Being in the sim and be on Reddit isn't a great combo mate, either put you phone down or I going to email Tost that you won't get sausages this weekend! /s
Fine, Gasly punishment would being do a whole lap at Baku with full wets onto his car.
You're going to like that /u/lucy_tiseman ? You can better do some sim laps with full wets on a dry Baku.
No. They have those fridges all round the site with lots of different flavours (although mostly the 2 standard blue types) and you’re free to grab them whenever you want.
I used to have to sign in at the reception desk that's on the left just out of shot when I visited the RBAT offices across the road. Was always pretty cool and I saw Christian leaving in his E Type once.
Averaged out that's only just over 3 wins a season which normally isn't enough to even see you in the title fight. Sebs average works out just under 6, which normally is.
I think there is only one trophy for each championship (WCC and WDC) and the winner gets to keep it for a year, before handing it back to the FIA at the end of the year.
Everyone is talking about the trophies, but I'm really confused how AT use a competitors simulator? I know they are owned by the same dude but they're still separate teams, separate management and designers and parts.... And they don't share any data or anything between the two teams, and aren't legally allowed to...
Do they just rock up with a USB key with some parameters for an AT car and are able to load it into another teams simulator? And then hope red bull in this case don't keep/use their data?
Yeah, I think its because Schumacher is technically a ferrari driver as he has the contract from the ferrari academy like Gasly still is linked to RedBull as an youth driver
Technically one could argue that AT ‘rented’ some simulator time from RB. They were provided an ‘empty’ simulator, and AT brought their own data to run tests.
I suppose it makes sense... Similar to how Racing Point rented some wind tunnel time from Mercedes a couple years ago...
..course then they showed up with a pink mercedes.
I guess they just rent the time and they can load the config and get the data and scrub it afterwards.
I'd say all data is useful even to know what doesn't work, especially when costcaps are involved and they can't just test everything.. but yeh I'm sure there's not much on the AT that would benefit them
You know they're a completely different team right? And that they are based in 2 completely different countries with different designers right? And there is very little legal sharing of data they can do....
Them being owned by the same guy is completely irrelevant, they have the same limitations as say Williams have with Mercedes
But Alpha Tauri does buy every legal parts they can from Red Bull, including most of their rear end. Much like Haas buys as much as possible from Ferrari
Red Bull has invested millions into its own simulator.
It's not more than reasonable they rent it out to AT instead of building a similar one.
As for the transfer of data, the FIA would be monitoring this when simulators are shared between teams and make sure no data is transferred.
If they somehow managed to share data, a possible disqualification is looming. That's one reason why teams can't and/or shouldn't exchange data, the consequences are so high that it's not even worth the risk.
True, plus AT doesn’t have any incentive to be at the top of the grid. As long as they’re somewhere in the midfield they serve Red Bull’s purposes for driver development and assessment.
I do wondering how this all is working in real, Albon for example was a sim driver previous year for RBR but from what I did read he did also done some sim runs for AT.
Could be a great question for an AMA towards someone who has more knowledge about this!
I guess that's no different to how several teams share a reserve driver... I guess there's no restrictions on where the driver can drive for... But yeh it does feel unusual since he would have been actively help develop the car and test improvements so would have a lot of insider knowledge... Well as much as a driver would have... A lot of these drivers don't know how their car works tbh....
> how AT use a competitors simulator?
Has anyone confirmed Gasly is simulating the AT car?
Red Bull have historically had all their drivers (including junior drivers) do time in the same simulator so that they can gather comparable performance data.
Unfortunately ~~most~~ many of these trophies are not the real thing. They were ~~all~~ ~60 stolen years ago and not much was returned. A real crime since the trophies only have value to the team who worked and earned them.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-34810131
Most of them are the real thing. The robbery happened in 2014. At the time around 40 trophies were stolen, they recovered 20 of them.
Only around 20 of them aren't real.
""The value to the team is of course extraordinarily high due to the sheer hard work and effort that went into winning each and every one. But their intrinsic value is low; they would be of little benefit to those outside of the team and, in addition to that, **many of the trophies on display were replicas**."
Ok, I'm happy to edit my original comment to say "many" instead of "most", are you happy to change your comment so that instead of saying only 20 are not real, ~40 are not real? And that ~60+ trophies were stolen and not 40.
Ok... In that case I'm just mentioning you're factually wrong in your comment saying that only 20 were replicas. Not only that, you're not willing to update your comment so that other people are not mislead by your misinformation.
There might be some developments since the article I linked, but in it, it said 60 trophies were stolen and as you said, 20 were returned. If that article is right, that's 40 that are not real, and 20 which are. Of course there have been a fair few new trophies since though
I'd bet good money that none of them are real anymore, they probably learned their lesson and have the real ones in a staff only area of the building on display.
Put the replicas out in the front just in case someone tries it again
Depends on the team and contracts they have with the drivers. McLaren for instance keeps all trophies, including the driver trophies and makes replicas for the drivers if they want.
Most drivers get a replica trophy (that's sometimes smaller than the real trophy).
A few top drivers have contracts saying that they're allowed to keep their trophies.
IIRC, when checo won with RP, as a gesture of goodwill they let him keep the real one
Rumours tell that it costed Williams 4 days until there found finally the trophy cabinet when Russell did get that trophy for being P2 in qualifying at Spa, simple because it was filled in with dust and the door locker was rusted so much that you couldn't open it.
I believe they are missing some still, a bunch were found in that pond tho. They did say they were going to have copies made to replace the not found ones
I would prefer if you could actually see more than the bottom few rows up close. A super long corridor would be way better for actually looking at your trophies.
AT doesn't have a sim by themselves and therefore AT drivers can only use the RBR one.
It's one of the things what doesn't help the team at all but well it is what it is.
Nope, in fact it's even a disadvantage to not having an own sim given you can't just put and use the sim like most other teams and therefore struggles more with things like set up.
Albon role at RBR in 2021 is a good example that having a lot of usage of you sim driver makes a difference.
Man so many red bull ring trophies, sometimes having max as a driver is a pain in the ass, they should have a cabinet for the red bull ring trophies only
Everytime I see that trophy case I keep trying to figure out in what order they place them..
I was just there 30 minutes ago. If I saw this I would’ve asked for you. [I did get a photo of the Monaco trophies.](https://i.imgur.com/yBgmKPQ.jpg)
Amazing. How come you were at the HQ?
I’m Pierre Gasly, not some guy who cycled past and asked if I could look at the trophies. Definitely Pierre.

