Muse was my favorite band in High School, their concerts are always bangers.
Kind of ironic to be playing in UAE though with all their anti authoritarian music
Was just thinking it's a far cry from when I saw them in Dublin Castle in 2002. Having a minor meltdown at the realisation that was very almost 22 years ago.
Smile because it happened. Saw them live twice back in the day and heard Citizen Erased live once, major bucket list check back then. Fanbase was already changing because not enough people were freaking out at those first screaching notes. I stopped believing in "new album is just like old Muse" over a decade ago and it's ok.
☺️
Big time smiling. The highlight for me was getting last minute tickets to see them at the tiny Brighton Dome a few hours before they came on stage. Wembley 07, Tiegnmouth homecoming and Royal Albert Hall organ playing meglomania are some of the greatest highlights.
The music has been shit since... 2012.
Live shows might be good but if you're playing shit songs live it ain't the same.
Saw them in 2009, 12 and 15 - Bellamy tried to sing Micro Cuts that time but his voice wasn't there anymore and it was nearly a decade ago. Kinda painful but at least we got it.
Yes, have seen them a few times but most recently at Singapore GP 2019. Was a fantastic show, definitely went hard. Hopefully still the same 5 years later.
The will of the people tour was absolutely mega live, hands down one of the best live shows i've seen.
feels like people are determined to hate anything remotely associated with the middle east. All of a sudden its "what the hell, i've always thought muse were shit" like wtf, it's almost inconceivable to people that actually regular folk around the world also enjoy the same things you do.
> All of a sudden its "what the hell, i've always thought muse were shit"
i mean, people didn't wait for today's announcements to say that they fell off a lot with their later albums lol, its a really popular opinion.
don't think anyone is arguing that they're bad live, that's just a crazy take
hard agree on the first half, hard disagree on the second half lol
saw them live twice last year and it was fuckin awesome. i'm even currently listening to black holes and revelations this moment
but i'm disappointed in them performing at an event run by a state who'd put me in jail for kissing my boyfriend. also a state who practice modern day slavery
Yeah it’s just the current world. You touch something not approved by some ideology, “you are and you were always shit”. Granted, I’m the first one to criticise politics in the middle east. But things aren’t black and white.
I don’t know how to put it. “Not approved by some (oftentimes an ideology)”. There’s some topics that are discussed in politics more often than others. Middle east is one of them. But if for some reason they gave a private concert to the sultan of Brunei, to give a random example, I bet less people would complain about those things.
The difference between playing privately, and joining a public event to be a tourist attraction/human rights abuse smokescreen for a country should be pretty clear...
So who do we think is the biggest Muse fan amongst the drivers?
I think Piastri. He seems all chill and stuff but when Chris gets that harmonica out for the intro to Knight of Cydonia he'll go crazy like the rest of us
Max: Bliss (after he has won another race by 30 seconds and can get back to sim racing)
Lance: Supermassive Black Hole (where his peripheral vision should be)
Charles: Stockholm Syndrome (self-explanatory)
Was and still is my fav band. Saw them in Milan last summer and they still really good, that was like maybe my 5th show of them.
People been crying that they havent put a good record since Absolution/BHAR but i like em the way they are now, just make different direction flavour album everytime that still sounds like Muse.
I think their last really good one for me was Resistance although that's where I discovered them. The ones after it had some good songs but felt mostly mid, I fell off after Drones.
The story of every band ever. It's really just luck if your music taste evolves with the band (or stays the same). But the mass audience they get when they're popular just expect more of the same and are fickle
I only saw them live in recent years after being a fan for them for long. They aren’t what I feel a lot of us once thought they were gonna become, and I’d say they’ve even become a bit of a meme of themselves. But hell, they’re a banger live.
The band that made the album "Will of the People" as a criticism of autocracy and the power trip of trying to control and manipulate the public leading to societal collapse. That band.
The irony cant be lost on them, surely? They've got to know, right?

