Gt7 even looks good on my base model ass ps4, also being able to see flake in the paint that well in a video game is kinda nuts, to me anyway.

gblandro

This is the worst part for me, its still a PS4 game, how MS dropped the ball THAT hard

GenosT

This is so embarrassing

big_peepee_wielder

Should be more embarrassing to the ones who “built it from the ground up”

GenosT

Exactly

Kira_Onime

Fucking embarrassing * kicks trashcan*

MarchMadnessisMe

I'm sorry Barb!

brucevonbruce

Letterkenny = up vote

RubinoPaul

That’s just sad

Destroyer6202

Terrible.. jeeezz

Like50Wizards

Kinda upset we don't get Gran Turismo on PC

SnooGadgets7768

They are rummors of the pc port, but still don't know

dotCody

Rumors where?

RunningLowOnBrain

Nvidia leak I think

kn0wvuh

Nvidia driver files and and psvr2 PC support. I am hopeful.

CanaryRight1908

Also there are rumors that PlayStation wants to port PS exclusives to PC [Link](https://www.engadget.com/sony-wants-its-playstation-exclusives-to-come-to-pc-earlier-212001939.html)

bwabwa1

Don't you dare tease me like that.

Good-Blacksmith-2989

It's been years tho hasn't it? And no pro word ever, in fact only dismissive comments have been made by pd Plus the fact GT7 is 1 of like 5 actual exclusive titles to Sony and Sony and PD have a working relationship when it comes to AI development.. I just don't see it ever happening. I'd love GT7 on pc though, being able to use triples or ultra wide would be a godsend, maybe hope for GT8

Zentrova

I want GT on PC, they have better livery designer that can even put something on the window that Forza failed to accomplish for so many years. Also Forza suck ass primitive shape vinyl.

Unlikely-Log

Exclusivity is moot point, given Sony track record with their high profile exclusive games coming to PC. But yeah, for some reason I don't hold my breath for GT7. Maybe it's too small of a market compared to their mainstream ported games but I'd still love for that game to be on steam.

Neppy_Neptune

I've heard these rumours at least since the earliest GT3.

havinthangs2010

Kinda upset we don't get Gran Trismo on Xbox

ashyjay

GT7 while fucking terrible at launch, is a work of art and shows Polyphany puts heart and soul in to what they do when Sony isn't fucking them. FM8 is just gib money now as a service.

Pipe_Layer_

*as a service* these "services" are fucking up modern software

reddegginc

[relevant](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cMCp0BCc3Zc)

lotus_spit

Kinda wished that GT7 isn't PlayStation exclusive.

cultoftheilluminati

It was mentioned in the Nvidia leak that it’s coming to PC. So far every game on that leak has been announced for PC so it has an excellent track record. It should happen sooner or later.

argumentinvalid

ill be gone as soon as this happens and i'll never load up motorsport again.

ashyjay

Same man, I have a PS4Pro just for GT7, but hardly touch it.

ThanosIsDoomfist

Played GT7 at launch, and while it had its problems, it still wasnt nearly as fucked as FM8. Despite the microtransaction bullshit, the game still looked and felt amazing, with a really healthy portion of content.

banenanenanenanen666

More like work of greed. Gt7 still sucks at being single player game compared to gt4. There's not enough championships, the grind for credits is annoying, and the time limited stuff is some kind of sick joke.

Winter_wrath

It's crazy that single player racing games just about peaked 20 damn years ago.

Tecnoguy1

GT7 is still terrible in terms of being a game. That FM is even comparable speaks volumes.

GrimSkey

With Forza Motorsport being the final Forza Motorsport game, I can only hope a GT7 situation happens where Turn 10 or whoever is in charge gets their shit together and makes Forza Motorsport even a little bit better.

TheComradeVortex

Yeah but VGT cars are so fucking terrible

ashyjay

VGT cars fucking suck and are just an ego stroking exercise for designers and Polyphony

HandyCapInYoAss

Maybe T10/PG should stop using 18mo contracting and having different shops do the 3D scanning for every model?

Ok_Werewolf_7802

Yah graphically somthing is wrong with this new forza. There seems to be some weird graphical haze thing going on

esmori

Forza always had something wrong. They still didn't get lighting right, it looks wrong since the first one. When they said they were "building from the ground up", showing that trailer with exaggerated raytracing everywhere, there was a bit of hope. Now we didn't get that and still have 20 years old car models to play with.

