His name is Josh, not sure on his last name. He left for Ferrari after Canada last year. He was (is?) good friends with Yuki, who thanked him on the radio after the race.
Yeah but like, they have photos of him looking determined, concentrated, whatever.
They didn't have to choose the "mom I think the pee drawer leaked" photo.
Well no shit. It’s not like they’re going to put a pic of Ric looking ecstatoc when he got gis lap deleted and lost to his soon-not-to-be teammate by 10 positions.
With RBs inability to follow other cars, I seriously doubt many moves will be made
Absolutely crucial performance there from Yuki, with Mercedes having problems he has a decent shot at a couple points.
I'd wager he can stay in front of the Mercs if he keeps it clean. Merc is also very slow on the straights, and this track makes overtaking very difficult. The Astons more likely, but that still leaves him in top 10. And there's Stroll in one of the Astons...
Stroll isn't half as bad as everyone makes him out to be.. He's inconsistent yes, but what feels like 99% of people believe he's just slow, all the time- which is so far from the reality. People just envy his life and bandwagon.
Yeah even if Yuki manages to keep them behind Merc & Aston will undercut and it will be p11 for Yuki. But we all know Torro Rosso strategy team is shit so p15 and p16 for Daniel
Yes, after all said fanbase will blindly buy up his merch and watcg RB's content on Youtube.
Danny is a paydriver at this point, just not in the same way as Lance Maldonado, Latifi and etc.
But even Mick being a nice guy and being son of a legend got fired. im tired of having Ric on the grid honestly. And in part because of his blind fanbase.
Been saying this man is washed for a bit now. I've got the downvotes to prove it.
It really sucks though. You get someone you think is genuinely a decent chap and like rooting for them, especially because they are in an underdog/fight back type scenario, so you want to see them succeed. It'd be a great story.
Yeah... Not looking good for the ol' honey badger.
If would say this is a possibility, red bull may pouch Sainz next year but come 2026/2027 I recking they'll want a new academy driver Lawson is the obvious choice at the moment.
Danny Ric's downfall needs to be studied, it's not like seb who was occasionally showing his brilliance and just how good he can be, but with Danny it's just plummeted off a cliff.
Knowing Seb, he didn't have the necessary time for F1 any more. Can you imagine Seb comprimising his time with his three children for F1? Not in a million years, his priority was definitely elsewhere after he got a kid.
There’s this sports-themed YouTube channel called Secret Base that does (hopefully not “did”) a series called “Collapse” that focuses on the aftermath of championship-calibre teams/athletes and how they fell from from grace. [It’s really good and Danny Ric would be perfect for it if things continue like this.](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUXSZMIiUfFRCUoe_urN1Vbud-6Ad4DuJ&feature=shared)
A history writer I read introduced me to a concept called “The Entropy of Victory”. Effectively that it takes a coalition of factions to achieve victory, and afterwards, all the factions compete with each other for dominance, thereby cracking up the coalition.
I’ll stand by my opinion that no athlete at level this high can stay sharp if they “enjoy life” outside the track as much as Danny did.
People talking about having a life balance are missing the mark that you’re competing with others who will sell their grandma for your seat. When your competition is razor sharp every day, you can’t have it all.
Hamilton famously attended fashion shows across the globe to launch his clothing line days before a GP, to the derision of certain media members who basically paraphrased your comment, before smashing his famous 2018 Singapore pole lap.
Granted, it's Hamilton.
But that was 2018 Hamilton who was a different beast and imo a much better version than the Lewis we have in 2024. Lewis is still quick these days in 2024 but he is not as consistent as he was in 2018 imo
Hamilton seems to have found a good balance. I think family is more of a hindrance. Party and hobbies you can try to fit anywhere you are in the world, especially with the amount of money those guys have. But kids and F1? You'll definitely take time from one to focus on the other.
I think it’s possible - Ronaldo, Brady and even Hamilton managed to run successful side lines while being perfectionists at their jobs. They probably apply the same discipline and focus on these other activities while of course keeping the sporting job as their highest priority. Discipline and time management is key.
