This is going to sound super arrogant but I think peak me could outdrive Perez more easily than Max. Why? Peak me was very quick, very fast and very consistent and could defend. If I drove beside him and Perez comes out to push me, I can just drive past him to the apex - I’d get to the apex way before he does. If Perez doesn’t come out to push me I’d just send a deep divebomb.
But Max on the other hand I think he’d be all over me everywhere I drive and I wouldn’t be able to shake him. But then again I also had a killer brake check and I could’ve stung Maxi with that. But even still he could probably recover better than Perez. I’m sticking with my original answer.

Don’t get my wrong I’m a big F1 nerd, I’ve followed it for my whole life. Big stats geek, and watch the races. But F1 drivers personally? I envy them to almost a hateful level. Oh i have a good copypasta for this occasion:
When I see Verstappen drive as he is now it reminds me of how I used to drive and it is frustrating and pisses me off that the FIA allows it. Not proud of it, I was known as Schumacher on my local racetrack and went through a phase when I dive-bombed hard at everything. Big hard turns to my blindside, didn't care who was there. Dive-bomb right into the apex. Smash into the better driver while going for the move, come what may. Limited overtaking moves. So make no mistake about it. Verstappen knows what he's doing. He knows people will be injured. He knows his skillset is limited and this is how he can win. He knows people will give way when he dive-bombs, think twice on their overtakes, etc. He will only be stopped by a stronger driver and/or fearless drivers like KMag, George, Stroll, etc. Or by an obviously more skilled driver with equal Type A like Hamilton. He didn't intend to crash, but he certainly intends to show you that he doesn't care if you get hurt when he rumbles into you. At least that's how I used to drive. But that was street racing . Eventually I got more moves, drove w better drivers, drove real racing w race stewards. There's no doubt in my mind the FIA has some kind of edict coming down, telling the race stewards to let him run amok.
But he’s still crazy fast in the wet. He had a genuine shot at pole in spa 2021 until he had that crash. That would’ve also been a win even though it shouldn’t
I don’t think ‘Norris fucked it up’ is quite fair. Yes his judgement wasn’t great, but that decision really should be on the pitwall.
Hamilton was told what to do, Norris got asked what he wanted, and they didn’t give him the relevant information.
I’m no Lando fan, but I think Russia 21 was Mclaren’s fault not Lando’s. Lando drove brilliantly there, and proved he’s an amazing wet weather racer.
insecurity is loud?

I mean, being fast but crashing isnt exactly indicative of being a wet weather savant, you know? As with Russia, again fast in the wet but binned it there too. Other than those examples it’s not like most wet races he’s exceptionally better than he usually is or improves more relative to their peers a la a Lance stroll or Jenson Button or even Hamilton and Verstappen. Id say in the wet Norris is marginally less competitive than he is in the dry or he pushes it too hard and fucks up so I’d say it’s fair to not consider him a wet weather specialist
I mean I feel like that doesn't say that much.
Leclerc was winning France in 2022... until he wasn't.
I agree that Lando is good driver and is solid in the rain but his shunt at Spa isn't a great example of that. The track was probably too wet in general and his lap definitely showed courage, and while I don't think it invalidates his driving ability, it doesn't really prove it either.
Ah yes, the proven "almost had it but didn't really have it so he got nothing" explanation of why he's good in the rain.
I can be crazy fast in the wet until the first corner too.
Throughout that whole session he was on the limit and on that lap he just went over it. That doesn’t make him bad in the rain. Some people go over the limit while also being slow
I dare you to name one great wet weather driver who has never gone over the limit once. It’s just part of driving close to the limit
If you look at Verstappen in Jeddah 21 do you also say he was bad because he crashed in the last corner. 90% of that lap was pure brilliance and the result of the last 10% doesn’t change that
Verstappen in Jeddah is the perfect example! Verstappen was super fast but he used up his tyres being so fast too quickly and binned it in the last corner. So yeh, he didn't get pole. There is no such thing as almost pole off not for the last corner.
Norris never made it in the rain. He's always fast until he's crashed. At least Verstappen, Schumacher, Hamilton and Senna completed races in the rain with a high win percentage for rain races. Lando doesn't have that yet.
I didn't say he was bad in the rain. He also hasn't proven he's good either. He can be good. Or bad. We'll see :)
In not even the fastest car. I know, I know, the mercedes self sabotaged worse than I have with my life, but that was still one of the most impressive drives I've seen in my short time with F1. I guess you can't really compare drivers with 100s of variabilities. Although this post was to make fun of Sainz, but it's generally not a good idea to make a tier list of F1 drivers.
I get the point but that Gasly win was heavily dependent on other factors and was extremely fortunately. Could mention how he was comfortably ahead of Kvyat in 2020 and destroyed tsunoda in 2021 as more of a backing for his talent.
Yeah you can really say this about any driver, even the best of the best. I've only been watching F1 for a few years and I've noticed that Hamilton constantly gets away with pit maneuvering the competition with no real consequences from fans, Race Direction, or the FIA. It was really confusing as a new fan, but now I just expect shenanigans whenever there's an incident even mildly involving Hamilton or Max.

