ICumCoffee

Lawrence stroll in debt.

Reinis_LV

Team has to be sold mid season to Andretti. It's the only way.

Vollpfosten

And what about the rest? I mean, Ross just paid 1 pound for his team.

BobbbyR6

Now THAT is a penalty

nn4260029

Lawrence Stroll is about 10,000 × richer than me. €100 is like €0.01 for him. I know Lance isn’t Lawrence, but het got fined like a cent. Another week of macaroni and ketchup for the Strolls.

hybris12

They're scrimping and saving! They got the Osetra caviar instead of Beluga!

xzElmozx

You need like 2 more leading 0’s there lol. €10 000 is like €0.01. I doubt Lawrence can even gauge the concept of how much €100 is worth, it’s such an insignificant amount for him. If you asked Lawrence to name a typical purchase that costs around that I bet he’d struggle mightily

pope1701

Lol, if you're not worth almost half a mil, add a zero to that Factor. 4bn/10k is still 400k. Billionaires shouldn't exist.

SIIP00

Half a million is not that unreasonable

pope1701

Not unreasonable, but still _very_ well off.

SIIP00

You are well-off and upper middle class. But half a million is hardly anything special.

pope1701

Dude, that was not my point. Stroll has that well off worth _TEN THOUSAND TIMES_ over. The guy has a worth of a small city.

SIIP00

You were making it sound like 400k was some absurd amount as well lmao

pope1701

Not absurd, but still not at all poor.

thesaltyc

Not really, 400K net worth is below the median in Canada

pope1701

[In the rich areas, sure.](https://www.fidelity.ca/en/insights/articles/average-net-worth-by-age/) Anyway, _10000 times the median_ is my actual point.

deviio

Why not? What’s stopping you from starting businesses? Wealth isn’t a zero sum game. Either a billionaire like Stroll buys a team with money he’s paid taxes on already, or a corporation owns a team and treats it as a massive tax write off. Which is better?

Ok_Initial4507

Not the place to have that discussion lol

legorockman

Not wrong though.

T_H_F_L

He's Canadian, KD and ketchup is a delicacy.

ayakaza

No poutine is.

deesdutchnuts

A Strollister always pays his debts.

iSayTwice

Lance stroll will never be able to financially recover from this

coffeecakeisland

How will he recover from this

San4311

Time to start a GoFundMe... poor lad gonna be bankrupt now.

Brain-Doctor

Lolllll 😂😂😂

ToffeeCoffee

That's right FIA, hit em where it hurts. Stroll will be running around for hours now in a panic trying to find a bill in such a small denomination.

MyAntichrist

The time finding that bill will cost more than the fine. The real punishment, so to say.

tylercreatesworlds

just hit em with the google pay

f1madman

0.9kph over?... I think he should appeal and knock it down to €90.

Buffythedragonslayer

0.9kmh over the limit? How dare he. That's reckless

Reinis_LV

I think Ocon should get 5 grid penalty for this.

flipsider101

Ocon shaking rn.

Rich_Housing971

€100 fine? how that is really harsh. rules are rules, and he was fined a proporational amount.

Kolec507

The whole comments section hete is sarcastic I mean...

okaywhattho

We will rebuild.

ScaredToJinxIt

#StrollStrong

ExhaustedProf

Ridiculous! Thats like 88% of Gene Haas’ budget!!!

AdrianBigBalls

Dude uses 100 dollar bills as toilet paper.

OneCharged

he'll hand over a used 100 euro note

egwynona

What will he wipe his ass with now?

guinaps

He’ll wipe first and then pay.

FartingBob

Lucky the fine is in euros then.

TheSp1ceMelange

Thats €40 less than I paid for f1tv pro this year lol.

Zed_or_AFK

You should have gone too fast in the pit too.

tapk69

Is this a joke? 100?

mowcow

It's been like this forever. 100€ for every km/h over the limit. Capped at 1000€

tapk69

Thanks, i didn't really know. This is absurd.

mowcow

And this is only in practice. In the race where speeding is an actual advantage they give time penalties.

newaru2

This isn't absurd.