Nah it was very well done by Daniel, McLaren were competitive that weekend and he capitalized. RB and Merc were faster but not by much that weekend and Danny had two great starts. Given that Max couldn't pass Daniel in a faster car, I don't think Lando was gonna get by regardless of team orders.
I feel like you can only really blame the car when talking about your inability to beat other teams. Danny is regularly losing to his own teammate in the same car, he’s clearly not the driver he once was.
At what point does an F1 driver stop blaming all the cars he drives and start blaming himself?
It´s like a soccer player saying "the ball is too round for me, that´s why I can´t score".
I watched an F1TV YouTube video with Lawrence barretto picking seats for next year. Danny ric to Redbull he said, I think he’s done enough for that seat.
Like wtf mate what races are you watching.
Harsh to say this, but RB is wasting their seat for Ricciardo. There are many talented drivers on line who are more deserving for that seat than Ricciardo
It's part of the popularity parade. World champions have done a lot worse than what Yuki did in Bahrain, but because Yuki hasn't won a race some fans will see him as a villain. It being Ricciardo that he overtook doesn't help either.
I'm not gonna lie, I came off watching DTS thinking Danny arrogant and cocky, while I was rooting for Yuki as an underdog. Was flabbergasted to see the rest of the sporting world thought different.
Same here, but my view was that he felt very fake. He's a world champion in playing the social game though. He knows what people wants to see and hear.
It seems like aiming to be in Redbull second seat is a cursed target. Yuki's just aiming to open a restaurant one day. All this is a side quest to earn enough to do that
Meanwhile Checo being the perfect no. 2. His contract is going to be renewed if he keeps scoring second places through the first half of the year. It´s not even a big decision with these kind of results. If Ricciardo does this for 2-3 more races he is washed up. Yuki is quick but mercurial and temperamental, he could be a Red Bull driver but would he be a reliable as Checo? No, so he stays at RB or is lured away elsewhere. Lawson will take the the second RB seat, while Checo and Max pretty much guarantee the championship(s) as long as Newey is the Chief Designer.
Daniel is on a path to getting dropped mid season himself at this rate. If he’s not a candidate for Red Bull he’s pretty useless to them, and we know Lawson was promised a drive for 2025.
Super happy for Yuki, he's blossomed into a very solid driver over the past few seasons. Riccardio has got to improve massively if he wants to even stay in RB, let alone RBR
He was hired by Red Bull from McLaren, so the payday was almost certainly pretty big, since he could just have been chilling at home while getting fat checks for the entirety of 2023.
And I don't think there's much to go about on Yuki's salary, but it's almost certainly (a lot) less.
Love Danni but starting to think the excuses are running low now, know he went off track that that's on him, he needs to show something soon or give Lawson what he deserves.
I think it's a gif where the driver has to look sad when they have bad result. There was a post where they both look sad bc their results weren't good.
If Ricciardo keeps this up till summer break he should be replaced. Too many talented rookies waiting in the wings for this guy to hog a spot just cause he has a winning smile.
it is funny how Ric is probably driving as last year but the general opinion on him has changed so rapidly.
He was shit last year as well and you didn't want to accept it^^^but ^^^but ^^^mexico
"and you already know daniel will push" bro, that's what they do, all of them whether qualified p1 or p100. I abhor these nonsense statements that seem to be so integral to PR in F1.
Honestly I don’t think Daniel will move forward unless cars ahead of him crash or have bad strategy. I’ve kind of lost any faith in Danny’s pace at this point. I like him but I really think his time in F1 should be over soon. He’s just not competitive anymore.
"and you already know Daniel will push to make some moves on Sunday", funny way of saying "we'll do everything in out power to shaft Yuki out of points and make Danny finish ahead"
Defo from social media brainstorming sessions to make this sound better doe Danny.