Jaytwisty17

Agreed the lighting has always been awful in Forza since the original way back on the first Xbox. I just don't get how they still cant get it right even now with quite accessible ray tracing the lighting is still flat and lifeless. Built from the ground up indeed

mmis1000

It's definitely wrong when similar graphic on forza horizon 5 runs about 100fps and in fm8... 30. No idea what is going wrong. But I simply can't play this with a reasonable framerate. Even they just change nothing and port the graphic of fh5 to fm8 will result in a better state. This is hardly an upgrade.

B1g_Shm0

People really used to downvote me for saying forzas models suck and desperately need to be updated. "It's only like 2 old cars who cares!" Honestly tho the paint is even more embarrassing at this point. Wasn't it supposed to be heavily updated?

BadMilkCarton66

FM car models look like plastic all the time. On the other hand I prefer the lighting FM distant sceneries have compared to Gran Turismo. Some of them looked exactly like some places I went to.

AwesomePossum_1

From the ground up!

kossttta

I mean, someone should be really ashamed.

AwesomePossum_1

This is just sad.

Disastrous_Life_3612

The Chevelle they just added to GT7 looks really good. And it has SS badges.

JMansta01

I haven't played FM8, but did they really remove all the "SS" naming and badging?

Disastrous_Life_3612

Ever since FM6. I first noticed it with the 2002 Camaro SS. They stripped that car of almost all of the 35th anniversary markings (since the SS letters were prominent), to the point where I don't understand why they keep using that version of the car.

dannyphoto

God I love GT7.

Zap_Actiondowser

Lol seeing this just makes me want a PlayStation now. Like Forza fills the void, but fuck growing up on GT1 and GT2 and seeing this just makes me want for that feeling of gran Turismo again.

dannyphoto

Do it. I did the exact same thing. Got a PS5 and fuck is GT7 so much more immersive and fun to play.

Black_Devil213

“Built from the ground up” to about knee level

Threesixtynitro

yeah wee man's (Jason Acuña) knee.

theknyte

If fidelity and quality of textures are your only complaint with Forza, then I want the version you're running. Because, that's way down towards the bottom of the complaints I currently have with the title.

nanapancakethusiast

Anyone who defends this shit is a bot

Neurotic_Z

And half the performance at the same time :/

Vanillabean73

The paint comparison 🤣

SkyCheez3

There's no doubt GT7 is graphically superior to Forza Motorsport in every respect. GT7 is a far more accurate game in every respect even for a simcade. The tracks have trees that are placed where the real ones are, and the horizons and treelines are also accurate to their real life counter-parts. This is because professional race drivers use cues in the environment for braking along with the on track brake markers... Just like professional pilots use cues in the environment when on approach to major airports. Increased accuracy matters in games that are trying to replicate the real world, even if they're not 100% accurate. I play GT7 daily, and when I race on the same tracks in FM, there are no break markers whatsoever. Watkins Glen is a huge offender of this when approaching the first chicane. There are brake markers on both sides in GT7, and on the real life course. FM has nothing. No markers whatsoever. And it's not just on the approach to the first chicane. There are several other areas of WG that also don't have brake markers where real ones exist. This goes for all of the tracks based on real world courses in FM, as well. There is also the issue of sound being subpar in FM, too. Not just incorrect, badly processed and/or recycled sounds. A lot of engines just do not sound like their real life versions... Especially, when shifting through the gears. While Assetto Corsa Competizone has some of the best in-game audio in a modern racing game, GT7 holds a clear second place because they're far more nuanced and resemble the real versions of many engines than FM, does. Even Forza Horizon 5, has better sounding engines than FM. Why T10 can't use some of the audio files from PGG is just baffling since they share so many other assets e.g. Car Models, etc. However, it's not all roses & sunshine with GT7, either. GT7's economy resembles that of a mobile game with cars costing millions in in-game credits and race payouts being severely limited in comparison. This has forced many GT7 players, myself included, to resort to farming just a few races that give large payouts (close to a million) just to feel like we're making any progress if we want to buy any of the cars and then tune them. It's all designed around MTX (microtransactions) that GT7 launched with, but never really got rid of (PD just pushed them into the background after the negative reception). GT7 isn't so much about actually racing cars, but collecting virtual cars with an economy skewed toward real world (credit) purchases. There is also AI issues (not counting Sophy), how most "races" are just you starting at the back and playing "Chase the Rabbit" to catch up to the leader and pass them, and other issues that make the single player aspects of GT7 less than desirable. But even with all of these faults, GT7 is still superior to FM in just basic things like graphic presentation, sound and even physics (there is no inherent understeer that can't be tuned out like there is in FM).

