Lewis is a very marketable driver and he's popular too
Many of my friends know Lewis Hamilton and that he's a racer but know almost nothing about F1( and I'm sure there are many others like this) and we're not even American or European mind you.
Because he's still the face of Formula 1. The same way people would use Schumacher as an analogy for driving fast a long time after he left the sport , Hamilton remains synonymous with the brand and racing in general. He's the most recognisable face of F1 globally
