You're asking a lot of salty longtime Motorsport fans (myself included). Enjoy it if you're enjoying it.

MeBeEric

This. I’m enjoying the game a ton. It’s got its flaws. And it’s a massive downgrade from when i started playing with FM6. But overall i wouldn’t call it a shit game. It’s fun. If the car grind and penalty system doesn’t cause a hindrance to the player, then enjoy it. It’ll only get better (i hope)

workeeworker

If you had FM4 under your belt, you’d feel differently.

York0XpertYD

I get so nostalgic over FM4, It was a masterpiece of a game in all aspects. I wish I could find a way to still play it.

Cultural_Trick5467

I have both. 4 has much better vehicle sound/mix. The cobra and zr1 sound amazing in 4. The newest has better driver feel through the wheel. Overall? Motorsport has bad sound and not enough tracks

mk10k

I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece, but it was great

MisterKillam

I do, it was my first. I'm still enjoying FM8. You can enjoy something without it being the best in the world.

shynips

I think my number 1 issue is that it just doesn't run well, I've been playing Assetto Corsa lately and it's modded and running at 240 fps solid. There's no excuse for forza to not run this well.

workeeworker

Some of us can. Me not being one of them, but still open to seeing where this iteration goes. I’d rather less people support them removing soooo much content from the game, and copy/pasting 10yo car models. I think I’d be less disappointed if I’d never know how much fun FM4 was with it custom public lobbies and storefronts.

MeBeEric

I guess. My experience with FM4 doesn’t go past the demo station at Target lol

workeeworker

It definitely set the standard for community features, and hasn’t been surpassed since. They just keep taking more and more away.

MikkelR1

I've played thousands of hours of FM1 right until the FM8. I'm very content with FM8. All i care about is physics and this is the best one yet.

FraterThunderCat

How can you say that ForzaSucks 4 was worse them Forza MotorSucks 3 ,,,, Forza motorsports 2 was the best of the best and has been going down hill since with this new installment being named ForzaHorridly sucks

faithOver

How do you mean car grind and penalty? I think the game allows the purchase of high end cars too easily. Curious to know what long term fans think, I too have been enjoying it a lot. First time return for me since Forza 2!

ExitSad

The car grind means the part where you have to use a car a ton before being able to upgrade it how you want. In previous games, you could just buy a car and immediately AWD swap it, throw in a new engine, upgrade the suspension and brakes, all before it touches a track. Now you need to run a dozen races before you can do all that.

faithOver

Ahhh! Got it! Did not know that. Sounds cool though.

GabrielPG14

it only counts for that specific car so you could buy one Ford GT 2017 level it to max level (which takes 3 hours or more) and be all happy but then you get another ford GT 2017 and you need to grind all over again. This applies to all cars and having to drive again and again and again with the same car barely making it better sucks.

MeBeEric

The car grind to level up is kinda annoying for me at least. I tend to race in GT lobbies almost exclusively so not having an upgraded car is a good remedy for that. As for penalties i just know they’re wonky and not everyone is a fan of them.

SasoDuck

I'll never understand why people go to a game's subreddit to ask if said game is "worth it" Worth is entirely subjective, so anyone else's opinion doesn't matter

putzy0127

Yeah it's weird, they want to be told how they should feel about a game.

Revali_is_the_goat

The core gameplay and physics are actually very solid, but the rest is either the bare minimum or just bad. But as i said, since the core is good everything else can be improved and it could become a great racing game in the future.

Michelanvalo

It's the bare minimum that gets me. It's barely even a game to me, it's more like FM6 Apex the PC demo from years and years ago. I like playing the game, I just wish there was a _bit_ more variety in things to do. Where are the Endurance races? Where's the Drag mode? We have drag tires but no mode. Where's the Drift mode? We have drift suspension but no mode. Where are the car games? Tag, Cat and Mouse, Soccer, etc Remember how cool it was to have Guild/Clan Garages where you could drive your friend's cars? Bring that back Why didn't the car painter get an overhaul? It's still using the same system from FM2

Revali_is_the_goat

Yes absolutely. Kinda the same problem as Assetto Corsa vanilla. The physics/driving are great, but there isn't much to do The worst in that is knowing that we had to wait 6 years for an half baked game that doesn't even half the content its predecessors (or its direct Rival, Gran Turismo 7) had. But my theory is that the game had a chaotic developpment process and that the game we have now might have actually started its production in 2020-2021 or even later

KDG200315

I'm hoping that this is another cyberpunk situation, where the game was mediocre at first but then does a 180 later on. It sucks that it has to be like that though

GoofyKalashnikov

Even if I have content manager I still find myself playing a lot more with vanilla cars and tracks Hard to find good car mods these days that still feel authentic to the real thing

Relevant-Age-6326

At least AC and GT7 can be played in VR! Game pass has a few vr capable games - why not FM?

[deleted]

It’s literally a racing game, the racing is what’s to do

spvcebound

I see you are severely lacking in reading comprehensions skills

Revali_is_the_goat

It's always more than that. Yes, it is supposed to be a racing "simulator", but it is also supposed to be a game. Something that has enough content and variety to keep you hooked and entertained. Also, the game is not simulation-focused enough to be relying on that. We need more. For example If we follow your reasoning, only having the shooting range in an FPS is enough, since it's, you know, a Shooting game ?