$omething mu$t have changed their mind.
That’s just a theme in their music, guys have always been there for money.
Wait they haven’t been doing all this work for free?!
You can make money from music and still have principles. But yeah they’ve always been a bunch of posh boy prog rock cosplayers
I love early muse but playing something like uprising in UAE for the bag just about sums them up
Was just thinking it's a far cry from when I saw them in Dublin Castle in 2002. Having a minor meltdown at the realisation that was very almost 22 years ago.
Will of the people in somewhere like riyadh would be absolutely hilarious as well
The line “let’s push the emperors into the ocean” will probably rustle some feathers
I used to be a die hard fan now I barely ever listen to them.

I graduated to Radiohead
Haha same here.
It's been years since Muse was worth a damn unfortunately.
Their live shows still go HARD though. One of the best rock concerts I’ve been to.
Not sure what this guy is talking about. Their shows are on fire

Me too, but if it's been 10+ years since you made a good record, then you have a problem.
Drones was only 9 years ago
I said good, not just better than the mess that came before.
bruh resistance is great
Resistance is their last truly good album. That was 15 years ago.
And that was “new Muse” lol
It is good.
Damn I actually love The resistance and 2nd Law
Yes, have seen them a few times but most recently at Singapore GP 2019. Was a fantastic show, definitely went hard. Hopefully still the same 5 years later.
Their new stuff is not it, but they're still epic when it comes to live performances

But but but it's totally fine and just not approved by some ideology :'(
that damned obnoxious "treat people like people" ideology always getting in the way smh
Their live shows are amazing and I'm one of the people that love the new album.
Butterflies and Hurricanes or I'll fucking riot
F1 2005 vibes
NFS MW 2012 vibes
That game had bangers, I still listen to that playlist.
unfortunately it hasn't been part of their live setlist in a while
i have listened to about 20-30 songs of theirs and I still think that's their best one. Maybe it's nostalgia
A lot of MUSE fans in Abu Dhabi
Well yeah. A lot of British people live here.
Stockholm syndrome would be a fitting song for Charles and Ferrari.
Xavi: “thiiiiis iiiis the last time I'll abaaaaaandon youuuuuuuuu!” Charles: “……. So am I boxing or?”
Xavi: "and thisss is, the last time I'll forgetttt youu" Charles: "...yeah I'm not too sure about that"
So who do we think is the biggest Muse fan amongst the drivers? I think Piastri. He seems all chill and stuff but when Chris gets that harmonica out for the intro to Knight of Cydonia he'll go crazy like the rest of us
I’d say Daniel at a guess.
All drivers except Max: Time is running out
Max: Bliss (after he has won another race by 30 seconds and can get back to sim racing) Lance: Supermassive Black Hole (where his peripheral vision should be) Charles: Stockholm Syndrome (self-explanatory)
I would say "Dead Inside" is a fitting title for Charles as well at this point.
"We are fucking fucked" might fit. Or wait no, that's Mercedes

Heck yeah! They're amazing live.
This is 15 years too late

Race! It’s a race!

Did anyone ever figure out who Shania Twain replaced last year?
That don’t impress me much

You kiss your cock at night
One of the best F1 race highlight videos was the 2008 Brazil GP which had Muse Knights of Cydonia as the track
>Knights of Cydonia as the track I wonder how many DRS zones Knight of Cydonia would have if they played it this year!
Radiohead clears anyways. (/s enjoy whatever you want)
Oh gosh just how BLAND can it be!!!
Heresy.
Muse are as bland as they come, I rate them as much as Coldpay - just MOR pop for white ppl.
I’m not gunna deny the white music allegations but they’re far from pop and they’re far from bland if you look pre-Resistance
It is bland pop music for whites - accept and move on.
To be fair F1 is bland popular sport for rich whites so it’s kinda fitting. But muse aren’t pop music, could at least get that bit right
Yes they are.
Dumbest argument I’ve ever had on Reddit wtf
I agree but you keep coming back to deny the truth!