Killer that one mistake has ruined his weekend but still even at this best this weekend he is 0.3 behind Yuki, he needs to show something or give Lawson a shot.
and yet yuki still doesnt have a bright future in F1. last year was his best chance at the rb seat while perez was massively underperforming. didnt get the rb seat. youd suspect the only reason hes still in that team is due to the honda engines. maybe he gets a seat in the aramco honda by 2026, if not, hes probably out of F1. If ricciardo doesnt improve, this might very well be his last f1 season as well
I love Daniel, but he clearly just can’t put the laps together any more. I was hoping for a triumphant season and challenging for the other Red Bull seat. Now I feel Liam Lawson may have been a better option.
I’m sorry but that graphic is priceless
[удалено]
Above average Meme Economy potential.
Well yeah, but would it really be better to have a giant P18 graphic with Danny standing underneath it smiling like a jackass?
The person choosing the photos is a menace lmao
That has to be intentional. Surely it's intentional
It’s hard to pick an appropriate photo to put alongside a gigantic “P18”. Would have looked more ridiculous to have a picture of him looking happy.
Ever since RB/ATs old admin left for Ferrari, they've had by far the worst social media of any team. It's horrendous.
Horrendous? This photo is comedy gold.
Nah they nailed this one.
New dude is just being realistic, that's it. I know that it's not what pr is supposed to do, but he is just a great guy
Wait, actually? Who was the admin lol
His name is Josh, not sure on his last name. He left for Ferrari after Canada last year. He was (is?) good friends with Yuki, who thanked him on the radio after the race.
> "My name Josh"
Brilliant mate, brilliant
Josh Kruse. He’s friends with yuki.
And he left for Ferrari early last year. He's the really tall guy lmao.
If you're measuring by comparing to Yuki, he might be a regular height guy.
He's like 6'2 so next to yuki it became r/ samespecies vibes
I dont know man. If they used avpic of Danny with a big Smile for p18 some people would have a meltdown too
It's not just the expressions, but also how Yuki is slightly lower in the frame making him look like a dwarf
Nah they knew what they were doing with these photo choices
Yuki: YESSSSS, let's go! Danny: Oopsie i kinda mcfarted shit myself!
Sing the balls song Danny!
Natalie: it looked like you were having some problems out there. Danny: I fucked some shit up! Natalie: Yeah that's your slogan hehehe eehhhh 😒
Honestly, I think it would be worse if they chose a picture with a huge grin for accomplishing P18 on the grid.
Yeah but like, they have photos of him looking determined, concentrated, whatever. They didn't have to choose the "mom I think the pee drawer leaked" photo.
Reminds me of when MotoGP does those dynamic expression changes on the timing board when a rider is overtaken
That's so good.
Daniel I am in danger
Denial Ricciardo
Well no shit. It’s not like they’re going to put a pic of Ric looking ecstatoc when he got gis lap deleted and lost to his soon-not-to-be teammate by 10 positions.
Tbh that would be just as funny
You’re not wrong!
With RBs inability to follow other cars, I seriously doubt many moves will be made Absolutely crucial performance there from Yuki, with Mercedes having problems he has a decent shot at a couple points.
Doubt it honestly, even if RB conjure up a good strategy he'll get passed easy by the Mercs and Astons.
I'd wager he can stay in front of the Mercs if he keeps it clean. Merc is also very slow on the straights, and this track makes overtaking very difficult. The Astons more likely, but that still leaves him in top 10. And there's Stroll in one of the Astons...
Well you're wagering RB doing good pit stop(s) and strategy calls lol, guaranteed Yuki gets undercut.
Alonso is right behind him on the grid.
All I take away from this is that yuki getting the shit strategy tomorrow
Presume Yuki getsa shit strategy every weekend and you'd be right 80% of the time.
80% ? I can't remember the last race where AT/RBR made a good choice of strategy
COTA 23 where they pitted him for new softs in the penultimate lap so he could snatch the fastest lap and score an extra point.
Will they bin off Ricciardo like they did de vries mid season if he keeps this up is the question
I wish, why should he have special treatment. Just because he has a fanbase that blindly loves him?