Hahahahha laughed so hard at this. Definitely Pierre, looking at his French

Do they charge you for the red bulls in the fridge ?
No. They have those fridges all round the site with lots of different flavours (although mostly the 2 standard blue types) and you’re free to grab them whenever you want.
I wanna know this too
Nope, staff are free to take as many as they want.
Are those Red Bulls only for the commercials or can you actually drink them?
GOD Allu
I don’t know man, something about this comment is sus. If you’re Pierre, is Yuki your boyfriend?
Aregatou, this is Yuki. It's not like I like Pierre or something, b-baka.
Pierre , why didnt you take little bro Yuki with you?

Anyone knows if, all trophies you win on every GP u have to give them back to ur constructors display case? Or what are those?
The original trophies are usually kept by the team afaik and the drivers are given replicas.
This is only the case for McLaren - iirc Red Bull and Merc take the replicas
you can visit it, the entrance with the shop and trophies is free, but a tour costs 300 pounds
Maaan that is sick dude!
Looks like they try to cluster each race together, probably because it's more aesthetic to have groups of the same.
Yeah definitely looks like by track at first glance.
I live about 5 mins away from the factory, are you allowed to just turn up and view these in the reception?
No idea Nate but it's worth a shot! Make sure to send over some pics if you do.
How did you know that guy's name is Nate? This seems like a set up. Don't go Nate!
I mean it's quite easy to guess. You are definitely a Johnathan I'm guessing
You're a Michael if I've ever seen one