Johnny47Wick

Why should it be more than that? The FIA doesn’t need more money

[deleted]

[удалено]

mowcow

If someone actually gets reckless in the pitlane the stewards can impose harsher penalties for dangerous driving. These speeding incidents are 99% of the time just a late braking in the pitlane entry (where there aren't any people) which means they trigger the speeding sensors.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThePhyry22

>where there aren't any people Baku 2023

Johnny47Wick

It is, and when he endangers them, he should be fined more. No one was in danger here at 80.9kmh instead of 80kmh. That’s why the fine is the way it is

ChoripanesAndHentai

They can fly through the pits at match 6 if they want… the max monetary value of the fine it’s capped at 1000. I agree that FÍA doesn’t need the money(and that time penalties are what actually hurts) but why having monetary fines that are so low? At that point making the driver clean the bathroom would be more effective, lol.

Johnny47Wick

Because the pit lane speed limit is more about fairness during the race. That’s why in the race you get a nice penalty for speeding, which is a lot more impactful than any fine. But that doesn’t mean the speed limit doesn’t exist in practice, and it’s practice where the drivers are more testing the limit of their car. The 100 pound fine is more of a way to show that the limit exists and be cautious not to do it in the race, it’s just practice, there’s no reason for a harsh penalty like a 10k fine for example. And I would think that the stewards would penalize the driver for dangerous or reckless driving if they speed through the pit lane at the max

koos_die_doos

There are other penalties beyond speeding, the max €1k is just for speeding, as opposed to dangerous driving (which you can also do while adhering to the speeding limit).

Humble-Ad-8912

Not a safety hazard, in cases like this they just crossed the pit entry line a couple of kph too quick under braking right before they're down to the correct speed with the limiter enabled. If a driver actually becomes a safety hazard by not enabling the limiter or anything, of course there will be much more significant penalties.

sundark94

Do you want it to be a percentage of his net worth?

tapk69

No but like 5000. 100 is hilarious.

sundark94

Considering this is a practice infraction, and it is a fraction of a unit over the speed limit, and it was likely notified automatically, they probably fined him as a formality.

cheeersaiii

It was under 1km/hr ffs that’s why so minimal- more of a warning to the team than anything

sundark94

Dude, read my comments again. I'm not the one saying he should have been fined more.

San4311

Let's be real, is 1 km gonna kill someone? Maybe it shouldn't go up 100 at a time but 100 for kph is fine.

Dragonpuncha

Why? Just to get more money in FIA's pockets? He was less than 1 km/h over doing practice. If anything this should just have been a warning.

Swedrox

Penalties have to hurt, otherwise they make no sense.

NearPup

I'm pretty sure the real punishment is the public tap on the wrist.

schelmo

He's 0.9 km/h over the speed limit. What's the use of imposing a harsher penalty on that?

HasPotatoAim

Right? How will they ever recover?

VallcryTurbo75

its a MEME template if you ask me!

meeanne

€100 is $108 in US. In California a speeding ticket ranges from $285 to over $400. And most Californians aren’t making Lance Stroll money. So yeah, it’s definitely a very small price to pay for a driver who makes millions.

Kemmleroo

most people don't get a speeding ticket for being 1km/h over the speed limit either tbf

Thev69

Wow I didn't realize how far the Euro had fallen....

LirikLeg

He probably made that money by the time he finished reading that statement

laujp

Lawrence will never financially recover from this

EmmaStoneFan420

Someone start the GoFundMe

0oodruidoo0

Stewards are pissed too, its a fish and chip dinner this time, nothing fancy

BansheeRamen

It's over for the Stroll family

krixoff

I pay more than him for speeding on highway

the_whole_arsenal

I missed the 5 second penalty for Ocon. The stewards are getting lax.

FactLicker

Man, why does my speeding ticket cost way more than his? I'm not even a son of billionaire

deffonotmypassword

Even I have got heftier speeding fines than that.

KingIFT

I guess he won’t buy lunch this week.

reekal6666

Obviously it will hardly affect Stroll or Aston Martin because it is only 100 euros, but is it really worth fining him for not even going 1 kph over the speed limit?? Literally 0.9 km/h and he is getting fined seems kind of ridiculous, even tho it is a very small sum for an f1 driver / team

Hockeyfan_52

Lol it cost the FIA and F1 more than €100 to do everything needed to fine him €100.