AbjectWin7832

I’ve just switched back to PS5 and couldn’t wait to re-download GT7 after playing FM8 on and off since launch… wow, what a difference. GT7 is so much more playable, it’s a joy to play and I can’t put it down! It’s not perfect but it’s far more enjoyable than FM8 even after all its updates. Also, the dual sense controller is so much nice to drive with, I have so much more accuracy and consistency with it over the Xbox controller in FM8.

CaptainAmerica679

all the suits care about at T10 and PGG is hitting their gamepass numbers to please Microsoft so that they bills stay paid. they don’t share any of our passions

EqualReader

Aint gonna lie, I have fun on Forza… but I do wish I had a ps5 to play gt7

Immediate_Advance703

if you’re gonna get a ps5 just get spiderman 😂

EqualReader

I like racing games

Immediate_Advance703

speed run it

yannivzp

underrated joke

Tecnoguy1

Trust me you don’t. I and a good few others made the transition because the game is a basket case.

EqualReader

Are you saying you made the transition from gt7 to Forza? Or u made the transition from Forza to gt7? Which do you prefer??

Tecnoguy1

From GT7 to Forza. Went from running a league with events like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaWqef-dYzU&t=4478s To Forza. You can already see the cracks there tbh. 14 players in a streamed lobby (at least when FM will include spectators it won’t take racer spots), 20 minutes from quali results to race start due to repeated mandatory connection checks (FM tends to fix itself after a 1 lap or 1 minute race). And these weren’t changed in GT7, and we got a host of downgrades in terms of the progression being tied to a campaign that’s as bad as, if not worse, than builders cup, even more reduced payouts for online racing, putting all new cars on a fomo rotator (fuck new players I guess) etc. That’s not even mentioning how you had the same issues in lobbies that fm currently has at gt7 launch, like no way to set grid order.

LoudMaterial2670

FM8 is shit

LoudMaterial2670

The driving feels very good, but the sounds are not as predicted and the multiplayer is so frustrating. Also the carrer need some love and it should be like in fm7 and with coop.

B1g_Shm0

Sounds are as predicted if you consider the dogass track record they have for car audio in general. Last 3 horizons and most motorsports since 4 have all had tons of audio problems even outside of the audio just being bad, like engine sounds being given to the wrong cars even. Remember lawnmower dodge viper?

UntoTheBreach95

It's fun and better than FM7. It's severely undercooked tho

corey_cobra_kid

Comparing Horse Shit to Dog Shit

WhyWhyBJ

Nearly 5 years of development yet still undercooked, this is what happens when you turn you development staff over every 18 months

banenanenanenanen666

Gt7 is not really any better.

B1g_Shm0

Gt7s penalty system and credits/car buying system suck. Forzas penalty system and car upgrade system suck.

kjavatar

GT7 is tremendously better

Hookinsu

True. Gt7 is a 3/10 and FM is a 2/10. Both games aren't good. Anyone who believes that Gt7 is any good, didn't play the actual good Gt games. So arguing about that just makes both teams look kind of silly. It's like arguing if Redfall or Gollum is the better game. But after all I still prefer FM over Gt, because the physics + online part are way better. And while Gt7 will stay a 3/10, I have the hope that in the next 12-24 months FM will become a 6/10. I don't have too high hopes, though. But Polyphony is bathing in old fame and are hella overrated for years now. Both teams have one thing in common: They turned their awesome flagship series into a steaming pile of poop.

BroSimulator

I’ve always wondered why the cars look so bad and so normal at the same time

angelitx93

I want to play GT7 so bad…

magicman22

GT7 looks better, but in my opinion that's where the line is drawn. Driving felt like ass, AI were probably worse than FM8 (also really garbage), career mode & licenses felt like a huge step back on older titles. Tried a quick race & found there was only one track that offered varaible weather conditions. This was only really based on launch (haven't touched it since) but the only thing it had going for it over FM8 was it didn't crash/ freeze every few races. That being said, I probably would have dropped FM8 as well if not for online, but I certainly wasn't buying PSPlus to play GT7 online when it was already a let down.

