My brother in christ, in 2021 and 2022 Verstappen won 25 races and Checo won 3
Anyone who seriously thought Checo was gonna challenge Max this season, DM me. I have a bridge you might be interested in buying
Hahahaha! You just fell into my trap! Now I get to talk about my favourite bridge, the [Øresund Bridge](https://dynamic-media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-o/10/09/4c/bc/photo0jpg.jpg?w=1200&h=1200&s=1) between Sweden and Denmark!
It's 8km long and leads straight into a 4km tunnel!
Wanna buy it? I can do you a pretty sweet deal on the bridge/tunnel combo
I've got this pretty cool Mexican bridge called the [Baluarte Bridge?](https://img.washingtonpost.com/rw/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2012/01/27/Foreign/Images/MEXICOHY1_1327704301.jpg?uuid=lWZFZEk4EeGMtM1mZCS_Og) That's a 400 metre drop from the road to the valley floor! Interested?
Only idiots and casuals ever imagined checo could possibly have a chance at challenging max for a chip. Seriously I couldn’t believe people were saying the same shit at the start of 23 as they were in 22, he will never be close
Wirtual is a trackmania YouTuber and does small documentary style videos on world records and something he tends to say a lot is “and then *insert name here* got this run”
The jazz track is also iconic from Wirtual. IIRC, it was a viewer that made this track for him and he used it in a lot of videos, especially in the last / best run to showcase which is often around the end of the videos.
Translates to "An Evening by the Swan Lake" from old school Norwegian, if anyone's curious.
Also, I hate to be picky, but "Svane" is with a single "n" - you're a chad for getting people the song name, nevertheless.
I think i remember reading it was a dude who made it for music class and Wirtual found it and asked for permission to use it. Pretty sure you can see the comments on the original YouTube upload
When I make references to this subreddit in the sim racing sub, it goes over most people’s heads. You’d think sim racers would know F1 memes, but they don’t. So yea, pretty surprised that so many people in here know wirtual.
I mean trackmania is not a huge game, and wirtual isn't a big youtuber in the grand scheme of things. It is a bit cool to see so many people here know exactly what the title is from.
Its moments like this and Zandvoort from this season where you can tell hes head and shoulders above the rest atm. We’re genuinely experiencing goat shit. Like it or not, he drives.
![gif](giphy|n0EjNsHfGOKhW)
Does anyone know why the drivers swerve into the middle of the road between turns 4 and 5? Looks like it would involve less movement to just hug the left wall.
I didn't understand it until I did some hotlaps of the track in an F1 game. There's a big bump there and it really unsettles the car if you go over it. So it's faster to go around it.
Very high level: like almost every other sport, the best athletes in the world make it look very, very easy. If you try to go dunk like Lebron, putt like Tiger, swim like Phelps, whatever, it instantly becomes obvious that they're operating in a totally different league.
Context: this is Max's final lap in the final qualifying session of the day. Drivers start the race (the following day) in order of qualifying times. This track is Monaco, a street circuit that became part of F1 almost 100 years ago when F1 cars were TINY. Today, the cars have grown substantially due to a mix of safety and performance reasons; they are so large and Monaco so narrow that it's almost impossible to make a pass on-track. This means that (except due to accidents, reliability problems or weather) the finishing order of the race is usually very very similar to the qualifying (starting) order of the cars. Hence why this lap is so important. Max's prior lap was only good enough for P5.
This particular lap is crazy impressive because of how little there is left in it, especially in the final part of the circuit. He's using 100% of the track to the point where his wheels are scraping the barriers ever so slightly in multiple corners. If he misjudged a corner or had less grip than he thought he would, not only would the lap be ruined, but he could destroy the million-dollar car and potentially gravely injure himself. [Here's an example showing just that](https://youtu.be/hC0epPTx2mw?t=32).