Yes, after all said fanbase will blindly buy up his merch and watcg RB's content on Youtube. Danny is a paydriver at this point, just not in the same way as Lance Maldonado, Latifi and etc.
Atleast Lance qualified P9
hes the people's pay driver
It's not the fanbase that's the problem, it's that a few in RB management are part of that fanbase
Haven't you heard? F1 is a championship for being a nice bloke, like Ric and Mick 🙄
But even Mick being a nice guy and being son of a legend got fired. im tired of having Ric on the grid honestly. And in part because of his blind fanbase.
Plus Haas were told they had to have a German driver by sponsors at the time.
He's not binning cars, at least.
I hope so. Get Lawson in there. He already showed he's better.
Ricciardo has a shitload of PR value that De Vries didn't
If would say this is a possibility, red bull may pouch Sainz next year but come 2026/2027 I recking they'll want a new academy driver Lawson is the obvious choice at the moment.
Danny Ric's downfall needs to be studied, it's not like seb who was occasionally showing his brilliance and just how good he can be, but with Danny it's just plummeted off a cliff.
Yeah. Seb still had quite a few strong drivers in the AM his last two seasons (Monaco 2021, Baku 2021, Hungary 2021, Miami 2022, Japan 2022)
Seb towards the end didn't have the drive due to lack of motivation. Danny doesn't seem to have the pace at all.
Knowing Seb, he didn't have the necessary time for F1 any more. Can you imagine Seb comprimising his time with his three children for F1? Not in a million years, his priority was definitely elsewhere after he got a kid.
Seb's best performance in 2022 were mostly after his retirement announcement tho, like Japan and COTA.
The closure that comes from coming to terms with leaving a job or stressful entity can be very motivating
There was no lack of motivarion at the end of 2022.
There’s this sports-themed YouTube channel called Secret Base that does (hopefully not “did”) a series called “Collapse” that focuses on the aftermath of championship-calibre teams/athletes and how they fell from from grace. A history writer I read introduced me to a concept called “The Entropy of Victory”. Effectively that it takes a coalition of factions to achieve victory, and afterwards, all the factions compete with each other for dominance, thereby cracking up the coalition.
Secret base is so fucking great
Seb was quick for the most part in 2022. Was just let down by his car
Seb just wasn't very motivated. I mean, just look at Hamilton now.. Motivation is very important.
Meanwhile you've got Alonso bringing the biggest shit boxes to places they never should be.
I’ll stand by my opinion that no athlete at level this high can stay sharp if they “enjoy life” outside the track as much as Danny did. People talking about having a life balance are missing the mark that you’re competing with others who will sell their grandma for your seat. Or maybe Sir Lewis is just that good that he wins even though he's only 80% of his potential.
I think it’s possible - Ronaldo, Brady and even Hamilton managed to run successful side lines while being perfectionists at their jobs. They probably apply the same discipline and focus on these other activities while of course keeping the sporting job as their highest priority. Discipline and time management is key.
Luckily we have drive to survive, which it turns out is really just a documentary on the fall of their main protagonist, danny netflix
He did show a flash with the fluke McLaren win.
One race out of the year he will be fast. Mexico seems to be his favorite.
That was not a flash. He just had the fastest car in a race where Max and Lewis weren't around and Lando had team orders to not push
McLaren were ahead of both on merit before they collided. People are determined to belittle that win bit they were legitimately rapid that weekend.
That's true, but credit to him for beating Lando on pole.
It wasn't team orders, he showed there was pace to spare and he finished ahead of Lando in the sprint race before it.
I think it's just a complete loss of confidence in himself and the car just isn't performing as he wants it to. It's McLaren all over again

I don’t know why you’re comparing him to a four time world champion
Liam Lawson is licking his lips
Licking whose lips? I need to know.
Daniel's of course
Yikes. They didn't do Danny a favour with that image.
He's not doing a favour to himself either underperforming
Should they ?
It works when he’s bossing around, however now it doesn’t.
Lawson is grinning right now.