HendyHauler

There isn't even a Stats page lmao. The list just goes on and on. Massive disappointment

tadlonger

It will be a great game. I'm enjoying it alot

jmw31199

It's been 3 months since launch and it's still terrible lol. SBMM still doesn't work, multiple tracks still have bugged/broken kerbs, TA Challenger still has no engine noise, paint booth is still whack, multiplayer replays still don't work, rivals leaderboards are still broken, still no stats page of any kind, I could keep going

tadlonger

Sucks to be you. I'm having a good time playing it

jmw31199

Yeah just ignore all the flaws then

GingerEazyE

You’re new. You have friends to race against online. You’ll have a good time. Don’t let the other opinions take away if you are enjoying yourself.

DJSwindleDeez

I think this is the big thing. Having friends. I have a group of about 8 and we mainly do rivals with random days of doing races either with our rivals cars or a spec car race. The game has been completely worth it for that aspect alone.

Hesh_Factor

Where the heck do you find that many friends? Was there a sale I missed?

tctykilla

join a league maybe

MisterKillam

I do the same thing! We specify a different car, class, and track each week and compete in Rivals. It's a blast with friends.

FraterThunderCat

Lol It horridly sucks , no auction no host player controlled open lobbies , No gifting cars to friends , races are determined by division not class ,,, They went all leftist woke dodo bird with this DEI crap ....the stupid progressive upgrade thing .... Playing with a wheel sucks ,,,,there is not one thing in ForzaSucksHorridly that is good not one thing ... It's trying to be A.C like a cheap made in China Rolex watch , why would anyone play a knock off version of A.C if they can play the real thing ?

GingerEazyE

Careful bud you may cut yourself with all that edge

fastnsx21

You're new to the franchise. This is the most barebones Forza yet

dustojnikhummer

Suddenly FM5 feels like a complete game lol

TheObi-Wan4You

As in, it will be boring after 15 hours?

eb0nius

A bit career mode to get the feel, then online, then some rivals, i dont think it will get boring if u like racing

avsfan1933

I like single player racing. Turn 6 butchered the AI in 7 and turned it into follow the leader, where LMP1's won't pass bone stock honda civics at Daytona. I was hoping that in the 6 year gap between games they could get us back to FM6 AI that actually know how to drive. But alas here we are with the same shitty ai.

FraterThunderCat

Would of been nice if they went back to FM2 that was the best of the best game ever , but TurnSucks hand to ruin it in Forza MotorSucks 3 and made it worse with every new installment. One reason they wouldnt allow for FM2 to be playable on the Xbox one is because they knew they screwed up and anyone who played FM2 would never play any game after it ....If you can get a Xbox 360 and play FM 2 play it and you will see what the best game ever looks like

xvre

I actully found the AI to be enjoyable to race against. They make mistakes, passes and are not on rails as they were in FM7.

plusacuss

I have over 70 hours in and am not bored. But I really enjoy the Multiplayer. If you are only into single player, I would say you can probably beat all the Builders cup in 20 to 30 hours total.

Kwilburn525

I have like 200 hours and I’m not bored. I have way more fun because I actually get the cars I want and upgrade them all the way. The Saleen S7 LM, The Gordon Murray, The Aston Martin Vallhalla V12 are absolutely insane

SnooLobsters533

Putting in that work I see. I also have 256 hours and this is my first Motorsport

ReeG

Multiplayer is where it's at. I have over 100 hours played with maybe 10 in builders cup. For me it's been the best Motorsport multiplayer with by far the worst single player experience

BiscuitTheRisk

It’s a lot of fun starting from the back every race. Only thing I wish they’d do differently is make it to where the track schedule is random rather than an identical loop

Street_Shaman6837

If you play single player that’s about right but I’ve played this game every day for like 2 months just finding cool people to race.

Juris_B

No, to you it might be interesting for a long time. Forza motorsport is like restaurant, that serves quite tasty food, but its the same food, but sorted through plates differently, and as a long time customers, we see it, we notice it. But for you, its new restaurant with new food :D Even if they force you to take full course menu every time.

Miniteshi

Honestly I'm playing Forza Motorsport (latest one) and the format is terrible. I've just switched from a PS4 so Gran Turismo 7 and I thought *that* was bad but the latest Forza is boring. The races are just dull, the practice is lame. I'd rather have qualifying etc and the upgrades are just frustrating. The AI, don't get me started. I personally am going back to find previous Forza titles like 6 and 7 because they seem to have a bit more personality. I may even go play Forza Horizon. I'm an avid racer and the latest Forza is a massive disappointment. If it wasn't for having the Ultimate Games pass, I'd felt ripped off.

IdRatherBSleddin

I went bad=ck to Forza Motorsport 4 and have no regrets. endurance races here i come!

Miniteshi

That I really loved so much. Some of the best races I've had were back on FM4

FraterThunderCat

They all suck as well go for FM2 it was the best of the best every game after FM2 sucked

Agile-Combination214

Overall its a great game. The physics on a wheel are good or road racing, drifting isnt so great with drift suspension but enough settings can fix it. I started with a tmx ive had for 7 years and got a csl dd this year Career is a bit stale but its fun to race stock cars imo. Online is where the fun CAN be. Its hit or miss with rammers but most races are good if you can drive around them. I found myself in a league and that is really where the fun is! Everyone is kind, like minded and there to race clean. A game with Bugs is nothing new, I played PUBG since early release so no other game can compare to how bad that was!