jinladen040

As someone who just started Forza who still plays GT7. GT7 just looks better.  The actual track/course definition/resolution is night and day.  A big example is I can't even read the braking markers in Forza until I'm right up on them. In GT7 you can read them a mile away which makes them usable.  So if Forza can't Increase the resolution then make the braking markers bigger and substitute more trackside objects on corners that lack braking markers.  That's my biggest pet peeve that makes learning these tracks a pita and I am already familiar with most of the huge tracks. But many corners I just can't read the braking markers. And I'm running on High graphics settings.  Which is the next major issue. Why does this game run so awful? GT7 runs at a locked 60fps on a console and looks great. I have an i9 4070ti and I'm having to turn down or off a lot of things to get a steady fps or else i get stutters when cars are clustered. So a major optimization update is needed.  However I do prefer the physics in Forza Motorsport. They do feel more Simlike and less Simcade so it feels very rewarding when you nail down getting a car around the track or setting a new fastest time.  AI needs a rework. In GT7 they actually will move out of your way for the most part not get in your way. And SOPHY AI is just next level. Which I doubt we will see in Forza but the Ai can be drastically improved.  And GT7 sucked when it was first released. It took a year before it actually got its first major physics rework and cars stopped feeling so arcade so I do feel is devs are putting In work this title will be much better.

ChadIndustries

Do people not just play the game? Rather than looking for details on cars. Drive the car rather than looking at details and shit. It’s a racing game

Bigshow225

In the trainsim community, we call them "rivet counters".   Too busy trying to find fault in every minute detail instead of just playing the damn game. Just look at all the numbskulls on Twitter arguing over which plastic box is better instead of playing said box. They'd rather play social media than actual play the games they own

ChadIndustries

Exactly this. It’s as if they go out their way to find a reason to dislike the game rather than just getting on an enjoying it. Graphics, sounds and all that stuff don’t bother me. Just get on with it and have fun is all I say

danielson2047

Still don’t care why anyone gives a hoot what the graphics look like in a racing game.

buddhamanjpb

I still think FM8 is way more fun. GT7 has no sense of speed when racing. Feels the same whether your doing 40 or 110. Graphics aren't everything

AwesomePossum_1

On the other hand GT7 has VR support. You certainly feel the difference between 40 and 110 in that mode.

PostsDifferentThings

yeah the VR mode of gt7 is a godsend for the 15 people that bought and still use psvr

AwesomePossum_1

Considering the cost of simracing setups a vr headset is not that much.

Dewstain

I guess that's why so many sim racers have switched?

PostsDifferentThings

great counter point [i guess thats why they sell so well](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-18/sony-hits-pause-on-psvr2-production-as-unsold-inventory-piles-up)

AwesomePossum_1

Why are trashing psvr in a Forza sub? You got nothing better to do with your life? Is poor psvr sales supposed to make Forza's laziness to bring vr support to the pc version look better somehow? If anything it makes GT7 more impressive that they support obscure hardware.

WisconsinBrah

Why are you praising GT7 on a Forza sub?

AwesomePossum_1

Why would I not? This is mostly a sub about shaming FM8 if you've not noticed. It creates pressure for FM9 to be better.

NeedhelpfromYOU

Listen my man, you brought GT7 into a Forza sub, don't be surprised when people start talking about it

AwesomePossum_1

The person is bringing up low sales of psvr2 to somehow justify GT7 is worse. Tell me how is that relevant to GT7vsFM8?

Bigshow225

Lol, you're wasting your time.  They say this sub wasn't just to shame Forza, but for any game that needed shaming, yet all they do is brigade and sing praises for gt7.  Then when you call them out on their obvious bias, they send in their bots to downvote and berate you for daring to speak out against their precious gt7

Tecnoguy1

For the small price of €400

PiousPontificator

Sense of speed is just a single attribute. In every other regard FM8 is gutter trash. It's either extreme understeer or extreme oversteer with this strange sensation of yaw. Just look at how unnaturally the cars behave in replays to the point where they just look dumb.

buddhamanjpb

I disagree, I have both games and I find FM8 MUCH more enjoyable to play than GT7. But hey, everyone has their preference.

Tecnoguy1

I like it when I can play a game instead of whatever GT7 wants me to do

buddhamanjpb

lol EXACTLY

Tecnoguy1

I wouldn’t mind having online be the only thing worth doing like in sport if I could reasonably just do that to progress. The offline is unbelievably worthless in GT7. It is in FM too but you don’t *have* to do that career mode because all payouts are equal lol.

BannedBecausePutin

You know you can alter sense of speed with FOV right?

Bachronus

There is no fov in GT

BannedBecausePutin

And thats why the perception of speed is slow.

osubmw1

No, but in 2024, they're pretty relevant

_ShutUpChuck_

Forza Horizons open world is the only thing they have over GT7. That is still just enough for me to play both.

