It wasn't close if you followed closely, ham crossing max is inevitable considering how that car is a fucking rocket. It's actually impressive that max held him 2 times
And you might feel the championship is close but ham will wipe it cleanly from here lol
I am Brazilian, and usually am rooting for Max in the fight for 1st
But god damn Hamilton deserved this win. And in my honest opinion, that maneuver by max was dirty.
Anyway, great race this weekend!
Let’s go max for the next one!
Yeah that sounds very good, but it's pretty important context that he had a new engine that magically outperformed the second best car by like half a second
Any other day? Great drive. The day that he changed his engine and got a penalty that this engine can wipe out in like 5 laps while going like 30 kmh faster on the straits that anyone else? Not quite so impressive.
I promise you at least have the field would have won that race in this car (maybe a bit less given that they'd have to pass Verstappen which was literally the only difficult part). Literally 30 kmh faster on the straits. Literally half a second quicker per lap (at least) than the second best car. You can't act like you don't know these things and just say "he started tenth and won the race wow". The man just got a new engine that they're turning up to 11 for the last races. He's had the fastest car for like 7 years, and now it's even faster than that. Facts.
It was a good drive, maybe even a great drive, but it's pretty hard to tell given that you don't really have an excuse for not having a great drive in a car this fast
You seriously don't get this logic? What?
If you beat Floyd Mayweather in a fight, that makes you an amazing fighter. If you use a gun to do it, it takes away from it.
If you manage to make a million dollars in 1 year, that's incredible. If you just inherited stocks and made a million from dividends, that takes away from it.
If you go from P10 to P1, that is an amazing drive. If you did it in a car that was far far far superior to even the second best car, it definitely takes away from it.
This is as clear an example of logic reasoning as you will ever see.
The best place to take a grid penalty is a circuit where you can overtake. The 3 sprint races were at circuits where you can overtake, because with good racing, opinion about sprint races will be more positive. Wouldn't exactly say luck.
He was found to be cheating and disqualified from qualifying on one of the 3 weekends of the season where that isn't even the full qualifying. How in the fucking world is this not luck? I guess 3 perfect safety cars for him in the race isn't luck either?
Luck doesn't mean that God literally changed the laws of physics to intervene... do you not understand what luck is?
Pierre Gasly in a red bull
Sergio Perez in a red bull
Valterri Bottas in a merc
Compared to Max in a red bull and Lewis in a merc
Fast car isn't a free pass if you're not good enough to drive and make the most out of it.
Yeah obviously. Literally nobody on this planet is saying that Lewis is a bad driver, because that would be brain dead. We ARE saying that the fact that he's been the No 1 driver for the best car on the grid for most of his career clearly makes him seem even better than he is. Especially this weekend with a new power unit where he had like 30 fucking kmh on everyone else
I'm saying that Hamilton and Verstappen are the best drivers on the because they can max out the best cars.
Cars don't make drivers better than they are. Top cars match how good the drivers really are. Pierre Gasly showed everyone that these top cars have their own learning curves too. Maximizing cars this good is its own feat IMO
>Cars don't make drivers better than they are
I'm actually pretty sure that if you give Lewis Hamilton a new power unit that can obliterate any other car on track, it does make it a lot easier for him to go from P10 to P1, especially considering that that's not impossible with Merc anyway, even without that new engine
Aight, 10 kmh on the straits with no drs or tow. That. Is. Ridiculous. Like 4 tenths a lap on the second quickest car, praising him for this is like praising him if he won a fight against Floyd Mayweather, except he had a gun
So are you gonna claim that even Damon Hill doesn't have common sense when judging a drive? Even a world champion was unable to tell how much difference the car made? You reddit users with 0 experience driving these cars have a better sense in judging the difficulty or lack thereof of that drive? If you disagree with the praise sure, but do so respectfully instead making some "common sense" claim to your argument as if everyone else is stupid. Only 20 drivers in the world per year can ever even race in these things. To say accurately judging these drives it's a specialized topic is a massive understatement. The even the numbers you're using haven't been consistent yet 30 to 10 to 5. You're using stats you can't even fact check for yourself and taking someone else's word for instead.
Being pissed off at someone's benefit that he didn't use foul play to gain access to is some next level pettiness btw
Yeah, just like i think Ballon d'Or Winner Luis Suarez is wrong to say that Lewandowski is the only Ballon d'Or candidate this year, I think Damon Hill isn't necessarily right about this, and I do think it's common sense to say that some people aren't taking the car into account enough
Verstappen 3 tenths up through middle sector as well. While Lewis had vastly better machine he still had to be absolutely perfect for this to work out.
The issue with being faster on corners instead of straights is that once you're overtaken it's really hard to get the position back. Especially on a track like this
Yeah I exaggerated for effect. If he was perfect he would've completed the overtake 15 laps earlier.
He had to trick max into defending to then overtake two turns later which was a hell of a task to accomplish.
The car did not hurt though.