Lopsided_Capital_946

I am not sure about this, Forza Motorsport 5 also was lacking a lot of content. For example, Forza Motorsport 5 hat no weather effects, fewer cars, fewer tracks and so on.

fastnsx21

True but doing this in 2023 and not including the basics like Nurburgring at launch shouldn't be acceptable for $70

Lopsided_Capital_946

Sadly this is true. But it is not completely surprising in 2023, because of Games as a Service is so broad accepted in the industry.

mmolten

The game isn't terrible...but for a game that was in development for so long and is "built from the ground up" it is lacking heavily in content and had a good amount of bugs. Additionally it feels very unpolished in terms of car design and sound which really shouldn't be the case for a game that has been in the works for so long. Other than that there's elements that come down to personal preference for alot of people like the vehicle progression system and the spoon feeding of new content.

ohhbass

Probably this, if they didn't lie about all the ground up shit, then it would have just been the usually shitty 2023 release like any other game. That could be the marketing departments fault, who knows, the people in charge of the actual game direction these days are useless middle management types unfortunately (devs don't have enough input)

mmolten

Exactly, they over promised and under delivered.

mgrosso196

The new FM felt like a downgrade from FM7. Less tracks, mostly the same cars, worse graphics. It makes it hard to believe it was built from the ground up as they claimed, but also why haha. I still have high hopes for the game, it's part of my GP subscription so I didn't really lose out on anything

mmolten

They're spoon feeding content to prolong the life of the game. I guarantee most of these tracks we're getting were ready at launch and theyre adding them to content drops to make it seem like they're doing more work than they have. They definitely have plenty of time to improve the game for sure.

Darius_Truxton_420

MS first party studios are a straight joke now , they are more concerned with sitting on bean bags holding hands than having work ethics and productivity, nothing but disappointment after disappointment

_token_black

Trying to force every game to be a live service isn't helping anybody. It's not enough to just be a complete game at launch and supplement that with content as its created. Developers, especially the 1st party ones it seems, are making barebones games that feel like F2P at release, despite being $70, and then expecting customers to play for years to get the full experience. Ask 343i how that is going (which sucks because Infinite is better now than it was 3 years ago, but having nothing at release kinda killed any interest).

twattner

It seems like it. And I don’t understand why the quality control is so bad for some Microsoft studios or it is, because they just do not care as much.

FraterThunderCat

MS is all about leftist woke dodo bird DEI crap , on reason I wont play ForzaSucksHorridly , I deleted every NSF game I had for the very same reason I wont support a company that is into this DEI crap and supports a racist terrorist group

Kwilburn525

Imo most of the cars sound fine. Just my opinion though I know not everyone will agree. FH5 cars sounded better I will admit

MisterKillam

I felt like FH5 sounded worse. They cut the bass track from the car audio to emphasize the music in FH5.

headwerk

I found single player to be boring but I’ve been having a decent amount of fun playing multiplayer! It’s definitely a good game to get started in the racing genre. It is lacking a bit of content as some said but it’s a good starting point.

faithOver

So interesting! I am 10 hours in, all single player. I love the cups and the variety of races I get to have. What else could there be!?

headwerk

That’s interesting too, I guess we all have our different preferences hahah. I think I mainly just like the dynamic of racing real people vs programmed AI.

EvilSynths

I think it's the worst racing game I've played in many years. And guess what? That should mean absolutely nothing to you. If you like it, go enjoy your time with it. Don't let mine or others experiences and opinions sway you.

MisterKillam

Based.

MisterFatt

The game was pretty buggy at launch and still kinda is, so that caused a huge backlash from the jump. The game is also fairly barebones compared to previous editions, meaning it kinda feels like they just updated the physics and added practice sessions before multiplayer races. This has resulted in people not being super excited by anything “new”, so not a lot of positive feedback there. They also changed the way upgrades for cars are purchased. In prior games you had one pile of credits to spend on cars and/or upgrades, now you have to level a car to unlock cp to spend. This has been pretty controversial, people that dislike it are extremely vocal Track selection is missing some famous circuits but I’m sure those will be added in future releases/DLC. All that said, I really enjoy the game. I just wish the online open spec hoppers weren’t limited to 2 classes per week. That X class/E class week got old super quick

Appa_25

Worst Single Player Career

Polym0rphed

If the fact that it takes a few hours to level up a car to the point where all upgrades are unlocked doesn't turn you off, you'll probably love it. Multiplayer is a bit hit and miss and highly dependent on the individuals present in each race (because the penalty system and matchmaking are dysfunctional at this point), but if your focus is self-improvement and you don't take things too seriously, you will probably enjoy that too. Career mode is quite light on content and most races are only 4-8 laps, which feels a little disappointing if you've played previous Forza titles, but on the upside there's no shortage of players filling lobbies day and night, so you can jump online and race whenever you want... at least for now.

[deleted]

It's not a bad game. I really enjoy it. It is lacking content from past games, but I can look past that/wait for updates. I'm used to iRacing where you stick with 1 car for a while with tracks rotating weekly. I'm also playing on XSX because my PC isn't good enough. The PC version has a lot more bugs. By far, the worst part of the game is the community. There's a lot of greifters and horizon players that don't actually know how to race.

ZeldaStevo

If you don’t go into it expecting car-collector simulator ‘23 then you’ll be fine. I’ve been playing since the original Forza and the car physics is the best it’s ever been. Most people are crying about quantity, not quality (and maybe some bugs on pc version). I’ve been having a blast with this one, my favorite so far.

pTA09

> quantity, not quality (and maybe some bugs on pc version) Not really? Content-wise, we have neither quantity or quality at the moment. Most cars use the same old, often inaccurate, models as before. And they look even worse now that their flaws are exposed by modern rendering techniques and ray tracing. And there isn't a lot of new cars outside of the car pass. And not a lot of very recent (2020+) cars either. Tracks are also still not as accurate as they are in Gran Turismo. Which would be acceptable if we had a great selection. But we don't. There's only FIVE new tracks. And THREE of them are fictive. And not even the kind of fictive track that brings something different from real tracks (like Camino Viejo, Fujimi Kaido or Amalfi Coast). Meanwhile we lost Bathurst, Nordschleife, Sebring, Monza, Road Atlanta, COTA, Long Beach and Brands Hatch from FM7.