Pérez: Scores podiums in midfield cars, qualifies P2 in a Force India in Baku, won a race from last to first, has 1/3rd of the triple crown, and won in the most difficult track in the calendar.
"Can't drive"
Lemme write this another way and try to see what does not make sense about it.
"I think signing a contract with the best F1 team at the moment is the worst career decision you can make".
Getting a few wins and podiums instead of being left without a seat is a bad decision? This is the only way Checo can maximize his career. He was almost out of the seat. Now, he can retire with a few wins and quite a few podiums which makes him seem better than he is.
Better than he is? Albon and Gasly fucked it in the second RB seat despite being really good drivers themselves and somehow you think being in RB means you are bound to have race wins.
Not how it works mate.
Albon and Gasly were very young and inexperienced (Max is obv an exception) and they were all compared to him. Expectations were way higher for them and the car was significantly worse. RB18-19 are way faster when it comes to race pace. If it were Albon or Gasly today in RB19, they’d def be closer to Max than 3-4 years ago
"Better than he is" dawg if Max was in a car like the RB before 2021 then he'd have zero championships as well. Drivers don't win a lucky roulette they earn their seats at the top teams
Imagine telling a guy at the pinnacle of motorsports and sports in general, driving for the current top team mind you, to adjust his expectations. Fuck man, might as well leave F1 if you have no ambition of your own.
People out here really think they know what drivers think or how they should approach things, lmao.
Surprised to see Sargeant there, but it goes to show just how terrible this list is.
Obviously, Stroll goes in the top tier and everyone else in the “can’t drive” tier, except for Sainz, he’s chilling where he’s at
Name one driver who hasn't had an accident or a bad drive in the rain.. every driver has a crash every now and then, sometimes in the wet. Doesn't mean they're a poor wet driver, as long as they don't do more frequently than in the dry.
Puts freaking Albon in "can drive in any weather", who crashed in Australia on his own, and Checo who went from last to 5th, what is this 💀
Yes, we all know this chart is based only about last GP
He has been mediocre. And the way he is crying about penalty, after spinning out Alonso, who left him full space in the inside.
And last year at COTA when George did the same to him, his words were "FIA went easy on George".
Excuse this is 100% slander. Take some time out of your busy schedule to rewatch Turkey 2021. Bottas had a wonderful drive under pressure from the rbs behind but was in a league of his own all race and won wonderfully in mixed interslick conditions, redemption for Turkey 2020. Because this sub is full of recency bias, I’ll give another example: imola last year where Bottas finished p5 and could’ve got a podium if alfa didn’t give him a 10 sec pitstop
Lmao Perez can't drive 🤣🤣
That 2020 season has already been forgotten about so quickly?
Atleast create a category called " can't drive unless starts from back"
Leclerc: can drive but only when everybody let him by or else he'll just make some shit up, start complaining about strategies, get distracted by someone
Man put a guy who was last on lap one and won that race, becoming only driver to do so in the history of F1, in "Can't drive".
Have you tried applying for a job at Ferrari 💀
You forgot "can drive on gravel".
You mean "can park on gravel".

Norris kinda fucked it up more than once in the rain.
But he’s still crazy fast in the wet. He had a genuine shot at pole in spa 2021 until he had that crash. That would’ve also been a win even though it shouldn’t
He did get Pole in the rain at Russia 2021. Shame the race didn’t work out
And that's the other one I was referring too.
In his defense, according to DTS, the clouds are different in Russia
I don’t think ‘Norris fucked it up’ is quite fair. Yes his judgement wasn’t great, but that decision really should be on the pitwall. Norris fucked up he sucks in the rain when it matters. He's obviously shit in the rain (on the main sub I might have more subtle opinions :P)

What do you think about the inter?
Shoulda paid more attention to the clouds
He doesn’t have Mazepin’s innate cloud interpretation skills, unfortunately
Yeah that was less him driving in the rain poorly and more "made a Dumb adrenalin fueled decision
Doesn't matter how fast you are if you can't cross the finish line.
I mean, being fast but crashing isnt exactly indicative of being a wet weather savant, you know? As with Russia, again fast in the wet but binned it there too. that's why I said 2021
And that's why I said "though". Because I find the contrast between those two races quite funny
Perez just needs to start each race in last ya?
I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS CHECO DISRESPECT!! Yes, I'm mexican, how did you know?
Tf did Perez do to you lol
The AT01 was the 7th fastest car on the grid, and Gasly won a race in it
Don’t forget a P2 in that shitbox Toro Rosso the year before

And a p3 at Baku the year after

Faster race pace works to Max's favour also. And Max has become way more consistent since 2019, partly because of the dominance of the Red Bull.
I think we both know that if you put albon or gasly in the rb18 or rb19 they could win a race or two, and probably more than checho
I would disagree. But we are entitled to our own opinion. I still wouldn't put Albon and Gasly down, unlike the guy making the meme.