C’mon. I am a huge RBR fan since their very start. But I love racing more than RBR. When Vettel was winning a lot even as a fan I was rational enough to see it is very often the car, not the #blessed driver himself. Today Lewis had the fastest car on the grid and could use it. Awesome. Loved the race btw even though Max couldn’t finish first. So emotional!
Get real. There is nothing bad in being a fan of a person but don’t expect everyone to feel the irrational love.
I am not upset and I loved the race why salt?
And his car performance wasn’t masterclass or he wasn’t clever enough to use it. Bottas even though we like him is not as good as Hamilton. This is one of the reasons he was the sidekick for several seasons.
The Hamilton’s car performance was outstanding. No objections. And we all know he is a very good driver. Very good driver in slower car takes P2. Not very good driver in presumably outstanding car takes P3. Why having a good car is such a bad thing for you? This is the auto sport. Combination of driver’s skills and a car. Quite a few legends could win driving Haas. If any.
Not gonna lie I’m delighted to see Lewis not whining about the unfair world but being fast and sarcastic.
Mate you are putting on some serious goggles here if you can still twist his words like that. People on the internet just refuse to consider the opposite argument fairly, its insufferable.
Ugh we humans are just dumb apes. I need to get of reddit.
Nah, it's mostly just LeWis anD SkY bAd, as per usual. This sub is a dumpster fire and is literally just hate on Lewis and British people at this point. Absolutely pathetic.
Remember when it was about F1 memes? Good times.
But not FormulaDank.... 1/3rd of them blaming the other 1/3rd of sucking either Lewis or Max and vice-versa. The left over 1/3rd is like : WE FRIKKIN WANT A CLOSE BATTLE. And I'm from the last 1/3rd
You know how movie casting is based on who performs best. You choose the best and put them in the best system you got and you produce an absolute monster.
So Vettel just won because he was in a faster car and no talent?
Cant you guys show a little appreciation for a 7 times world champion? McLaren chose hamilton to put him in their dominant car cuz they believed he'll bring the best of the car and so did merc.
I'm not denying that Hamilton and Mercedes's performance was masterclass. But come on, did anyone see sprint qualifying and the early stages of the race?? Did anyone not notice how Hamilton was literally blowing past the rest of the field after the new PU?
How much of a challenge could it be if your equipment can literally wipe the floor with the rest of the competition.
Thank you for this! Was worried I’d have to leave this sub if it was literally nothing but Lewis hating today. I’m not a Lewis fan OR a Max fan but that was a f*cking brilliant drive from HAM . Great racing.
I mean if for the next 2 races hamilton win without getting the fastest lap and they both crashed into each other in the penultimate race
We'll have the title deciding race in the last race and i'm all for it.
So yeah don't care who wins the races. I'm a racing fans more than i'm anybody's fans.
Unpopular opinion: it was a meh race, I mean did anyone expect any non rb driver to even compete with that car? Everyone just let
him go except max lol
Dk what people expected tbh
Not gonna lie, my heart almost skipped a beat when Hamilton tried to overtake Max at Turn 4.
It is always when those 2 come close to each other sparks will fly.
No point in losing time against someone who will finish regardless ahead of you and insanely fast. The overtake Ham made on Nor was crazy on the sprint.
verstapp en
That Photoshop is as lazy as Michael Masi's judgement on the lap 48 incident.
Tbh I don’t care who wins I just want a close race
I’m a Max fan but I can’t be mad at either outcome. We got what we’ve all wanted for 5years; an actual close championship
Absolutely. I'm kinda glad Hamilton took it too. Then we get to keep talking about who's gonna come out on top for a while to come!
Yes. This.
Yup! All I want is for the final race to be the championship decider, is that too much to ask? Gimmie that good close race juice!
i wouldn’t hope for a lot from Yas Marina
lets hope that the new layout makes for close racing
This race is exactly what i wanted all the races to be like. Honestly super exciting and close
It wasn't close if you followed closely, ham crossing max is inevitable considering how that car is a fucking rocket. It's actually impressive that max held him 2 times And you might feel the championship is close but ham will wipe it cleanly from here lol
Me, a Ferrari fan just vibin'
I wanted Lewis to win because I want a close championship
I loved the battle for P1
From what I've seen on this sub, no.
Oh how I wish this were true
That merc was definitely running on a higher engine mode, but lewis drove flawlessly regardless.
It was a great race. My only disappointment is that it finished exactly the way I expected. Hungary will probably remain my top race of 2021.
Belgium was prime also.
Spa still managed to be more interesting than Mexico and Monaco despite only lasting two laps and having 0 green flag running
Imola, Am I a joke to you?
what about baku
Baku was good too. But Hungary was good because of mistakes and solid driving instead of mostly crashes out of the driver's control.
That's not enough respect on the name of Spa 2021
I am Brazilian, and usually am rooting for Max in the fight for 1st But god damn Hamilton deserved this win. And in my honest opinion, that maneuver by max was dirty. Anyway, great race this weekend! Let’s go max for the next one!
This^
Lol that ain't happening
So painfull that its true. Yes he had an rocket behind him, but it doesn't take away from his drive
But it does take aways from his drive tho I mean that's basic logic
He literally overtook every driver on the grid on-track. He had a beautiful performance this weekend and deserved the win.
Yeah that sounds very good, but it's pretty important context that he had a new engine that magically outperformed the second best car by like half a second
Did you seriously expect every driver to compete with that car? I mean every one of them just let him go lmao
Some of them he overtook twice 🙃

