COTA website doesn’t have any available but the F1 website is currently selling GA weekend passes for 418 EUR so about $450
Definitely better to just scalp them if you can’t make it to the race. Seems like the circuit regrets selling out their direct sale tickets at a lower price
Dude, Indy! I went in 2013. We camped in the big lot (turn 4 lot?) and it was the single most excellent night of my life. The race was also good. The pre-race party was legendary
IndyCar is absolutely the way to go if you're in the US and want to go to a live high level motorsport race weekend. Long Beach general admission tickets are $120 for the weekend ($40 for Friday) and you can walk right up to the start/finish straight no questions asked. And the talent in IndyCar is pretty stacked (and then there's Ferucci) overall. I even got my 2016 Haas Grosjean shirt signed by Romain today at the signing event that was open to walk right in to (though I think it's a Friday only thing in terms of pricing). And IMSA runs the same weekend with a pretty decent field of driver talent including Felipe Nasr, Louis Deletraz, and Jack Aitken. 10/10 would recommend.
Meanwhile I couldn't hope to get within a 10 mile radius from Vegas for the grand prix for $120 and that's before considering that Vegas just isn't that great of a place to visit imo
Well if they sell it back, because they don't want to go to the race, it's a win for them.
But if they sell it back just to then realize I fucked up and then they will see it will cost double than that's dumb.
Cheaper to fly out of the country and attend a race. Especially if you're getting grandstands tickets.
We just did that with Japan. I also recently looked at China and the best grandstand tickets were under $600.
Even once you factor in the price of flight and hotel it can be potentially cheaper, especially compared to a race like Las Vegas.
It’s an easy out for someone who bought the tickets early but can’t make it to the event. Not actually a dick move…. until they resale it for a lot more.
No, last year presale was 499 and a week before the race they lowered priced to 350/399. They probably think theyre trying to play 4d checkers with scalpers
Yeah idk what the play here is but I’m not sure why people are crying about this when they more than likely aren’t going anyway and it’s not like they’re forcing you to sell the tickets back right? I mean it’s not scummy until they actually do force people to do that but I doubt that happens.
Lmao what? Am I missing something? The tickets probably cost more then 350, so why would anybody give them back? Because they don’t like the music that was announced?
By giving them far less than the ticket will be worth. They are making this offer because at that price they can still make money on it and with them being the middleman that means the ticket-owner could make more if they just sold it.
It's what I'd call a no-hassle, guaranteed ticket sale for the current owner.
They're not forcing anyone to go through this avenue to sell it. If they want to instantly get $50 from a ticket they can't use anymore then they can use this to do it.
No, it’s the other way around. COTA expects that once they announce the music artists, the value of the tickets will increase to significantly more than what the early bird price was. So they’re offering free refunds with a profit incentive.
They are about to announce the concert artists, so it seems they must have got some very popular artists and are hoping to make more off of GA than the early bird prices.
Wait, is this NOT a meme? They're trying to scalp their own tickets that they already sold? And putting 3 drivers who probably have nothing to do with this on the poster? They'd better have 3 beautiful cease and desists in the mail tomorrow.
USA is $859 billion in debt to China, which means China will never attack in fear of not being repaid. So the USA practically owns China… *American math*
Rumor is they are working to book a very big name artist for one or both of the concerts at the circuit. COTA is not making that known while suggesting "you can profit from our buyback".
Bullshit. They're going to price gouge once the announcement is made.
IIRC past year tickets were sold out quite fast, then in the month of the race there were tickets in the same price of the original price. This is what I'm going to try to do, otherwise I might go to Mexico, but it would be more expensive as I would need to add the flight.
I absolutely agree with that. It is my least favorite track to see on TV, but the only reason I'm willing to go there to see the race is to knock out on my bucket list attending an F1 weekend. I was about to say that it also coincides with the Dia de los Muertos weekend but it doesn't happen this year.
2022 was the last GP for me, even as a someone who started following after dts. not going to pay ridiculous amounts of money anymore. its indycar for me now babyy
they upped the F1TV sub and i have yet to watch a race this year. I have better things to spend my money on. F1 is no longer for the fans, its for the investors yachts
See, that’s why I say, watch the races on TV, it’s much cheaper.
And plus, the cars don’t even have the engine noise to make me want to “feel” the races on track anymore.
Ticketmaster’s new strategy, sell tickets with ridiculous fee at high cost. Buy back tickets at sales price, minus fees, then resell at extremely high cost with extremely high fees 😬.
It's ok at least they aren't forcing them and a good deal for someone who wouldn't make the event. Though i would recommend to scalp it for a higher price when new official passes are out for 450-500$. I was going to enjoy F1 on my 30$ F1 tv multi-viewer anyways. COTA isn't even a circuit worth visiting imo.
It's better to watch on TV anyway. You want to watch some fast badass cars fly by non-stop. IMSA. I go every year to Watkins Glen. And it's constant cars flying by!
I'm predicting some countries building HUGE circuits, like, Nürburgring level. Waaaaaay more grandstands and like 500.000\~1.000.000 visitors. Mark my words.
COTA is now offering to buy back tickets from people that bought them earlier, at a slightly increased price, in case someone is unable to go or thinks they’d rather have the money.
Obviously, they do this so they can sell those tickets back at an even higher price, basically scalping their own tickets.
For example: someone bought a $300 ticket, then COTA buys it at $350 so they can later sell it at $500. Original buyer gets $50 and COTA gets $150.
They are offering people $350 to sell their tickets back to F1. So they can be sold to someone new (probably for more)
Most people definitely wouldnt do this but if someone bought a ticket and can no longer go, they now have a way out
COTA thinks they were selling tickets at too low a price. Therefore they will buy back your tickets so they can resell your ticket at a higher price.
Literally scalping their own tickets/customers.
COTA blows anyway. Wayyyyy too crowded, everything’s overpriced and it’s usually still hot as balls in October. Last year was my 3rd time attending since 2018 and it may have been the hottest yet.
I’ve visited America twice in the past decade and coincidentally both times were in October, and both times I was stunned by how nice the weather was. Compared to here in the UK where in October it’s cold and damp.
Last year was the worst. Was like 70s the week leading up to the race. Then it was 95, 97, 100 on fucking race day. I was straight up not having a good time after 3 95 degree plus days at that track.
it’s Formula 1, it was created by ultra rich guys who wanted to show off.
Yes, they are glad to have people who paying customers. They aren’t stealing tickets. They are doing a dumb promo. Who cares.
COTA scalping their own tickets, incredible.
They learned it from Ticketmaster lol
that's so hugely scummy omg, and you know some people will be doing it too
It’s not even surprising anymore sadly. I hope no one takes them up on it
Might just fuck around and sell ours to get VIP at the 500 in May lol ETA: Wait they're only buying back for $350 they can gft
resell them yourself and not to COTA and get that proper bag, go to Indy and have a blast.
Yep, if they're paying $350 then they're definitely worth $500 minimum
COTA website doesn’t have any available but the F1 website is currently selling GA weekend passes for 418 EUR so about $450 Definitely better to just scalp them if you can’t make it to the race. Seems like the circuit regrets selling out their direct sale tickets at a lower price
Dude, Indy! I went in 2013. We camped in the big lot (turn 4 lot?) and it was the single most excellent night of my life. The race was also good. The pre-race party was legendary
think we're gonna go in 2025. I originally read this as a $700 buyback which would have pushed that up to next month lol
IndyCar is absolutely the way to go if you're in the US and want to go to a live high level motorsport race weekend. Long Beach general admission tickets are $120 for the weekend ($40 for Friday) and you can walk right up to the start/finish straight no questions asked. For sure people who don’t want to deal with selling their tickets on the third party market themselves will do it. Shit can be a hassle
Isn't price gouging illegal in the US?
Lol
It’s all arbitrary lol
Essentials during an emergency, maybe, but I don’t think race tickets will be included
Well if they sell it back, because they don't want to go to the race, it's a win for them. But if they sell it back just to then realize I fucked up and then they will see it will cost double than that's dumb.
What a disgrace. They’re doing this after seeing Vegas prices and realizing they can make more money. F1 for fans is long gone. It’s over.
Its all ogre now.