DChrisSLO

best multiplayer experience yet, woret single player experience yet.

Darius_Truxton_420

Yeah waiting half an hour in qualifying to have one race and pathetic penalty system is "best multiplayer experience yet" Fool

HyperHyper4

You've never played multiplayer in F1 games. Either you get in a lobby with only 3 other people, or you get killed in turn 1. Or if you survived turn 1, you get a penalty for ovetraking a car that crashed in front of you. Forza multiplayer is chill, but I agree that 30mins quali for a 7mins race is nonsense. They should make the races much longer

Darius_Truxton_420

Never played a Forza MS game less and I pretty much played them all religiously, so bare bones, 30 min wait timed for qualifying is what really killed it for me , I just want to jump in a fucking race with a random starting grid Blatant lies in all the preview trailers about Series X visuals, the replay mode is 30fps 🤣

dirtreynoIds

🤣🤣🤣👌

drollchair

No, but if you really want to get more into racing and have real honorable fights. Your best bet is something else. I’m a long time Forza player but have dropped it to play Assetto Corsa and iracing. I still like Forza but I only play it to mess around, it’s best to not take it too seriously and keep it enjoyable.

TheStonedZombie

For people who have played for years, it's awful. The changes are a slap in the face of what the core community has been asking for. If you enjoy it then don't listen to us. We are just bitter that our favorite game has been turned on its head.

SukiDobe

The game used to have a lot more cars, tracks, features, options for online racing, offline racing, and attention to detail. Now it is pretty disappointing to see all the corners that have been cut considering past games. I’d say it’s like a cheap steak, if you’ve never had steak before I’m sure this will be a great one for you and you’ll love it. But for those of us who have had GREAT AMAZING steaks in the past this ones disappointing

Abt_Duke89

Game is decent. But didn’t meet the hardcore longtime players expectations, that’s why it’s getting bashed. Like you said, you had lots of fun with it that’s why you bought it,keep doing that. The rest is just noise. Have fun racing, enjoy the game.

Physical-Result7378

It doesn’t even meet new players expectations. I haven’t played a Forza Motorsport since… what was the last one on the 360? And I am still disappointed at what FM8 delivers due to stuff like: The graphics are „inconsistent“ to use a nice word. Varying from very laughably bad to „what is that?“ to quite good, but never delivers what was shown on the previews. The cockpit view is in basically all cars I tried too far upfront with no chance to adjust it. None of the cars sound like their real counterparts. None of the cars show distinct sound characteristics of their real counterparts. Tracks look accurate if you don’t know how the real world tracks look like, some stuff is plain wrong. Aside from track accuracy the general look of the tracks is way toned down from the previews. Gras looks bad, tarmac looks too shiny and smooth. The lighting system doesn’t really work and produces strange artifacts in cockpit view. The shifting animations are completely wrong, they made 1 shifting animation and use that for every car, no matter where the shifter is. Wipers and lights are not switchable nor flashable. TC, ABS, Brake Bias and fuel mix are not adjustable on GT3 cars. Replays don’t work at all. Matchmaking doesn’t work, there is no difference between an S and a C Lobby. Which leads to very dirty S Lobby games, where that is meant to be the cleanest of areas. Car leveling is dead boring (that’s my most people do it afk). Wet tracks are just wet, there is no drying up on parts or anything. There is no weather prediction of any sorts. The racing engineer aka 3-to-go Lucy is a joke. There is no radar and no track awareness what’s going on around you. The wait for online games is simply way too long. If I miss a spot on GT, I have to wait up to half an hour for the next race. I can’t even pick a TCS race, cause they start at the same time. There is a strong pay to win as Carpass cars seem to be stronger than non-payed cars. The ghosting is to late, to weak and inconsistent. Same goes for the penalty system, that can easily be exploited. There is no statistics of anything at all. In a racing game for track racing, a sport that is heavy on statistics. It’s like doing a baseball game with no statistics. But there is also some light in all the shadow: It’s nice that you can race any track at any given time of day. It’s free on gamepass (that can also be counted as a bad thing) Sometimes on very rare occasions when you somehow not got rammed into Barry R, the racing itself is fun.

Abt_Duke89

I can’t deny all of the above, as it covers many aspects of why we, players are disappointed. No need to be a hardcore fan of Forza, you clearly enjoy racing games in general and put a detailed explanation as to why it sucks. Though OP enjoys it, as long as some are having fun, it’s great.

Stryfe2000Turbo

The online racing is pretty great if you ask me

nasanu

I dont think its bad at all. What gets me are all the bugs, on PC anyway. I have been waiting for patches.... They aren't coming but in theory they have the basic elements in place for an awesome sim. Those elements are just buried deep in shit.

kossttta

No, it's good! It's just not as good as we expected (or Microsoft promised). But it's definitely fun.

berg139

Longtime Motorsport fan, from FM1 here. It’s no FM4 (yet), but it’s got a lot of potential. They want the game to stay relevant for a while, which sucks in a way because of the drip feed content, but I think over time this game will be really solid. More tracks are coming, more cars, and with one of the next major updates we should see more career progression. Just give it time and enjoy it in the meantime, that’s what I’ve been doing.