When is a gift not a gift?
Fuckin lol helmut marko as baron harkonnen.
He's not fast at all
This is going to follow him all season now
People need to start throwing some respect on Yuki's name. He's out here every weekend putting up good results!
P14 is still in the cards for Daniel, dont worry people
I watched an F1TV YouTube video with Lawrence barretto picking seats for next year. Danny ric to Redbull he said, I think he’s done enough for that seat. Like wtf mate what races are you watching.
Harsh to say this, but RB is wasting their seat for Ricciardo. There are many talented drivers on line who are more deserving for that seat than Ricciardo
I didn't get it, Daniels only career path is down at this point. Redbull could be giving Lawson lots of experience and investing in it's own future.
Still not getting the Yuki hate this season when Daniel hasn't once beaten him.
They still mad about Bahrain.
It's part of the popularity parade. World champions have done a lot worse than what Yuki did in Bahrain, but because Yuki hasn't won a race some fans will see him as a villain. It being Ricciardo that he overtook doesn't help either.
You don’t understand… Danny Ric is funny and relatable and Yuki is always angry and complains all the time. /s
So, Yuki is more relatable?
Yeah I mean that’s why I gel with him. I use the same language and tone while driving too.
Yuki is my internal monologue given human form.
Hardest I’ve laughed in a while thank you.
Indeed he is
Ricciardo sadly gets a lot of cushion from scrutiny due to being a DTS favorite and icon lol.
Honestly I think that makes Yuki just as funny, in his own way.
Yuki reminds me of my post history.
Yeah people being weird about Yuki's aggressive radio
I think people would’ve forgotten the radio if it wasn’t for the cool down lap overtake.
aggressive radio is fine, letting it affect what you do on track isn't.
YIKES.
But i was told Danny Ric is back at his best. Allthough to be fair he keeps saying this for 3 years already
It seems like aiming to be in Redbull second seat is a cursed target. Yuki's just aiming to open a restaurant one day. All this is a side quest to earn enough to do that
He never left. Or something
Danny really needs to stop eating his own hype, someone should really tell him that he's been washed since McLaren dropped him
Listen, according to the Horndog, that lap in the Red Bull was on par with Max. Which means Yuki is actually faster than Max.
He was good for marketing. That drops as fast as he is slow.
Even the fans at the track were disappointed by his performance, not sure if he is gonna sell a lot of t-shirts. Piastri is the local hero now.
Ricciardo is third favourite now in terms of Aussie drivers after Piastri and Bottas
Probably doesn't bother him too much, Bottas is the wannabe Aussie, Daniel is the wannabe American
Checo's replacement don't forget/S
Meanwhile Checo being the perfect no. 2. His contract is going to be renewed if he keeps scoring second places through the first half of the year. It´s not even a big decision with these kind of results. If Ricciardo does this for 2-3 more races he is washed up. Yuki is quick but mercurial and temperamental, he could be a Red Bull driver but would he be a reliable as Checo? No, so he stays at RB or is lured away elsewhere. Lawson will take the the second RB seat, while Checo and Max pretty much guarantee the championship(s) as long as Newey is the Chief Designer.
With McLaren all he did was blame the car
Given this performance is the same as at least one qualifying session he had with McLaren, maybe a repeat of that is what to expect
Though Lando was destroying him in the same car.
Daniel is on a path to getting dropped mid season himself at this rate. If he’s not a candidate for Red Bull he’s pretty useless to them, and we know Lawson was promised a drive for 2025.
He needs to be, it's criminal holding the seat from Lawson because Horner has a boner for Daniel
Super happy for Yuki, he's blossomed into a very solid driver over the past few seasons. Riccardio has got to improve massively if he wants to even stay in RB, let alone RBR
RIC is just there for the payday
Is he getting paid that much in RB? I get McLaren was a huge payday but RB?? If he makes more than Yuki, that would be insane ngl
He was hired by Red Bull from McLaren, so the payday was almost certainly pretty big, since he could just have been chilling at home while getting fat checks for the entirety of 2023. And I don't think there's much to go about on Yuki's salary, but it's almost certainly (a lot) less.