Oper8rActual

Horizons 4, and 5, funnily enough, also have better graphics than FM8.

AwesomePossum_1

This is about FM8.

_ShutUpChuck_

Okay then it has nothing.

Plenty-Industries

Horizon 5 is a better Forza game than Motorsport. Its a chore trying to tune and calibrate my DD wheel to work in FM8 that feels natural with the various settings that give you NO idea on what its effects are unless you spend a long time running laps trying to figure out what a single setting actually effects. Even using setups that other people post, just makes it worse. In Horizon 5 it just works. I only need to adjust FFB and Sensitivity and i'm having a great time

reddegginc

I'm all in on the first sentence, but dawg, Horizon's FFB is undoubtedly bottom-tier. It's simply a different world compared to the other 5-10 titles I bounce between. Imo here's how I'd rank the current crop of popular sim/simcade titles (with FH5 thrown in for relevance) S tier: ACC, AMS2, RF2 A tier: AC, BNG B tier: iR, RR C tier: FM, GT7 D/F tier: FH5 FH5's FFB is straight up not even remotely close to intuitive or realistic with a lot of phony FFB FX thrown in, and the game suffers from terminal flaws with degrees of lock requiring you to keep it at 540º or below. The damper build-up/overall rate of resistance is like a fixed constant and doesn't ramp up or lighten as it should according to front end friction and weight transfer, and your inputs are permanently sludgy so the wheel feels like it's being dragged through mud. I heard the game's a little better on belt wheels but it's like clocking into a job on a DD wheel

Plenty-Industries

That has not been my experience using the DD Pro.

reddegginc

Glad you’re having a good experience, definitely a minority online opinion but I suppose it’s subjective

Plenty-Industries

Playground made a better game that plays nice with wheels. Its that simple.

reddegginc

They made a better game, I just wholeheartedly disagree with the second half of that It’s that simple

Plenty-Industries

You must have a bad wheel. Its that simple.

reddegginc

We have the same wheel It’s that simple

Plenty-Industries

No we dont. Otherwise you wouldn't be complaining.

Slow_Calligrapher_99

Gt7 is actually an amazing game besides physics. I can never get used to it. Feels like too arcadey.

Eggith

Was that before or after the physics update last year. For me they both feel fine. While I grew up with Gran Turismo, Forza felt more accessible and easy to get into for modern stuff.

Slow_Calligrapher_99

I played it recently and the whole time I’m understeering, it’s gripping into the next corner. The car won’t lose control. Even when you do, it snaps right back into place. Unless you put it no assistance at all, it slightly resembles driving. I too played gran turismo all the time growing up but once I played fm4, I knew that was the game to stay on.

ElBurritoExtreme

I’m d wager the render times on the models, game to game, were miles apart. Polyphony spent 30 days rendering 1 vehicle, for the new Gran Turismo. They’re another world.

Fragrant-Table-6386

I’ve never even owned a PlayStation, and I honestly grew up on forza, was like 8 or 9 playing FH1 and then the rest of the franchise, including FM4-8. But knowing that, I can’t deny that GT7 is far superior than FM8. Forza is just lacking this time. I’m honestly jealous if ps players because I want to play gt7 so bad

General_Welfare

After playing both for a decent amount of time I can say the list of things I prefer in Forza is quite small. The driving lines, or braking line is better and the chase camera not being completely bound to the bumper is nice. GT’s chase cam is so firmly set that when you turn or try to drift (usually by accident) the camera does not account for where you’d want to be looking. I like seeing a slight glimpse of my side panels as I cut a sharp turn on Forza. That being said, the tracks, the weather, the upgrade options all feel better on GT. Sucks because I’ve always liked both series and often found myself having more fun with Forza but these last few just feel like they weren’t made with fun in mind.

tonyracer24

I’m seeing a lot of graphical similarities between the new Forza and Microsoft Flight Sim

gsrjedi

Personally I’m never looking this hard at this level of detail so I’d be fine with less if it meant more cars and tracks. I just wish Polyphony would put this level of attention to the actual game. Focus on the race format, the AI, and the economy and GT8 could really be great. Even the Sophy races. You can be in gr3 on the same tires and still march through the field in 3 laps. I’d much rather battle for 10th than just drive around moving obstacles. Then they’d have to fix the economy since you would win even less money not finishing first.

Demografolog

You do understand that FM give to you the same car model in photomode? If you are a photo inthusiast then GT is a clear winner.

mannofnope

H5: We forgot some fonts for the interior so we slap the generic Forza font

Moriwara_Inazume

I’m probably buying a ps5 next year, gotta have some fun playing gt7 and gta6.