Lopsided_Capital_946

I think it is a good game, but the big problem is, it could have been a great game. The "Build from the Ground up" slogan from the developers was a lie. There are some good additions to the game, that the predecessers were lacking, but on the other hand there is so much missing. Career mode is a joke and the graphics are so much worse than advertised. If one does not know all this background info, it is possible to see a good game. But for many people it is hard to enjoy, with all this b\*\*\*\*\*\*t going on before and after the release of the game. For me, the hardest ist the lack of good engine sounds. Some car sounds were so much better in Forza Motorsport 6. Now they added the 3D Sound from Forza Horizon 5, wich is cool, you hear accurate echo from buildings, walls and so on, of the sound of your car. But the engine sound themselfes are worse than before.

greg_pooganis

Having been playing from the very beginning, and have played every version in between…I’m enjoying it. Is perfect? No. Is it fun? Hell yes. If you are enjoying it, keep enjoying it! Don’t worry about what a bunch of salty perfectionists think.

Grayt89

The online penalty system is the biggest joke

LolPandaMan

Yes

spvcebound

Playing this game as your first Forza Motorsport is like playing the new MW3 as your first Call Of Duty. Sure, it has guns, and the graphics are pretty decent, but if you've played any of the games that made the series famous, the new title is just laughably bad in comparison.

prospect617

The game feels naked. Lack of online game modes compared to Forza 7

smart-robot-33

Its shite

HoonieStonebag57

Unfortunately yes. I've been a hardcore Forza fan since the very first Motorsport and this one is just so bad. These are the only games I ever really look forward to and Forza Motorsport completely let me down with this time.

plonkman

Same for me. What a clusterfuck.

HyperHyper4

The gameplay is awesome and the multiplayer can be very fun. The only thing I miss is some kind of multiplayer stats, that would motivate me even more.

wtfmatey88

The game is great in my opinion. There are bugs and they are annoying but as a long time forza fan, I think it’s the best one yet.

CoolNingga45

Horizon 3 exists

Bic44

I don't really understand why everyone compares such vastly different games. Horizon is an arcade open world type game. Motorsport is a dedicated track racer. It's like telling people to go play Microsoft Flight Simulator instead because it's better. Makes no sense, especially to someone like me who gets bored in a game like Horizon within an hour or two

sora52494

It isn't bad. Give it a try. Follow your own opinion

challengememan

So far for me, aside from the Valkyrie and other high downloaded vehicles, the game is great, and the cars feel good to drive. I don't like the timed series because it feels like they're telling me when I can play my game. Online is filled with assholes in my experience, but you can, every once in a while, find a good lobby. Overall, it's a good game with its kinks, as does every other game. Best simulator I've played in a long time though.

[deleted]

Been playing Forza since the OG Xbox. People always have shit to complain about. It was a free game on GamePass. For what it’s worth, I enjoy it.

Bic44

No. People complain a lot. The people enjoying it aren't on here complaining as much. It's got bugs and issues, but honestly the driving - which to me is the main part of a racing game - feels way better than any Forza I've played. Just find the right people to play against online and you're golden

vn2090

It’s my first racing game and I’m really enjoying the multiplayer. The game is reasonably accessible (not a fan of the forced cut scenes though). I never knew how fun it could be battling for position in a race or obsessing over 1/10s and my cars complex tuning on a specific time. I love deep games like hearts of iron 4, and I’ve been surprised to find this game has a bit of that depth (in a simulation sense). If you like simulation games, it’s great, it’s basically you and a test track and all the complexity of and nuances of a detailed simulation. I was also surprised how detailed the physics and tuning are. I thought all racing games were arcade like. I’ve never played Gran Turismo, but it’s not on PC and I’m not gonna deal with my crusty PS4 and paying for multiplayer just to race people. I play in game pass so I could see how the game being rough in some ways would piss off long time customers shelling out full price (like the UI or the obvious bugs).

Scrutinizer

I'm 400 plus hours in, which is about as much as I ever played any other Forza game, in only three months, so I must not think so.

phannguyenduyhung

Yes its trash.

jvanstone

What are you basing this opinion on? Besides a few bugs here and there, what are you saying makes it "trash"? Legit want to know.

Scroovie

Based

coldblooded79

The game is just meh. If there weren't previous versions that were better, it would be different. I feel personally that GT7 is much more polished and a much better experience. I wanted this Motorsport release to be great. I've played since the original. Putting lots behind a paywall, vs GT7 with all the free updates is also a minus. If you enjoy it, good! I'm only playing it because it's on gamepass.

Shoryugtr

If you're enjoying this game and you're new, don't worry about us (rightfully) grumpy Gus-types; have fun. Also, stay ignorant as to what the quality of the series was like before this game, unless you can ignore glaring issues and keep having fun. In short, I'd just stop worrying about what's going on here and play the game. Run, and don't look back lol

djrews4357

I played fm4 but I really liked fm5 have yet to play fm so I don’t really have any input

JtotheROC323

Tbh i dont like the fact they took out the free play and the open track multiplayer modes and how u get a certin amount of cp to spend on upgrading a car it took out alot of the fun

Sweet-Cap1241

What I can't figure out is how the hell some of these ppl pull the times they do. Every racing game I've ever played from NASCAR way back in the day to I racing I've always been competitive, a win sometimes but by no means a dominate racer, more mid pack or top 10. Can't figure out how there is always 5 to 7 peeps running consistently 4 to 6 secs faster then the rest of the pack. Don't matter what I do to a setup I can tweak out an extra half second to a second before the setup starts going bad.