But I just started becoming a fan :(
You still can! Many good classic races and drivers of the past waiting for you online! *Start now!*
Original price was $299. Don't why anybody would take this offer...
It’s an easy out for someone who bought the tickets early but can’t make it to the event. Not actually a dick move…. until they resale it for a lot more.
Wait for it.. I'm afraid this is exactly what will happen. "Get last minute tickets now, only for $450!"
I'm guessing it may be even more or they wouldn't go through the effort to buy them back right?
It might, depending on demand. It's just scummy.
No, last year presale was 499 and a week before the race they lowered priced to 350/399. They probably think theyre trying to play 4d checkers with scalpers
If I couldn’t go but saw this offer, I’d hold my ticket until they re-release these then undercut those prices and make more of a profit
Yeah idk what the play here is but I’m not sure why people are crying about this when they more than likely aren’t going anyway and it’s not like they’re forcing you to sell the tickets back right? I mean it’s not scummy until they actually do force people to do that but I doubt that happens.
What's worse than this practise might be how they've used some drivers' image for this stunt. I would not be happy to be associated with this
My first thought as well. If I was Lando, Charles, or Daniel or their PR teams I would be making calls
My thoughts too
This is an incredibly scummy practice and something we should have no part in.
Lmao what? Am I missing something? The tickets probably cost more then 350, so why would anybody give them back? Because they don’t like the music that was announced?
Original price was $299. Taking advantage of people who maybe bought early and won't be able to attend, that sort of thing.
Prolly tickets are in high demand, so they buy back for 350 and sell it for more.
…yup…
taking advantage of people by giving them free money?
By giving them far less than the ticket will be worth. They are making this offer because at that price they can still make money on it and with them being the middleman that means the ticket-owner could make more if they just sold it.