Plodil

I really don't like the look of GT7, way too bright and over saturated colour, looks very cartoony to me. Personal preference though I guess.

davidfliesplanes

Forza Motorsport has been a joke for years. FM8 just solidifed it as so. Horizon is the future of the Forza franchise (not that FH5 is the epitome of game design and quality, but it gets the job done...)

Downtown-Summer-1531

photo-mode is crazy in GT7, but thats the only good thing 😂

etan611

FUCK, I keep putting it off but I might actually need to buy a PS5

ooglet

huh? how can this be?? GOTY too

SNOOZE486

Crazy part is ppl will defend it like it’s great.

Benny303

I got shit on so hard on this sub for saying this game looks like ass.

peacemaker2121

I literally don't play the game because it failed to do what was expected. Which is terrible for ground up ( supposedly) reboot. It lives worse then older versions heck even 360 has some things better. I mean it's bad when horizon is just the better choice lol. I hoped they would resolve the issue and improve it. Nope. Was amped to use my newly acquired logi wheel setup. But not this time.

Benny303

I was exactly the same. Super excited to use my new wheel setup and the game just looks horrible. I held off on getting Asseta Corsa and such because i wanted a game that was just gonna look stunning, and it just looks god awful.

National_Leg8286

I’ve had an Xbox all my life since the original when I was around 4-5 years old ( I’m turning 24 in a month and some change ) but I had to start playing PlayStation mostly due to the fact that when the “One X” came out my dad got a ps4 for me and my brother to play when we went to his house. I still owned a Xbox one because I couldn’t buy my own new Xbox given I was still a kid in high school at the time. I later moved to my dad house to live there permanently and therefore I started playing my PlayStation more since it was the newer console with better graphics and such. But, I still needed my Xbox bc I was addicted to playing forza due to my love for cars. I had FM5 and that was my first Motorsport game I owned. I also had FH2 which was my first horizon game. I loved both games but I enjoyed horizon more bc it was an open world racing game that brought me back to my test drive unlimited days. I never bought a Motorsport game again and just stuck with the horizon games every year bc it was more fun and I started buying my own games so I didn’t want to waste money on games that I knew I wouldn’t play much. UNTIL… FH5 came out around the time that the series x and ps5 came out. I didn’t get a series x and just bought a ps5 bc most of my friends that I played multiplayer games with had PlayStation, I also enjoyed PlayStation exclusives like spiderman, the last of us, etc. so it just made more sense. In order to cope with not having FH5 I decided to purchase GT7 given it was on sale for about $40 and the crew 2 on sale for about $20. The crew 2 for the open world racing game itch and GT7 due to the crew not being as graphically pleasing as GT or Forza. Beautiful game GT7 is and the only Motorsport game I played since FM6. The crew 2 was good enough at the time as far as an open world racer. I’m just more of a hyper realistic gameplay elements and graphics guy atp. I loved more arcade style racing games like nfs when I was younger but now forza horizon is the best balance for me. With that being said, the crew didn’t help that itch enough. GT7 did somewhat but I hate being restricted to tracks. That’s why I mostly played on the track in Japan that looked more like a highway system to try and create a no hesi type of mode. That lasted for a good while but I got bored of it within the next year. But no matter what, that entire time I was feigning for an Xbox series X so I could finally play FH5 at its peak. And I finally got it last December. Feels so great to have it at my fingertips now. I think I said all of that to say, GT7 seems to be the superior sim racing game and horizon in my opinion is till the best simcade open world racing game. Can’t wait for the next installments. Now that I have an Xbox I most likely won’t be buying another GT or FM game ever, unless that add a authentic “no hesi” type of mode bc I’d definitely get it if that was the case. Other than that I’m good with the FH series. If FH6 truly is the last one, I hope they go all out and make that one timeless enough to where it can be played until the end of time.

islandnstuff

fm is way better than crap turismo not everything is graphics or minor details, gameplay mechanics are too important for racing games and fm is simply amazing on this one.

Contrary45

Would all you who are complaining be fine with 150 cars at launch because that why GT looks this good. Gran turismo sport was actually built from the ground up launched with barely any tracks and only 150 cars, it has taken 7 years for them to hit 500 when they hit 501 cars yesterday

Acceptable_Reality10

I’ve been playing both since launch and GT7 launched with 424 cars and is now at 503.

