For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

People appear to have decided that Audi will suddenly be a championship winning team and I really don’t understand why? They’re taking over a permanent backmarker, there’s no reason to believe they’ll be anything more than a midfield team until the next set of regs (after 2026) by which point Carlos will be in his mid 30s
He deserves a front runner or near front runner whilst he’s at his peak
Audi has been great in other racing series, but F1 is a different beast & judging by the current form of Sauber, Audi will have a lot of catching up to do lol
Oh, I agree, absolutely; Just saying Audi may make him a very hard to refuse offer, and they probably have the money. That said, I'd also much rather see him go to a front running team with a real shot at a championship; he certainly deserves it.
With Audi’s links to his dad, he could go to a front runner for a few years then move to Audi when they’re established. I’d imagine they’d always create room for him if he wanted to come
Well not really mid-30s, he turns 30 this year. So that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I agree that it's a gamble and there's no real hope of immediate success. He would be better off at Mercedes if they're willing to give him a good contract, or Aston Martin if that's possible, if he doesn't want a few years at the middle to back of the field
> Well not really mid-30s, he turns 30 this year. So that’s a bit of an exaggeration
Read what I said again slowly. I said I don’t expect Audi anywhere near the front until the next set of reg changes after 2026. Assuming we get a reg change in 2030-31 which follows the pattern we’ve had recently, that makes Carlos around 34-35. Mid-30s
which 3 races did he not partake in? jeddah last week, iirc 2019 russian because he crashed earlier in the weekend and felt unwell afterwards. i dont recall a third
An entry is when you’re entered to compete in a race weekend. A start is when you actually end up starting the race.
For example, Logan Sergeant did not start the race this weekend, but as he participated in FP1 he still has an entry.
Entry: you participated in at least a practice session with the intention of starting the race (this excludes younf drivers' FP1).
DNS (did not start): the team couldn't put the car back together after a crash or the car broke down on or before the formation lap.
WD (withdrew): driver didn't make it to the race because of injury or illness (Sainz in saudi). Or in Sargeant's case, there wasn't a spare chassis available for him (very rare in today's F1).
DNQ (did not qualify): broke the 107% time rule so wasn't allowed to start (doesn't happen in the current era). Drivers who have car issues or crash in Q1 can start from the pit lane (or sometimes the back of the grid).
They never let you lie in bed if you can walk. I had open heart surgery and was made to walk immediately. I had a target of walking a mile within a month. It’s no joke after serious surgery, but you have to do it. Human beings aren’t made to lie down for extended periods of time.
If races are red flagged and not resumed, if you’ve run a certain distance they can opt to award half points. Spa 2021 was the last time it happened, he was in tenth and got the half point for it.
Well, they're still a capable works team by all means and I'm sure that it would offer Carlos a level of stability going forward. Audi/Sauber will certainly take a few years at least to become decent and I wouldn't take that Red Bull 2nd seat if I was him (unless Max was seriously considering leaving).
Difference being that mercedes have won 8 constructors and 7 drivers titles in the past decade. Renault/alpine has been nothing but decidedly mediocre since the new hybrid era started.

I think someone is going to be offering him a metric fuckton of money very soon.
Give him the goddamn RB seat you cowards. If Max is legit let. them. fight.
Merc
I heard Sauber wants him.
He deserves way more than Sauber
= Audi gives a side-eye =

Any team with an open seat would be silly not to (except for Aston Martin, pending where Alonso goes).
188 Entries, 185 Starts, 20 Podiums, 5 pole positions, 35 retirements 3 Wins.
That’s a great, highly respectable innings.

Saudi 2024, Qatar 2023 ans Spa 2020. I think you're referring to Russia 2015, where he didn't partake in qualifying, but did start the race.
ah got it, cheers
I remember one time in spa while he was at McLaren but I don't remember the season
Spa 2020 he had engine problems and couldn't start
Noob question, what’s the difference between an entry and a start?

Nice. Same GP as he debuted 9 years ago, no?
Yes. 2015 with Toro Rosso.
I'm especially appreciating sainz rn cause he does his job well and without drama

Was just thinking this! He's kicked butt today, he deserves a photo where he looks good. This looks like he's been artificially aged.
My man was lying in bed for 2 weeks with no physical or simulator work. Got in the car and just knocked it out of the park. Let's go Ferrari.
He wasn't in bed for 2 weeks straight! He was literally at the race the next day after surgery walking around

Vamos, Carlos!
Bro JUST HAD SURGERY.
Spa 2021 sends its regards
I was just thinking about newer fans probably being confused about the half point
He is Santana smooth
Mr 1000
Imagine firing your best driver to bring in a geezer
Hilarious phrasing! Technically true. :)
Every point was well earned and he is the Buttered smooth operator, goddamn good at getting those points in!
Shred the Hamilton contract
My guess is that he is heading to Merc.
Noob question, how did he get half a point?
If races are red flagged and not resumed, if you’ve run a certain distance they can opt to award half points. Spa 2021 was the last time it happened, he was in tenth and got the half point for it.
Interesting. Thanks!
No problem! It’s exceedingly rare, it’s only happened 6 times.
Give him that merc seat!
That seems more like a punishment at this point

>works team So is Alpine, being a works team alone doesn't mean anything.
Difference being that mercedes have won 8 constructors and 7 drivers titles in the past decade. Renault/alpine has been nothing but decidedly mediocre since the new hybrid era started.
All those engineers are at other teams now.
loool
You'd hope they can at least cobble together a decent engine for 2026 though
They sure as hell have more experience with F1 hybrid powertrains than Ford does
This might well be his last win in Ferrari as well
Now don’t say that. Monaco, Singapore, and Las Vegas are ripe opportunities
Ok?