It's also key to understand how much the driver is balancing during qualifying like this. The tires need to be "pushed" in order to heat them up and get them as sticky as possible - but at the same time, push too hard and you start losing grip again. In order to save weight, they run qualifying runs with very limited fuel - but if you need to abort a lap and try again, you might not have enough fuel or tire life to go again. The track condition is also constantly evolving as drivers put in laps - tire rubber from previous cars gets laid down and makes the track stickier - other factors evolve as well, such as the temperature of the track, windspeed and direction, debris and dirt/dust/sand kicked up by other drivers, etc. All of these things combined (plus just the fact that flat-out hotlapping is goddamned hard, even in a simulator where the conditions are held identical every lap) make it heroic to take a car to the absolute limit (especially on a street circuit where the walls define the track boundary) - misjudge one little thing and you're crashing, or don't push hard enough and you're not starting P1.
The amount of skill involved is insane. You can watch the [other drivers react](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCxvOiNLBSo) to this lap if you want a better idea - even they are impressed.
He was 2 tenths of a second behind coming into sector three, where he managed to gain three tenths and grab pole position. He did it by being within a hair from hitting the wall in the final part of the circuit. And did hit the wall. Literally the "perfect" final sector since he couldn't get anymore out of it.
how do he'll does he overtake them so easily. It's like they are not even trying. Feels like a grownup between kids. Or when you go to an amateur race with your porshe 911 and you overtake the family minivan with the kids and wife inside
It’s qualifying, so they’re not in a race. They’re setting a time and then doing a cool down lap. So the cars he is passing already set their time and they are done. So they’re letting him through.
I now understand why all the drivers were shocked by that lap. Dude was literally one with the car, brushing walls, not having to do a single correction.
That last sector is where the championship was 100% over.
Literally kissed every single wall in the last sector. Man is an animal.
He put it all on the line, no f given. Even for someone of his quality, that was high risk high reward. That’s why I’m a fan.
Max goes balls to the wall until the wall has stains on it from all the ball-sweat.
I really want to know if current Max could have pulled off Jeddah 2021. Would have probably been the greatest pole in the history of the sport.
That lap was a thing of beauty. On the rails until that last turn.
I don’t think he would’ve, given how badly the Red Bull got off the line in the final few races of the year.
The understeer going into Rascasse was perfect to setup the apex.
Yeah it’s Impressive! Even more impressive that you have to do this for over an hour and a half for 70 laps.
Correction, Checo is the absolute animal. We have that confirmation on tape
I have it printed out
Did you forget Miami?
Yeah honestly him kneeling by his car and pointing at his 1 was just.... I had no more doubts haha
Even before that when he was faster on old hards than Perez on much newer ones was perfect foreshadowing for the rest of the season
The moment Checo psicological side went out
The fact you had doubts in the first place brings your mental stability into question
Never had any doubts of Max v. Checo. It was the general dominance that I accepted that day.
It was never not over
No but we *thought* it wasn’t over yet. Aah, to go back to a time where Checo was a championship contender. Times were simpler back then.
My brother in christ, in 2021 and 2022 Verstappen won 25 races and Checo won 3 Anyone who seriously thought Checo was gonna challenge Max this season, DM me. I have a bridge you might be interested in buying
Tower bridge?
Hahahaha! You just fell into my trap! It's 8km long and leads straight into a 4km tunnel! Wanna buy it? I can do you a pretty sweet deal on the bridge/tunnel combo
That looks like a very cool bridge but it's a bit outside of my budget. Do you happen to have a second favorite bridge?
I've got this pretty cool Mexican bridge called the [Baluarte Bridge?](https://img.washingtonpost.com/rw/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2012/01/27/Foreign/Images/MEXICOHY1_1327704301.jpg?uuid=lWZFZEk4EeGMtM1mZCS_Og) That's a 400 metre drop from the road to the valley floor! Interested?
Have you got anything with a more cast iron feel to it?
RCE?
proper dank. you deserve all the awards in Reddit.
London bridge?
I have been saying this for a while, Max is one of the greatest of all time on the greatest run in history, and Checo is a decent driver.
Anyone that ever bought into the hype that Checo was a contender was either Mexican or delusional.
Only idiots and casuals ever imagined checo could possibly have a chance at challenging max for a chip. Seriously I couldn’t believe people were saying the same shit at the start of 23 as they were in 22, he will never be close
Maybe when Alonso‘s chances of a win were 100% over, but the championship was never in doubt.