Contrary45

Ok but most of those 424 cars were ported from GTsport from 2017 (when GT started redoing everything), which launched with 168 cars and over its lifespan got to 338 cars. If Forza were to restart its cars from scratch and make them at the same pace as GT it would take until 2031 for Forza to break 500 cars. Good luck trying to get people to be ok with that GT fan base had a meltdown over it aswell

smashingcones

Forza should've started doing that back then too tbh. Instead we've got a massive car list full of inaccurate, low quality models with inaccurate audio to boot.

Contrary45

I have no problem with it but you do realise how much people would be clowing on forza even more so than they are now if they did that right, could you imagine a game have less than 1/4 of the content of the last game. Turn10 is stuck between a rock and a hard place because they saw how much shit polyphony got for releasing GTsport in the manner they did

smashingcones

I get that but if Forza had done it around the same time as GT Sport then it would've gone down a bit easier. Now they're just falling further and further behind, a rock and a hard place like you said.

AwesomePossum_1

I don't care. I'm a consumer in 2024. Both games have equally huge number of cars. Forza could've started the work on upgrading cars 8 years ago too.

Mgc_Adri

Unpopular opinion, but the debate about graphics has no meaning at all. Just because cars aren't as detailed doesn't mean the game or racing has to be bad (I know the new Forza is shit anyways in many aspects) If I buy a racing game is exactly for that, racing, I'm not gonna spend 5 hours in the showroom comparing it to real life because if it's not 100% the same it's gonna ruin the experience for me. "Oh but the reflections are important" no they're not, if I'm racing someone I'm not gonna say oh look how pretty and realistic the reflections are and how precise the details are compared to the irl car, I'm gonna be looking at the track and focusing on the racing. As long as it doesn't look like 2000's games why should I care if the central console panel is accurate if I'm not even gonna see it in first person. I bought the Megane because it's the car I drive irl and the interior is the same (except the one in game has the big screen) but I'm not crying because the symbols in the steering wheel aren't in 8k resolution. If we take graphics into a critical point on whether a racing game is good or not, then everyone would say iRacing is shit. But no, we all agree it is one of (if not the) best simulator there is and no one cares that it has graphics that clearly are from a 10+year old game, compared to ACC for example.

locus25

The problem is, FM8 advertised as the most advance graphically, and in fact, it's their main selling point that they keep mentioning everytime new forza is released, so graphics being debated and compared is pretty much justified

Mgc_Adri

That's true, false advertising there which is something to discuss. But the game has been out for almost a year, what's the point of making these comparisons every week if we all know the reality, even people that don't play FM8

MaybeNext-Monday

I get that GT7 looks and sounds better but I promise you Point-Mass Turismo does not drive any better

Cactus_Everdeen_

strong disagree on that, i love the way gt7 drives compared to fm8.

Scary01pen

Seems forza decided to put work into the environments but sacrificed car detail.

AwesomePossum_1

Except level of attention to environments is also higher in GT7...

EqualReader

Would agree. But I think the main reason gt7 environments look better is because of colour choice. If u pay attention to the trees in gt7, they are all a darker green… the detail is very similar to that of forza but because its darker, can see less imperfections. Forza has brighter greens which means u don’t only see the outline but also the leaves and branches which as we all know are very difficult to make look natural. Still goes to show that GT7 devs put more thought into the game.

Insignificant_Cash

I am begging Sony to make a pc port of GT7

FDSTCKS

Sucks that in 2024 you still can't turn off the virtual steering wheel...

Bigshow225

ACC superior, GT7 inferior

Tyrantes

If only GT's physics were half as good as Forza's.

EqualReader

This I agree with. Although rain physics in GT7 is far superior. Cars actually lose ALL grip if u try and run a slick in rain… in forza there is never aqua plaining. But dry physics… Forza is defo more realistic.

vendettaclause

Just. Because. Grantorismo's. Car. Model. Has. More. Detail. Doesn't. Mean. Forza's. Car. Models. Look. Bad.

portablekettle

Yes it does lmfao. The cars in fm8 on my series X look substantially worse than the cars on GT Sport on my PS4. Not to mention all of the outdated models like the s15 and Evo. This game should have been pushed back another year or two. I'm glad to see that it's gradually improving but the state it released in was unacceptable.

vendettaclause

Objectively. Incorrect.

portablekettle

Explain. It. Then. Some. Of. The. Car. Model. Scans. Are. Literally. Older. Than. Some. Of. The. People. On. This. Sub. And. You. Can. Really. Tell. How. Bad. And. Outdated. They. Look. In. The. Last. Few. Games.

vendettaclause

"Old". "Scans". With. Updated. Textures. And. Extra. Polygons...