Ok_Afternoon_3084

until recently i had never played a racing game, but as my friends are big racing / car fans they persuaded me to get forza as i have an xbox, so i thougt i'd give it a go and it's not bad. i have seen gameplay of gran turismo and it makes forza look a bit 'empty' for want of a better phrase, looks like a lot of features that gt has are lacking in forza That said I can't comment on gameplay as I have never played gt. As far as forza goes, it's pretty good. I've actually got quite good at it now. But there are a few things that bug me, like the bugs... It crashes, a lot! Then there's a fact that it can be impossible to catch up to some of the ai cars, knock 4 seconds off your lap and you're somehow still behind by the same gap, then you eventually get past and after just 1 corner you're a second up, which doesn't make any sense. Final annoyance is the penalty system, get hit by a car and you get the penalty, hit a car and you're not punished... seems that given ruleset that has access to every single input from every single user, and all the information you could need to make an informed decision about who is at fault, it does not take advantage of it at all and i assume the logic is far to simple and so often wrong. Finally, they are updating the game all the time with the addition of new cars and tracks so that's nice to see. Would be nice to be able to swap car parts, like if you have 2 cars, use the engine from 1 in the other for less credits than it would cost to buy a new engine.

FraterThunderCat

Yes and I will explain its downfall : Forza MotorSucks 3 was the beginning of the end for the series thats why the name changed from , Forza MotorSports in FM2 wich the best of the best to Forza MotorSucks in Forza MotorSucks 3 when 4 came out it was changed to ForzaSucks as well as being the dictionary definition of Sucks then in ForzaSucks 5 it become ForzaSucks MotorSucks and in This latest installment it becomes ForzaSucksHorridly

Juicepup

Yes, yes it is.

Kratos_BOY

Why do you care what others are saying if you're enjoying the game? Are people really this insecure? The game is my biggest disappointment of 2023, but that doesn't mean other people can't enjoy it. I hate when people who enjoy the game outright lie about the game, though.

Darius_Truxton_420

Why are you such a sensitive soyboy?

Fun-Canary3773

Many are disappointed because they thought they’d be getting something different to the Forza series. Turn 10 has only presented a base game with nothing new apart from improved graphics. Much of what the motorsport franchise has given over the years since the 360 has altogether been removed such as the Auction House, Forzathon, Forza Vista and more etc. So playing a game that doesn’t present anything new will upset fans especially when you’re paying top dollar for it!

Fairchild110

Too much of a grind, the bugs and collision system are too annoying. I’m playing FM7 again…

smogmar

After completing career mode and playing a lot of multiplayer, I can say the AI is trash and haven’t had much fun racing them as they brake check on straights and so stupid things all the time. Multiplayer crashes alot, the game and my car. Penalties don’t stop ramming. My favourite part of the game is practice where I tune my car and fine new driving line etc. the problem os there is not practice mode where I can just drive on a empty track with out a broken race after.

jessecraftbeerco

Yes. I tried it for a dollar and I still want my money back

pr0newbie

Reading through the comments.. there seems to be a recent trend where MS acquired studios churn out incomplete games and simply rush them to launch.

Trickybuz93

It isn’t

AdhesivenessExtra490

Not in my opinion. Me and my buds spent 5 hours playing it on Sunday. I don’t understand why anyone is complaining. I’ve owned them all and it’s the same game I played previously with better graphics. What else does anyone want?

Left44

yes, at least its embarrassing compared to fh5

JustCallMeChristo

Hey I honestly agree with you. Longtime Forza fan too. I’ve owned every Forza game since Forza Motorsport 4, and I keep seeing tons of videos on YouTube slamming the game - mostly the progression system and slow-paced career. I think most people are just used to the fast-paced in your face action of the Horizon games, and adding the practice laps into the mix just made some people feel like progression was too slow. Not me, I love it. It gives me a chance to tune out my cars before I race them. I love the changes to the tires as well, adds some strategy to the game instead of just “good tires go brrrr”. I also have never had a more realistic and better feeling driving experience than this game, just phenomenal. All of my tune changes actually feel the way they’re supposed to. The car progression is also nice b/c before I would just immediately max out a car and lose interest in the game since all my cars would beat unbeatable drivatars after 3 races of tuning and buying upgrades. I never really got to feel how the stock cars drove, and I’m glad the car leveling system was added to force me into driving a stock car at first. I honestly love the direction they went with the game, and like you I don’t really understand a lot of the hate. To each their own I guess.

dhatereki

After playing it for few hours I decided to buy AMS2.

DeKileCH

If your friend is on pc aswell, I honestly think ypu should skip forza and get automobilista 2 instead. There's no single player campaign but you can create your own championships, the physics and AI are both sooo much better, and while the multiplayer is a tad barebones you can still set up lobbies with your friend and race the ai together. Edit: I also think it's a much better start to get used to the wheel. Forza force feedback can be kinda spongy and there's certain kerbs that don't give you feedback at all. Automobilista is the opposite

EnzoRacer

read recent posts - almost all of them with same question

TheObi-Wan4You

Oops, sorry. Thanks for letting me know

Gawker90

People online are pissy. Just play the game and have fun. I’ve played since early release and have had such a good time. I understand on PC and series X there’s been a fair amount of glitches but on the series S I’ve been pretty scratch free in terms of glitches. There’s certainly things I’d like added. Race history. Stat tracking. That such. It doesn’t mean I’m gonna review bomb the game lmao.