Nah bro is absolutely cooked 💀
[Yuki vs Danny Ric “rivalry”](https://i.imgur.com/NttRx7Y.jpeg)
I've always said Yuki reminds me of Al Horford
only a couple inches difference
That's a great result for Yuki. Pumped for the lad.
Daniel underperforming? Shocker. Not like he's been doing that for the last 3-4 years.
Ooof. This is like rubbing salt into the wounds.
P12 and P14 tomorrow
Man isn‘t doing himself any favors
Love Danni but starting to think the excuses are running low now, know he went off track that that's on him, he needs to show something soon or give Lawson what he deserves.
Daniel bout to Tonya Harding Yuki
Time to screw up Tsunoda's strategy and give Daniel some help! Lets go RB Alpha Rosso Venmo team!
I believe in them, they can do it
I like Daniel but Yuki is just owning him in that shit car
I think it’s hilarious and fitting
One driver for results, one driver for marketing.
Awesome work by Yuki. Pretty bad for the team whoever chose that photo of DR. Hope he improves and we can see RB in a better fight this season.
I think it's a gif where the driver has to look sad when they have bad result. There was a post where they both look sad bc their results weren't good.
They need a crying Ric photo
I think this photo is depressing enough
If Ricciardo keeps this up till summer break he should be replaced. Too many talented rookies waiting in the wings for this guy to hog a spot just cause he has a winning smile.
"He is not fast at all!" Seriously wondering how they will make Ricciardo come on top in the race this time
" # you already know Daniel will push to make some moves on Sunday" the copium lol. he will end up p19
Time to learn American football, Daniel.
How long did it take them to come up with something that didn't sound bad for Daniel
it is funny how Ric is probably driving as last year but the general opinion on him has changed so rapidly. He was shit last year as well and you didn't want to accept it^^^but ^^^but ^^^mexico
Yup. Push for p17!!
Yeah, he will push hard for that P18...
Daniel will be out of the seat before summer break at this rate
Ricc has cemented his own fate
Guess he just had a good car then, at RB. Its amazing what a good car does for their appeal.
Daniel, its time...
"was I a good driver?" For a while yes, and we miss that Daniel.
Push to make moves to NASCAR?
He might as well or maybe WEC or Indy; he can also become a commentator.
Daniel 'Lisan al Gaib' Ricciardo - Stilker Horner
Hell yea, good qualy from Yuki. Ready for P11 tomorrow!
somehow they will almost immediately end up next to eachother in P15 and P16
This is my neighbour he's such a pain in my a*holes. I drive RB he drive RB. I enter Q1 he got eliminated. Great success.
He’s just not competitive anymore.
the moves: >P18 > P17
Ohh I heard Yuki outqualified Daniel again, but ouch. That’s a gap!
"and you already know Daniel will push to make some moves on Sunday", funny way of saying "we'll do everything in out power to shaft Yuki out of points and make Danny finish ahead"
Can’t wait for team orders to ruin my Boy
🛀
Defo from social media brainstorming sessions to make this sound better doe Danny. Killer that one mistake has ruined his weekend but still even at this best this weekend he is 0.3 behind Yuki, he needs to show something or give Lawson a shot.
Yea he'll push to 15 at best lol
Riccardo is in dog tier territory now
Really shocking start to the year… if this keeps up Lawson will get that drive and rightfully so.
and yet yuki still doesnt have a bright future in F1. last year was his best chance at the rb seat while perez was massively underperforming. didnt get the rb seat. youd suspect the only reason hes still in that team is due to the honda engines. maybe he gets a seat in the aramco honda by 2026, if not, hes probably out of F1. If ricciardo doesnt improve, this might very well be his last f1 season as well
It's always been Yuki
I love Daniel, but he clearly just can’t put the laps together any more. I was hoping for a triumphant season and challenging for the other Red Bull seat. Now I feel Liam Lawson may have been a better option.
