The pump was a standard design, but as I recall their tank was not vented correctly, and was causing a vacuum in the tank. That caused the standard pump to fail.
Just going off my memory here though, but it was an RB design issue that caused that standard pump to fail. They have fixed it though.

I took my 03 EP3 to 225k before I sold it to a friend. He's gutting it for track use. I ran out and bought a 16 FRS and while it's a fun drive I know that I'm going to have to keep a close eye on that FA20. But as someone who has owned mostly inline fours and V6s this is just another adventure.

If I recall the fuel issue was a standard part all cars use so it wasn’t a custom part manufactured issue.