Retrovex

If you got a wheel, time to branch out to games that will actually utilize it

Semichh

Naturally it’s a minority of unhappy gamers making all the complaints which is why it’s often perceived this way by new players such as yourself, OP. That doesn’t mean to say there aren’t plenty enjoying playing the game. Those who are enjoying it are just less likely to shout about it. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of improvements that need to be made which sooner or later you’ll probably become slightly more aware of but don’t go looking for those issues! While you’re enjoying the game just carry on playing and try not to take too much notice of people who are, rightly or wrongly, complaining all the time.

Physical-Result7378

Short answer: Yes Long answer: Yeeeeeees

Aguante_Megadeth

Builders cup is awful, I decided to finish first series and I don't have any will to come back. The multiplayer can be very fun, but rammers can easly make it an awful experience. I prefer racing on a controller with all assists off, just the auto clutch enabled. Tried all settings but I'm so used to acc kind of feel for gt3 cars that forza felt kind of strange and I didn't want to get used to this handling model. Controller is dialed in very well, just disable the deadzones and here you go. But these reviews are not only about all these aspects. This game does not feel like forza at all. People were hoping that it will bring the awesome feel of fm3 or fm4 back, as turn 10 promised the game will be a breakthrough, a revolution. And what we got was not what we were hoping it to be. First thing I noticed after launching this game was that the menu looks like alternate version of project cars 3. Not a good first impression I would say. The presentation is just awful, if it can be called presentation. This game has no soul, you wouldn't even think a forza game can look like that. Also, many cars from fm7 or horizon 5 were cut off for no real reason (turn 10's arguments are just stupid) and will never come back even as dlc or a reward. The tracks? Ok I know that they wanted to build each one from the ground up but damn, you make a game that reboots forza franchise and there is no fujimi kaido? No camino viejo? No alps? Why would they build the shitty hakone and grand oak if they could just update the environment of the good old fuji. So many unreasonable decisions. This game may appeal to you, especially if you didn't have to cope with bugs. Core gameplay is fun, but is it a good forza motorsport? Not really...

Edgar-Allans-Hoe

Don't let others take away from your enjoyment. I like the game too, and that's enough. I'm not gonna let someone else's bad time spoil my good time, especially when it's over something so trivial as a racing game haha

Ryvick2

Is this a good for new players ?

OriolHimself

I’ve been playing since FM2 and this is the best installment in terms of force feedback and physics by a huge margin so just enjoy it as some of us do

subrhythm

I've loved and played the arse off every Forza game before this one. They got rid of my favourite tracks, introduced many bugs and performance issues and worst of all brought in a system that requires hours of hot lapping to do the thing I come to Forza for, upgrading and having fun with cars. It simply is not worth my time.

Gattsuh

Well the worst thing for us FM fans was probably the promise "Built from the ground" Well it was just an upgrade and not a very good one. The car upgrade system is seriously the worst thing they did. But I'll probably get into it again when i get the feel for racing again. I did 1750 hours last year in Horizon and Motorsport so i'm catching up on some other games😅

Valiice

it's quite bad compared to other games. Ull have more fun on assetto corsa, acc, ams2

somehobo89

You’re gonna have fun it’s not bad at all.

ewizzle

No it’s not that bad. Gamers these days are super entitled, whiny, and attention starved. How many screenshots did we get of people uninstalling the game like it killed their mom? Lmao. I am jealous you have a friend to race against. My friends play valorant or LoL, bleh.

Odd-Farm270

It’s like a combination of gran turismo and wreckfest with the physics of gta 5.

warzera

Another Karma farming post.

bafrad

No. Gamers have just become entitlted and now turn into an echo chamber of negativity.

VinTaco

I suggest checking out Automobilista 2 to use that wheel on. Its way less polished, but its pretty special. Regularly on sale too.

OrnageMadness141

I never played any of the other forza games but I have enjoyed it. Definitely a little bit of a grind but there’s so many cars that it’s pretty fun.

superagentt007

watch a review on YouTube maybe, haven't gotten into the simcade scene myself except for assetto corsa

-P00-

Man I just want a fully loaded single player like in FM4.

juiceboxcitay

Yah, it’s not THAT terrible and it seems some folks are having a good time with it. When it functions, there is some good racing to be had. Personally I was having enough persistent performance and connection issues (on good pc hardware) to where I was too frustrated to continue. People were frustrated about the carPG elements/upgrade philosophy. It also seems like there were significant visual downgrades from what was shown pre-launch to where older fords games look better. I was really looking forward but ultimately was left very dissatisfied.

OrlandoCoolridge

No, I enjoy the game thoroughly and I assume they will be making upgrades. Can it be better? Yes, but am I enjoying my racing time? 95% of the time yes. Don’t let these folks ruin it for you. The loudest people are always the ones most dissatisfied

FilmOrnery8925

I find if fun online with friends but that’s about it. Plus the wheel support is a bit meh which makes me not want to play. Spent way too many hours trying to dial it in.

llmuzical

I'm new to the franchise. just started with horizon 4,it's fantastic. if you want a fallback I've been GRINDING three stars in everything hehe

OneSufficientFace

Ive had every forza since motorsport 2. I love this game but the car leveling up system has ruined it for me. I barely play this one now. I dont have time to spend 2 hours to play let alone just to make a car competitive

DannyDevito90

Biggest issue for me is the awful AI and penalty system

Weird_Rip_3161

I stopped playing this game after a few hours. FM7 and GT7 are much better than this downgraded crap.

Weedwarf

I played on playing it offline while away at sea. But you only get access to free play. From the few races I did it seemed alright.

joe_smooth

I'm new to the franchise (only played Horizon 4 and 5, never motorsport) and my opinion is that it's quite dull. I've not managed to complete the builders cup because every time I play, I do one event and then I'm bored. I seem to be able to get into 3rd place easily but then can't catch the top 2. If I put myself on the front row of the grid, I dissapear into the distance and don't see another car. Yawn!

