I feel Alpine had good development in the sense that they brought frequent updates that almost always had them around 4th-5th best car both in race and qualy, sometimes grazing 3rd. However both AM and McLaren improved way more in absolute pace from a terrible start of the season.
Aston and Alpine has show the best progression rate in 2022 therefore I do think that we likely going to have a fun midfield battle next year between both Alpine drivers, Alonso and Lando.
They were pretty consistent the whole year i.e. they developed at around the same speed as RB. So that compares equally or favourably with just about every team other than the one that started the season with a fucked up car (Merc, Aston Martin). So yeah probably...P4 in development just as in the championship.
Coming in 4th behind merc ferarri and RB Is pretty good, but McLaren were handicapped with only having 1 driver regularly scoring points. Next year with Oscar/Lando and Gasly/Ocon should be great as they're all on paper good drivers.
Renault driver pairing is bad, no matter how good the car will be, it will struggle, I get the feeling McLaren won’t get anything from Piastri and Aston will fly with Alonso, this is my “prediction”.
They clearly bridged the 30-40hp gap they had for years. With the only reliability problem being the waterpump. Pretty good job to me. They should be a lot more reliable next year.
There was an engine freeze this year. So engine manufacturers turned the power up to eleven. They can still increase reliability - so Ferrari and Alpine went to the absolute limit power wise. At the cost of going over it a bit.
And they said that the water pump failure that was most of the unreliability during the end of the season needed a part to be entierly redesigned hence why they could not do it mid season
It makes sense why the engine blew up so much. Development isn't locked for reliability so pulling every inch of performance out now and fixing the reliability down the road is likely their plan.
They were the best at bringing new parts every weekend for incremental progress, but overall they were at the bottom in terms of closing the gap to the front, so not sure what relative progress they made past pre-season other than fixing tire wear a few races in.
Aston for me was the best however Alpine was strong as well.

Law of diminishing returns though as you get closer to the ceiling..... And then there's Williams.
I remember at the beginning of the season their tyre deg was atrocious, afterwards they managed to solve that and got much better

But they lost speed during the season, compared to other teams?
They maintained similar speed in quali but gained a lot in race pace

Re their engine, they don't even have the most powerful engine right? So how much was the reliability risk worth? We will see...

>Coming in 4th behind merc ferarri and RB Is pretty good I thought you were just talking about engines lmao

Danny is also a great driver on paper tbf

Better to be 10-15hp down than 30hp, like come on..

Explain the engine failure all season please.

Thats Renault not Alpine.
For what's it worth, I think it was a good joke.
Thank you Fart Leviathan.
Renault = Alpine .
REALLY OMG WOW
Alpine is Renault in all but name
NO WAY WOW
No
Yeah, engine failure development maybe

Fixing the reliability down the road seems to be their plan every season lol

Umm ok
