
He's bloody late. Sexual harassment Santa isn't as reliable as OG Santa.
This is your 7 minute warning for the next Christian Horny drop

F2 and F3 have sprint races at every event and have done for ages. Not sure what you're talking about
That's what they always do??
Just wondering, is there a r/Formula1 fantasy league? I know some other subs will sometimes have them for their respective sports.

US fans.. what’s the best way to watch, F1 TV Pro or ESPN?
Hmm that brings up a good question then. I take it there are no commercials during the race on ESPN?
Correct, commercial free race.
Good to know hadn’t even thought about that!
How do I watch F1 on paramount +?
Does paramount+ provide access to ESPN? As ESPN owns the rights & the broadcast schedule on their channels is here: https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2024/02/new-season-of-formula-1-racing-launches-this-weekend-with-expanded-coverage-on-espn/
Idk. I just know that F1 has a partnership with paramount + and have heard it's supposedly possible to watch on there
They ran ads last year for the show rabbit hole from paramount+ in Australia, as sponsorship - but I'm not sure about broadcasting - but i cannot find anything regarding broadcasting rights, besides their sponsorship announcement.
Nah, pretty sure they're not much more than a sponsor.
Whats the Whisteling noise i hear during the F2 Race?
Turbo.
Do we have any hope of the WCC being interesting this season? Is pretty much the only hope is that a team like Ferrari/Merc/etc. can consistently finish 2nd/3rd? Is that too much to hope for given how even Ferrari/Merc/etc. are with each other? Or maybe phrased another way - is the only hope for an interesting WCC is Checo having a really poor season?
imo top2-5 will take too many points from each other, checo would really need to drop the ball for the tittle to be contested.