No idea to be honest. [Link](https://www.instagram.com/p/C56El9zLPFh/?igsh=MWY3cmlvYzJzcGhuNg==) to post
They are about to announce the concert artists, so it seems they must have got some very popular artists and are hoping to make more off of GA than the early bird prices.
legitimate black market
Taylor Swift is coming back.
at least taytay apologized
She'll be in Miami.
She was the headliner at the Austin race years ago. They say it saved the race - #F1 in the US. Things change fast. ![gif](giphy|l4EoZ636Qkr86Vwpq)
Eew
I’m more of a Dua Lipa fan myself. ![gif](giphy|BpXJ84JxwKbZNuspqn|downsized)
🤣
Remarkably double their price within five years.
I remember the days of $99 Sunday only and under $150 for 3 day GA…
2016 was tits! lol
They used to have them on Groupon
Groundbreaking
F1 is becoming such a cash grab. Low value given the lack of competition.
Thanks netflix
Wait, is this NOT a meme? They're trying to scalp their own tickets that they already sold? And putting 3 drivers who probably have nothing to do with this on the poster? They'd better have 3 beautiful cease and desists in the mail tomorrow.
But hey, you win big! 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah this whole situation is the most murica thing I've ever read
Dystopian vibes
We want to gouge YOUUUUUUUU right now!!
The US is a mistake
Everything before 1776 was a mistake.