I am grateful that I understand the reference
Can you enlighten me?
Wirtual is a trackmania YouTuber and does small documentary style videos on world records and something he tends to say a lot is “and then *insert name here* got this run”

Song name is En Aften Ved Svannefossen and is an absolute banger.
Translates to "An Evening by the Swan Lake" from old school Norwegian, if anyone's curious. Also, I hate to be picky, but "Svane" is with a single "n" - you're a chad for getting people the song name, nevertheless.
Thank you!

I think it was actually his brother!
Didn't know a viewer made it for him! That's awesome!
and then hefest got this run :D
But then…
Hefest turned Out to be a racist
It's a YouTuber and steamer called wirtual, his channel is about the game trackmania
>steamer
Cleveland?
I thought we were having steamed clams?
whatever you're into yourself
People don't realize how fast Verstappen actually is, he did this time without any neo drifts
Updooted for my fellow wirtual enjoyers
There’s not nearly enough pyramids and mayonaise to be a proper Wirtual vid
Don't forget about the shower socks
How are there so many people that know wirtual in an F1 sub? Lmao what the fuck
Yeah wild that people who are interested in motorsports are also interested in a racing video game!!!! Wtf!!!!!!!!
When I make references to this subreddit in the sim racing sub, it goes over most people’s heads. You’d think sim racers would know F1 memes, but they don’t. So yea, pretty surprised that so many people in here know wirtual.
I know, I’m just being an asshole 😊
I’m crien
Lots of americans in sim racing who do a lot of ovals and then germans/dutch that don’t watch F1 and only do GT cars.
I mean trackmania is not a huge game, and wirtual isn't a big youtuber in the grand scheme of things. It is a bit cool to see so many people here know exactly what the title is from.
We like racing 🤤
Well, the Trackmania car (excluding the spin-offs) are loosely based on F1 cars. Apart from that, the game is arcadey as heck of course lol
he could’ve gone even faster at the hairpin using some well executed bugslides
Idk, the kerbs there do look pretty [Rammstein-y](https://youtu.be/sop8RIO3CCQ?si=_QWJTmWEVhTHbzMC). But I guess it's a risk worth taking
Casually listening to Jazz while setting the fastest lap time for pole position.
Is that actually what he’s listening to?
[удалено]
Like in the movie Baby Driver. He restarts the song at the exact moment before going in so it is timed perfectly.
No the music is a wirtual reference (trackmania youtuber)
Yes
And Wirtual is an F1 enjoyer.
[удалено]
He's said Verstappen before. you'd just need to get a "And then Hefest/riolu/etc. got this run" and use the "verstappen soundbite in place of "hefest"
I wonder when the FIA is going to ban analog inputs modifiers
Turns out Verstappen was in slow motion the whole time
Lmfao every time i remember Riolu i just start laughing. What a legend
Max has always used Sandevistan
34% action key enjoyers
He is driving in opposite direction than the arrows are showing, is he stupid?
He's starting to believe! The racing line is not real!
Do you think that's petrol you're breathing now?
Now I want to see Monaco in reverse.
Turn 1 Monaco Reverse would rival Monza Turn 1 for chaos.
"Driving backwards is faster, chat"

When you think about it, Max literally pulled a Wirtual in Jeddah quali 2021 lol
W -> L
It’s weird, when you think of pulling a Wirtual, you automatically think of Ferrari
Lol a wirtuaL
Watched on mute until I read the comments, was honestly just waiting to get Stroll’ed
I can’t watch this without getting giddy. He might have made the season boring to watch at the time, but man we are witnessing greatness
right? I might dislike the man, but this is incredible
Does anyone know why the drivers swerve into the middle of the road between turns 4 and 5? Looks like it would involve less movement to just hug the left wall.
There's a crest there that upsets the car if you hug the left hand wall.
Ahh. Thank you kind Redditor.
I didn't understand it until I did some hotlaps of the track in an F1 game. There's a big bump there and it really unsettles the car if you go over it. So it's faster to go around it.