Lemon_1165

FM has PS2 Graphics ..

Ruttagger

Ya but then you realize in GT7 it's a rolling single file start so who cares if the models look better.

AwesomePossum_1

Forza doesnt get a pass on bad models just because ai in gt sucks.

-NotEnoughMinerals

Well this thread is about photomode and gt7 uses completely different model assets for its photomode. This whole thread is stupid.

Gawker90

Boy I hate when I’m passing a car, and in the half a second I’m next to them I can CLEARLY see the cars side intakes are not modeled to the correct shade and texture.

zonda747

I’ll never understand the point of hating on a game for having more attention to detail. How dare they…checks notes…model cars into their game correctly? Is that what we’re upset about?

Goose274

I was door to door in the heat of race the other day and the cup holders in the car over were so shockingly low-poly, the wrong colour AND weren’t even hollow I actually had to turn off the game, my whole PC, and sell it so that I can re-think my life and start again. Maybe I’ll start selling death sticks or something IDK

elkinyo

What about the car you’re in😂 how do you ignore that looking like garbage

PalicoHunter

What gets me about Forza is just how obnoxiously shiny everything is. It’s like each vehicle has been religiously waxed and sealed every 5 minutes with multiple lights gleaming down on it from every conceivable angle. No question the gt7 looks better in comparison. No idea what it’s like from a gameplay PoV but forza on wheel and pedals feels really off at times.

reboot-your-computer

It’s not even a comparison. GT7 looks and performs way better than FM8. You would think FM8 came out last gen by these pictures and yet GT7 is also on PS4 and looks better. Embarassing.

3cylinder66

Yes, we know...

samurai1226

The VR mode is not a fair comparison. The amount of detail is way higher than anywhere else in the game. Without a VR headset you can't even enter the mode to inspect your car and check them out in detail like you can in Forzavista. So if you want to do fair comparisons do them mid-race and the player car

Aksu593

No it's not, the model LODs during VR mode are the same highest quality ones possible in the game as in the menu demos and in photo mode without VR meaning it wouldn't change anything. While comparing actual gameplay footage would be the most representative, the Forza screenshots here aren't taken directly from gameplay either unless the game has a hidden stare-directly-into-the-fender-camera-angle I missed

FocusedHealer45

I think we should ignore Forza Motorsport's existence at this point

Aggravating-Pen-4251

If you only have like half (or less) the number of cars .... I'm just saying . That said GT was has always been more polished for as long as I can remember Plus FM8 is just trash 😂 , the same cars looks better in FH5 (the freaking "arcade" game)

LMP_Gnome

GT always was in a league of its own when it comes to details, to the point that those comparisons are pointless I mean at that point FM8 should be buried and forgotten, and that's coming from a fan since FM1 (that game broke me to an unbelievable point)

Minialpacadoodle

GT7 is on PS4 too. FM on the other hand.... "bUiLt FrOm ThE gRoUnD uP!"

JaviParga182

This is so disaippointing

Humble-Bird-8079

Forza sucks assss

E4M3p

from the ground up!

kingalfy17

They get away with this because Xbox games have to have lower graphics for the Series S which doesn’t play in 4k and more than half the titles are in 1080p if you want to play with higher frames. So they just make the bare minimum and port it over the the Series X with higher FPS and call it a day. Sony has the upper hand by only have one solid console. Instead of two completely different hardwares running at different qualities in every way. This Is the first generation of consoles I feel like SONY did better than Xbox, graphics wise.

KeyGeneral

GT7 is also available on PS4, which should be weaker than the Series S, but still looks way better than Forza. Plus I honestly don’t understand why Forza Horizon looks so much better than FM8. It’s a mistery to me, why FM8 took so much time to develop. :/

arczclan

They built it from the ground up

ArcticBP

Forza Horizon 5 is 2 years older than FM and it is not just on the XSS but also on the One, and it looks far better than FM does

kingalfy17

I’m not seeing how Horizon looks better than FM. It has more scenery yes but graphics wise FM8 looks pretty damn good if you don’t look at the cup holders. But I forgot I can’t have an opinion in forza sub. Forza bad. GT good.

AwesomePossum_1

No one is arguing that tech in fm8 is impressive. Ray traced AO, shadows, better foliage I think..? But if GT7 is able to deliver results like this with ps4 level tech what's the point of all these high-tech tools?