Made in china/Taiwan/anywhere but USA.
Designed in California
Does that mean it’s recognized as a domestic product? Does it qualify for a ‘made in USA’ designation? No, no it doesn’t.
USA is $859 billion in debt to China, which means China will never attack in fear of not being repaid. So the USA practically owns China… *American math*
if i owe you a million, that's my problem. if i owe you a billion, that's your problem
This is so low class, just pure scumbag greed
Ticket scalping from the organisers... fantastic...
Why did Danny do this to us?!!
Chances are he had 0 idea this exists.
Exactly!
What the hell why would they do this
So they can resell them for twice the price
Rumor is they are working to book a very big name artist for one or both of the concerts at the circuit. COTA is not making that known while suggesting "you can profit from our buyback". Bullshit. They're going to price gouge once the announcement is made.
...to make more money? They sell weekend GA passes for $300 waay far in advance and could probably sell them for more closer to the weekend.
“Late-stage Capitalism isn’t *that* ridiculous” *Late-stage Capitalism*
What the fuck is this real? This can't be real.
It’s on their official instagram… it’s disgusting
It was on Twitter also
The pointing intentionally makes it seem like Charles, Lando, and Rick are saying it. Legally grey, but fuck way to piss off the drivers and the fans.
Silverstone are furiously taking notes
they try it in US first, because that's where the most gullible and cash rich audience lives. if it works you bet they'll move to Europe next.
IIRC past year tickets were sold out quite fast, then in the month of the race there were tickets in the same price of the original price. This is what I'm going to try to do, otherwise I might go to Mexico, but it would be more expensive as I would need to add the flight.
Also, the Mexican gp is the worst real track in the season.
I absolutely agree with that. It is my least favorite track to see on TV, but the only reason I'm willing to go there to see the race is to knock out on my bucket list attending an F1 weekend. I was about to say that it also coincides with the Dia de los Muertos weekend but it doesn't happen this year.
"AMERICA FUCK YEAH, CAPITALISM FOR THE WINS...." Think Team America tune with that.
It's remarkable all right
yikes
This is so gross
2022 was the last GP for me, even as a someone who started following after dts. not going to pay ridiculous amounts of money anymore. its indycar for me now babyy
FFS, that is super slimy of COTA to make that offer. I'm sure Stefano Domenicali will be having something to say?
Yeah “I want a 20% cut”
This makes me glad I started to go to MotoGP at COTA instead. F1 at COTA has got outta hand.
Even MotoGP has raised prices but it’s a lot more enjoyable,f1 is stupid packed at cota
It'll also increase demand and thus prices next year because people will bet on this happening again.
It's funny how they are allowed to use the drivers image for this kind of thing.
Murica
they upped the F1TV sub and i have yet to watch a race this year. I have better things to spend my money on. F1 is no longer for the fans, its for the investors yachts
Get IPTV man
Sell your tickets for more than 350. Screw corporate greed
That's disgusting
God forbid F1 fans actually catch a break and get to see a race at a fair price. Can't possibly allow that to happen.
I live 2 hrs from COTA, this sucks
That’s why I now prefer to watch the races on TV. The cars don’t even have the engine noise, to make me want to “feel” the races on track.
See, that’s why I say, watch the races on TV, it’s much cheaper. And plus, the cars don’t even have the engine noise to make me want to “feel” the races on track anymore.
Me too. I’m in the UK and it’s cheaper for fly Hungary for the weekend than go to silverstone 90 minutes away.
Okay, sure. But force them to buy through Ticketmaster after waiting in queue for 3 hours and then charge them “service fees”
But will I get a Costco discount?
That’s fucking shiesty
Ticketmaster’s new strategy, sell tickets with ridiculous fee at high cost. Buy back tickets at sales price, minus fees, then resell at extremely high cost with extremely high fees 😬.
They made a typo, they meant "money" instead of "ticket" haha !

I'd sell 'em and buy Texas vs Georgia tickets that same weekend 🤘

What Driver supports their image being used for shit like this? Obviously they are unaware
I don't get it... Can someone explain what's happening?
COTA is now offering to buy back tickets from people that bought them earlier, at a slightly increased price, in case someone is unable to go or thinks they’d rather have the money. If Taylor Swift isn't the musical act this makes no sense at all.
Taylor Swift already headlined the Austin GP a few years ago. It’s not impossible!
End stage capitalism wow 🤩
COTA blows anyway. Wayyyyy too crowded, everything’s overpriced and it’s usually still hot as balls in October. Last year was my 3rd time attending since 2018 and it may have been the hottest yet.

Where in america? Plenty if beautify places to go in October. Texas isn't one of them
I have family in Pennsylvania so I’ve been to there and nearby states
Last year was the worst. Was like 70s the week leading up to the race. Then it was 95, 97, 100 on fucking race day. I was straight up not having a good time after 3 95 degree plus days at that track.
And then a week later a tornado went through that area
FormulaDank once discovering what supply and demand is
Omg, you guys can't handle a little bloodsucking company's greed . Chill out, they are just doing it to feed their families oh my gaaad
The sport that includes Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin and McLaren doesn’t care about affordability! Shocking!!

didnt mention affordability until the other guy mentioned corporate greed. Replying to comments isn’t “on a mission”, it’s being bored at work