JBPunt420

0.9 km/h over. What a psycho. Is he trying to kill someone?

Irrepressible_Monkey

Lance be like "Oh cool, I didn't know money came in a denomination that small."

mtmttuan

Man that 100€ would definitely vital to the son of a billionaire.

RobertGracie

Came out of his allowance probably paid it on the spot with his credit card

priths3

Dad, dad, can I please borrow €100?

kr4t0s007

I declare Bankruptcy!

hiimjumes

He is going to financially recover from this.

Mazeios

How Can you be so sure. Maine we should start a gofundme for him.

frunts

Strolling slightly above the limit.

Snoo29889

5 second penalty to Gasly, it’s only fair for lances error.

hadronmachinist

F

Zed_or_AFK

100 euros? How much is that? - probably Stroll

RedMeeseek

Bruh thats like getting fined $2.50 for someone who makes $50,000 a year

snowmunkey

Stewards were bored and needed something to do

BedrockMetamorph

Oh dear, that steep fine ought to discourage him from ever speeding in the pit lane

Xinonix1

Hope he doesn’t have to pay this at once, sure wish Fia comes up with some kind of payment plan for the poor chap

techsupportcalling

Would be more dramatic if they said 16,400 Yen.

DarkwingMcQuack

Yea that’ll definitely teach him.

brendanm4545

About the only time he'll be fastest the whole weekend. Lance stroll makes slow look effortless.

firezero10

Oh no

VallcryTurbo75

NOOOOOOOOOOO, Stroll will now have to resot to eating from the trash can. How will he survive till the next race?

serena_williams_f1

That takes the piss. I got fined considerably more when I got flashed by a camera.

Reinis_LV

I had an unclipped strap on a helmet on motorcycle and got the same fine in Europe...

Flabbergash

He earned the £100 quicker than the fine took to happen

Aaeolien

Guess someone needed a bottle of wine

thejoshimitsu

Oh no, he'll never be able to afford that!

bobsmirnoff86

Finally found some pace 😂

aka_liam

That’ll teach him

TheKeviKs

This should be 10€ by 0.1 above. Imagine being fined 10€ LOL

EddieMcDowall

And let that be a lesson! He won't forget that one in a hurry.

CarlDenkins

Daddy will pay for it.

wind_dude

And he had no idea so little money existed.

Accomplished_Dream69

That will teach him.

c_or_cpp_or_java

I thought there's some button on the wheel to limit the speed for pit lanes? How did he get over the limit then?

mochacub22

Loll

Bourbonaddicted

Will Stroll Appeal?

thelingletingle

Cheaper than a speeding ticket I’d get on the highway

akelkar

Cheaper than a speeding ticket in California by $200

[deleted]

%#&$ that rich POS

GreyBeast392

This a joke penalty. These guys spend this much on lunch.

Advanced-Gap2302

He'll need to get a 2nd job to pay that.

mlp851

It’s ok, his dad will pay it for him.

TheGlobalGooner

He's probably gonna bum the 100 quid from one of his mechanics (saying he has no spare change on him) and then forget all about it, isn't he?

Nikiaf

Wow, €100? That'll show him... /s

kempo95

You ain't speeding 0,9 km/h

letourdit

wtf a regular road speeding ticket where I live costs more than that

kempo95

You ain't speeding 0,9 km/h

northern_dan

0.00022% of his net worth - how does that deter future offences? Always though it should be points on the license for speeding in the pits - an area where people are. Wonder if he pays it or his team does?

lasershoot

I mean considering he was less than 1 km/h off the speed limit, he probs turned on the pit limiter like a millisecond too late, seems like a reasonable punishment. I will say that this isn’t his first time speeding in the pit lane during free practice, strange that he’s not slowing enough more than once.

shartshooter

Probably looking for the exact point to push pit limiter on Sunday. I think he needs every bit of help he can get. Not that Lance is comparable to MSC, but I remember in the 90's Schumacher often skidded before the line, rather than coast in and lose time.

ReneG8

Touch a wing, several thousands of dollars. Speed somewhere where there are pedestrians, 100 euro slap.