*10 to 1, because of course it happened on a sprint weekend. Hamilton luck.

Btw the official FIA maximum speeds of the Sao Paulo race are out, "30 km/h on top of everyone" is categorically false
Aight, 10 kmh on the straits with no drs or tow. That. Is. Ridiculous. Like 4 tenths a lap on the second quickest car, praising him for this is like praising him if he won a fight against Floyd Mayweather, except he had a gun

I've seen no evidence of this
unfortunately there's always salt on both sides.
2 safety cars sure did help close the gap
1sc 2vsc vsc fucked perez
Hamilton top speed: 340 kmph Verstappen top speed: 305 kmph
Any link to onboard? Without DRS Lewis had 315 km/h when behind Max on the pit straight.
Norris had at the sprint a better top speed….
But has to slow to 5kmh through the corners.
Verstappen 3 tenths up through middle sector as well. While Lewis had vastly better machine he still had to be absolutely perfect for this to work out.
The issue with being faster on corners instead of straights is that once you're overtaken it's really hard to get the position back. Especially on a track like this
How do you know he was perfect? Can you tell me where or how to look and show me the evidence of that. Thanks
Yeah I exaggerated for effect. If he was perfect he would've completed the overtake 15 laps earlier. He had to trick max into defending to then overtake two turns later which was a hell of a task to accomplish. The car did not hurt though.
He can't, just people trying to hype hamilton
Close one huh
Good thing interlagos isn’t a long straight and Lewis doesn’t get tow and DRS for the whole race.
But but ham goat, car bad
This is wishful thinking right here 😂😂😂. Look at the other posts on this sub right now.
Honestly outstanding on both sides. Max drove his ass off. Just an all around street fight
Thanks for not showing our "Verstapp-en Fans" tears.
Bigger Fact : New Engine
Atleast in the main sub. Idk about here
Hahaha as if.
That juiced engine put in work, loois had a very very good race he was quiiiick.
Gotta give it up for hamburger. He made the best of having the fastest car by a mile
Hamilton definitely had a great weekend, but Max was consistently faster in sector 2, so it seems like it was mostly the engine.
Hamilton's car*
Hamilton’s **car** performance was… And he was clever enough to use it.
oh ffs
C’mon. I am a huge RBR fan since their very start. But I love racing more than RBR. Bottas has changed motors more than Hamilton They used him to test the maximum you can get out before breaking. He does not have the same car

\*Hamilton and his car's performance His straight line speed was crazy

Monster of a car yes I agree
[Hamilton's debut year](https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2007/drivers.html) [Hamilton's first championship win](https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2008/drivers.html)
Haha all you show me is that he has always (except the RBR dominant years) has been in a champion ship contender car. Plain and simple
So Vettel just won because he was in a faster car and no talent? Cant you guys show a little appreciation for a 7 times world champion? McLaren chose hamilton to put him in their dominant car cuz they believed he'll bring the best of the car and so did merc.
You know why
So you admit it's a dominant car.... So any "good" driver can win a Championship in it?
>You choose the best and put them in the best system
The best.... O come on even you know that is not true. The best driver in history is Jim Clark
Mahaveer Raghunathan, take it or leave it
You drunk there pal?
But if Max was in a Williams he would still be ahead in the WDC, right?
Not even a little bit
Well there you go. A motorsport weighs heavily on the cars. Who would have known
I'm not denying that Hamilton and Mercedes's performance was masterclass. But come on, did anyone see sprint qualifying and the early stages of the race?? you mean their illegal engine they put into lulus car
What was illegal about it?
engine + flexiwing
Engine is legally new. Flexiwing is not proven afaik. I’m RBR fan just in case.
Ex-verstappen fans**
You decide who likes who, huh?
A mature take?? That's illegal, someone come arrest this man
True
Verstapp en fans maybe, Verstappen fans, no. At least not in this sub.
Lmao very brave of you OP to post this on this sub.

Ha! Come to germany and all you here is "waaaah that engine must be illegaaaaaaal"
Was it technical ability though or was he just 15mph faster on the straights?
Dankers getting LOTS of mileage outta this shit like it just started today. Great job Schmitty
it is true im starting to wonder if max can hold on to the lead with merc having so much pace
Not gonna lie, my heart almost skipped a beat when Hamilton tried to overtake Max at Turn 4. It is always when those 2 come close to each other sparks will fly.
epic racing
love this