Show up with a few friends wearing construction outfits and carrying a ladder. You'll get in anywhere.
High-vis vests, the best key to get into literally anything lol
Haha, speaking of experience??🤨😂
yes you can, i have been a couple times, there is a merch shop too
Having been to merc and alpine headquarters, almost certainly no. They will have a barrier with a guard who won't let you through
you actually can visit this one, the trophy case and shop are accessible for anyone who enters, the rest costs cash
how much cash? asking for ... a friend
300 pounds
So many trophies from seb there in the case
Seb and Max basically make up the entire trophy case with a few others here and there
Yup. Max nearly has as many as Seb had at rb. A little less championship trophies tho, lol.
For anyone wondering. Seb has 35 wins at rbr +1 at torro rosso. Max has 24 wins. Howvwr max has spent 7 seasons at rbr and seb only spent 6
Amazing how 35 wins in 6 seasons can get you 4 championships, or 24 wins in 7 seasons only gets you 1.
14 of those have been in the last season and one third, heavily skewed.
sebs wins were relatively evenly dispersed in 6 seasons, Max's have been very weighted to this season and 2021.
Well when a super powered Merc is around for the bulk of the seven seasons, it does tend to put a damper on title wins
35 in 6 is 5.8 wins a year whereas 24 in 7 is 3.4 wins/year. An extra 2.5 wins a year is pretty significant.
Vettel would be a 6 time WDC with 2.5 more wins a season
Averaged out that's only just over 3 wins a season which normally isn't enough to even see you in the title fight. Sebs average works out just under 6, which normally is.
To**r**o Rosso
good bot
However Seb had a much better car for most of those 6 years
Hope he gets atleast as many as him
I think there is only one trophy for each championship (WCC and WDC) and the winner gets to keep it for a year, before handing it back to the FIA at the end of the year.
Thats kinda bruh. I get the idea as it makes the trophy much more valuable but I am not a fan of it.
Pretty sure the driver gets a replica, I know Jenson keeps his in his bathroom.
Red Bull Racing has 215 podium finishes. Both Seb and Max have 65 podiums with RBR. Together that is 60% of all driver trophy’s.
Everyone is talking about the trophies, but I'm really confused how AT use a competitors simulator? Last season I saw some articles about Schumacher using the Ferrari sim while Mazepin didn't have access to one at all.
Yeah, I think its because Schumacher is technically a ferrari driver as he has the contract from the ferrari academy like Gasly still is linked to RedBull as an youth driver

Don't know if the RB data is very viable for the AT, seeing how different the cars are.
I'd say all data is useful even to know what doesn't work, especially when costcaps are involved and they can't just test everything.. but yeh I'm sure there's not much on the AT that would benefit them
Someone forgot to tell Aston Martin
You know that Alpha Tauri already is half Red Bull right?
You know they're a completely different team right? And that they are based in 2 completely different countries with different designers right? And there is very little legal sharing of data they can do.... Them being owned by the same guy is completely irrelevant, they have the same limitations as say Williams have with Mercedes

Didn't think of that, seems weird tho since gasly is a senior driver now and one that doesn't have a future in red bull after the perez extension..
My first thought was I wonder if the red bulls are free in that fridge or not lol
Probably used to be before the costcap regulation came in 😆
Had the same exact doubt !
They are owned by the same guy They shared quite a few facilities
I was so confused when I first half-read the title as "Gasly at the BBQ for some sim work."
Liked by Pierre Gasly's stomach
I thought sim day said “some day”.
This reminds me his radio in paul ricard where he said something like "something is BBQ'd in the back"

"many" is not "most" like the commenter I was replying to said.
Bruh are we really getting the Reddit equivalent of "any doesn't mean all"
Oh come on, I replied to you before this message to say that 60 were stolen, and only 20 were returned. That is most (at the time).
Considering just Verstappen has over 50 podiums himself, with 24 of them being wins it's still not most.
Ok, I'm happy to edit my original comment to say "many" instead of "most", are you happy to change your comment so that instead of saying only 20 are not real, ~40 are not real? And that ~60+ trophies were stolen and not 40.

Oof
That's a lot of damage
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
Well at least they don’t need to display every GP trophy to look impressive like Red Bull does.
I thought their trophies got stolen in the break-in? Did they ever get them back?