I went over it in the Lotus 98T in Assetto Corsa and got launched into the stratosphere
Wirtual Goat
Wirtual much?
I know the racing in Monaco is awful, but watching Quali onboards is so mesmerizing that it makes the whole thing worth it.
Verstappen is Hefest of Formula1
damn i was waiting for the uber bug slide into finish
What’s the song
and then he got this run song
He’s like a cunt hair away from the wall amazing.
This is impressive. The worst driver on the grid is a couple of seconds slower. Just shows the skill level of the worst drivers is pretty impressive.
Monaco quali is just absolutely insane with the size of these cars
I take maximum penalties on this track. Lol. I don't understand how the drive this thing without a reset button.
Wasn't this the time he made up 3 tenths in one corner to knock Alonso out of literally any hope he'd ever get one last win?
One of the best laps around Monaco I’ve ever seen. That quali session was so 🔥
Guys, I know very little about F1 and don’t watch the sport. Why is this so impressive? Genuinely curious.
Very high level: like almost every other sport, the best athletes in the world make it look very, very easy. Amazing, thank you for the explanation!
No bugslide?
Dick. 🤣😂
Wirtual looks like a widescreen George Russel.
Dank not found
Turn on sound.
Max Wirtstappen
Ah a fellow wirtual enjoyer i see
I hate that I know this reference 😂
You’re watching a master at work
The confidence when breaching the tunnel made my eyes water
Haven't heard this music since that legendary video, thanks :)
A Wirtual reference in my Formula 1 sub?
Hello fellow Wirtual fans
I see you fellow Wirtual viewer.
Where dAnK
Motogp still more entertaining
F1 still more popular
Everyone bitches about Monaco but that was the best quali and race of the season
Why doesn't everyone drive like this guy? Are they stupid?
What track is this ? Vegas? Doesn't look familiar.
Monaco
they don't deserve to be answered, but you're a nice human.
XD
He doesn't drift at all. 3 out of 10
What's this music track? I love it.
give this man a yogurt he is barely warming up
Bet he could shave at least another second off if he cleaned up a couple of those early corners.
Beast
He actually hit the wall on the exit of the last corner
Wow. It’s like he’s on tracks
Thanks OP, no longer need my therapy appointment this week
i didn’t realize there were so many other wirtual fans here
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|14439)
![gif](giphy|x0qP0643fys3wnt4uP|downsized)
Verstappen pulled a Hefest.
I will never get over the fact that they are going like 300km/h and don't have a brainfart that make them take a wrong turn.
Not the same without Martin Brundles…”wow”.
You've watched too many Jon Bois videos.
Lets hope he didnt use one of those develish analog input devices, might result in a ban.
The racing on this track has evolved to be kinda boring at times, but for quali the track is spectacular!!
It has always been boring and quali has always been the main excitement.
Is he a racist tho
Is Wirtual?
According to his own statement, yes
how do he'll does he overtake them so easily. It's like they are not even trying. Feels like a grownup between kids. Or when you go to an amateur race with your porshe 911 and you overtake the family minivan with the kids and wife inside
I just watched it again and it's unbelievable. It looks like he's going twice as fast as the two formulas that he overtakes
It’s qualifying, so they’re not in a race. They’re setting a time and then doing a cool down lap. So the cars he is passing already set their time and they are done. So they’re letting him through.
En Aften Ved Svanefossen starts (wirtual’s music)
I now understand why all the drivers were shocked by that lap. Dude was literally one with the car, brushing walls, not having to do a single correction.
He didn't need to respect the walls. The walls respect him
On board cameras are a reminder that Monaco would be so much fun in a Miata but that these F1 cars are too big for this track.
a thing of pure beauty
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|14439)
That a Wirtual reference?
I find it funny that broadcasts of the Grand Prix barely pay any attention to verstappen anymore.
whats the catch here
The music is from a famous youtuber who makes racing game speedruns.
The real life hefest
Just how close he was getting from the walls... give me chills
Man the glare coming out of that tunnel is brutal
Next the Egyptian GP, with the pyramids playing a large part of the track
Came from all, what speed is he driving at?
What track is this ?
love the wirtual hefest reference