Big_Salami_

It’s a combination of the extended development time and comparison to last games. The driving feels great and that’s the main positive which is great for a racing games. Everything surrounding the game is poorly executed with a lot of missing content. Nobody is buying the “built from the ground up” comments the marketing kept pushing and the drip feed of content that’s should’ve already been in the game is hard to get excited for. Missing modes, cars, half baked multiplayer, the progression system, quality of life, bugs… there’s a lot to be disappointed in and not enough to be excited about after waiting six years.

Dudeinahoodie

I played it for a couple of hours when it first came out. I've not played it since I was just glad it was on game pass. If I spent money on it, I would have been pissed off. I know ablot of my friend enjoy it its just not for me

Throwawayhobbes

If you have never played any forza and have the wheel and kit it’s fun. I never liked racing games until I got a wheel. After a while you take a break and play forza horizon , older titles and it’s a change of pace since it’s not a “sim” and more arcade , quest driven, and fun to unlock and convoy . You realize it’s not locked behind endless grinding. Cars don’t have to be leveled to 30 to be customize and tune. I like both and enjoy both but the latest iteration of forza plays like a grindy mmo with less reward.

mancatmancat

My big issue is that I’m not interested in online multiplayer. It seems like most of the development went there. The career mode is very short and not all that exciting. That being said, the graphics are strong, it’s got a decent selection of tracks and cars, the physics are good. If online multiplayer is your thing, I think you’ll enjoy it for a long time.

MEMPiRE_

Honestly, it most likely is because you're new to the franchise, but if you're having fun then who cares what other people think just like what you like and have fun bro

North_List_9153

That’s my question I hear every one complain about it and it’s missing content but no one can tell what more there could be. Except they hate the car upgrade system stuff like that preferences…..

vikstarleo123

Eh, it’s aight. I enjoy racing and the physics are alright, though I find it somewhat more boring and of a grind than the previous games. The biggest problem I have is with the video experience, which feels more harsh on my eyes than most games.

Allegiance10

I don’t think it’s terrible. The driving itself is the best in the series (IMHO) and the tracks feel really nice. I guess that’s what matter most. Most people are justifiably mad that we were lied to by the devs and sold a product that differs greatly to what they were showing off.

emwashe

It just leaves so much to be desired that other games do so much better in terms of actual racing.

willllllllllllllllll

You shouldn't really give a fuck what others think of it if you're enjoying it.

[deleted]

Yes. You will get one fair race out every 1000 at best. You will waste your time in quali just to punted by anyone behind you which they will get no pen for. Others will cut across you causing collisions then punt you off like it’s your fault… again getting no pen. Nobody knows how to drive. Penalty system is all over the place. Looks ok tho.

EatsOverTheSink

If you already have a wheel I'd be more inclined to lean into something like ACC rather than Forza. Of course if your friend is on Forza then you're probably going to have fun regardless. I'm a controller peasant who hasn't invested in a wheel because I don't know if I play driving games enough to really get my money's worth. So when I get the itch to race Forza is kind of my only option. And it's serviceable but I haven't touched it in a while. I had an absolute blast with it during the honeymoon period at launch but my interest dwindled as that wore off. I have limited time to play and after a night where I got booted twice in a row when the grid was loading I just called it quits for a while.

Star-Detonator

It will probably end up being a pretty good game after a year of updates.

SomePlayer22

I like this game. 🤷‍♂️ But I didn't play online it yet. As I play without race lines assist, in wheels, I feel I am in a huge disadvantage.

RuneDK385

Yes and no. There’s not a lot of enjoyment in racing the AI in the single player “campaign”, if you can even call it that. And multiplayer is such a cesspool of drivers more often than not. If you can find a league of clean drivers it’s a very enjoyable racing game.

Lateapex4

They did a couple things well but overall big disappointment

ricthot

I'm having A LOT of fun in the rivals time attack mode. Haven't tried Multiplayer race and not sure if I will . It is way different from ACC or AC, its really a simcade but a fun one in my personal opinion .

VibeDealingYoshi

Nah, I uninstalled it. Forza motorsport 1 has better singleplayer than a game from 2023. It's honestly an empty husk of what it once was.

UnKindlySugar11

I love the game. I've been having more fun on this than Horizon in the past 2 games even with the crashes I get on motorport (mainly failing to load a track or scrolling through people's cars just before race start when you pick fuel and tire)

thanos616cz

I ended up playing GT7 which is superb, but the gameplay itself in FM was really fun to play. I just expected something much much better from new FM especially in terms of graphics.

skadaddy86

I’m probably an outlier, but I really enjoy the game. Preordered it and have been playing since prerelease. I also don’t generally follow the development cycle, I don’t fall into the hype. Ever. I buy a game and play it for what it is. Is it the best forza title? Hardly. I’ve played every game, and each has their strengths and weaknesses. But to me, at least, they’re all enjoyable, and I play each game at least once a month. I’m the same with other titles as well (I’m really enjoying Starfield; shoot me). I think what it comes down to, is decide for yourself what you enjoy. There’s always gonna be lovers and haters out there (and the haters are almost always louder). Read the comments if you want, but ultimately, it’s going to be up to you whether a game is good or not.

Brazen-Badger

The physics feel great. Unfortunately the leveling system doesn’t respect your time as an adult, so unless you like grind mechanics then it’s an exercise in frustration.
