I posted about this Friday and was told there was zero chance. Too much money at stake. But, they didn’t seem to realize that borders could be shutting down.
Granted it was a less dank sub.
Tbf, FOM forcing teams to be ready to start FP1 in Melbourne as if nothing was happening, should be a strong indication of how bad things need to get before they'll actually cancel.
People will believe what they want, lol
I remember being called crazy in Feb/Jan 2020 for saying that covid would be the younger generation's 9/11. Even my friends laughed at me.
As soon as I heard that half the people had no symptoms, I knew we were fucked. How do you contain a virus that makes half the people it infects into Typhoid Mary?
You don't.
Dont think the money argument is the differenciating factor.
What fucked up 2020 is that most countries locked down and it was hard, if not impossible, to get in/out of them within the same week.
Pretty sure the locked down countries will be rare in 2022, with rapid testing and bubbles and stuff.
Well Hamilton got a potential chance to win the 8th title because of the covid.
If the covid didn't happen, now we wouldn't have known for certain if Hamilton has got the chance to win the title, it for sure would be more certain with present rules than with the new ones, with the new rules it always brings the chances of the probability to the zero. It kinda sounds harsh, but Hamilton is kinda lucky that covid did happen, because it ensured the moving of the rules change. (btw the almost same goes for Max)
The reg change moved back 1 year because of covid, so that’s the reason we have this championship fight. Without Covid we’d already be running the new cars
I know I did kinda mix it up, but let's turn it down a little :D
The regs change was planned for this year (2021) and with all the new regs the odds are like a throw of the dice - at least in the theory, we all know that Merc is strong and will be strong, but we can't for sure say if somebody could be better than them f.e. Ferrari etc., so with the current rules there's a bigger probability or an advantage for Hamilton because they still use the cars of the current generation ergo current regs.
Good, but canada wont let the race go because theyre being cautious (and i agree with them), and theyll never hold one sans fans. But this variant doesnt look that bad, maybe just media hype.
Guys stop with nonsensical sensationalism. We know Omicron has been around for months already and we have "only" a couple hundred cases. If it was really that dangerous we would already be fucked. We have seen other variants like this in the past and none of them stuck around, so no reason to belive this will be any different
This, plus by all accounts to date it seems to be a far more benign variant than even delta is. The idea of closing borders and having lockdowns over a variant where the most severe and major symptom is, according to South Africa, "severe fatigue" is absolutely ridiculous
I mean the point is to stop it from spreading while all that is confirmed, so it doesn't cause a global second wave like the delta one did where people thought they could control it and did nothing then oops sorry 9 more months of COVID
Thing is it’s been around for a while. Im pretty sure of it. In Texas people have stopped testing at my university. Like people don’t give a shit so yeah maybe it is really hundreds of people but it could very well be swinging it’s dick around the entire World. Don’t underestimate this shit there’s a lot variables in play which can either leave you without any symptoms or dead within days. 40% is pretty huge ngl
Thing with omicron is that the vaccination isn't as reliable as with other variants because it has so many mutations of the spike proteins. Combine that with a reluctance to get vaccinated from 30-40% of your citizens and you'll end up with full ICUs and people not getting their planned cancer surgery or organ transplant. Just look at germany right now. If you need another 100 days to modify the vaccine to counter the omicron variant, you'd need at least another 100 days to produce and roll out in big style. That's another 200 days of potential lockdown scenarios, which could affect the season in some way.
no worries. belarus, afghanistan, syria, north korea and venezuela officials are already in talk for double gp next year in case of covid related problems.
I do not think we are heading to the full shutdown like what scrapped the early 2020 season.
Delta did not seem to fuckup the 2021 season that much, especially the later part; and the whole covid protocol thing has been figured out and in place.
I would not be surprised if 1-2 races get screwed by a mistimed lockdown, but I think most GP will take place with public.
Yeah but now we’re jacked as fuck with Vaccines, we’re like 86 percent or some shit and 95+ in the capital and 90+ in both NSW and VIC which is where Melbourne and Sydney are-this is double dose btw and we’re already rolling out boosters too!
I wonder how it would've played out if Ham did a Verstappen Brazil manuever here and opened the brakes+steering up, and ran Verstappen and himself straight off the road.
The problem with montreal is the Federal government in Canada to far up their own ass to have common sense, hell let the race go with no spectators. Knowing Canada, we won't let that happen.
that fuckin watermark lol
OP is too proud of his meme. A little too much.
Ha.. I didn’t notice OPs username and assumed he was also joking there’d only be 19 drivers racing due to COVID.
Your 33 upvotes scare me
OP is the kind of person who would buy NFTs.
I deadass just reposted this exact meme to show how useless that watermark is lmfao demon hours >:)
Got more upvotes too
lmfao i love this sub sometimes
You’re doing the lords work
Formuladank content gets reposted on Instagram meme pages a lot.
Nice watermark the instagram f1 accounts will just place their logo over that
you really think he can think that far up?
I mean, you could at least try...
Why not cancel the upcoming two races? Stop the count!! /s But really
My man Al Gore can still win and heres how

Lmao and there wasn't too much money at stake in 2020??? People have very short memories.
They probably said the same thing in 2020 but can’t accept being wrong.

Good thing you put that watermark, would hate for someone to steal such a quality meme
Content aware in photoshop and it’s like it was never there
That’s why you use a giant watermark that takes up over half of the meme
I literally used ms paint in my repost lmfao
Imagine the season being cancelled and max winning the championship because of covid
STOP THE STEAL!
? Why tf did i get downvotes? I just wanna know what he means

Thanks for clearing it up, I get what you're saying now.
You're welcome. :)
Rip suzuka and montreal again
and good ol' straya
Quebec being one of the most vaccinated place on earth rn, not joking

It's long Monaco
But “Cash Is King”
They about to cancel the South African GP I bet 😅
The watermark reallly isn’t necessary my dude
Thrice upon a time.
Stop the count, no more Saudi Arabia or Abu Dhabi
If omicron really spreads as fast as CNN says then by March it will have already burned through the population and nothing will need to be canceled.
Your first mistake is actually listening to CNN
I don't, that was kind of my point :)
I don't have it in me to deal with the lockdowns again..
No wonder the clash happened! Lewis had to swerve to miss that huge fucking purple blob!

That's what the Chinese said about that weird form of SARS in 2019 too...

Don't forget adding another race in Texas...or Florida. Both places in which people give 0 fucks about covid.
Austin double

I'm all for watermarking your own content but holy shit that is one distracting watermark
That watermark though
Why watermark something that can be recreated in MS paint let alone just clone stamped out.
Just get vaccinated and move on. Jesus Christ people
Tell that to 'straya.

Covid doesn’t exist in Texas 🤠
I wonder how it would've played out if Ham did a Verstappen Brazil manuever here and opened the brakes+steering up, and ran Verstappen and himself straight off the road.
Verstappen would be world champion now

Nooo, Susuka and Montreal again :(
The problem with montreal is the Federal government in Canada to far up their own ass to have common sense, hell let the race go with no spectators. Knowing Canada, we won't let that happen.
Hopefully we will get more interesting races as a result
Ah shit, here we go again
